lens yeah. my dad just had cataract surgery. he had complained for quite a while about a cloudy vision and wasn't as sharp as it used right. >>and sometimes it comes on so gradually they don't really notice it until it's really debilitating right. yeah and then when they have surgery they're just taking the badlands out and putting in an artificial one one and it's a very simple surgery from what i understand really us yet so no one should have to suffer with it right. >>so let's let's talk a little bit about about people who are at risk for cataracts. >>so people at risk, you know not wearing sunglasses throughout the lifetime. uvb radiation from sunlight is is very debilitating so it's really bad for your eyes, so you know start doing that at a young age. you know don't wait till year old in. >>year. i said you know it's interesting as you'll be out and about and you'll see children small children in strollers with the sunglasses and you're going to think oh how cute right actual their parents are doing a good job

of protecting their rights are yes and think about it too when you're driving to hand those glasses on to get up so that's that's number one of us and has diabetes is the other one. yet we talk about diabetes way that plan and when you have a lot of blood sugar low blood sugar with proteins so it's not unusual to think that yeah they have this conditions are there's a good at cholesterol as well. another protein that's that's another risk that area of high cholesterol. eye injury. will also help. impact see ok but a lot of you know even their of so risk factors can even go through all of them on the right, those are some of the key and we'll just how prevalent it is 30 million people. yes, so so it is out so what can people do besides the sunglasses what are other options that we could. >>the lifestyle so eating a
9:50 am
healthy diet so there are 2 particular pigments in plants. >>karsh shown to be very helpful for preventing cataracts, actually found that lee teen and see us and thin reduce the need for having cataract surgery by 20%. well yes, so that is at a very significant, so something as simple as eating an impact on your their vision and let me guess fruits and vegetables. red orange pigments and and when they accumulate in your retina and then in your lands so they're kind of i call an internal sunglasses all so don't have your own built and so he does have to eat those those pigments so the number one and a food actually leafy greens volcano. red yellow it's just that they have a really uh. it which is green,
