investigating a routine three- car crash .... when a gunman rode up on a bicycle and ambushed her. the suspect has not been publicly identified, but was later found dead inside a home, with a self -inflicted gunshot wound. officer corona graduated from the academy last summer..her father says being a police officer was what she was ( marty ) police have not released a motive in the shooting. a candlelight vigil honoring natalie corona is planned for tonight in davis. ( marty ) residents in davis are showiing their support for officer corona and her family. a memorial is growing outside the davis police station...community members dropping off flowers and cards to pay their

respects. some say they hope this tragic incident will spark a bigger discussion about gun violence... and many say davis is the right place to have that conversation. ( marty ) the small davis police department closed friday to aow officers and staff a chance to grieve the loss of the officer. natalie corona is the first davis p-d officer to die in the line of duty in 60 years. rent a one-bedroom apartment in san francisco is having a trickle down effect on surrounding bay area cities. and, we've learned, through numbers released by zillow, the areas dealing with the the largest rental increase are in the east and south bay. kron four's philippe djegal has the numbers.

( marty ) in the east bay, police say a driver was shot in downtown hayward early friday afternoon. it happened at the busy intersection of main and 'a' streets. witnesses say, two cars pulled up next to each other... and fired shots after a short argument.

police and merchants in the area say the violence is unusual for the time of day and the neighborhood. ( marty ) police say, the victim was shot once and somehow got to a nearby hospital. the 31 year old is expected to survive. police are reviewing surveillence video that they're hoping will reveal more about the suspect's car ... and what led to the shooting. ( marty ) the new york times reports that the f-b-i investigated if president trump secretly worked for russia. according to the times, law enforcement officials were concerned about the president's behavior in the days after he fired f-b-i director james comey nin may, 2017. the report says special counsel robert mueller took over the investigation, but it's unclear if he is still pursuing it. the investigation uncovered no evidence that the president was secretly in contact with russian government officials. the f-b-i declined to comment. ( marty ) this is day 22 of the partial government shutdown. the longest in american history. no talks are scheduled this weekend. president trump says he's willing, able, but not quite ready to declare a national emergency to get his border

supervision, some visitors have left tire marks, trash, and a tree was even cut down. but one tourist says for the most rt, she's been impressed. ( marty ) the national park service says part of the funding is going towards bringing maintenance crews back. most of the government-funded visitor centers at the park are closed. ( marty ) in the east bay -- the community is making sure coast guard families, who are missing their paychecks don't go hungry during the government shutdown. the alameda food bank delivered a van full of food, which will be handed out to east bay coast guard families tomorrow. organizers say, there are an estimated 200- coast guard families.. who will be helped by these donations.

bay coast guard spouses club is sponsoring sunday's event. it says it could use more staples like bread, sugar, flour and eggs.. the group is hoping donations will continue since it is not known when the shutdown will end. ( marty ) the high cost to rent a one-bedroom apartment in san francisco is having a trickle down effect on surrounding bay area cities. and, we've learned, through numbers released by zillow, the areas dealing with the the largest rental increase are in the east and south bay. kron four's philippe djegal has the numbers.

years... the median price for a one-bedroom unit has jumped more than 9-percent.sam sorokin/premium properties- "we need probably five times as much housing built than was built in the last five years, uh, in order to really reach the demand." sam sorokin is a managing partner and broker with premium properies... based in oakland. he manages about one-thousand rental units in berkeley, oakland and albany. sam sorokin/premium properties- "we've actually had a lot of demand for our studios and one-bedroom units. uh, it's really the two-bedrooms and up which are more depressed -- uh, really, specifically, two-bedrooms. and, that's probably because if you were to survey developers who've been building buildings in both oakland and berkeley, and you were to ask them what percentage of two-bedrooms and what percentage are not two- bedrooms, i would probably guess that 80-percent of what's being built is a two-bedroom apartment." he says since the supply of one-

( marty ) in the south bay ... san jose police are looking for answers in a deadly stabbing investigation. detectives were at the scene friday morning, looking for witnesses and watching security video. officers were called to daryl drive, near countrywood court on thursday. they were responding to san jose's first homicide of the year. ( marty ) police have not revealed any information about a motive for the killing or any possible suspects. ( marty ) in the east bay, police say a driver was shot in downtown hayward early friday afternoon. it happened at the busy intersection of main and 'a' streets. witnesses say,

two cars pulled up next to each other... and fired shots after a short argument. police and merchants in the area say the violence is unusual for the time of day and the neighborhood. ( marty ) police say, the victim was shot once and somehow got to a nearby hospital. the 31 year old is expected to survive. police are reviewing surveillence video that they're hoping will reveal more about the suspect's car ... and what led to the shooting. ( marty ) 8-hundred thousand federal employees have seen their first pay day since the government shutdown...without pay. and many furloughed workers don't know what they're going

to do if this goes on much longer. kron4's justine waldman talked with a federal employee here in the bay area who got a paycheck... that can barely buy a candy bar. a paycheck for $1.84.that is what juan serna-spuler says he earned for 96 hours of work because of the government shutdown.this will make it hard for him to pay his bills ontime.sot credit card bills rent i have student loan payments we just purchased a new car those loans have to be paid the married father with two kids lives in the east bay. his job is an air traffic controller at san francisco international airport.he just took out an interest free loan to help his family get by during the shutdown.sot makes me wonder how long it is going to be and how we are going to take care of my familythe national air traffic controllers association filed a lawsuit friday against the governement for failure to pay its workers. claiming the government unlawfully deprived its members of their earned wages without due process.juan like 3,000 natca-represented aviation safety professionals have gone to work for three weeks despite not being paid. sot i can survive for a few more months but we will have to figure out what to dofor juan and his family, paychecks at 1.84 are not sustainable. but he remains invested in his job and dedicated to every flight.sot politics aside we have to come to work people get to their desitnation and home safely and effiecently

andrew thanks, nick. the rams are trying to move one step closer to the super bowl. but, so are the cowboys. and dallas has already played a game this postseason. and won. beating seattle on wild card weekend... dak prescott outdueled russell wilson. in the cowboys' 24-22 win on saturday. ezekiel elliott had a big game on the ground...137 yards and a touchdown. amari cooper had 106 receiving yards. the cowboys have playmakers. as our tobin mcduff reports...saturday's game against the rams could be a case of "who blinks first." while many cowboys fans are grateful dallas is heading to los angeles and not new orleans for a rematch with the saints..be careful what you wish for. the rams are second only to kansas city in the n-f-l in both points and yards this season. the dallas defense will be tested. and the rams' defense is nothing to scoff at either. the cowboys' offensive line will be asked to open holes for

seahawks last week, who had the number-one rushing offense in the n-f-l. we know the rams do a lot of their damage through the air. mark, what do you think it's going to take for the cowboys to stop jared goff and company and win this game? for the second week in a row the cowboys are facing an n-f-c west opponent.

against the seahawks, ezekiel elliott rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown. they'll probably need a big game from him against the rams. but l-a has a pretty good running back itself in todd gurley. chris talked about this. if you're a g-m and you're starting a team from scratch, which guy would you want in your backfield? chris, who do you think is the better back?

chris, who do you think is the better back? against the seahawks, amari cooper had a good game as well. seven catches for 106 yards. mark, being in the bay area, you're familiar with cooper from his time with the raiders. since the trade, he's played in nine games for the cowboys. he has 53 catches for 725 yards and six touchdowns. the raiders received a first-round pick for him... so, chris, mark says it's a sensitive subject in the

bay area to talk about amari cooper. what's your take on him? you would have seen him in a couple of years if he was still with the raiders... you talk about playmakers and amari cooper is certainly one

on offense for the dallas cowboys. aaron donald on defense is so good for the rams. he led the n-f-l in sacks this season with 20-and-a-half. the cowboys have a rookie linebacker that is already a household name in n-f-l circles.

what do you like about leighton vander esch and what he's been able to do as a rookie? hypothetical situation for

you, chris... if cody parkey's kick is good on sunday, the bears beat the eagles. and that would have sent the cowboys to new orleans and the bears to l-a. do you think the rams are happy they're playing the cowboys? or do you think they would have preferred to play the bears in the divisional round? what do you think? i think it's going to be a very
