(grant) breaking news tonight at 5-- shots fired near a busy bart station just as the commute is getting underway. good evening i'm grant lodes. (catherine) and i'm catherine heenan in for vicki liviakis... the details are limited-- but here's what we know... police received reports of shots fired near the daly city station. trains were delayed as daly city police and bart officers investigated.. (grant) kron 4's dan thorn just got to the scene--- dan what do you know about the situation? .. bart svice at the daly city station stopped around 3:15 p.m. due to unspecified police activity, but agency officials say that service has resumed and they riders are currently experiencing 20-minute delays. (catherine) it happened near an east bay bart station during the morning commute. kron4's haaziq madyun reports. the search is on for a man armed with a gun involved in a violent attempted robbery here on the 400 block of 40th street in oakland. oakland police investigators say the 40 year old male victim was pistol whipped during the altercationsot

as a blunt object. at this time we do know that the firearm discharged but it is still under investigation to see if it was an accidental or intentional discharge">the incident happened friday around 8:40am. crime scene investigators blocked this section of the sidewalk as they searched for evidence. this location is right next to the macarthur bart station. passengers had to navigate around the yellow crimne scene tape during the morning commute. bart officials say neither the suspect or victim came from bart, but say it is possible the victim may have been on his way to catch a train sot oakland city councilmember dan kalb says crimes near bart stations are ongoing problem in the city sotthe victim suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition. police have linmited information about the suspect. investigators are

(grant) the oakland raiders are exploring the possibility of playing at at&t park for the 2019 season. that's according to a representative for the san francisco giants. plans aren't set in stone, but there is some interest from both the raiders and the giants. a representative for the giants says the organization wants to do what's best for bay area fans-- and they are open to the concept. the raiders pulled out of their lease with the coliseum after the city of oakland announced it was suing them over their move to vegas. this means the raiders last game at the coliseum is likely on monday when they take on the broncos. weeks of 20-18 in san jose. kron four's rob fladeboe takes a look at the numbers and what may behind this disturbing trend. rob fladeboe/san jose "....the most recent pedestrian fatality here in san jose was a 47 year old man who was struck by a car as he walked here along los gatos almaden road. he died on wednesday and became the 23rd pedestrian fatality of 2018..." that's 7 more pedestrian fatalities than the city recorded last year and getting close to 2014's total which was a 20 year high. more often than not speed was a factor says california walks deputy director jamie fearer. jamie fearer/california walks "....reallywhat we need to do is to reduce speed so that when people do make mistakes, those mistakes don't end up with somebody dying or being seriously injured...."many of the fatalities are occurring on wide, high volume corridors like capitol expressway, senter road and monterey road where traffic-calmng measures are trying to get drivers' attention, which is often elsewhere says fearer.jaime fearer/california walks "....there has definitely been an increase in dostracted driving but as the same time

(catherine) the fiance of a missing colorado woman has been arrested in connection with her disappearance. 29-year-old kelsey berreth hasn't been seen since thanksgiving, when she was reportedly spotted with their daughter on surveillance video. an arrest warrant was served this morning on her fiance -- patrick frazee. and he's been taken to jail. he earlier told police he last saw berreth november 22nd, when he picked up their daughter. there was a report earlier this week that frazee was spotted at a waste management facility. authorities say the child is safe. they have not yet announced the charges against frazee. the other, the c-h-p's maximum enforcement period. kron four's terisa estacio is in the north bay for us on this story...and has some tips... terisa? today, a king tide pushed into this area... shutting down this entire park and ride... at one point, there was two to three feet of water... and this is just the first day of the king tide.... today is also the first day the chp is roll out it's big maximum enforcement period for the upcoming christmas holiday. (take pkg) cal trans closed off this section of the off ramp from highway 101 to state route 1 for several hours friday.... all because of this, deep flood waters from a king tide. gates were put up to block access in the manzanita park and ride - it was too dangerous to drive through with the high waters... some drivers did try... and that is

a problem says the chp. andy barclay, chp. it is not a suggestion, it is done for safety. chp officer andy barclay says with the king tide predicted for the next five days, till after christmas - it is imperative for drivers to be mindful of caltrans and the steps crews make to keep everyone safe. also, with the closures, it impacts other parts of the area... clogging arteries. barclay. it is important to realize that the traffic can be impacted, and deal. barclay also says, the chp will be out in force. here at the park and ride, we found an officer issuing a ticket for blocking drivers... a tow truck was called to pull it away. and this evening, the chp will be out during it's maximum enforcment period. barclay. we are out to make sure everyone is safe. (grant) in the east bay... the police chief in moraga is warning you about a p-g&-e phone scam. residents were complaining about a possible bill scam so moraga police chief jon king decided to call the number asking people for money. the person on the line told him the residence owed almost five hundred dollars. king had given him the address to the moraga police headquarters and he assured they pay their bills on time and in full. king said residents can avoid the scammers by only calling the number on their pg&e bill if they think it's overdue. (catherine) the santa clara county d-a's office is warning peopleto avoid food events which might turn out to be a scam.. things advertised like "bottomless mimosas" and crab feed expos. the d-a's office is getting complaints of "phantom events" - wherepeople were charged as much as 100 dollars -- and then no event ever happened. people are being advised to check out the credibility of websites, and reach out to event venues if they suspect something isn't right.. could be bad for your health. a doctor here in san francisco says he's seeing a rise in "selfie wrist." yeah - that's a thing apparently. it's the name given to the numbness and given to the numbness and tingling sensation people can experience in their fingers and wrists, which sometimes develops into sharp pain. dr. levi harrison says "selfie wrist" is caused by hyper-flexing your wrist inwards to capture a perfect selfie angle. during the summer, kim kardashian declared she wasn't taking selfies anymore because of the

a family in the south bay is desperately looking for information after their home was ransacked. aside from other things that were stolen -- someone actually grabbed a couple of three week old puppies. now the family is concerned that the puppies won't be properly cared for.. kron4's dan thorn has the details. a mother nursing her litter of puppies...at first there was 7..now there's just 5...sot: it's actually really sad that we have to experience this.. karen ramirez says this is their sweet girl chicky's first litter of puppies.she said they've noticed a big difference in chickys behavior since her babies were taken from her..sot: we actually have to kind of force her be with the puppies and still feed them..karen says the plan was to keep two of the puppies and give the others to family members as gifts. some grinch has now ruined that...sot: even if they wanted to take

(justine) people are leaving california... but even more people are coming in. california's population has grown by 215-thousand people over the last year. numbers released friday show the state's population hit 39-point-8 million this past july. the population growth was driven by more births than deaths. and an addition of 21-thousand people through migration. the highest growth rates were in inland counties such as amador, placer and merced. california's population far exceeds that of any other state. the state's population has grown by 2-

(ken) we now want to update you on a sea lion pup found at the oakland airport last night. here is video of when alameda county sheriff's deputies tried to coax the 40 pound pup away from danger. the marine mammal center is now taking care of the baby sea lion and have named him "cruzin". this is video they sent us today of him in his temperary home while the team in sausalito nurses him back to health. today veternarians did a number of tests and found cruzin is dehydrated and under-fed. they beleive he was seperated from his mother too soon and isn't able to

(ken) there's a new name for a baby reindeer at the san francisco zoo. two weeks ago, the zoo held a naming contest for its visitng 6 month old reindeer calf who's part of a trio with two adults. more than 7-hundred entries were submitted from visitors all over the world of all ages. the top names were tinsel, jingle, and mistletoe. the winner, chosen via a social media poll, is tinsel. tinsel can be seen at the zoo now through january 1st. santa rosa fire chief cut the ribbon on the new temporary firestation 5.....they unveilled the new sign....and raised the american flag.....it isn't much....a canvas tent over a metal shell covers the engine...(sot)this is a traditional firehouse kitchen maybe a tad smaller than ideal but we have a crew of threewhile a triplewide modular trailer will serve as home base for the crew working here....in addition to pictures of the firestation that was destroyed...the original call box and this right light were salvaged from the rubble serve as decorations and reminders of what they went thru. a fire captain created paintings depicting what they faced during the tubbs fire....and this one....of how they are coming back.....which reads five is alive.that five is alive regardless how much fire in with a fist we're back we're strong and we're ready to provide services to the area the chief says it's relief to those living or rebuilding in fountain grove.....to once again have firefighters stationed in their neighborhood. i've already had two people drive-by give me the thumbs up that's pretty cool they're happy to have us back we're happy to be herefor
