napa county -- firefighters are battling the ink fire burning near pope valley road, just northeast of calistoga. so far the fire has scorched around 50 acres and at last report was 75 percent contained. kron 4's gayle ong was at the scene and brings us the latest. firefighting crews from cal fire-napa county fire are battling a vegetation fire which as of 4:45 p.m. saturday had burned about 25 acres off of pope valley road six miles northeast of calistoga, firefighters reported on social media. dubbed the "ink fire," it was first reported about 2:35 p.m. saturday. the blaze, as of 4:45 p.m., was no longer spreading, firefighters said. no other information about the wildfire was available late saturday afternoon. pacific gas and electric had turned power off at about 6:15 a.m. saturday to areas of unincorporated napa county near lake berryessa deemed at high fire risk spurred by high temperatures, winds and dry fuel. the site of the ink fire is about 10 miles northwest of

the spanish flat resort on lake berryessa. ( marty ) in the east bay --- authorities think a lawnmower may have caused a fire that burned about 10 acres saturday east of clayton. the fire was reported about 11-25 saturday morning north of marsh creek road. dry conditions and strong wind combined to help the fire spread quickly. no one was injured and no structures were damaged. investigators think the person running the lawnmower touched the hot muffler to dry grass --- sparking the fire... but it's still under investigation. ( marty ) and in yolo county -- there is a fire burning north of lake berryessa -- close to the napa county border. the fire

has grown to 17-hundred acres and there is no word on containment yet. the smoke from this fire can be seen in marin and sonoma counties.. this is an interactive map showing the evacuation areas.. the red area indicates a mandatory evacuation zone. the yellow area indicates an advisory zone. ( marty ) the sand fire, burning north of lake berryessa caused a p-g and e power shut off for around 27- thousand customers. crews are inspecting power lines to make sure they are safe before restoring power. pg and e will open two community resource centers this morning at 8 for people affected by the power shutoff in the sierra foothills. one center is in grass valley --- the other in oroville. you can find more information on kron4 dot com. morning... the burden continues for cancer patients even after they've beat the disease. melisa raney has a look at the growing costs of medical bills. just about everyone who has experienced an illness of some sort knows that doctors and medications can cost a lot! you can blow through a couple hundred dollars just trying to treat an infection. but what about prolonged and invasive treatments for cancer? what are the costs then?well according to a report published by the us centers for disease control and prevention, approximately one quarter of cancer survivors say they have trouble paying their medical bills... and had to borrow money, accrue debt, or file for bankruptcy.and one third said just worrying about their medical costs caused psychological distress.the average out of pocket spending each year for patients post-

cancer was about $1000, compared to $622 for those without a cancer history.one theory as to why these bills keep piling up, is that cancer survivors are more likely to utilize the health care system. experts say it's important that cancer patients talk to their health care and insurance providers before starting treatment to understand what they will be facing financially. this can help the patient create a plan going forward.for today's health minute, i'm melisa raney. ( marty ) the world health organization released some startling figures on sexually transmitted diseases. researchers found that there are more than one-million new cases of s-t-d's every day-- on average one in every 25 people around the world has at least one s-t-d. the report concludes that people are taking risks with their sexuality and reproductive health. the figures were collected worldwide from men and women between the ages of 15 and 49. as we head to break, here's a live look outside...

working to contain a fast moving wildfire in the "tonto national forest." the "mountain fire" has burned more than 7-thousand acres since it was first reported friday afternoon. just like the fires here in the bay area --- officials say the strong winds are making it difficult to fight and contain. officials say they belive this fire was man-caused. ( marty ) a fire captain was killed in a single car accident this weekend. cal fire tweeted that ástacy

hamiltoná died saturday morning in merced county. hamilton was a air tactical group supervisor... hamilton began his career with cal fire in 2006 and previously served in the united states forest service. the 49-year-old leaves behind his wife and two teenage sons. governor gavin newsom released this statement. it reads in part -- "on behalf of all californians, jennifer and i extend our condolences to captain stacy hamilton's family, friends and colleagues in this difficult time. it's the work of brave firefighters like stacy that keeps our communities safe and we are deeply grateful for his service." ( marty ) in the east bay -- the pride flag is now flying at emeryville city hall. l-g-b-t-q elected officials and community leaders raised the flag yesterday. state senator scott weiner tweeted this photo of the event. organizers say it is an effort to show solidarity with the l-g-b-t-q community and show that emeryville is a community where everyone is welcome.

last week, city leaders voted unanimously to hang a second pride flag. ( marty ) it was chaos at the washington d-c pride parade this weekend after many people thought they heard gun shots. one person was arrested for possession of a handgun --- but police do not believe any shots were actually fired. several people were injured while running away -- they were treated for minor injures. the parade ended at that point because of the chaos . ( marty ) police are reviewing surveillance video and trying to figure out what caused those sounds. ( marty ) president trump is celebrating the newly- announced deal between the u-s and mexico to avoid tariffs on mexican goods. but new

( marty ) ( marty ) ( marty ) in the east bay... there's a new mural honoring oscar grant. its been 10 years since he was fatally shot by a bart police officer. since then, the community has pushed bart to develop an independent auditors office, and to hired more directors of color.. kron 4's noelle bellow has the story. i believe there will be a sense of peace in this place, a sense of healing in this place a sense of love in this placefruitvale station -- the place where oscar grant's life was cut short - will now forever hold his image, and name.i'm gratful that through

oscars death he still lives on every time someone comes to this station, they'll see his name and they'll see his face. it's been 10 years since a bart police officer shot and killed the 22 year old. grant's mother wanda johnson says working with bart to create the mural and name the street across the platform for her son is a sign of growth. even with bart it has caused the board members to see the injustice that was done and to want to rectify and this is just one of the ways they're doing that and i'm grateful. its about this young man, but its also about our understanding of the wrongs we committed and honoring a movement of peace, diginity collaboration and healing lateefah simon is the bart director for district 7 - she says simply working with oscar grant's family illustrates the entire community's process of healingone of our employees killed an unarmed man and left a lil girl fatherless. so there's a lot ot atone for and heal and this mural is the beginning of us continuing to be in linestep with our communitysaturday's unveiling

( marty ) riders were stuck on the new batman ride yesterday in vallejo for a few minutes. the attraction opened at the theme park two weeks ago. still no word on what caused the problem. the ride was stuck for about 15 minutes. the person who shot this video says -- many rides at the park were having problems yesterday. part of the ásmart trainá larkspur extension project.. the extension includes 2 miles of track connecting san rafael and larkspur. construction of the track is underway at the san rafael transit center.. there are detours in place to get on 101, but police say it's best to avoid the area. its expected to reopen tomorrow. -- firefighters are battling the ink fire burning near pope valley road, just northeast of calistoga. so far the fire has scorched around 50 acres and at last report was 75 percent contained. kron 4's gayle ong was at the scene and brings us the latest. firefighting crews from cal fire-napa county fire are battling a vegetation fire which as of 4:45 p.m. saturday had burned about 25 acres off of pope valley road six miles northeast of calistoga, firefighters reported on social media. dubbed the "ink fire," it was first reported about 2:35 p.m. saturday. the blaze, as of 4:45 p.m., was no longer spreading, firefighters said. no other information about the wildfire was available late saturday afternoon. pacific gas and electric had turned power off at about 6:15 a.m. saturday to areas of unincorporated napa county near lake berryessa deemed at high fire risk spurred by high temperatures, winds and dry fuel. the site of the ink fire is about 10 miles northwest of the spanish flat resort on lake berryessa.
