( marty ) breaking news overnight..three people are dead following a shooting at a bowling alley in southern california. it happened just before midnight inside the gable house bowl in torrance. four people were hurt in the shooting. two of them were rushed to the hospital. according to witnesses -- gun fire erupted after a fight between two groups of people inside the bowling alley. one witness says he heard about 15 gun shots . ( marty ) no word on the condition of those wounded in the shooting. so far, no arrests have been made. ( marty ) in the east bay, three men are dead following a shooting in west oakland.

it happened just before 9 friday night in the 1000 block of center street. police have not released the identities of the victims and no word of any arrests. ( marty ) happening today...the funeral for a newman police officer killed in the line of duty. yesterday, many gathered to honor ronil singh in an emotional ceremony. while others questioned state immigration policies. here's pedro rivera with the story.

( marty ) 4 your health this morning...a warning about the flu. people returning to the bay area after traveling for the holidays are bringing the virus with them. doctors warn it could spread as they return to work and school. here's kron 4's justine waldman with the increase in flu cases in california and the across the country. . nats that achy, hot, miserable feeling is hard to mistake -- it's the flu and being sick can last for days.doctor alexander evens tells kron 4 news, right now the flu is spreading quickly.sot we are seeing more cases it is picking up especially after the holidaynew numbers from the cdc show 24 states including california are showing widespread levels of flu outbreaks.those are the state in reds.orange on the ma means regional outbreaks.

( marty ) san francisco public works crews are pitching in to clean up the garbage that's accumulating on federal properties in the city during the federal shutdown. crews added to their regular routines by stopping by locations such as aquatic park. they are stopping by as they complete their normal routes. ( marty ) breaking news we're following....police in santa clara are on the scene of a deadly officer involved shooting. it happened just before 6 this morning outside a gas station on lafayette

street. investigators have not released the suspect's name or what led to the shooting. no one else was hurt. we'll continue to follow this story and bring you any updates as they become available. ( marty ) repair plans have been approved to fix the two cracks at the salesforce transit center. its been 3 months since it was shutdown following the discovery of those cracks. kron 4's dan kerman reports --- it is still unclear how soon buses will start rolling through the facility. progress is being made towards the eventual repair and reopening of the salesforce transit center, which was shutdown a month after it's opening last august when two cracks were found in steel beams on the bus deck above fremont streetsot christine falvey/transbay joint powers authority :15the repair has been approved by the independant peer reviewers that has been enpaneled by

governor .... jerry brown is moving out of the governor's mansion. moving trucks were seen friday morning outside the governor's mansion in downtown sacramento. governor brown moved into the mansion back in 20-16... after a massive renovation to the building. brown was the first governor to live at the mansion since ronald reagan in 19-67. he will be moving to his newly -built home in colusa county. ( marty ) now to a disturbing case of sex abuse at a phoenix nursing home. sources say a woman who has been in a coma for at least ten years gave birth at the facility last week. briana whitney reports phoenix police are now investigating. .

( marty ) a police officer in missouri stepped in to save a life.. and ended up gaining a new family member. officer jason smith was trying to get the attention of a kitten after he noticed her on a barrier wall. the officer called for back- up to control traffic in the area. he was able to grab the kitten ... which was not thrilled about that .. until they were inside the officers patrol car. after the kitten was checked out by a vet... she was adopted by the officer's family and named bella.
