and we have complete coverage of the protests that happened all around the bay and the country. for the starting with los angeles take a look you can see a building there on fire amid the protests overnight protesters also got violent with police by throwing fireworks at them at one time there you see those going off. there are also looting. captured on camera at various stores throughout la fact it got so bad the governor newsome had to declare state of emergency across la county and the california national guard now being deployed to the area to help maintain peace and safety on the streets. >>there you can see protesters jumping on and dancing on top of police cars. there were businesses that were set on fire you can see one police officer using his baton there to beat down one of the protesters overnight new york city mayor de blasio called on the protesters to stop the violence and go home. now let's take a look at what happened is chicago, you can see the police pushing back a

more stores being broken into take a look we're going to start in downtown oakland you can see here. this is near 17th and broadway and you can see oakland police trying to break up crowds in that area you see a number of people in the middle of the street. one point someone looks like they are throwing a trash can. >>a moving police vehicle. now you can see people start to. the police appear to throw flash bangs that in an attempt to get people cleared out of that area. you see people running down the street. here in all for now this scene continues to unfold for some time. but this was not the only area in oakland where you saw things happening we want to now take you over to you the guitar center in oakland. you can see people carrying out items looks like someone's carry out a keyboard and other musical instruments, including guitar. now the mail locks here of been bent and cut to get inside you can see this place has been nearly cleared

out some items even left outside on the sidewalk. as you will continue to carry things out into the street. oakland wasn't the only area also in reveal. at a best buy you can see here in these images, hundreds of people carrying out a flat screen tv's and other electronics there's glass here all over the ground people struggling to get in and out of that store with items as more people continue to pour in now the numbers here in oakland, we know that they made 9 arrest overnight. and there were 0 reported injuries but again police are still gathering that information putting that together so that could change as the morning goes on. now oakland mayor libby schaaf speaking out on what we've seen play out over the past few days here. >>people came out in oakland to express. they're understandable anger. about

against african-americans here in oakland in this country. but again you see what last night's gathering turned into a lot of stores vandalized and i went out to oakland, i was in oakland yesterday i got a chance to see some of the businesses that were vandalized there, including some of the smaller businesses and it's just heartbreaking to see all of this unfold. but for now reporting here in oakland raider harvey kron 4 news, thanks a lot of >>it said to the north bay protests in santa rosa turned violent overnight with the arrests and property damage witnesses say large groups of protesters started gathering around 9 o'clock last night. large glass window panes at the plaza mall on the street in downtown santa rosa were shattered. police were able to stop the crowds from entering the mall though other businesses were damaged in. there were a few arrests as well police used tear gas to ultimately dispersed the crowd 30 say the protesters finally went home at about 2 o'clock this morning. has announced

that they are temporarily shutting down their bay area stores as a reaction now to the unrest in the well the riotous actions that we're seeing on the streets in the overnight hours the video of a target store in oakland is a prime example was looted friday night. target didn't give any specific time frame for these closures that they'll be implementing just that they'll be shutting down their stores until further notice. >>in most cases here in san francisco things started off peacefully. this was the scene earlier in the day when the demonstrators began their march through downtown san francisco. and they headed to the entrance of the bay bridge. when police blocked them at harrison and main street, multiple people also were gathered outside of city hall similar scene and the mission street police station in san francisco. you can see all of these demonstrators taking a knee and chanting.

protest. the police death of george floyd and you can see just some of the scenes in minneapolis washington d c philadelphia and seattle in large part. the protests were peaceful. but as you can see many times there were pockets that broke out. violence and destruction in fact in the indianapolis, 3 protesters were shot one of them. and it out. that is where we want to take you now this is the scene of the streets there. this was around midnight last night. there was one police officer also had minor injuries and trying to control the crowds, it's not clear who fired and who in police say that none of their officers were firing any live rounds. nobody has been arrested for the shootings but throughout the nation. hundreds of people have been taken into custody over these last 5 days.

night. now local congresswoman barbara lee is speaking out about what she says is behind the unrest that she's been seen. >>we have to deal with national state and local level in terms of the housing becky burt and there's so many policies in place allow of it allows people certain including the president. he believed the bear but of the law we have to make sure that the accountability side and a lot of fair and just have to understand the underlying issue for many people don't even recognize it. the health disparities that was cnn the african american community didn't get far. it has always been the case that we've been fighting to close both to share in this part of what the human rights and civil rights movement has been about it's about. making sure the just to the i doubt it.

policy for violence and vandalism the police and the city are now enforcing a curfew that goes from 08:00pm to 05:00am and the mayor gave no indication of >>well now to developing story we're learning more about the 2 federal protective services guards who were shot while defending a federal building in oakland friday night. one of them died from their injuries, he's been identified as 53 year-old patrick underwood he's from pin all and those close to his family say that there are plans for a news conference tomorrow. we're more details about his death will be released. the shooting happened just before 10 o'clock friday night. federal investigators say someone inside a vehicle pulled up and opened fire on underwood in a second officer while they watched over the protests. federal officials call the shooting an act of domestic terrorism and part of a pattern to target police stations and federal buildings investigators haven't released any details about the shooter

started in san francisco and a light as you can see it was loud but very controlled and peaceful people carrying signs and chanting and then the they went over to the entrance the bay bridge. there police blocked and harrison and main street and there was also a gathering outside of city hall in san francisco and in the mission district, here's mission the police station their mission street where people took a knee and chanted i can't breathe. the last things that were captured on that video that floyd said before he died in police custody. it's at and when things you know turned the night fall that we saw the destruction so let's take a look at night in san francisco mayor london breed announcing a series of measures to prevent further destruction now that included a curfew and potentially calling in state and federal resources as well. >>for those who want to protest peacefully. but those

that are coming in emptying out the shells now target hasn't said exactly how long these closures are going to last just that the stores are going to be shut down until further notice target says that they are heartbroken by the death of george floyd and they are determined to continue paying their employees that are impacted by these closures for at least the next 14 days. to the north bay now where protesters there in santa rosa also turned violent overnight. we saw property damage police did make some arrests witnesses say large groups of demonstrators started gathering at about 9 o'clock last night and here's video of that. at one point though they broke the windows at the plaza mall on the street in downtown santa rosa trying to get in but police were able to stop them. other businesses were also damaged in the end police used tear gas to finally dispersed the crowds but it wasn't until 2 o'clock in the morning. before the last of them left. >>it was all the protests started peacefully like this one in san francisco before

out of control. and in indianapolis, the protests that turned deadly 3 people were shot, one of them died around midnight last night and one police officer has minor injuries. police say they don't know who fired the shots because they say that their officers were firing no live rounds and no arrests have been made for the shootings. >>well a new york police officer drove his vehicle into a crowd of protesters on saturday. you can see of the van being confronted by a group of demonstrators before driving into a barrier knocking several of those demonstrators and barriers over a spokesperson for the nypd says the officer hit the gas after a flaming bag of something was thrown on top of the vehicle. new york mayor bill de blasio says he's looked at the video he finds it disturbing of course he wished the officer had done something different but he understands that they are being surrounded by demonstrators they were being attacked and at some really felt like they had to get away says the incident is being investigated. we'll take a break much more coverage.

into the wee hours in oakland, this is 01:00am today with police trying still to disperse the crowds. they were hanging around businesses many that had been damaged and the protests either last night or the night before kron four's reyna harvey has been covering this and his line and all come with a look at what happened ran. yeah, it was really hectic in the early morning hours. it seems like there's no business that's off limits because we've seen an array of businesses you have some protesters. >>that are saying they do not support this type of activism out in the streets at all. this is a clearly away from the message they were trying to convey we're going to show you what happened take a look at this. this is a grocery store safeway being vandalized overnight here in oakland take a look people are smashed through that door broken into their their climbing in and out grabbing items you see they have in their hands. toilet paper in and other things they also tag the side of his building. and you can see people picking up so many

more about the 2 federal protective services guards who were shot while patrolling a federal building in oakland friday night, one of them died from their injuries, he's been identified as 53 year-old patrick underwood he's from pinole and those close to his family say that there are plans now for a news conference tomorrow, where the family will talk more about his death. the shooting happened just before 10 o'clock friday night federal investigators say someone in a vehicle pulled up and opened fire on underwood and a second officer while they were standing watch over the protest federal officials call the shooting an act of domestic terrorism and part of a pattern of targeting police stations and federal buildings. investigators haven't released much in the way of who the shooters are underwood is the brother of former lancaster city councilwoman angela underwood jacobs and as for the second officer was injured. he remains in critical condition. this morning. >>nfl commissioner roger goodell says the nfl is saddened by floyd's death and what is going on around the country and that there is an urgent need for action.
