wrapped up their first night of lockdown it's this is a very extreme step to try and slow the spread. >>of the coronavirus a cost california, san francisco could go in the curfew tonight as well now every county in the east bay and all but one county in the north bay are under the curfew this morning and will be at least for the next month or so kron four's reyna harvey live in alameda county with a look at how they did overnight >>morning good morning. you know i start my mornings pretty early and have a sense of how traffic is and people are out in the streets and for the most part they were not that many people out this morning. i know it's sunday but even for sunday out here they were not that many people out and about and people are really split on the issue some people say it's necessary some people tell me they do not want to be locked in their homes now we are also hearing from one of our local congresswoman barbara lee she actually took to twitter yesterday to speak about that limited stay at home orders.

she says here. we cannot expect people to stay at home without giving them the resources and support to do so that's why we need covid-19 relief today so over the next month we are in this regardless of how we feel here's a reminder of what you need to know over the next month all nonessential and from 10 o'clock until daily you can go get takeout if you'd like you can go for a walk routine activities are allowed essential businesses are allowed to remain open nonessential businesses do have to close that order is set to expire december 21st those counties alameda napa contra costa solano sonoma santa clara are all under this order in the next few days hopefully we're going to get some more clarity on how they plan to enforce it now mari the next step is just watching those counties that are currently in the red here to see how long they're going to stay there and if they're

covid-19 on friday as well as 86 new deaths there are now more than 1 million confirmed cases here in california alone and the cases positivity rate over the past 7 days is now greater than 6%. meantime pfizer is applied for emergency authorization of its covid vaccine and that's the last hurdle that it must clear before the company can distribute its vaccine to hospitals and health centers around the world. doctors at the fda will spend the next few weeks poring over all of pfizer's data giving it a final look the fda is expected to grant pfizer the emergency authorization use and that's something that only happens during major public health crisis. >>if the data proves out the way it has been announced before if the companies are transparent if everything works as as we would hope for we could literally be seeing authorization within weeks and what we've said is we are ready to ship millions of doses of that vaccine within

some clouds returning a little on wednesday. we'll have that in the long range forecast alright, dave, thanks a lot, let's get to another big story we're following that's the 6 alarm fire in the downtown berkeley apartment building. >>that was under construction. it started about 5.30 saturday afternoon, dozens of people were forced to evacuate the neighboring buildings fortunately, no injuries were reported. it happened at the corner of university in shaddick just west of the cal campus and it forced firefighters to close university avenue in both directions from most of the night as they battle that giant blaze. dozens of firefighters were fighting the fire of and it could smoke could be seen the fire for pg e crews shut off electricity to the area. the assistant fire chief said that trying to put out a fire at a construction site brings added dangers and challenges for firefighters. >>this is a building that you know hard to get in.

this applies to sonoma napa solano contra costa alameda and santa clara counties, all of them in purple this morning. but murray in san francisco and san mateo counties or in the slightly less restrictive red tier. now although san francisco could wind up in the purple tier later today now the new stay at home orders or from 10 o'clock at night through 00:00am in the morning and they expire on december 21st people in los angeles show their opposition to the latest curfew with this large protests. this is in huntington beach last night. the orange county sheriff's office has said it would not it would not enforce the curfew with fines but they would step if it was declared an unlawful assembly, but we've not getting any news on whether or not they made that declaration and there's no word this morning that there will be similar protest moving forward. now take a look at case numbers across california state officials reporting a record breaking 15,000 new

morning all right, thanks a lot for that live report from the east bay. >>right now there's no curfew order in san francisco county but as rhonda mentioned that could change later today in the past month covid-19 cases have nearly quadrupled in the county. local health leaders are warning that if this trend continues san francisco could reach the purple tier at some point later today and that would put the city under the new lockdown and curfew order. now let's take a look at case state health officials reported a record breaking 15,000 new cases of covid-19 on friday as we as 86 new deaths there are now more than 1 million confirmed cases here in california. sethe cases positivity rate is over the past 7 days is also now greater then 6%. meantime pfizer has applied for emergency authorization of its covid vaccine. now this is the last hurdle, the company must clear before it can distribute
