the fall. i am convinced of that. >>that same day trump also announced the cdc director would issue a correction for quote he then affirmed were accurate to america, the loaded in the washington post. >>to talk more about this. we're joined live by doctor kelly johnson, the cold medical director of the national capital poison center good morning. good morning. so dad. as if there's anything more to clear up but i think that i guess we should considering how many calls cdc's and poison control have gotten just on this latest question about disinfecting the body. >>yes, indeed, it sounds like a completely ridiculous thing it is a completely that it was thing but people are in crisis mode. people are afraid of coronavirus and are doing whatever they can to be safe and because of that people are taking the president's comments comments seriously we are getting multiple calls to poison centers up from people
9:35 am
who are wondering is this a should they be doing a how should they be doing that and it's amazing to me that people are actually considering to me this is completely and say i do not want anybody to be putting just that it's in their bodies in any way shape or form because just because you see something kill a virus. on a kitchen counter top. we're alive we're not like a counter top. these products have never been tested for use inside the human body. they are not safe for use inside the human body. they are safe for use as their manufacture like you said to be used and counter tops on surfaces on and out of it not moving objects, i'm going to ask you one more thing because is up high high profile person that brought clorox bleach and. >>disinfectants and that is chris cuomo's wife. you know chris cuomo the cnn anchor has coronavirus he recovered. his wife and got it their son got it and she has this blog called the purest and i can pull it off for you and you can see a picture of her you
9:36 am
know the whole family there they are on the left-hand side. >>so. >>she says and she is training her own coronavirus and recovering. she said that she talked to a doctor she and she names the doctor and on this blog she talks about what she's doing to help herself and she says that she takes a tiny amount of bleach a quarter cup of bleach puts it in her entire 80 gallon water jet hub. and she takes a bath in it and she goes on to say that. the doctors told her clorox is sodium chloride which is technically salt. >>so so so says sodium right it's a very dilute version of sodium perchlorate it is not the same thing you saw it's very dangerous and yes we do use bleach baths for some conditions and medicine such as eczema but we don't use it for coronavirus is never been tested as he's for coronavirus and again i think that we need to be really careful about taking medical advice from people who have no medical
9:37 am
training at all. >>and i would be worry about how much once you say oh sure you just said bleach baths icing call a just dump it in. i smell bleach and if it gets miasma going i mean it feels toxic to me already. >>that's a great height which can be you know in a small concentration of the reform of bleach can be a good disinfect it but for people who have asked for people who have underlying skin conditions it can be very harmful and poisonous if it's applied to the skin aren't out. >>and one of the worrying things you mentioned earlier about the uptick in number of calls of people have been. making to enquire about whether this is safe and how to do it safely the whole idea of using disinfectants. that's got to be a warning because how many people are calling that are just going out on their own because after imagine the people calling her probably a small percentage of the total number of people that are contemplating this. >>you are absolutely correct. the fact that people are calling means there's many more people out there who are probably thinking about it taking it seriously so we just need to keep getting the word
9:38 am
out that this is not safe at all. >>you know what one thing i do want to and i know this is a good idea or not when i buy food like a say an apple. i'm i'm thinking should i put a little bit a cleaner on that normally i just washed with water. >>but then i don't want to eat it. >>right so i don't think we have any evidence at this point that regular groceries and can can transmit the virus. i think just careful as you normally do and and wash the vegetables off the water even a commercial cleaning products made specifically for being fruits and vegetables i think that's completely adequate you certainly could put a little disulfide dish soap is is something that can easily be washed off with water afterwards but i would not recommend all the distance would be part of that is completely and say yeah ok, no i was doing that is something i didn't know if that would self was passed for being one that you're seeing those we're in uncharted territory and people aren't sure what they should be doing because this
9:39 am
is a virus that we've ever had to deal with before from wiping down groceries or bring it home from the store to how you clean it before you actually put it in your mouth. >>where what would you recommend is the safest place for people to find factual informations at about safety. during these times. >>there's there's a lot of people my medical information online it's available. the w h o website has some great information. the cdc is making regular updates to their information but actually every state in the u.s. has a debt to the coronavirus website you can actually find the information by going to www dot poison dot or put coronavirus for covid and the search block bar and you'll find a list of of the covid-19 hotlines for each state in the u.s. and those web great information both at the hotline you can call and the actual left side and again every state has this you can get specific information for your particular state about the numbers that your state is seen what your state is recommending a case you have some dense what symptoms you
9:40 am
should look out for things like that so definitely check your state's covid-19 website is very clear facebook is not source not the facebook is not a good source of information for coronavirus right now please leave it to the medical professionals we are doing the best we can and we're putting the information out there as soon as we can get and is there anything else before we go that you would like to add that may be a question or problem these days that we haven't fought to ask you about when it comes to coronavirus and misconceptions and you know that disinfectants and thanks. >>i think there's a lot that we don't know, but there's a few things that we do not first of all keep washing your hands. you know 20 seconds at a time frequently during the day like we talked about before your hands get drive motion for gasoline on them please do not stop washing your hands because your accounts are getting dry and cracked and rash keep wearing a mask and we need to emphasize that people do need to to keep doing social distancing the best way that we can prevent the virus right now is to be staying away from other people because we know they're silent carriers out
9:41 am
there and there are people out there who have the virus have no symptoms that can transmit other people ok thank you so much back to you all right have a good saturday. >>and don't forget to the kron 4 dot com has a special coronavirus section with all the latest headlines whether to news whether it's health related whether its latest guidance from the cdc and from the poison control centers. >>you can always find it there kron 4 dot com got a giant banner across the front page this is coronavirus coverage click on that and you'll see all of the information we've put together for you, we'll take a quick break at 9.41 wi

>>remember we are talking taking now what we're so all right she remember how different countries have different rules for lockdowns and in spain, you can only leave to walk a pet you can even lead to exercise why they circling that fish >>he was taking his goldfish. know what they did stop them, but these are just so technically look we're covering up the goldfish, he put it on the bench to give the fish are asked it because he was walking his goal for. well you walk you is some people walk a dog in a stroller so the dog is enjoying a walking and he was walking his fish you just needed to get some fresh air can you believe that well if you're going to be looking your today luckily, we don't have those rules in place we have walking up at it you can go out to what he had to name

one of the answer you can walk your hands just put a leash on it. yes john obviously i mean if the rule say >>the of just looking out for my fellow pet owners but yeah we are looking at some really good weather today to walk the dog any of your pets around the neighborhood, but of course practicing social-distancing and being mindful of face masks and of course everything else we've got use to lately now the golden gate bridge absolutely beautiful we've seen some clear skies are at the golden gate just a bit of slipping in along the marin headlands at times temperatures already climbing 60's for most of us conquered the lay how at 70 degrees though fairfield in pittsburgh, even warmer than that 7275 right now so we are wasting no time seeing temperatures climbing under the sunshine as of right now there's a cold front slipping to our north this is doing enough to result in a few clouds it will be pushing over
9:46 am
the bay today and some coastal fog most of us are still going hold on to some pretty warm temperatures though if you look at the very top of the screen right here you see that line a cloud cover that's actually that cold front that's slipping right to our north currently and what we're going to see through the day today is a little bit of the cloud cover from that certainly no chance of rain and just a touch cooler temperatures future cast shows you those clouds that will be pushing in and out across the bay area so a mostly sunny to partly cloudy day just not as crystal perry's yesterday was. >>tomorrow will be our coolest day of the definitely has an effect of that cold front pushing through resulting in temperatures falling from the near 90's inland to just the 70's tomorrow so much more pleasant day it may be those a hot temperatures we had yesterday we'll see again today a little too hot for you antioch 86 today nap and conquer to 85 san jose still toasty at 83 well fremont redwood city hayward oakland and san francisco among areas
