>>morning thanks for joining us on kron 4 news weekend what a beautiful sight from the embarcadero camera this morning clear skies, plenty of sunshine things starting to dry out just a little bit. hi everybody i'm marty gonzales meteorologist dave spahr as here with the forecast saying all morning, it's looking good around the immediate based on areas that has yet to clear out a little basically on balance this afternoon, it looks like a nice little break for everybody nice little bout of rain happening tonight, it just drizzle type rain and so forth not everybody is going to get all the way and then sunday and monday looks like cold dry out in earnest to get a couple days catching up
9:01 am
great yeah, not a real flooding occurring exception local nuisance type flooding and so forth. that's because the rain hasn't been put to keep very heavy and that's good news there's been kind of that stratus light rain that's helpful we really could use the break all we have to show at the golden gate opening up very nicely they're dark blue skies off to the background, not too much away of fog and by the way i did mention rain happening a little tonight or drizzle light showers we're going to probably do less the way of fog tomorrow that we saw even today so that's good on that front and then getting further away the shot from timber on. there's a going get off to the distance some of the cloud cover still covering up parts of the east bay though as we speak now, there's the stratus exiting stage. kind of noting maybe some late morning sprinkles going on in the peninsula in south bay. but on balance today, getting a nice break. but this little system up here this is for this evening and tonight being the sunset so later probably be after quote sunset the late this afternoon and into this evening, most bay area temperatures are in the 50's some chilly 40's up to the north bay but highs expected to be in 50's
9:02 am
territory, everywhere. given a few clouds in the skies for this afternoon. looking a little bit better it looks like for tomorrow on that front will take a little inspection of that forecast what goes on into into early next week marty all right dave thanks a lot. let's get to the news this hour happening now in san francisco, a partnership to get guns off the street, it's a gun buyback event. >>that brings together a nonprofit organization along with sfpd all in an effort to reduce gun violence in neighborhoods in the city kron four's christina tadros been there all morning long acree she has the latest for us christine good >>good morning and it's definitely good morning for a lot of the people here with united players. it's a nonprofit organization that is putting on this event this morning it's over here on the howard in san francisco and the event started off at 08:00am and let me tell you it is been a constant stream ever since then actually before 08:00am very had about half a dozen cars, lined up ready to go here with the police barricades as well as about a dozen people waiting in mind
9:03 am
and the whole purpose again is to get guns off the street also out of houses and what united player says out of the hands of utley unfortunately cause harm and so there's been a lot of people hear that again we're ready with guns and they just found in their home ready for the buyback program office see there's an incentive if you want to go ahead and get back on out of your home or family member's home as well and so a united players actually their whole purpose is to really help educate the youth mentor people here in the city as well as to really radiate positivity especially for a lot of people who have gone different traumatic elements in their life actually here without every butler and he ate ever how do you come join me right here hide in this morning will carry yourself good now every you are a member of united players and you're also facilitator groups also now helping mentor people how did you ultimately get involved with organization. well when i was incarcerated i had a buddy that came out before me and his name is a can of green now when he was he told me man i want to work

much you love this cause how much you love being a part of much every appreciate it. and just a reminder to everyone, the buy-back event is going on until 12 noon today there are actually 3 other locations across the greater bay area you can also partake in this which should put all those addresses online right now over at kron 4 dot com actually something else i really did want to mention here you know as you drive down howard you're going to be seeing you know police barricades as well as different cones here. >>but you're also going to be seeing all the members of united players wearing different church whether it's him or whether it's pocked with large white lettering and has. cars drive up for us as people like a they will usually say we've got a hero walking right driving up so that's really the feeling out here and that's what this organization considers people who are giving back to their guns and actually i don't think you can hear that but 2 people just said here a la king is there more people coming to get rid of their kinds of this morning and also

to tell and just within the first hour they received over 80 guns within the first hour and there are still 3 more hours to go for now reporting in san francisco christina teatro already been a success. thanks a lot christine for that live report from san francisco. >>in the east bay, a man is in jail this morning following an hour's long standoff in fremont yesterday. police say the man committed a home invasion robbery then barricaded himself on top of a 5 story building. it all started about 10 30 friday morning when according to police the man broke into a woman's apartment assaulted her and then ran away with her belongings. the woman was hurt, but said she didn't require medical treatment. the man ended up on top of an unfinished building we spoke with the building superintendent who says the man tried to blend in with construction workers at the building but it didn't take long for police to find him. >>so my guys are actually getting ready to pour concrete. and we couldn't do that so everybody cleared the building at the request of the police and then everybody just

stood out here for 6 hours waiting for him to leave so they can go get their tools and go home. >>i well that standoff ended with a man telling officers. he would comply with their orders. he was then safely taken into custody. the man was armed with a large knife and a torch he's now undergoing a mental health evaluation before he's booked on any charges. and coming up on kron 4 news weekend the bay area beauty salon hit by thieves now police are hoping the surveillance video. >>will help stop and we're about across for

9:16 am
good coming back home on sunday. and everything so you can enjoy what already had up there. there is more though to come rain for us in this weekend forecast and also up in the mouth more snow in the sierra course you here's who said i to sieber what about it ever on that's right and look at the puppy off in the distance. yeah, so it's a nice improved picture. but it's not universal across the bay area. these blue skies will start to spread off towards the east as the day starts to progress bit of a breeze that we have but they'll be a bit of a building of those winds looks like overnight tonight as we do have another bout of some. showers will say in some drizzle to have the had it's not going to be a lot in terms of quantitatively but that is blue skies and we're going to go for it on sunday as well future cast for this is what we want to note. interesting little line here this is after sunset because it's 6.30 in the mountain resort, so yeah will be another bout of some snow going on at night tonight. but then improving for your sunday look at that sunday morning already looking good and across the bay you're in a return of nice sunshine as well, and we'll probably
9:17 am
see more of that on monday even into a good portion of tuesday, although the clouds are starting coaching. ahead of our next system one mentioned the winds just briefly on all of this we have a nice breeze going on today for the most part then tonight kind of picks up a little bit so kind of breezy and throw some of that drizzle around a little bit there so might have unpleasant feel to it. and temperatures will hold in the 50's and upper 40's with that tomorrow though we get sunshine and minus those wins they won't be as active. so here's how it looks like in the broad perspective. we've had what's left over the subtropical jet still kind of streaming over the stratus clouds but on top of us. that's the light rain showers in the drizzle. we've had than upstream. this is tonight's action, nice break. the cloud cover re encroaches again tuesday provide be somewhat of an overcast day and then tuesday night. it looks like the rain tries to return and the overnight now i said earlier we haven't seen clearing all over the entire bay this a sunni-shia see kind of the gloomy doomy skies going on. so a few scattered showers left over this morning
9:18 am
but afternoon clearing including in the inland areas too. tomorrow, partly cloudy but better clearing going on with temperatures in the 50's mid 50's of that and then for next week showers return late tuesday, maybe for the evening commute as well to look out for rain on your wednesday and then scattered showers to finish off the week. looks like sunyay are receiving weather friday looks be pretty good. but another dose of rain as we get into saturday well the long range forecast models free tibet, 56 san francisco oakland, 57 58 to check in for san jose across the wider bay temperatures holding pretty much mid 50's marty i dave sounds good. thank you. in san mateo county san bruno police say they caught this millbrae woman thursday night carrying almost 3 pounds of marijuana in her car. >>officers also found evidence that she was selling it as well queenie a cheese being held in the san mateo county jail. close to $9 million in cannabis products nearly

i'm really not a problem, no stratus going on here so that's good fantastic inland. it's a different story, they're still working on that in some spots but see a decent forecast for today. we're looking for a nice little break in the rain it will return a little bit for recall this evening, after sunset, but judge set the clock where the sun sets early now so really evening is not late at night. that's when the bulk of the rain will happen will have some breezy like conditions but they will make up for to get on sunday. that's pretty so if you're heading out for dinner tonight take the umbrella definitely are preparing to be some rain to interfere with that all right with outdoor seating here's sfo going on no delays we've been noticing some breezy conditions camera shaken just a touch. and the bay bridge is blue about that. so anyway uh what i want to show you on this here is the fog or the lack thereof we've had very good visibility levels really start to pick up some of surface moisture. you have rain like that sometimes that could be a problem not really so much today how about tomorrow because i did mention that the rain will kind of
9:46 am
come back again a little bit. not too bad here looks like by about 6 or 07:00am this is about the sunrise time thereabouts and it looks like mostly clear skies are mostly clear conditions from the fog a bit a bit around the in the coast in the north bay in the peninsula little pockets here and there but not the intense fog and as we can get for me to even a little minor rain event so that's off to a good start and as you can see all the way to the good morning that we get as well. so in our satellite picture. this is what's upstream. this is tonight. again a little bout of some little pulsating rain kind of comes and goes comes and goes very little quantitatively with all of that. temperatures first the across the state were near about 60. for the central valley, 54 for monterey 69 apsanta barbara in lower to middle 60's down to sow cow. as far as how much we get very very minute us went to see it. barely shows up here on the tracking up to the peninsula too so that's where the lion's share of what we're going to get is not penetrating too far inland, although some of the east bay shoreline might get some. and that's all we're going to be adding to the rain gauge for a little while not
9:47 am
entirely though going upstream that's we're talking about now tuesday looks like by tuesday night into wednesday morning. the biggest bulk of what we get for midweek we'll be here now the models are telling us now this is not high resolution but the models are telling us that by the evening commute on tuesday might be picking up some of that rain for the sloppy right home potentially but that will be overnight into wednesday morning. another break and then here comes another hit as it forges timed perfectly for saturday morning. next weekend looks like the rain returns we get break senate, but it still is a wet pattern. the general pattern is allowing everything coming in from the pacific without any interference of high pressure that we experience for example from last month. so the highways open if you will green light, stick to 6 for the high san francisco, 58 san jose, a lot of uniformity with these temperatures 57 for oakland. across the greater bay that smeared pretty much the same up in the north bay included in that about that long range forecast. get a look in somewhat dry to start the week
