crash..a california park ranger says the pilot died sometime friday night after crashing near the peak of mount diablo..a pair hikers stumbled upon the debris on saturday..sot: at around 2:45 today we had two hikers that walked passed it they could see it the fog lifted long enough for them to be able to see the wreckage and they notified us..state park ranger cameron morrison says the wreckage wasn't discovered earlier because it was in a remote area and the park was already closed. so far it's believed the pilot was the only victim of the fiery crash..morrison was unsure what caused the plane to go down..sot: it could be a mechanical problem it could be a variety of different factors that caused the plane to go down..a spokesman with the faa says the pilot was flying a mooney m20 plane from hayward to lincoln.a family member called the faa to say the plane was overdue for it's scheduled landing. the time of the friday night crash is

unknown..sot: we don't know the exact time it went down a lot of unknown at this point..which will factor into the weather as well ( marty ) that was dan thorne reporting. as he mentioned --- we do not know the identity of the victim. and the cause of the crash is under investigation. mt. diablo state park rangers say the summit trail will remain closed until the wreckage is ( marty ) police are investigating a deadly stabbing in the south bay. it happened near the santa clara county fairgrounds. police found a man suffering from at least one stab wound. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. police are still looking into the motive. but they have arrested one man. this is san jose's sixth homicide of the year. there were seven in san jose at this time last year. ( marty ) also in san jose, a firefighter was injured while battling a mobile home fire early this morning. it was first reported around 12-30 this morning. and was out by 1-10 a-m. four people got out safely, but they are without a home this morning. san jose fire says they're staying with family and

friends for the time being. no word on the extent of the fire fighter's injuries nor his condition this morning. ( marty ) the mumps, which is caused by a virus, can be prevented by a vaccine. most people with the mumps recover without serious complications. officials say there are no flood risks along uvas creek. uvas reservoir is at hundred- percent capacity. ( marty ) federal investigators say they expect to have a preliminary report on the san francisco gas-line explosion within the next two weeks... kron four's philippe djegal reports the n-t-s-b is looking into the qualifications of the excavation crew involved in the accident. jennifer homendy/ntsb- "we have conducted nine interviews throughout the day, and will continue to conduct interviews throughout the day tomorrow." the national transportation safety board -- which is investigating the explosion in san francisco's inner richmond district -- returned to shot 40 feet into the air for more than two hours wednesday. jennifer homendy/ntsb- "the ntsb has focused on the need to rapidly shutdown a pipeline since 1970. we've had a number of recommendations. we've issued a number of studies on

sacramento state university has been ordered to stop all activity while the school investigates hazing allegations. a video sent to the student newspaper allegedly shows a member of the frat being gagged and tied to a table while other men laugh and jeer. reporter jessica mensch spoke with students and university leaders about the investigation.

police say they found a man unresponsive in the drive-thru with a gun in his lap. officers say they noticed the vehicle was in "drive" and that the car was also locked. they say they made several efforts to stop the car from moving forward. police say the driver suddenly began to move and they shot him after he reached for the handgun on his lap. the driver was pronounced dead on the scene. ( marty ) in the south bay, park officials say they are closely monitoring the possibility of flooding near uvas creek. millions of gallons of water are spilling into the creek. for a time last week that threatened low-lying areas downstream. that includes thousand trails r-v park where some residents had to be evacuated. the park management says that the safety of it's guests is a top priority. but some park residents worry they could be cut off if a low-lying bridge over the creek were to be washed out.

( marty ) two people were taken to the hospital following a plane crash in monterey bay saturday afternoon. officials say it happened when the single-engine plane crashed while trying to land at the airport in watsonville. there's no word on the cause of the crash. the f-a-a and the n-t-s-b are investigating. ( marty ) in the north bay...a service was held saturday to remember danica kemp. the ten year old died from a brain tumor less than two weeks ago. her classmates at binkley elementary school in santa rosa had been rallying behind her. before her service, friends decorated their cars in danica's memory and brought purple balloons which were later released into the sky. purple was danica's favorite color. two days before danica passed pop superstar meghan trainor tweeted a get well wish for the youngster.

a fraternity at sacramento state university has been ordered to stop all activity while the school investigates hazing allegations. a video sent to the student newspaper allegedly shows a member of the frat being gagged and tied to a table while other men

laugh and jeer. reporter jessica mensch spoke with students and university leaders about the investigation. that video is spreading quickly on campus, and students here are understandably upset.they are now calling on administrators to take swift action.((pkg)) gagged and tied down to a table. as other men watch and hold up cell phones.this video anonymously sent to the sacramento state student newspaper, the state hornetallegedly shows the hazing of a current member of the delta chi fraternity, back in 2017.((beth lesen, dean of students))"i have no tolerance for hazing of any kind. i'm a parent so the safety of every one of our students is what's most important to me. i think about it every single day." it's why dean of students, beth lesen, says the university is investigating. this is just the álatest allegation of hazing among delta chi members.the university first received an anonymous tip on january 26th, showing another instance of potential hazing in a photo.

after seeing this video, the university took immediate action, sending the fraternity this cease and desist letter. ( marty )( marty ) in the east bay, investigators are looking into a deadly plane crash. the f-a-a says the single engine plane went down sometime friday night on mount diablo. but the wreckage and the body were not found until saturday. kron 4's dan thorn has the latest. closes off the area--where just beyond is this--wreckage from a plane crash..a california park ranger says the pilot died sometime friday night after crashing near the peak of mount diablo..a pair hikers

stumbled upon the debris on saturday..sot: at around 2:45 today we had two hikers that walked passed it they could see it the fog lifted long enough for them to be able to see the wreckage and they notified us..state park ranger cameron morrison says the wreckage wasn't discovered earlier because it was in a remote area and the park was already closed. so far it's believed the pilot was the only victim of the fiery crash..morrison was unsure what caused the plane to go down..sot: it could be a mechanical problem it could be a variety of different factors that caused the plane to go down..a spokesman with the faa says the pilot was flying a mooney m20 plane from hayward to lincoln.a family member called the faa to say the plane was overdue for it's scheduled landing. the time of the friday night crash is unknown..sot: we don't know the exact time it went down a lot of unknown at this point..which will factor into the weather as well ( marty ) that was dan thorne reporting. we do not know

the identity of the victim. and the cause of the crash is under investigation. mt. diablo state park rangers say the summit trail will remain closed until the wreckage is removed.. ( marty ) police are investigating a deadly stabbing in the south bay. it happened near the santa clara county fairgrounds. police found a man suffering from at least one stab wound. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. police are still looking into the motive. but they have arrested one man. this is san jose's sixth homicide of the year. there were seven in san jose at this time last year. ( marty ) also in san jose, a firefighter was injured while battling a mobile home fire early this morning. it was first reported around 12-30 this morning. and was out by 1-10 a-m. four people got out safely, but they are without a home this morning. san jose fire says they're staying with family and friends for the time being. no word on the extent of the fire fighter's injuries nor his condition this morning. was even ( marty ) residents in paradise are remembering the people lost in the camp fire. an emotional memorial serivce yesterday at the paradise performing arts center. it's one of the few buildings left standing. representatives from 20 different faiths honored each of the 85 people who lost their lives in the fire. for some... it was a time to let go. for others.. an opportunity to connect with others who went through the same tragedy. ( marty ) the camp fire destroyed almost 14-thousand homes and more than 500 businesses.

( marty ) an endangered sumatran tiger was mauled to death at the london zoo friday- it happened moments after the tiger was introduced to a potential mate for the first time. asim, seen here in these photos, was introduced to melati. melati was a female tiger and long-term resident of the zoo. zoo keepers hoped that the pair would breed in the future. the london zoo acknowledged that while introductions of big cats are always considered "high risk," experts had observed "positive signs" and deemed it to be the "right time" to introduce the pair. ( marty ) new this morning...police in vallejo are investigating after officers shot and killed a man outside of a taco bell restaurant. it happend just after 10:30 last night on admiral callaghan lane. police say they found a man unresponsive in the drive-thru with a gun in his lap. officers say they noticed the vehicle was in "drive" and that the car was also locked. they say they made several efforts to stop the car from moving forward. police say the driver suddenly began to move and they shot him after he reached for the handgun on

his lap. the driver was pronounced dead on the scene. ( marty ) federal investigators say they expect to have a preliminary report on the san francisco gas-line explosion within the next two weeks... kron four's philippe djegal reports the n-t-s-b is looking into the qualifications of the excavation crew involved in the accident. jennifer homendy/ntsb- "we have conducted nine interviews throughout the day, and will continue to conduct interviews throughout the day tomorrow." the national transportation safety board -- which is investigating the explosion in san francisco's inner richmond district -- returned to the scene saturday where a flame shot 40 feet into the air for more than two hours wednesday. jennifer homendy/ntsb- "the ntsb has focused on the need to rapidly shutdown a pipeline since 1970. we've had a number of recommendations. we've issued a number of studies on the need to shutdown the flow of gas and hazardous liquid quickly to minimize impact." despite the san francisco fire department determining

the explosion was accidental... the federal bureau of investigations, california public utilities commission and california division of the occupational safety and health administration are also looking into it.jennifer homendy/ntsb- "we also visited pg&e's pipeline control center in san ramon where we were able to see what the pipeline controllers can see on their screen."nats- "you know, that one is a little. this one? yeah. that's a great frame." meanwhile, local businesses are struggling.nats- keith wicker owns capricorn framing on geary boulevard... just 150 feet down from where the explosion happened.keith wicker/owner- "it's pretty tough, cause we've taken a loss this last week because of this." wicker says since the explosion... business has nodown... it's grinded to a stretching hault.keith wicker/owner- "and, i know, um, the shop next door, the restaurant derm, they're, they've closed. happened. and, then they

didn't have, uh, gas service either." he says since the sidewalk outside his other thtenants and other business owners... there's hardly any foot traffic. wicker says his store is essentially closed -- only serving customers like charles symes (sighmz) who made orders before the gas line was ruptured wednesday... when a contractor with mastec network solutions accidently hit the line -- while installing a fiber optic cable. charles symes/customer- "the thing that is pulling the whole neighborhood together is our sense of loss, especially for those that lost their homes. you know, the apartment complex is probably densely populated, and, um, you know tragedy comes like that out of nowhere, and, uh, we all mourn for stuff like that." the building the hong kong lounge was red-tagged... another yellow tagged . but fortunately no one was injured. in san francisco, philippe djegal, kron four news. ( marty ) in the south bay, re closely monitoring the possibility of flooding near uvas creek. millions of gallons of water are spilling into the creek. for a time last week that threatened low-lying areas downstream. that includes thousand trails r-v park where some residents had to be evacuated. the

park management says that the safety of it's guests is a top priority. but sompark residents worry they could be cut off if a low-lying bridge over the creek were to be washed out. ( marty ) county officials say there are no flood risks along uvas creek. uvas reservoir is at hundred- percent ( marty ) san francisco police are investigating the discovery of a body in the bay near pier 43. police say the body of a woman was found around seven saturday morning. but they arent releasing information on whether foul play is suspected. ( marty ) a fraternity at sacramento state university has been ordered to stop all activity while the school investigates hazing allegations. a video sent to the student newspaper allegedly shows a member of

the frat being gagged and tied to a table while other men laugh and jeer. reporter jessica mensch spoke with students and university leaders about the investigation. that video is spreading quickly on campus, and students here are understandably upset.they are now calling on administrators to take swift action.((pkg)) gagged and tied down to a table. as other men watch and hold up cell phones.this video anonymously sent to the sacramento state student newspaper, the state hornetallegedly shows the hazing of a current member of the delta chi fraternity, back in 2017.((beth lesen, dean of students))"i have no tolerance for hazing of any kind. i'm a parent so the safety of every one of our students is what's most important to me. i think about it every single day." it's why dean of students, beth lesen, says the university is investigating. this is just the álatest allegation of hazing among delta chi members.the university first received an anonymous tip on january 26th, showing another instance of potential hazing in a photo. after seeing this video, the university took immediate

action, sending the fraternity this cease and desist letter. ( marty ) an arizona man who says he was tased nearly a dozen times during a traffic stop is accusing the officers of exessive force and torture, his lawyer says the surveillance video --- which was recently released --- speaks for itself. victor blackwell has more. july 20-17 in a suburban phoenix, arizona motel parking lot... glendale police approach a car for an alleged traffic violation...johnny wheatcroft is in the passenger seat...another man is driving. wheatcroft's two children and their mother are in the back seat.police body cam video -- given to a cnn affiliate by wheatcroft's attorneys -- shows how things quickly escalated...natsofficer: "don't reach into your bag man" johnny wheatcroft: "oh, ok i'm sorry."officer: "you said you had no id. i don't want you reaching in there. what's your name?"johnny wheatcroft: "why am i even being asked?"this is what happened next.nats officer: "relax, keep your foot in there."johnny

you!"wheatcroft is put into a squad car and booked on felony aggravated assault on an officer.the lawsuit says wheatcroft spent months in jail before those charges were dropped.wheatcroft claims in the federal lawsuit that officers used excessive force and torture during the arrest violating his constitutional rights.since the lawsuit was filed, glendale police have released new surveillance video of the incident --which appears to show a woman in the car throwing something at the other officer -- apparently knocking him to the ground. ( marty ) that was victor blakwell reporting. wheatcroff's wife pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on a police officer for throwing that object. glendale police say the officer's use of the taser, once wheatcroft was in handcuffs, violates their policies. the officer was suspended for three days. on the kron 4 morning news...it's on a buckt list for a lot of travellers....we'll take a trip to alaska....

conditions and guests' abilities. they made it work for all levels of paddlers - what we were able to do and see made it and enjoyable experience for seasoned pros and beginners. ($175 per person anyway you see, or look at a glacier is impressive, but perspective change everything. mendenhall glacr favorite of mine because it's so easy to access. park the r walk, there it is, right

in front of you.but you can also arrive by helicopter, and go for a walk on top of it. layers are key on an adventure like this, but you don't have to worry as much about shoes. they'll give you special boots that fit right on top of your shoes, so you have better footing on the ice.. that reaches about 300-feet down from where you land. if you're thirsty, you can scoop up some tasty, clear water. yes, it is cold, so be ready for the cold hands that come after. it took me a bit of time to get feeling back, but i'm a wimp when it comes to cold. at $365 per person, this is a pricey couple of hours, but it is an adventure you'll be talking about - bragging about - for some time. when you get to skagway, the chosen mode of transportation should be the train. and you'll need your passport for this one, so be prepared. the white pass & yukon route

bay...a service was held saturday to remember danica kemp. the ten year old died from a brain tumor less than two weeks ago. her classmates at binkley elementary school in santa rosa had been rallying behind her. before her service, friends decorated their cars in danica's memory and brought purple balloons which were later released into the sky. purple was danica's favorite color. two days before danica passed pop

superstar meghan trainor tweeted a get well wish for the youngster. ( marty ) hundreds of prom dresses in danger of being destroyed by the camp fire were donated to students in sacramento. the 'vida de oro foundation' rounded up six- hundred dresses... all of which were saved from the fire back in november. each dress was rescued from a chico based on line retailer. they had to evacute... and then needed to find a place for those dresses. ( marty ) depending on what's left, the foundation may hold another free dress event in the future. ( marty ) all eyes will be on the music industry tonight for the 61-st annual grammy awards. this year, women artists are front and center
