questions surrounding what actually happened inside this house that led to a child's death police say a 13 month-old boy was found dead inside this house on derek drive saturday afternoon neighbors stunned, this is a first for this neighborhood police arrested 29 year-old patrick o'neal for murder o'neill was found unconscious lying next to the child. detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death officers found drug paraphernalia and signs of recent drug use next to where the child was found. yeah that's bad the toll was formal. you know, but. >>i would even heard of any drug activity down there. >>you know it happened just before one in the afternoon after a welfare check at the home a woman discovered the child and o'neill both unresponsive o'neill was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. paramedics tried to save the child's life. but he died at the scene police say there were no signs of physical violence but believe drugs were a factor in the child's death. >>o'neill will be booked into jail once he's medically

cleared from the hospital, reporting in santa rosa gil on. >>now to the east bay this morning emergency crews recovered a body from san leandro bay jet skiers saw the body along the mlk regional shoreline near do little drive around noon on saturday. the oakland fire crews recovered the body from the water and no details other details have been released so far. the santa cruz man convicted of defrauding victims and government agencies and more than $20,000 was sentenced to 4 years in prison. karen kiefer was convicted of 20 felonies and 9 misdemeanors against 11 individual victims. prosecutors say that he stole at least $15,000 as part of a rental scam that left some victims without a home. kiefer also falsified welfare and food stamp applications for more than $7,000 in benefit. one person was killed in a hit and run near the ashby bart station in berkeley saturday

night police got the call of the body underneath a vehicle at the intersection of adeline street nationally avenue about 10 30 last night. the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. investigators not yet released a description of the vehicle involved and they've made no arrests as of this morning. a small shop owner and employee were both arrested in fairfield after a month long police investigation. they worked at the smoke shop and more snow store that's on texas street. police say it had the legal thc cartridges for vape pens and you teen butane hash oil and more than $14,000 in cash. the investigation started with a tip to police at the smoke shop was illegally selling products and also selling tobacco products to juveniles fairfield does not allow the sale of marijuana within the city limits. and coming up on kron 4 news weekend. we have some dramatic video of a kayaker coming to the rescue of a stranded boater we'll show you how that chance encounter most likely saved the man's life. and then say
