7:01 am
is what it is of course the a heaviest rain going on right now extending on to the east bay usual notice off to the delta antioch san ramon fremont still in san francisco, then somewhat moderate rain up in the north bay and peninsula to zoom in just a little closer here extending down to san mateo as well but the heaviest rain not your imagination. yes, pounding pretty nicely on the east bay shoreline as we speak now, what rose everywhere, this is the shot from the golden gate little bit of fog going on for this morning as well as we talked about, but it still make out the north and tower putting into motion. yes, there is a break upstream. so this heavier rain is really going to be pretty much an early-motning phenomena with some scattered showers continuing with some clearing this afternoon to check out this fog year. look at this we have this radiation fog all over the bay pretty much universal and it startv to break up as we approach around high noon into the afternoon look at that and that will be with sunshine too by the way returning a little rrow now but not quite as total as you will see in this is really at with the wet surface still east bay you may

be a cloud up a little bit there and also parts of the peninsula by tomorrow morning temperatures in the 50's. actually mild air with a southerly flow with all of this with the front just dropping south. a look at sfo in the background there they're cooking on a 15 minute delay by the way here's the breakdown with rain at 8 o'clock 11 showers some sun breaking out mostly cloudy because some of those skies will fill back in with clouds because of the wet service. temperatures holding in the lower 50's project some of this for you coming up a little bit mark ok day thanks live. we have more storm coverage this morning of the storm that will be there the bay area's date mentioned just through the morning. >>but it is making an impact kron four's chrissy that h o live now in fremont to give us a look at conditions there and you've got the hood christine, i guess the rain is falling a. >>you know, i've got the hood up and that means that it's not just sprinkling it definitely means that it's been raining pretty hard. you know what. i want to make sure
7:03 am
that i don't have to rewatch the hair today so any precautions i can take but also to just for visibility for me let me tell you the rain is coming down pretty consistently here in fremont and actually here at the fremont community center and park where there's already a line of people outside waiting for the community center to open and you know they are trying to take cover from all of this rain. but of course we can see where all of the rain is really hitting and as i is been very consistent driving throughout the entire east bay consistency is what i would it would be the best word to describe all of the rain coming through here when you're driving on 6 ad as well as aid 80 you're going to be seeing that rain come through but actually with all of this rain is already causing issues on the road and add the rain slick roads are actually to blame for a crash that closed northbound lanes of highway one o one around 5 this morning over in redwood city chp says actually a single car spun out near the keyhole avenue off-ramp since then at least one lane has reopened but it's certainly going to slow things down in that area
7:04 am
for a while and rents all of us to slow down on the highways this morning something to keep in mind for a lot of people on the roads today. so christmas week that means we've got a lot of family visiting which means a lot of people not from the bay area driving around or more people on the roads then normal, especially on the weekend's the sunday being a lot of people a lot of times people going to church this morning. so if you're over in redwood city area or taking one oh one know that's going to be an issue but of course no they're going to be slick grows across the entire bay area so keep in mind even with the hustle and bustle of christmas please slow down and be very careful this morning no way of knowing already causing one incident that took that it doesn't cause more. >>for now reporting live here in fremont christina tightrope on for news, good advice. christina thanks a lot for that live report going to get drive for a little bit. >>it is neighborhood >>house has been a known to the neighborhood has trouble was. >>and in the south bay police are investigating a suspicious

to the santa cruz mountains. but this upstream here this is kind of going to be our future in the peninsula and just starting to get to san francisco and a little bit in some communities on the east bay shoreline. so that's going to be the late morning hours and this really isn't a clear in earnest until we get into the afternoon obviously it will start the peninsula and moran and then move off towards the east later on speaking of those winds we still do have noticed a strong southerly wind storm relatively mild of getting all this talk of winter. once that front passes we will swing things around a little bit more on a cooler no doubt the northwest, although we don't see a whole lot of winds in the wake of the storm system like observatory here there's the overcast sky conditions firmly in place that will break up this nice clear shot the lenses correcting the say they want to look at the raindrops here. so nice big juicy raindrops here was the spider nowhere to be found out not this weather. 50's we can see on the board right now for current temperatures again it's been mild all last night because of that southeasterly

unsettled by see some sun as we get to the afternoon sfo. still looking at a 50 minute delay as we can see still some fog kind of leftover low lying clouds as we all expect. and this packages including winter weather up to the sierra this is until 10 this evening. we should say this is what it looks like until 10 this evening, a winter weather advisory, greater tahoe, 4500 feet in elevation is where this is 6 to 9 inches of snow maybe an extra foot additional to that some of the camera shots have been looking at having been showing too bad problems on area roads but rivett reduced visibility still possible. so that's going to be with us all day today until basically tonight putting this into motion. the future cast for what we have left over that last little line spends a good portion of the morning and early afternoon just marching through the east bay by 2.30 we see some clearing trying to happen here. but again by the time we get to sunset is one we're going to start to see things open up what's left over will actually start to ricochet back to portions of the southeast of the bay area.
8:46 am
for tomorrow morning and your commute potentially how much rain we pick up. we'll pick up an additional because we reset to the beginning of this time period which is now additional maybe a quarter of an inch of rain in some of the city's the touch, the bay and as you get to the south down to 0.2, maybe pick up little more up to half moon bay close to half of an inch of rain additional longer range forecast models when we're done with all of this is basically a break until the christmas storm. the christmas rain and we might be left over with some the day afterwards opening up things until the following weekend. there you see on your sunday by about 06:00pm another dose coming our way this is long range is not guaranteed the timing is going to come out this way, but it looks like unfortunately, the weekend after christmas revisiting some and inclement weather yet again and maybe some guess trying to go back home too starting off the last week of the year looking pretty good for the last week of this year we've got temperatures in the 50's a over the board for right now for highs going on up to the north bay in the
8:47 am
south bay somewhat similar as we see in the east bay too and we did have a southeast wind overnight, the cap conditions somewhat mild on the front. usually you get a different air mass behind all of that but because we're off to such a mild start we won't see too much mercury movement going on with temperatures. here's what happens. there is that stray shower possible monday tuesday wednesday is where that dose of rain is and then we finish out the week fairly mild and then watching offer more weekend systems. the zion national park is the 4th most visited national park in the country and you can see why. >>so how do you go nic see escape the crowds. well as talk to about you the all the you know, it's so nice. our national parks are getting more and more popular you get a lot of lot a but there's a lot more love than a lot of people realize syon is a great example a majority of the traffic is in the canyon that's that's pretty much all we see right that's pretty
8:48 am
much all they see it's about an 8 mile corridor and most of the year you need a shuttle bus to kind of get can drive and not similar are so doing a lot of parts are doing i want to show you the watchman short look at the watch montreal. >>so this is located at the entrance of the means you're even need the shuttle bus. so you can literally just get right on the trail and this is in the trump. this is obviously it's going to impress you little more than 3 miles round trip yourself a good couple of hours, especially if you're like me you tend to take some less than a 400 foot ella elevation gain so it is not an easy highways for the novice hiker it's great but for the i mean those views you today, how the how do you know are you there this was going to be how we need a yes okay, so grand and that's actually really good point you know the shuttle. if you've never been to the park and get on the shuttle take it as far as it will go because that will give you the layout
8:49 am
of the land perspective on a during the summer those shuttles can take longer following i never waited more than 5 minutes. there's nobody in those shots go you go next yeah, plan now on the important thing to remember is what you think are park boundaries may not be it there's lots of areas that you may have never you're still in the park and you're still in the heart. let me get you to a trail called cope has washed out now this is one of those places. it's right before the pay gates so people drive right and don't even realize it's there and it's it's a wilderness trail technically so what that means is you're not going to find water you're not going to find bathrooms but you're also looking to find people this is the group that i was out with we never saw this was it this was it this was always all the whole day live up all 5 of so this is the type of thing that isn't necessarily what you think it is that's great point so keep that in mind when you get the takes you to spend some time talk to the rangers.
8:50 am
they're happy to tell you about all of these hidden little corners of the park now you are here you are here on halloween. but what i in mind you're here in the summer iy gets paid very hot right. so you know keep the act absolutely keep in mind what your tolerance is and you know. the summers are popular just because the kids are up for the to so if you have the flexibility take full advantage that being off the beaten path makes all the difference for it is important to remember that just because you made the step out of park boundaries doesn't mean all the beauty just all the sudden disappears doesn't stop with about exactly where it and the sand hollow state parks and this is a fairly new park became a park in 2003. and the best way to explore these towering sand there you go a in between you know playing in the sand you do get to learn about desert live desert, you know desert animals. there's a bit of an adrenaline rush, i'll give you and these easy
8:51 am
to drive ok and they're much easier than they look this is yes do you got a bump around sure they are much easier than they lock in now in the same respect i can understand why you'd be lot of folks would look at that and say on ok and i've got you can you don't have to drive. >>there are lots of options to explore areas like say yes to the somebody else to the and a guy was out with a company called atv in jeep invention tours they even have air condition jeep looking so income for you you can really see the scenery in your own comfort level so the options and the point here is that plenty of options got and if you really want to move slow let's get on a horse and i'm going to say slow because these are the type of rides. >>the source is know the way and they're going to show you and and that's a good underfoot lot of 10 foot. you're going to be too busy looking at every you look at your scenery you want the
8:52 am
horse to know the way i'm just going to take again and don't worry at him and that overnight we because you're constantly going to be twisting around you right back looking in front of the trail writes this is snow canyon there on trail rides all you're all year a 90 minute ride starts around $65 so again fairly affordable and you have a guy that you have you have a guy you have you have a guide and what this does is it gives you a look at what the park is because when you're horseback ride is over there all of these other things that you're going want to explore sure so canyon state park has already 8 miles of hiking trails you can pull off the road and be walking on petrified sandu is up in minutes after after getting out of your car and $10 for the day that's it for the for the entire day to get your car into the park once you're in $10 you've got all sorts of trails it's just one of this gives the national market some serious competition and again. how many really at your sides
8:53 am
and how many people do you see out there with me so you have think about it the next time you plan a proctor dana redmond own or her own thank you so much because so many people you know they go through the canyon and they take off say that's it there's not any more to see so much more showed us there so much so right back. >>kron four's end of the year spectacular is back to join us new year's eve starting at 08:00pm with our countdown to new year's eve live from las vegas and enjoy need grant lotus and need justine waldman starting at 1130 new year's live from san francisco as we bring in 2020 with fireworks over the ferry building but we're not done wake of new year's morning with the tournament of roses parade live from pasadena. our coverage starts at 06:00am with backstage at the parade then see all the pageantry of the 131st rose parade live

square. and pier 39 as well. also in the east bay at lake merritt and the veterans memorial park in napa in the north bay and a lot more locations as well thank you can find more hanukkah events happening tonight across the bay area on our website at kron 4 dot com dave martin, here's a look at our radar we're seeing the rain really break up through good portion of the bay except the new ghost marching through. >>well, san francisco and southern miranda spread out across the bay later this morning, there is sunshine in the forecast as well wrap this the forecast as well wrap this all up for you coming up ne you know when you go to ross for a few gifts and realize... oh yeah! you should've gotten a cart? that's yes for less. get gifts for everyone on your list and save 20 to 60 percent off department store prices. at ross. yes for less.

at ross. to you hope wrist and dry this morning in comfy and cozy as we take this live look outside from the market there. a camera. >>it looks like things are starting to clear just a little bit. hi everybody i'm marty gonzales days far as going to tell us for short. don't get too attached to that the temporary little thing you're going into the afternoon hours ago rose-colored glasses on that's right you're looking at that that's nice to look that way but just i hate to the pour cold water on this thing we have a little cell look out for you can actually see it glowing behind me here. >>a store showing up on storm tracker 4 yes dropping out of southern marin and about to make it a way into san francisco. so another dose of some moderate to heavy rain locally for a time about the strike us or if you're about to step outside keep in mind it from your perspective where this is this is drifting to
9:01 am
the southeast so probably start covering up the city here over the next hour. and most the communities along the east bay in the south bay expected to get their dose in the next couple of hours to take us to around noon. that's when this last line lets off. that's where we'll start looking at better improving conditions just by some light rain showers and opening up those skies a little bit to this is how it looks like another shot to the bridge. this is the golden gate. we don't see a lot of local fog occurring here, but it's more or less the overcast we can see there's that bright whites if you can see off to the distance there that silver lining if you will behind the stormy clouds so this other little lake here of the journey he has got to play out behind all about the skies open up a touch. speaking of the fog we also see that improve. now tomorrow morning it will redevelop it looks like, although we're not going have a lot of rain but in the east bay looks like south bay valleys in off to the peninsula, not so much in the north bay by comparison sake that this will be that radiation fog left over with in the wake of the rain
9:02 am
temperatures hold like are in the mid 50's that's pretty close to our highs will be any way for today, not a lot of mercury movement even up to the north bay fairly mild complements with some of the wind. 01:00pm report calling a cloudy this is the delayed clearing forecast we talked about sfo by the way that's in the background we're looking at a 50 minute delay thus far what you know how this all plays out coming up in just a bit marty sounds good dave, thanks. a lot. >>well we have more coverage of the storm that's moving through the bay area this morning kron four's christina tate row has been a hanging out in the storm ida in given conditions there and christine every time we come to you have a slightly different again you've lost the hood and it looks like the wind is calm down a little bit. >>well you know it actually lost the hood and put the ponytail and because the wind has actually been so intense here in fremont and i have been moving about the city but also here is you can tell within the foot hills and one of these overpasses the wind is a bit with things so had to go into a one of the pony
9:03 am
tails. but i let's go ahead and take a look at this break in between the stories you can see behind me the foot hills very green and everything lightning up so you can really see. break as i in the rain but what this does allow us to see is actually look down at the freeway into the slick roads. so obviously those are just an aftermath of happening. so much rain consistently throughout the early hours of the morning and actually the rain roads were to blame for a car crash that closed all northbound lanes from the other side of the bay on highway one o one around 5 this morning over in san mateo see you want to remind everyone to be careful on the roads this morning at to make sure to slow down. roads are starting to open back up over in san mateo but do expect some delays if you are driving through that area if you're possibly going to and from san francisco airport to keep that in mind. >>holiday travel. this is a very very busy day very busy
9:04 am
weekend leading into christmas a lot of people shopping today. so keep in mind when you're on any roads to please be careful they're going to be inconsistent traffic patterns this week because of the holiday so again a lot of traffic conditions can keep people on their toes when driving and to add in a storm on top of that this is unfortunately, but of a recipe for disaster for a lot of locals to always stay alert and chp also wants to remind everyone on top of slowing down we should be patient with everyone on the roads right now just especially it being a holiday week. and if you are in the case you are worried that you are hydroplaning in any way to on your break, the guy didn't turn into the way your direction, the direction your car is going and that will christina tetreault. >>all right christina going to get dry and thanks a lot for that update. it was yet

another nail biter for the niners as they came away with a thrilling victory last night in santa clara. before the game they had already clinched a playoff spot, but they're now aiming for top seed in the nfc kron 4 sports kate rooney was of air she has more on the game that went down to the wire. >>it's been a series of thrilling finishes for the 49 ers of late and saturday's game against the rams was no exception for the 4th week in a row, the game came down to the final seconds and this time that meant a game sealing robbie gold field goal for 3431 of 49 ers victory the game just for everyone, not and for everyone wasn't perfect. >>offense defense or special play calling the quarterback protections. everything was up and down throughout the whole thing so there's a lot of times i think that each individual honor team could feel like they had met some stuff up but it. each individual kept coming back and to to find a way to in that game there then was special there's a special team, you know guys care about
9:06 am
each other guys care about winning. >>guys go out there and execute in a fight to the last second and they're not special, you know it's not always perfect. so is how you draw it up. when you got guys that are willing to fight tooth and nail to last role last play to the last moment. you have chance and that's where officer, the sort difference to day we made plays we need to make to win a game and i'm thankful for defense something for her offense and think for a special case because all 3 phases of a place to the best piece of news for the 49 ers with this win is that they are still in control of their own playoff destiny. so if they can get a win against the seahawks in seattle next week. >>then the lock up the number one seed in the nfc and that means a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the postseason for kron 4 sports. i'm kate rooney at levi's stadium. yet another big game. >>and next week in seattle and coming up this morning on kron 4 news weekend tragic news for a member of the 49 ers as a family members killed we'll have the latest on the investigation. and then how one bay area families giving back and helping others in the

the stanford in san mateo another little collection as well look at this like observatory i see with my little wondering i hey we got some clearing skies temporarily though, again this a system last away as the pass on by which was part of the run the noon hour for those folks. the golden gate bridge to as well looks like we're trying to break these clouds up a little bit but again upstream expecting some heavier rain to come pass or have too many fog issues going on though what's going on with air travel we have about a 50 minute delay at sfo obviously mostly cloudy skies will prevail elsewhere and travels looks like the green light off to the east coast and other bay area airports also the green light as well, future cast for put this into motion. this is what it looks like getting in the afternoon. there's a clear patch but already at 3 o'clock. sunsets only less than 2 hours away. so when we get the earnest clearing into actually probably be sunset the what happens here is what's leftover notice. the mountains are getting more snow too. this will actually will come back as a return wave,

9:28 am
there's my career... my cause... and creating my dream home. i'm a work in progress. so much goes into who i am. hiv medicine is one part of it. prescription dovato is for adults who are starting hiv-1 treatment and who aren't resistant to either of the medicines dolutegravir or lamivudine. dovato has 2 medicines in 1 pill to help you reach and then stay undetectable. so your hiv can be controlled with fewer medicines while taking dovato. you can take dovato anytime of day with food or without. don't take dovato if you're allergic to any of its ingredients or if you take dofetilide. if you have hepatitis b, it can change during treatment with dovato and become harder to treat. your hepatitis b may get worse or become life-threatening if you stop taking dovato. so do not stop dovato without talking to your doctor.
9:29 am
serious side effects can occur, including allergic reactions, liver problems, and liver failure. life-threatening side effects include lactic acid buildup and severe liver problems. if you have a rash and other symptoms of an allergic reaction, stop taking dovato and get medical help right away. tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, including hepatitis b or c. don't use dovato if you plan to become pregnant or during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy since one of its ingredients may harm your unborn baby. your doctor should do a pregnancy test before starting dovato. use effective birth control while taking dovato. the most common side effects are headache, diarrhea, nausea, trouble sleeping, and tiredness. so much goes into who i am and hope to be. ask your doctor if starting hiv treatment with dovato is right for you.
9:30 am
morning welcome back kron 4 news weekend. we have some stormy still in some parts of the bay area and the golden gate bridge is one of them take a look at that shot there david and you've been talking about the fact that this is going to pass on through but it's going to take longer in some spots and others right in that this is the leading edge of that is you can see marching down to the southern moran we can see the northern tower because of all of that so that is basically everybody's future if you're going to get. >>hit by this wave. that's where it is to get the progress of that marching southeasterly we expected today. we expect some clearing in the afternoon but it's going to take a little while to get their heavy rain remains up further to the north as you can see at the fairfax up are in also center fell meanwhile to the south in san francisco where the golden gate is that's relatively moderate rain showers but the heavier stuff up north getting a wider perspective. there's also and a little chunks lines to make note of on the peninsula. now they're just
9:31 am
eating over hills there to the bay side. but that's also in the future again all drifting to the east and southeast and it's going to be delaying the clearing that we expect for today all to me to get there but we're delaying it, here's a look at the current winds. and we have numbers in the teens for now and some single digits to be had. shot from sun all about that we see some breaks in the clouds happening inland again temporary. we expect this in earnest by the late afternoon and fortune with an early sunset. we will get a lot of daylight with clearing skies today shot from sfo again delay we're cooking at about 15 minutes. making that cloudy. oh 1 o'clock 4 o'clock we'll call it somewhat mostly cloudy to variable clouds temperatures and the lower 50's michaela scrounge up some better conditions for moran, san francisco since they will have already been impacted by this system in the afternoon the east bail but more delayed so kind of ruins the day just a touch 56 san francisco to high oakland, the same san jose, a 58 really the benefit from all of this was
9:32 am
we had a southeasterly flow that kept in conditions very mild overnight. and then today we're not going get a whole lot of heating going on, but temperatures are pretty much going to be pretty stagnant as we expect now coming up in a bit. we'll take a look at the longer-range forecasts kitchen, a christmas and beyond marty. >>we wanted to bring some of the girls, the joy that they had in their life to other kids specially in the >>and he's a family that lost 2 young girls in a car wreck last year is now doing their part to help the community. they teamed up with the contra costa county sheriff's office to collect toys year round in honor of their daughters kron four's gayle ong was there as the family help brighten the spirits of hundreds of children in bay point. >>these little ones lined up at the ambrose recreation center in bay point saturday afternoon to get a president santa is getting help from contra costa county deputies for the annual toy giveaway we have probably several 100 kids here right now for the knights out we usually average probably a 1,1200 if not more

the person made up reasons nobody meantime russia continues to support an insurgency that's destabilizing ukraine. >>and while ukraine is grappling with that it's also unsure of the trump administration's support. former cy second former press secretary sarah sanders says she's thinking about running for governor of arkansas. she told a crowd of the students summit in florida that she is quote very seriously looking at a possible run. her announcement comes just a couple of days after she apologized for her tweet mocking the starter of democratic presidential candidate joe biden. the sec outside for a look at conditions at sfo this morning. it is went on the runways on the tarmac there. >>and they're dealing with 50 minute delays right now
9:44 am
treat them all as if they are hot and energized. stay away from any downed wire, call 911 and call pg&e right after so we can both respond out and keep the public safe. >>welcome back to kron 4 morning news, good morning, everybody and live shot are coming from a storm tracker 4 there we see the coverage of the rain this is basically the last line of the heavier more intense right we're probably going to see from the storm system. there's a collection of them in the peninsula around half moon bay extending off to the bay, san francisco and up to the north bay as well. this is kind of drifting down to the south east and the east and this will be in your future off to the east bay by the late morning hours into the early afternoon that means clearing expected in its wake at least partially as we get into the afternoon. here's how it looks like on the satellite picture there isn't much upstream to note of there will be a little bit of ricochet effect however occurring from
9:45 am
this storm system once it passes sfo. fog leftovers you can see rain still with us said there's more yet to come. there's delays of about 50 minutes of last check and in the winter package. the rain package we have winter weather up to the hills and mountains until 10 this evening, this is and we're looking for about 4500 feet up to 6 to 9 inches of snow could be localized to a foot perhaps and snow covered roads. reduced visibilities that's still possible though we see at this hour that's not really happening. so just one other little layer left over with this. let this go forward he was he a little clear patch developing in the mid afternoon up in the north bay specifically but then fills me heating it helps produce more in the way of cloud cover. there we see the leftover rain and a longer range it hints of it coming back overnight a little bit to portions of the southeast to the bay area. although it may not encroach actually in may the cities of the bay area to possibility it could drift up to the south. and a little longer further
9:46 am
upstream we do see in the line of some showers along the coast light rain showers for your tuesday morning. now as far as how much rain we're going to get out of this this is going to be the last goes of quote, moderate rain we're going to see until about wednesday or so a quarter of an inch of rain added to what we've already had for san francisco. and they're the east bay shoreline looks like oakland getting 0.32, dropping off considerably heading south though except for half moon bay. get past this system. there's a break in the action here except some modest the showers on tuesday again the note of there's the system for wednesday, christmas day. we take another breather and then more upstream into the weekend. this looks like it's starting to settle more on sunday rather than saturday. as for as opposed to another system like we've already had. so what here's what the 70 forecast notes on a couple begins at sunset for today. not too much activity little possible showers i mention wednesday is the day the lookout for stories and i get a wet and then for thursday drying out as we finish off the week the weekend rain
9:47 am
looks to be by sunday. the zion national park is the 4th most visited national park in the country and you can see why. >>so how do you go nic see escape the crowds. well as talk to about you the all the you know, it's so nice. our national parks are getting more and more popular you get a lot of lot a but there's a lot more love than a lot of people realize syon is a great example a majority of the traffic is in the canyon that's that's pretty much all we see right that's pretty much all they see it's about an 8 mile corridor and most of the year you need a shuttle bus to kind of get can drive and not similar are so doing a lot of parts are doing i want to show you the watchman short look at the watch montreal. >>so this is located at the entrance of the means you're even meet the shuttle bus. so you can literally just get right on the trail and this is
9:48 am
in room, this is obviously it's going to impress you little more than 3 miles round trip yourself a good couple of hours, especially if you're like me you tend to take some less than a 400 foot ella elevation gain so it is not an easy highways for the novice hiker it's great but for the i mean those views how the how do you know are you there dan a this was going to be how we need a yes okay, so grand and that's actually really good point you know the shuttle. if you've never been to the park and get on the shuttle take it as far as it will go because that will give you the layout of the land perspective on a during the summer those shuttles can take longer following i never waited more than 5 minutes. there's nobody in those shots go go next, yeah plan now on the important thing to remember is what you think are park boundaries may not be if there's lots of areas that you may have never you're still in the park and you're still in the heart. let
9:49 am
me get you to a trail called cope has washed now this is one of those places. it's right before the pay gates people drive right and don't even realize it's there and it's it's a wilderness trail technically so what that means is you're not going to find water you're not going to find bathrooms but you're also looking to find people this is the group that i was out with we never saw this was was it this was always all the whole day live up all 5 of so this is the type of thing that isn't necessarily what you think it is that's great point so keep that in mind when you get the map takes you to spend some time talk to the rangers. they're happy to tell you about all of these hidden little corners of the park now you are here you are here on halloween. but what i in mind you're here in the summer iy gets paid very hot right. so you know keep act absolutely keep in mind what your tolerance is and you know. the summers are popular just because the kids are up for the to so if you have the flexibility take full advantage that being off the
9:50 am
beaten path makes all the difference for it is important to remember that just because you made the step out of park boundaries doesn't mean all the beauty just all the sudden disappears but it doesn't stop with about exactly where it yeah, we have wind and the sand hollow state parks and this is a fairly new park became a park in 2003. and the best way to explore these towering sand there you go a in between you know playing in the sand you do get to learn about desert live desert, you know desert animals. there's a bit of an adrenaline rush, i'll give you and this easy to drive ok and they're much easier than they look this is a yes do you got a buffer around sure they are much easier than they lock in now in the same respect i can understand why you'd be lot of folks would look at that and say on ok and i've got you com you don't have to drive. >>there are lots of options to
9:51 am
explore areas like say yes to the somebody else to the and a guy was out with a company called atv in chief adventure tours they even have air condition jeep looking so income for you you can really see the scenery in your own comfort level so the options and the point here is that plenty of options got and if you really want to move slow let's get on a horse and i'm going to say slow because these are the type of rides. >>the source is know the way and they're going to show you and and that's a good underfoot lot of 10 foot. you're going to be too busy looking at every. i mean look at your senior, you know you want the horse to know the way i'm just going to take again and don't worry at him and because you're constantly going to be twisting around you right back looking in front of the trail writes this is snow canyon there on trail rides all you're all year a 90 minute ride starts around $65 so again fairly affordable and you have a guy that you have you have a guy you have that
9:52 am
you have a guide to what this does is it gives you a look at what the park is because when you're horseback ride is over there all of these other things that you're going want to explore sure so canyon state park has already 8 miles of hiking trails you can pull off the road and be walking on petrified sandu is up in minutes after after getting out of your car and $10 for the day that's it for the for the entire day to get your car into the park once you're in $10 you've got all sorts of trails it's just one of this gives the national parks, some serious competition and again. how many really at your sides and how many people do you see out there with me so you have think about it the next time you plan a proctor dana redmond own or her own thank you so much because so many people you know they go through the canyon and they take off say that's it there's not any more to see so much more showing us there so much so right back.
