right now kind of overcast and mixed in with some fog that will mix out pretty quickly this morning, boy even led to this morning. that condition should be kind of handled nicely. they are in temperatures now are in the mid to upper 50's near about 60 oakland is at 60 now upper 50's in the east bay, 58 going on for san jose and 56 meanwhile for san francisco. much of the real estate is trailing a little bit behind we were this time yesterday little bit more mild up in the north bay there putting it together here for you somewhat variable clouds will do it early this morning clearing out as we approach the noon hour. but cooler temperatures 70 expected by 2 o'clock walk you through all this in just a bit back to you. all right dave, thanks a lot happening today, passengers are hopping on the trains at the new south bay bart stations for the first time. >>kron four's reyna harvey there in san jose she has all the details for us good morning, rain. >>good morning. marty well the various a bart station behind me has been in the works for a long time at least nearly 30 years i already got a chance

to talk to some riders this morning and they tell me they're excited that the station is opening up its going to be an asset to the san jose community. they can finally get to the city in no time they say. now the first rain that's going to leave out of the station is going to be leaving at 07:56am and it arrives in milpitas at 07:59am so pretty fast there now. this smart station can next north san jose it cost over billion for them to build i had a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday but they're not having one today due to coronavirus now a lot of people are out yesterday cutting the ribbon and enjoyed a the grand opening that's going to be happening and just a few minutes but former san jose mayor ron gonzales he was a part of the process of making the station a reality he talked about his initial vision. >>what i realized was we were going to bring traffic relief to the bay area and particularly to the south bay

california opens up a bit more under the new state guidelines nail salons tattoo shops and massage parlors. >>will be allowed to reopen june 19th with county approval. now workers and customers will be required to wear a face mask and limited services will be available salons will be able to offer services including facials waxing and massage therapy indoor religious services with a limit of 25% capacity will be allowed. well there has been an uptick of coronavirus cases in 17 states since memorial day that leads to a grim covid-19 prediction from the cdc estimates 136,000 coronavirus staff in the u.s. by july 4th. now in california. they're currently close to a 142,000 cases and about 5,000 deaths the state's department of public health says the hospitalization rates remain stable. now right here in the bay area take a look at your screen there over 16,000 cases of coronavirus we're

also seeing 490 deaths alameda county has the most number of cases at 4200 infections santa clara follows with more than 3100 cases if you like to take a look at the whole list and the breakdown by city by county. it's always available on our website kron 4 dot com. >>as covid-19 restrictions loosened in more places begin to reopen state health officials are keeping a watchful eye on surges in several counties that include santa clara county. the country's first covid-19 death was in santa clara county. but now the concern is growing about the number of hospitalizations the state says there could be a number of factors, including an increase in testing and people from other counties coming to santa clara for care. now despite the number of hospitalizations the increase in the absolute number of patients in hospitals is low, considering the number of people who live ina county. ucsf epidemiologist says that the best way to prevent the spread remains

wearing a face mask, even with loosens restrictions. >>we're trying to do is open up. we're trying to open our economies were trying to get back to doing the things we want to be doing and it's pretty clear the safest way to do that is for us to be wearing masks most of the time. >>the state's goal for santa clara county is getting the word out on the importance of wearing masks in public places and also the risks involved with attending mass gatherings. >>and several restaurants in san francisco are now open for outdoor dining for the first time in months but in order to open restaurants have to follow several rules to keep customers safe safe as possible. we saw some restaurants along fishermans woerth with tables set at a safe distance apart, some restaurants even had walls of glass up to create physical distancing outdoor restaurant reopening guidelines were announced just last thursday night. but you know it just wasn't enough time for some businesses to get ready. >>the staffing, you know sanitizing everything organizing that how they're

going to how the slowest service work paying off their vendors spot and food it just wasn't really possible for them to make it work. >>and then another challenge for some restaurants is just not being able to afford to reopen and that's especially the case for places in downtown san francisco have a restaurant downtown you know officers are still closer no workers. no conventions, no tourists and for them. it's more expensive to open that it is to stay closed. >>breaking news from overnight 8 people were wounded in the shooting outside of a bar in san antonio texas. police say a man opened fire after he was turned away from the bar. the shooter claimed to be a ufc fighter and was part of a group that was turned away from the bar because they were intoxicated that's when the shooter grabbed a rifle from his car and then opened fire 5 women and 3 men were wounded, there's no word on their condition this morning and the shooter is still on the loose. coming up this morning. there is a controversy on the bart board of directors about the agency's code of conduct is it

>>welcome back everyone san francisco mayor london breed says the city will provide more than a million dollars in emergency food relief for people affected by the covid-19 pandemic so the money was raised through the city soda tax. it will be used to buy meals for low income people seniors, pregnant women, an undocumented immigrants now that money will also support the san francisco unified school district's free lunch program for students during the pandemic. >>and the slow return to normal means no more free par-ing in oakland as drivers will soon have to pay for metered street parking once again. the city says the parking meter operations will a start up again in oakland on july 6th. the rates will remain the same at all street meters and in city owned garages and lots. looking at temperatures for the most part of the 50's across most of the real estate in all this cloud cover for now give it a couple

morning, everybody and you know speaking of all of that we have this unsettled stuff going on the good news is from our perspective, it's actually going to clear out for the balance of the day today. >>and then you know the way it happens overnight key point clearing out during the day so we get most of that quote nasty enough the nasty stuff with it. that happens during the overnight hours like we had basically overnight to this morning, here's the golden gate bridge. and we are crossing into the bridges there you don't have any interference with the winds they just go wash right across the water and therefore the bridge span so keep that in mind your travels we do have little bit of a breeze that with us and we'll stay with us it looks like into the light. we've got the upper 50's going on the east bay shoreline for now opened at 6 to 56 san francisco lot of 50's up here the north bay and 58 meanwhile for san jose so is putting into motion there you can see the leftover cloud cover and some radar echoes up to northern california. even down around the bay near waters edge, you might pick up a little bit of drizzle. you know enough to dirty up the car yet again, and looks like that will happen for tonight if your car is parked outside a little bit. here's what

happens in future cast for great saturday overnight boom here we go back to the peninsula coast. the north a little bit but have no fear for your sunday opens up nicely for the afternoon again so do the whole thing with maybe some morning clouds and fog. breaks up for the afternoon that is also keeping temperatures down a little bit now with daytime heating. we'll probably get a little bit of the way that afternoon breeze kicking up here, although it's covering a lot of real estate up in the north bay in the east bay oily out of the west you will notice. and then it dies down a little bit for overnight. and for tomorrow again. we look for temperatures to be a little warmer though than today so today's going to be kind of cool in those inland valleys because we've got 70's over most of the bay, mostly sunny and pleasant on balance so forget this picture in the background this is just this morning. the cloud cover unsettled overnight and early which i talked about and then warm inland with 80's back tomorrow sore going to be actually warming up in some of those inland valleys will notice it. more so than today next week we continue that trend with 80's and even 90's

returning by the middle of the week you'll see that the extended 65 san francisco 68 for oakland. nice for san jose coming in at 73 look across the greater region yellows out there in the far east bay with 70's got mid 70's up there the north bay 73 meanwhile for san jose than the peninsula's grabbing a few lower 70's and 60's out towards the coast back to you. all right dave thanks lot back to the news this morning, the death penalty is on the table in the murder of santa cruz. >>deputy damon gutzwiller he was killed last weekend in that ambush attack prosecutors are now considering that option again stephen the accused shooter kron four's rob fladeboe has more on that from santa cruz. >>outside santa cruz county superior court friday. there were sharp shooters on the roof canine units sweeping the grounds and many patrol vehicles blocking access to the courthouse. inside though accused cop killer steven carrillo appeared in court on video from monterrey where

he's being held for his own protection the 32 year-old active duty air force sergeant ordering few words in acknowledging his arraignment in the june 6 ambush in ben lomond sheriff's deputies during which sergeant damon gutzwiller was killed. >>and 2 other law enforcement officers injured in a 15 page complaint carrillo is charged with 19 felonies including first degree murder attempted murder lying in wait possession of explosives with intent to murder carjacking and assault on a firefighter. after allegedly ambushing his victims. carrillo was tackled and disarmed by a would be carjack victim, calm and attentive it is hearing curley said by a fellow service member and others to have held a grudge against law enforcement carrillo's crimes were willful deliberate and premeditated says district attorneys jeffrey zoe. >>this individual as i said who ambushed. searching that's

will bring you more details as we learn more. >>back to the south bay this morning after more than a year of review, the santa clara county district attorney's office says a deadly officer involved shooting in santa clara was lawful. it happened early in the morning of january 5th of 2019 it was at the rotten robbie gas station on lafayette street. 4 police officer shot and killed 54 year-old sean kennedy. the officers said they could hear and see shooting going on inside the store and that several people had already been shot in a 33 page public report the county's d a wrote that the officers lawfully shot and killed the gunman and that their conduct was quote undoubtedly saved lives. well san jose mayor sam liccardo is pushing to ban police for using rubber bullets for crowd control. >>the proposal is now headed to the city council. it also directs the independent police auditor to create a way for those who attended protests in

san jose for may 29 through june for us to report any injuries at the hands of police the auditor will have until counsel the special report. demonstrators held a sit-in right in front of mayor liccardo is home last night they said it was to honor the name of spirit and memory of those killed by san jose police the group is calling for the city to allocate funds only accessible to black lead community organizations as well as long-term support for families affected by police violence among them jason rae is the cousin of anthony nunez who was shot and killed by san jose police back in 2016. >>i feel empowered now that a lot of people across the country are finally awakened the reality of this you know our police chief went on tv and said that sounds he doesn't have a problem we're not ferguson. well my response to that was because i was at the city council meeting when this occurred. i told him what would you do need a for example for you to realize there's a problem here.

>>welcome back everyone in national news, the white house is proposing a series of changes to us asylum laws that could drastically limit who can qualify. >>critics say that this comes as most americans are distracted by the pandemic and national civil unrest but supporters say the changes will simplify and speed up a backlog system our washington correspondent alexandra le mon has details. >>the trump administration is proposing sweeping changes to us asylum laws. it's important that judges have the tools and asylum officers have the tools to renew frivolous applications lower east with the heritage foundation says the proposed changes will speed up the system for those who are truly in danger applying for asylum. >>has taken longer and longer because so many people are applying for it, but the proposal includes so many changes but advocates for asylum, seekers say meeting the new standards will be nearly impossible basically making it such that 99% of people who i for asylum won't

spahr sending by that it will be good morning marty and robin good morning, everybody and a check in with our winds were talking earlier about a little bit of a breeze and a little caution going across bay area bridges in the teens you can see across mid bay for the most part around the delta. it also picks up to pretty common with an onshore wind like that live shot coming in from u c berkeley we see some sun trying to poke in some of those fog clouds a little bit sore improving already at this hour expect the afternoon to be pretty nice with those temperatures nice and controlled for us. we do have the sole disturbance moving through that to march through overnight. we have another one into overnight tonight. so the timing of this is perfect. it's happening during the overnight hours and then conditions clear both today and tomorrow afternoon 60's for open from 4 right now, 59 hayward 55 for free mobile got 57 meanwhile, san francisco. mid-fifties up to the north bay, although 59 and 58 san jose for today as we can squint and see a little bit of sun try to come out a little bit out of those clouds by 11 we're mostly sunny at

up getting caught in an area filled with tear gas and she says police were shooting rubber bullets. now doctor brown has come up with a list to help you stay safe at a demonstration. >>everything just heard within. a few minutes and it became very violent turn from both ends and there were a couple 1000 and the police started using tear gas we really recommend everybody where and 95 covered with a cloth mask able to are coupled with one of the yellow surgical masks as well as bringing extra masks in case you do get exposed to chemicals so that you can then change and then put on another mask, so that you're staying safe from prying eyes are staying as you possibly can from any chemicals expose joe. >>doctor brown says ucsf has increased the number of i wash stations and showers that they have in their emergency department for those people who have been exposed to chemicals. she believes that the need for these will increase as the protests continue. most important thing to do she says is to rent remain calm if you're exposed

to tear gas. >>well to the north bay now some gyms can now reopen if they meet the new health guidelines the training last 7.14 fitness center in the nation reopened friday morning with about half the numbers of people in classes. the owner of the gym says that they don't require mass since their kickboxing classes are high intense intensity. cardio people can have trouble breathing. but they are enforcing social distancing by placing these little dots right there on the mats and their 7 feet apart. they are all they also have a designated separate entrances for people who are coming in and going out so that they don't have to pass each other. >>it's going to the gym and having the social distant energy, you know it's just totally different which is what we all crave when we want to work out right is the energy from other people how life is different we know at the time also has cleaning supplies for members and staff and structures also get their temperatures taken before helping others work up a sweat. >>san francisco mayor london

breed says the city has settled a lawsuit that was filed by tenderloin merchants and the u c hazing school of law. the suit demanded that the city clean up the area and move the homeless into shelters. in the lawsuit the university and the merchants called on the city to address unsanitary conditions in the tenderloin area amidst the coronavirus pandemic the city says it will be removing up to 300 tents and encampments by july 20th that number represents about 70% of the tents and encampments that were documented during the census last week, the homeless in the area will be offered free covid-19 testing and we'll be right relocated to a hotel room or another safe sleeping site. >>well if you're bored are looking for something fun to do drive in concerts are heading to the bay area how does that sound so the alameda county fair of course has been council the council for the first time. in its long history because of the coronavirus pandemic but this weekend they're going to be hosting the bay area's first drive in concert so on

saturday and sunday. the fairgrounds will host 3 cover bands are you ready charney who zz top pay than a land sounds fun right this is going to be from 7 to 10:00pm each night doors open at 6. >>may be a little pricey but it's a 100 bucks, it's you know it's okay if you don't have anything to do its a 100 bucks per vehicle. >>you can buy the tickets in advance or at gate. well i think i want to head over. i like that yeah i'll take my mom with me well to the peninsula now the 7 super superior court will be resuming jury trials on monday. and there will be new restrictions in place to try to limit the spread of covid-19 the county made the announcement on twitter friday afternoon also tweeting this picture right here. jurors will have to check in at one of these outdoor tents for a health screening. before they're allowed to actually enter the courthouse and then of course seating arrangements will be in place inside of the building they've also been changed around a bit to allow for physical distance e.

loosened in more places begin to reopen state health officials are keeping a watchful eye on surges in several counties kron four's dan thorn reports that one source of concern is santa clara county. the california department of public health is targeting santa clara county along with 10 others for a surge in new cases the south bay county is where the country's first covid-19 death was recorded, but the concern is the growing number of hospitalizations. >>the state says drivers of this growth could be the increase in testing or people from neighboring counties coming to santa clara county for care. despite the number of hospitalizations going up the increase in the absolute number of patients in hospitals is low considering the amount of people who live in santa clara county. as officials monitor these outbreaks people can follow along on a new state website. it points out which counties are being watched and also shows a day to chart tracking the number of tests the number of cases and the rate of

county. but now the concern is growing about the number of hospitalizations there. the state says there could be a number of factors, including an increase in testing and people from other counties coming to santa clara for care. now despite the number of hospitalizations the increase in the absolute number of patients in hospitals, there is low, considering the number of people who live in santa clara county. ucsf epidemiologist says that the best way to prevent their spread remains wearing face coverings even with loosened restrictions. >>we're trying to do is open up. we're trying to open our economies were trying to get back to doing the things we want to be doing and it's pretty clear the safest way to do that is for us to be wearing masks most of the time. >>and the state's goal for santa clara county is getting the word out on the importance of wearing masks in public and the risks that are involved with going to mass gatherings. some are restaurants and san francisco are now open for outdoor dining for the first
