nonessential businesses from offering curbside service business wanted creek say they agree with the county's decision to wait a little bit longer. >>because why would i just be different. logic is that we're a part of the east bay, the census compare were part of that marketplace. therefore e it makes sense that all the counties were together with what they're doing. >>well the california retailers association is working with business leaders in wanted creek on guidelines to make sure that shop owners are in compliance with phase 2. those guidelines are scheduled to be unveiled at the chamber of commerce meeting on tuesday. >>now to the south bay this morning where san jose's business leaders are working on a new plan to provide restaurants a lifeline after the shelter at home orders are lifted. it's called san jose all fresco and the goal is to allow businesses to access public spaces, an outdoor facilities to serve customers. many restaurants are preparing for a post covid-19 world with fewer seats inside so this

plan would let customers enjoy meals outside. >>this will be an effort to require a lot of hands on deck. we're grateful that we've got so many right folks who are willing to lend their time to help us. >>san jose mayor sam liccardo says the idea is in place but there's still a lot of details to work out that includes conversations with the alcoholic beverage commission on outdoor sales of liquor and also getting support from local and state health officials. >>to the biggest tech companies and the bay area are now telling their employees that they can work from home for the rest of the year kron four's rana harvey has a look at the plans for facebook and google. >>for the rest of the year facebook and other tech giants including google are allowing most of their employees to work from home. in a facebook said that any employee can do their work from home may continue to do so until the end of the year. the social network will not reopen most of his offices until july 6 at the earliest this could

change. this is a significant change from their first plan which allowed people to work remotely at least through may to protect workers facebook also canceled all in person events through june of next year. the most google employees will also more than likely continue to work remotely do the rest of this year, according to the company's ceo. google employees were also previously working from home until at least june 1st. >>now it remains other companies are going to all of these 2 tech giant, but they're certainly sending a message about prioritizing a worker safety. harvey reporting in menlo for news. >>3 cruise ship will be docking at the port of oakland, the ships need a safe port during this time when they're not allowed to operate because of the pandemic this is video of the corn teen grand princess that was docked at the port in march. the new ships are from the region cruises said crew members will remain right there on the

ship. there have been no reports so far of any coronavirus a associated illnesses with the ships of the people on it. they arrived this week and they could stay at that port for up to 3 months. >>there's been a 3rd coronavirus death and more positive cases at the windsor vallejo care center. and that brings the total confirmed infected cases to 103 at that care facility. kron four's maureen kelly talked to a family. pay a family of a patient who is now in the icu at a hospital because of the virus. >>maybe they thought it would not make it through the night. >>the aunt of william bennett, the 3rd says the 31 year-old covid-19 positive patient is now out of the windsor vallejo care center and in icu at sutter solano the code it twice and so they had to put the incubator and and it's beating too. >>and today, i'm going to be. grain there are half a brain issues. but chad j. she she

recognized the doctor he over the years, i've been it has been living at the nursing home for over a year after suffering a series of strokes and being diagnosed with a rare blood disorder. >>he's one of 80 residents who have tested positive at the facility so far 3 have died. >>23 staff members have also been infected his aunt had moved him to a room near a window so she and other family members could check on him when i first talked to her on tuesday, she said she was worried about him and wanted him hospitalized because he seemed lethargic he was transported by ambulance, a few hours after her concerns were aired on kron 4 news. >>we knew each. that he needed to be out of there it's a skilled nursing home that was already having problems. this is a medicare inspection report from the department of health and human services from april 12th that lists 23 health citations including one

long tall sally and lucille re little richard had a huge influence on rock and roll. he was 87 years old. >>apple will reopen some of its stores starting monday, the first will be in boise idaho then others and south carolina, alabama and alaska. apple says it will require temperature checks and facial coverings for customers and staff. it will also begin social-distancing protocol. apple stores in germany are also reopening monday. but no word on when apple plans to reopen its bay area stores will keep you posted. >>and bay area based tesla is working to reopen its fremont factory, the company has plans to begin limited operations. it's recalling 30% of its workforce, although tesla is working to reopen. alameda county officials are saying wait a minute not so fast because the county recently extended shelter-in-place orders. tesla says returning workers will be given additional training and we'll have to learn new protocols in order to prevent the spread of covid-19 we're just not sure when that's going to happen.

check of the forecast with dave spahr yesterday felt like it was may be the warmest day of the year, but what about today, what about mother's day we have a lot of cousins >>much cooler this weekend robin like a change a wardrobe is what's being called for with all of us yet temperatures falling good morning. good morning, everybody we've got a falling temperatures throughout the weekend. not going to feel it as much inland. i mean tonight is a kind of gone, but it's the little plane warm in the inland valleys but around the bay, it's really much cooler today in fog this morning this the shot from u c berkeley east bay shoreline all covered up expect the same again for tomorrow by the way and you're seeing some of the bridge shots which are much the same to like the golden gate bridge you can see it't all covered with the fog on too so for that part of the forecast yes that will clear out we'll go back to essentially mostly sunny. however again returning. actually this evening into the overnight for tomorrow morning as well. so a check in the bay area temperatures to start things off words still in the 50's along the east bay shoreline so still fairly mild upper

50's going on in london with 59, antioch 55 livermore 54 for concord some 40's up there to the north bay 56 for san jose and 50's covering the peninsula. let's compare what it was like 7 o'clock yesterday pretty close in many cases actually a little more mild up there in the north bay, however highs today will be a big difference which will be talking about too. so here's the big you see all the pasty white stuff far to the left hand side there that is our future in terms of bringing some rain early next week. yes, we have some rain coming in this forecast and that's a dozen what the doctor ordered and it looks like in the long range forecast models that as well future cast for again, here's the low lying clouds in the morning fog that mixes out with century mostly sunny skies, although along the coast that's going to be tougher to clear. tomorrow morning we do the same program to get a little little thicker down there. the monterey bay and then somewhat variable clouds looks like for your sunday afternoon again not too bad from on keeping the rain off cooler temperatures still

but still very mild across a good chunk of the district. so look we got here morning clouds cooler with 70's for the bay 80's inland, not quite the 90's then tomorrow, scattered clouds colder still 70's for the day and we'll call it near 80 inland. so it's going to be more of a struggle to get up there early next week showers and rain early in the week, unsettled with rain returning the following weekend. yeah we definitely need this too because we're falling into the broad category so well the adding to the bank account, 64 san francisco, 70 for oakland. 82 meanwhile for san jose across the wider region for those highs still got quite a bit of red on the map and conquered well shooting in the upper 80's and we'll be showing a little bit later on in the state map central valley is still looking at plenty of 90's today. so the impact is not being felt too far will far inland yet up to santa rosa 82 today and some 70's now on the peninsula with some 60's for san francisco in half moon bay, of course your 4 zone forecast coming up as

sfo coming in with some of that fog. already starting to left no reports of any delays with any of that but just to give fog it's due here this morning. there you can see it mixes out as we get the sun later this morning only to return tonight as soon as the sun sets will repeat the process again, although tomorrow will probably have to struggle with a little more cloud cover than we do today that will be kind of some scattered about throughout the day. temperatures right now we have 49 of the santa rosa, but everybody else has gotten into the 50's we have the upper 50's off the antioch 54 conquered 55 livermore mid-fifties cover the east bay shoreline with 54 going on for highest projected to date are you still see those mid 90's in the central valley, so the impact of the cooling trend, not as much felt there yet 64 san francisco much cooler in the city today, 63 for monterey and out so cal the lower to middle 70's working there. so in a longer range forecast models here comes this rain opportunity into early next week others a couple little waves with that

still unsettled later on in the week we had some brushes of showers and that looks great on this particular model run as we get into next weekend with that may be another big hits that gets us into the following week so hopefully that's going to pan out that way as well do want to note the drought monitor this is updated every thursday, so it really hasn t changed yet, but you can see a good 2 thirds of the district is still under severe drought conditions though so maybe some of this rain will start to correct it. 4 zone forecast 64 the coast 63 civica at 60 64 down a half moon bay. we have the 60's in the northern end of the peninsula. down south of forget about the 80's it's mid 70's working here and the south bay 90's are in hiding as well 84 morgan hill 82, san jose milpitas of 81 east bay shoreline mid 70's lower 80's to tri valley, dublin, 79. while the creek at 8082 for concord 74 open by the way and a pair of the north bay will any aka still popping 87 will back a bill but 81 sonoma 79 for napa and

neighborhoods, wash our washington correspondent kelli meyer spoke to housing and urban development secretary ben carson on what action they're taking. >>it's more than just a health disparities that we need to do with housing and urban development secretary ben carson is leading the white house response for minority groups hit hardest by the pandemic including those working in essential jobs with a greater risk of exposure we basically would not be able to function without them. carson says the council is looking at directing extra help to those still on the job we need to make sure that they can continue to function appropriately secretary carson and members of the council met friday to find new ways to help these communities. i asked lawmakers on capitol hill. if it's enough the fact of the matter is we don't have the testing in the minority communities, democratic senator doug jones blames admin enough to help minority areas in alabama. but as the national institutes of health told him this week that experts are working on a

>>and we have breaking news from the entertainment world is rock and roll legend little richard has passed away. his former agent told cnn that his death was related to bone cancer. little richard of course a founding father of rock and roll with several hits. in the 50's and 60's from tutti frutti the long tall sally good golly miss molly, the list goes on and on and all told he sold more than 30 million records around the world. when the rock and roll hall of fame opened back in 1986 little richard was among the charter inductees along with elvis presley little richard had a huge influence on rock and roll. he was presented the lifetime achievement grammy award back in 1993 and in that same year he also performed at president bill clinton's inauguration.

richard wayne penniman was one of 12 children from macon georgia. he was 87 years old. and joining us to talk about the rock and roll pioneers, charles glenn who was a bass player in little richard's band for more than 30 years of mister glenn thank you for joining us this morning. although wanted to ask you how you're doing on this day you must have some great memories of little richard. >>oh man yeah it was the was one of the greatest ever want to be up. a guy that we saw if the that was the guy to die so day. yeah. >>tell us a little bit about the time period that you and that you performed with little richard. >>from like the early early 8 mid out as show and las vegas. >>so so pretty recently and it just shows his staying power

incubator and and it's beating too. >>and today, i'm going to be. brain there are half a brain issues. but chad j. he she recognized the doctor he over the years, i've been it has been living at the nursing home for over a year after suffering a series of strokes and being diagnosed with a rare blood disorder. >>he's one of 80 residents who have tested positive at the facility so far 3 have died. >>23 staff members have also been infected his aunt had moved him to a room near a window so she and other family members could check on him when i first talked to her on tuesday, she said she was worried about him and wanted him hospitalized because he seemed lethargic he was transported by ambulance, a few hours after her concerns were aired on kron 4 news. >>we knew each. that he needed to be out of there it's a skilled nursing home that was already having problems. this

is a medicare inspection report from the department of health and human services from april 12th that lists 23 health citations including one which found the facility failed to ensure that infection control principals were being followed. >>it was given a rating of much below average you need be mindful. >>the people that cannot do for themselves. and as you know the compassion said that then you're in the wrong business. the windsor vallejo care center issued a statement this week. >>that staff are constantly getting updated training on best practices in regard to infection control and that they're adhering to all federal and state recommendations to minimize the spread of this virus. bennett's aunt says the doctors hope to wean him from the ventilator over the next 2 days. she says when her nephew is out of the hospital he will not be going back to that nursing home. maureen kelly kron 4 news. >>many families who are losing loved ones during this

pandemic have turned to virtual memorial services, some funeral homes are using facetime and zoom some mourners can say their final goodbyes health orders in the bay area say that no more than 10 people can gather at a time what severely limits the number of people who can attend the service. we talked to the sooner ul and cemetery services for the diocese of oakland about how these virtual funerals look and specifically the services for people who died of covid-19. >>for the covid confirmed cases. what we can offer families is they can witness from their vehicles. in fairly close proximity to where the committal service is going to be held. this does for their safety for compliance as well as the safety of our funeral staff as well. >>many families are waiting to hold traditional services at a later date when the shelter-in-place orders are lifted. bay area based tesla
