surgery with these higher levels of crp i say interesting so is the crp a blood test, yes, it's a blood test icing and so often times you'll have your lip that panel, then the cholesterol along with ecr with the crp and everybody does right now is is this something that the patients should know where the doctor should know. >>to to administer this extra blood test summer. >>some i've talked to some doctors, it's not a standard test that's given so the more information that the patient us and see you asked the doctor for it ok looking for if you're looking for cardiovascular disease in particular or that had the information you're looking for that high sensitivity crp it also there's a difference. yes that's a difference and it's looking for these that low level we talk about inflammation all the time yes, it's that low leg of persistent inflammation that they're looking. >>so who are the people who

should who should looking at at taking this test still people that. moderate risk. >>they are a 10 to 20%. chance of having a heart attack within 10 years. that means maybe they had a heart attack one time, their cholesterol levels are not good. they have diabetes. hypertension so they're law caters and that would lead, yes, so that could increase your risk. so younger men and women with a moderate risk so we're talking younger 15 younger for men, okay, 16 and younger for women. >>and that's a moderate older man and it would be over 50 and women over 60, but no cardiovascular disease history, no car. kidney disease. no diabetes. this covers a wide the one it doesn't cover is the people that are at high risk. already
7:51 am
going through some type of aggressive intervention. >>oh i see so they've already had something very similar. the tsa stay there they're already covered ok so so the risk of heart of our a heart attack and the h s crp tell us about that okay so. >>when when you are. you know what happens is set when you are. artes get damaged we talk about cortisol sodium and all those things that damage at inner lining the arteries that increases inflammation. so that that's what we're looking for so this is not a test for heart disease per se. but the inflammation that is associated with this heart disease so this is something that is of could be a very strong indicator. >>to a that and then patients
7:52 am
doctor yes that we need to be more aggressive in treating right. it's a great base line to have. the more information that the patients have and the better and those are the levels that we're looking at it you're at low risk if set your crp that the high sensitivity crp levels less than one. a moderately between one to 3.9 9. and you're at high risk if you're that crp level is above 3 ok so this is something that people who might be at risk should know next time they visit the family history to the places to it as well exactly yeah. karen thank you so much about this yes to have to be right back.

>>offer morning news, good morning, everybody and oh yes, fog quite dense the shot coming in from sfo. delays were told only just over an hour, the seems like a be a lot more but to see some shrubbery right about there. basically nothing else you can see that will seal but later on as the morning. progresses we get more backup delays and all of this lick observatory another example to show you there is sun out there this is of course high atop out hamilton so we're above it all this point, nice blue skies to be contend with 50's around much of the perimeter of the bay we've got 40 is up to the north bay, 52 meanwhile for san jose across the state we expect highs today in the central valley in the upper 70's near about 80 sacramento at 7660's cover much of the central coast with mid-eighties down the so cal. so we've been looking for rain on our future here and there is a possible opening coming
8:45 am
towards the end of the week we've got some scattered clouds start to bill by midweek and maybe as early as thursday evening as we approach into the weekend. the civil system might bring us potentially that was shot of rain but this is way upstream we don't know that's gonna hold together. here's another one for you too by monday. see if that also holds together as well. so let's get to the 4 zone forecast see what's going on for your saturday 62 san francisco, keep those 60's along the coast in upper 50's again boggs going to be the big issue. how warm we get today, 58 pacific and also half moon bay, lower 60's covered the northern end of the peninsula down to the south. we're in pretty much 60's territory for the peninsula even down south mountain view maybe 70 but 67 palo alto where would city san carlos at 65 here in the 70's hiding out in the south bay, 73 of san jose santa clara at 72, 71 cupertino and saratoga 73 upper 60's also the east bay shoreline to the south 76 for pleasanton livermore 77 74
8:46 am
for walnut creek looks like 70 per castro valley, san leandro at 67 conquered 74. many shows 71 with nap at 7477 for sonoma and santa rosa 78 there those 50's off to the coast again fog is the issue here depending on when it clears of that lingers around too long. that will be problematic check out the 7 day forecast a variety ok sunny going on tomorrow get a little warmer but a warmer for the veterans on monday looks great lots of sunshine. then as the week progresses i was showing you that system and we may see rain potentially earlier than friday, not clear on timing and if we're going to get it but towards the end of the week, we know this change is happening much cooler temperatures and scattered clouds with little shot of rain. for your health this morning studies show that of the people who've had a heart attack only 50% had high black a bad cholesterol levels. >>another blood test however could determine your chance of having heart disease in our health expert karen i want now is here to talk about that new
8:47 am
test. yes, yes, i have heard about this this erp crp is what is called c reactive protein in. >>that's a good team. that's synthesized in your liver and released when in response to inflammation in your body all i know in your body it doesn't tell you where it is, but it does says your body is inflamed. >>and that's the indicator for doctors to say we need to do this test. >>well and you know it's when you when you are inflamed who are at higher risk of heart disease all i see yes okay, so tell us more about when arteries are inflamed the risk for not only heart disease, but also heart attack or heart attack harbor did a study and they found that you are 4 times more likely to die from heart disease when your crp levels are elevate i say and as you mentioned heart stroke is well in hand and then and also more likely to also have some type of procedure flake a stent put in court passed surgery with these higher
8:48 am
levels of crp i say it's really interesting. so is the crp a blood test, yes, it's a blood test icing and so often times you'll have your lip and panel, then the cholesterol along with ecr with the crp and everybody does right now is is this something that the patients should know where the doctor should know. >>to to administer this extra blood test summer. >>some i've talked to some doctors, it's not a standard test that's given so the more information that the patient had us and sue asked the doctor for it ok looking for if you're looking for cardiovascular disease in particular or that type information you're looking for that high sensitivity crp it's also there's a difference. yes that's a difference and it's looking for these that low level we talk about inflammation all the time yes, it's that tow level of persistent inflammation that they're looking. >>so who are the people who
8:49 am
should who should looking at at taking this test still people that. moderate risk. >>they are a 10 to 20%. chance of having a heart attack within 10 that means maybe they had a heart attack one time, their cholesterol levels are not good. they have diabetes. hypertension so they're 8 ers and that would lead, yes, so that could increase your risk. so younger men and women with a moderate risk so we're talking younger 15 younger for men, ok, 60 in younger for for women and that's a moderate risk com. >>older man and it would be over 50 and women over 60, but no cardiovascular disease history, no car a chronic. a kidney disease. no diabetes. this covers a the one it doesn't cover is the people that are high risk. that's
8:50 am
because said people letter. already going through some type of aggressive intervention. >>oh i see so they've already had something very similar. the tsa stay there they're already covered ok so so the risk of heart of our a heart attack and the h s crp tell us about that. >>okay so. when when you are. you know what happens is set when you are. artes get damaged we talk about court is always us a sodium and all those think that damage at inner lining the arteries that increases inflammation. so that that's what we're looking for so this is not a test for heart disease per se. but the inflammation that is associated with the heart disease. so this is something that is of could be a very strong indicator. >>to a that and then patients doctor yes that we need to be
8:51 am
more aggressive in treating right. it's a great base line to have the more information that the patients have the better and those are the levels that we're looking at it. >>you're at low risk if that your crp that the high sensitivity crp levels less than one. a moderately between one to 3.9. and you're at high risk if you're that crp level is above 3 ok so this is something that people who who might be at risk should know next time they visit the family history place into it as well exactly >>karen thank you so much about this yes to have to be right back. at lowe's, we don't just honor our military on veteran's day. over the past 5 years, our military discount has saved military families nearly 4 billion dollars. and through our partnerships with the uso, amvets, and operation finally home, we honor our military every day.

9:00 am
advisory has technically expired still take show that the out. take some caution and driving it even getting into some of those inland valleys to we saw this morning to be repeated tomorrow morning too by the case a lot of folks have a holiday weekend. it looks like at least the morning's mornings, the fog bound, i think will be cleared a little quicker tomorrow than we were today and i think the coastal areas. problematic and at least the early afternoon, keep it some of that ground fog and kind of low lying clouds around little bit here is the golden gate bridge again no surprise it's shrouded in fog and that will probably be an issue a little bit later on the day today and tomorrow. lick observatory blue skies and this is what we're seeing so many places elsewhere because that's what's happening aloft. it's clear skies about the fog at mixes up pretty quickly is pretty optimistic at 1230 with most areas even of the coast looking good except places like point re it comes back tonight, so if you're out about late at 9 10 o'clock at night there's your fog for san francisco, the east bay

9:15 am
shorts underneath those clouds. there's anything we have a civilization entirely we're in actually we always are in a valley here in the bay it just flooded valley really during the time of a the little of the last ice age and so forth that was all dry except for just a little river so. now it's all flooded, so it's still valley there in the fog still collects as we know this fog being very intense. this also covering a lot of ground territory we're going to see a little bit a repeat performance tomorrow. there you see golden gate you don't but if they're there to sell their promise he was there. so that's the golden gate doing its thing as well. we swing it around things almost forgot what this was, but this is the shot coming in from timber on again the golden gate is way off to the distance, but you can see all of this fog again flooding across one other shot to from u c berkeley at least we can see some sun coming up here in the east bay hills but again into that valley of the bay. all filled up early fog clearing 70's happening in london, 60's for the bay, then
9:16 am
for the coast we have this fog that somewhat stubborn we'll take a little longer to kind of mix out today i think tomorrow will be a little luck or to see mostly sunny skies, cooking here and then next week we start off warm on monday great for the veterans and all that and then cooling off some scattered clouds getting your by midweek and question mark, a shower near maybe towards the end of the week something to look out for temperatures we've got the 50's on the board 40's up here to the north bay again fog is what kind of slowing us down a little bit getting some good solid heating. at the surface, here's the players now i think of this kind of in terms of vertically not just horizontally but pretend like this is us and what's going on. here's the big piece of bread on the top that's the high. and it provides a lot of falling air saw this fog collects at the bottom and its stock overnight so the sun joins us heats the ground and then mixes with some of that dry air aloft particularly and then we take care of the fog but it's a little slow to do that today and tomorrow 62 are high san francisco oakland, 63, 73 for san jose going to
9:17 am
see a lot better clearing happening in oakland probably later on this morning high temperatures today, mid 70's across the greater bay. inland also part of the north bay to santa rosa to 78 and 73 for san jose marty all right dave thanks a lot. in the north bay in sonoma county lives for people who live in healdsburg are finally getting back to normal. the city was evacuated for a week because of the kincade fire that also destroyed homes and businesses in the area. kron four's gayle ong was at the city's official welcome home party. >>these wildfires are the new normal. well folks here are just happy to see this tight knit community getting back to normal. >>get back together. >>celebrated its welcome home party friday night at its got on my as lot 11 this town and together as a people pulling for each other is really meat your neighbor or more and some people down the street which
