and then do that throughout your whole and then you can also go in reverse go back the other way, but it really slows down your breathing what you're doing is first, we have to watch your fingers and then you're actually touching 2 fingers and and this is kind crowding out that century area and your your your brain can only hold it is it is a much better than just straight and you can do this several times a day. you can do it anytime anytime you feel stressed yeah, anytime ok any time, especially before you go to sleep because we as we talked about last week stress and and interrupt your sleep cycle too right so you can just before going to bed or right before eating before any stress speaking great idea and and speaking of the team you say

it did the same thing yesterday it's going to do the same thing a little bit tomorrow morning, although not as much 33 for a little more about the way for tri valley, 37 for 34 for concord but we do have 42 going on for hayward and for comparison sake there you see a couple pockets will cooler this morning like a fairfield 7 degrees behind. but half moon bay in the peninsula, but a warmer this morning. live shot coming in from the golden gate will see fog going on here pretty nice start to the day little bit of a breeze to couple with that. meanwhile, while the creek you can see well a little bit aes at least left over. but a general shot of what's going on there now that's going to challenge highs today a little bit because of that factor there we see the fog take a lot of kind of mix out and it takes it all the way into around the noon hour least from our vantage point the central valley that's going to be more of a problem and that will probably keep their temps down. you see some of the coastal fog up there in the north bay return. tell only tonight and then from monday morning will do the same thing around the delta with that to fog spilling on him for today noting the morning fog mostly

frustration about the distribution of the current moderna vaccine well now the army general who is in charge of getting covid-19 vaccines across the country is apologizing for a quote miscommunication with states over a number of doses to be delivered in the early stages of distribution. i failed. i am adjusting i am fix scene and we will move forward from there. that is general gustav perna has his his apology comes after governors in more than a dozen states including california. so the federal government told them that next week shipment of the pfizer vaccine will be less than originally projected. the general says the government's now on track to get approximately 20 million doses to states by the first week of january. now this will be a combination of the pfizer and moderna vaccines. this morning. we're also following the state's latest icu bed capacity, the san joaquin valley region and southern california have 0 icu beds available for patients today

>>good morning, we're back and say 14 this sunday morning hope you're nice and warm as we have some chilly temperatures around the bay area this morning day was talking about 20 degree temperatures in the north bay did we did have a but they recovered a little bit now other up to a balmy 32 known about it so well to ring that's where was my bathing suit anyway, we've got temperatures we're covering now but we're probably one of the coolest temperatures we're going to see so far for the day. >>recovering into the 50's in the 60's for those highs, one of the areas that's going to lag hours around the delta because we're dealing with some of the 2 least central a valley fog. right now the temperatures stand in the 20's up here this pocket, a pair of the north bay that's somewhat typical but off to the east bay here cut 41 which is pretty nice but 34 conquered livermore 33 in all tri valley, the cold air tends to settle in the valleys there like that 42 for hayward 39 oakland we saw that yesterday in 45 meanwhile for san francisco. so all in all you know it's the winter months we have short days, but lots of
8:16 am
sunshine going on today and we don't see anything really interfering with that one a note the shot here coming in from timber on we're seeing kind of fog coming from a different direction typically comes in from this direction our typical advection fog over the golden gate, but either way really can't see it from this vantage point let's get a little closer there we go and there you see the fog off to the distance there. unlike which we see out to the coast here more typically. all right what's going on with future cast is we get into tuesday. we see kind of a weak system that we initially had some hope that maybe picking up some rain showers out of this, but it doesn't really look that likely scattered clouds on balance. we'll see for tuesday that will also correct our temperatures to finish off the week. not too much happens until we get to run christmas day and then by christmas night looks like some showers developing. so mostly sunny mild and nice clouds fog near the delta that's going to compromise highs today and a lot contra costa county too. for this week, scattered clouds late. in the week and then highs hang in the 60's and then drop late in the week
8:17 am
as well that's because it could be responsible thing on tuesday was talked about next weekend rain possible friday night into saturday with a breather on sunday only to return monday, it looks like in the long range forecast models, but hey we need the rain and the timing looks to be decent with us central valley because of that fog that they have their share of a fog advisory in place for the dense fog 56 fresno 57 for bakersfield, sometimes will happen is we we get a nice strong high. you get this fog layer right here in the valley in a just can't clear you have overcast all day i think we'll get some clearing later on this afternoon, but that can be a problem and we're getting some of that spilling into the delta ever so slight 61 san francisco 77 for san diego. back again on the home front of 63 for oakland. that's pretty pleasant we're matching that for san jose mild again mostly sunny on balance for today. the wider scope of looking at noticeably so cooler temperatures to the far east bay in the mid 50's 59
8:18 am
going on for livermore and up here the north bay while santa rosa popping at 66 64 nevado when you consider temperatures as i mentioned earlier that dip to the upper 20's like or 30 degree skyrocketing high. that's a pretty good accomplishment. coming up a little bit later on we'll have that 4 zone forecast and also looking at that extended to marty ok dave seeing a couple minutes. thank you, let's get to some developing news. this morning is cyber security experts are calling the recent hack of federal agencies and private companies. >>one of the most significant and far-reaching cyber attacks on the u.s. government ever. officials say that all signs point to russia being behind the attack but as john fund reports president trump says otherwise. tonight president trump is refusing to condemn russia for a bass cyber attack against the u.s. government, the president responding to the cyber espionage operation for the first time on twitter downplaying the attack insisting everything is under control and suggesting without evidence that china may be responsible. >>the president's tweets came

...made me think of all the things that i wanted to teach my kids. my doctor said i could start on keytruda... ...so i did. with each scan things just got better. in a clinical study, keytruda offered patients a longer life than chemotherapy. and it could be your first treatment. for non-small cell lung cancer that has spread, keytruda can be used... ...for adults who test positive for "pd-l1"... ...and whose tumors... ...do not havean abnormal "egfr" or "alk" gene. keytruda is not chemotherapy... it's the immunotherapy used to treat more patients with advanced lung cancer than any other. keytruda helps your immune system fight cancer but can also cause your immune system to attack healthy parts of your body. this can happen during or after treatment and may be severe and lead to death. see your doctor right away if you have new or worse cough, chest pain, shortness of breath, diarrhea, severe stomach pain or tenderness, nausea or vomiting, rapid heartbeat, increased hunger or thirst, constipation, dizziness or fainting, changes in urine or eyesight, muscle pain or weakness, joint pain, confusion or memory problems, fever, rash, itching, or flushing. these are not all the possible side effects.
9:29 am
tell your doctor about all your medical conditions, including immune system problems, if you've had an organ transplant, had or plan to have a stem cell transplant, or have lung, breathing, or liver problems. before, i'd think of the stuff i might miss. but now with keytruda, we have hope. it's tru. keytruda from merck. ask your doctor about keytruda.
9:30 am
>>good morning welcome back we've been checking out the big picture window out here notice the flags flapping in the breeze a bit windy out there. it is it is windy. but i mean it looks pretty gorgeous out there to we've some really good sunshine even though the winter is upon us right winter is coming because standing i think he's got some details on just how chilly we might be this week good morning, good morning clear skies temperatures able to fall overnight same thing we saw from yesterday to in technically is we're joining you this morning. it is still fall, i mean according to astronomers all that kind of stuff logical winner begins december first, but whatever. >>35 going on for santa rosa right now 44 for napa also matched in any off with 44 conquered, it's been trailing in the east bay like that all this morning. and it's because of taking care of some of that to fog that will cost the highs a little bit this afternoon. now it should be pretty dry as we go into the this is a live shot as we see
9:31 am
from half moon bay, lots of sunshine. the fog that we're talking about not happening from the coast which is typical for miss more from the east in the central valley, it's spilling on and with as you can see from the wind profiles here a little bit of an offshore wind that we have a breeze at that a look ahead today, 57 by one by 4.55, although we're going to see a lot of spots there will be in the 60's going on for today and we'll be looking into that the 4 zone forecast and also check into that extended to look for the next shot of rain back to you guys. >>all right, thanks dave our top story, this half hour workers began packaging shipments of moderna's covid-19 vaccine. this morning, this is the second authorized covid-19 vaccine here in the u.s. and the distribution of these much needed shots are expected as soon as tomorrow and some parts of the country. governor newsom says california is vaccine committee though is going to provide an extra set of eyes to review the moderna vaccine over the next couple of days, joining us to talk a little bit more about the vaccine. the back scenes, i
9:32 am
guess and our current icu status is ucsf infectious disease expert doctor peter chan, hong thanks so much for joining us. >>thanks to >>of course we've been talking to you pretty much every day i become a regular yeah over the last 10 months we do want to get started i want to talk a little bit about the pfizer vaccine distribution it already has begun there at san francisco general started last week how is distribution going and i'm curious have you gotten your vaccine yet. >>no i haven't got my vaccine yet a lot of people ask me that question and the reason is actually for a good reason which is that ucsf to not you know doctor is owner says but to also think about the front in videos like food service staff because studio side and i the people are really actually at the front line so it was it's the being done randomly and because we have thousands and thousands of people in that frontline we're
9:33 am
just waiting for numbers to be called that i was really pleased that the first wrists and ucsf to get was one of a long custodial that's nice to hear because they are so often forgotten in situations like this and they are essential workers. >>just like anyone else who's working at the hospital. >>exactly and i'm i'm willing to just wait as long as it's done in that equitable way >>when it comes to the moderna vaccine we're talking we're excited obviously to get more to those front-line workers for us, but the governor says that the state is going to do an independent review of it did they do that for the pfizer vaccine. >>they did but it was very very quick. i had happened over the weekend actually it happened one week ago on sunday and that mechanism was set in the middle yeah if you remember when there was talk of using the vaccine for political capital in an election year so a bunch of
9:34 am
states including california and washington and new york had a very similar they decide how they want independent i'll just look at the data as a failed state. but if judging from what he did but pfizer last week was very very quick. >>so when would we expect to see vaccinations of the moderna of version of the covid-19 vaccine. take place here in california and in the bay area. >>i would think state board will review and accept that and i think that as soon us monday on tuesday we'll see it being rolled out in california and in the bay area. and the reason is that we already had the infrastructure we already have the list of means being called so we don't have to create that anymore. it's just a matter of having the shipment come in which actually frankly is going to be more. streamlined because it's being done through mckesson rather than sort of
9:35 am
like lines like the pfizer vaccine that you know so mckesson as you said distributing large amounts of you know supplies across the u.s.. i think it's going to be smooth ice actually going to be a lot more probably 2 to 2 and a half times the amount that we've gotten with pfizer. >>do you know the number that the ucsf is expected to receive. >>i'm not really sure about the dose but i think by the end of the year with supposed to get something like 20 to 25,000 but alone as opposed to a few 1000 of pfizer. >>without getting too technical can you explain to the lay person some of the differences between each of these vaccines and how they attack the virus. >>yes, so they're more similar than what what happens is that it's just an attic the message that's why it's called mrna the and sends a message and it brings out a message to the
9:36 am
south and that says hey cell become a factory for making spike proteins and these proteins or the body reacts to but it's not the virus and when the real virus comes the body's already trained difference between the 2 is one is hearty and then the other that moderna's kind of like an m and m prizes like i think it's right, it's just a little bit it's not as easily start so that because it's not as it's easy to start of journey you can use it in more rural communities. it can see in the phrase from an with just a few days i see it. >>and the pfizer vaccine is the only one that's kind of being worked on right now that is in that ultra cold that needs to be starting that ultra cold charles call negative 17 degrees celsius faces negative 20. >>moderna >>and now with we're getting word the johnson and johnson has going to start their trials next month. any other standing in line here as well that we're going to start to see this flood of prototypes.
9:37 am
>>even ahead of johnson johnson is astrazeneca may have been front runner for a long time. but people a little bit confused by that data was sure that after this was better than the photos so i think there sifting through but that that one is easier started cheaper and the is really cool because it's just one shot that you need set of 2 shots. >>well i think obviously we're talking all about how important it is to get these vaccines because of just how dire situation is right now here in california and around the world really we've seen you know london go back into lockdown as well and so i'm curious what icu capacity is looking like here in san francisco, what what are you guys dealing with right now. >>so we're probably the last man standing in the state with a safe house. everyone else is kind of 0% light sow cow and central we still have some capacity but like what we saw in imperial county when
9:38 am
they're exploding early in the year and with san quentin. it's a really before time to fall we not only take care of our own people but take some of the from other counties. >>doctor as a medical professional watching all of these companies come up with these vaccines in record time. what what's the impact to you as a doctor to see this happening because this this is unprecedented. >>i mean i i'm just i'm so full of emotion and. when think about it because you know thank god we live in 2020 and not you know even 5 or 10 years ago because this would not have been able to take place mean think that was the driver of this was really mapping out the structure that genome of the map of covid of sars could be causes covid and that took hours in 2020, versus you know another yet might have taken weeks or months to do and because of
9:39 am
not was led out early on by chinese scientists actually scientists were able to take the message for just specific parts of the virus and then make the not road map. >>i mean i think that it's in it's almost you know beyond what only understand his we're not scientists we're not doctors here but and i think that right now of you mentioned you know the political play that kind of played into why california is doing this extra set of eyes to to look at this vaccine. a lot of people are concerned wanting to wait to not really sure they want to get the vaccine right away. but every doctor i've spoken to says as soon as it's available you should feel safe receiving it. >>yes, and can't wait to get myself hopefully will be my christmas present this i understand why people feel has though and even at ucsf we're not mandating that south get but people can different to us long as they feel comfortable,
9:40 am
but i hope that over time when you know people personally about net and everything seems ok that people feel more encouraged. >>yeah it's going to be that word of mouth is not a doctor. >>yeah, definitely. >>doctor thank you so much for joining us on a busy sunday and in sharing this news with us again this this past week just been incredible to watch just as a lay person but as but as a physician as a medical professional must be something just to see how how quickly things are turning around in terms of these vaccines. >>definitely it's kind of like the time when you look back on you be telling. family members and future generations, you know i lived through that 2020 covid pandemic and it's just more significant than the 1918 pandemic after doctor, peter, chin-hong with ucsf thanks so much for joining us. we appreciate it stay safe. >>thanks to party all right. thank you we'll be right back.
9:43 am
>>good morning, everybody welcome back 9.43 this sunday morning. >>it the week of christmas. christmas is it's always does and it's nice and chilly as we're getting into week so it's kind dave spahr standing by with a look at the details a day of a good morning guys good morning we're still hanging a lot of 40's going on here as you can see across the
9:44 am
board which is a little better than we had from just recently about a half hour ago or so we have a lot more 30's, 35 for example the santa rosa. so a little bit of a recovery we've had but it's been slow going a lot of the east bay because of that morning fog that we've had a little bit a different direction that we typically have is comes in from the west has most of the track that we have 48 for open 44 conquered this hour 35 me well up to santa rosa that's kind of the chilly spot for now being sprayed by some high cloudiness just a touch a little bit as you can notice there on balance though nothing really changes to we get about tuesday or into wednesday live shot from half moon bay here as you can see clear skies pretty good as we start this is typically we would see the fog not so much coming in from the east speaking of which going forward with this this will break up, but in the next couple of hours, but that may linger a little bit for a few hours before we start to get some clearing fog returns here along the coast and then it redevelop says you will see here as we get into monday morning. all right and future
9:45 am
cast for this is the longer-range forecast this one looks a little bit more exciting if you will for us to get some rain but there's a disagreement on that we get sprayed with some cloudiness and temperatures will be brought down a bit. but the real action will probably happen is we get into the weekend now the timing on that is still also up in the air but it looks to be friday night christmas night as we get into saturday with a little break on sunday and another dose into monday, it looks like as you can see for the second slam that comes in. now this will come with some colder air aloft that will help bring us some hail and some claps of thunder as well, central valley, you're looking at highs into the upper 50's near about 64 baker still that's where the fall came in 61 san francisco 77 going on for san diego, a check in your 4 zone forecast 58 for marina district it looks like at the coast we're going 62 daly city pacifica at 58 along the bay side were in the lower 60's millbrae around the 6061 for burlingame and on the south
9:46 am
we're also looking at some lower 60's to of palo alto 63 redwood city 63 in 61 from mountain view in the south bay, 66 morgan hill, 63 santa clara 63 cupertino and the east bay shoreline to the south lower to middle 60's tri valley to about 60 or so again the fog is slowing the temperature climb are kind of robbing some of the daytime heating early on that will as you see conquer to 5559 for walnut creek and 59 for berkeley solano county lower 60's inland looks like, but look at all those 50's lined up here on the delta again, the fog is responsible for that with mid to upper 50's there. meanwhile 66 for santa rosa and lower 60's heading down the south so many forecaster let's do this thing first of all on tuesday that's we get some scattered clouds and work here that will clear out a little bit. scattered showers into friday night lingering into saturday. there's a break on sunday with another dose expected into sunday meanwhile, the lows will stay in the 30's, it looks like through the period
9:47 am
and we've got the 40's at the coast. all right dave thanks a lot on the peninsula, san mateo police are investigating a deadly shooting at a wells fargo bank parking lot it happened saturday morning. >>police found an unresponsive man who was later pronounced dead witnesses say another man fired at least 5 shots at him before taking off. police say this was a targeted shooting and did not involve the bank in any way. >>new developments on the head a little woman who said a couple tried to kidnap her children it turns out the charge was not true. and now the couple she accused says they were racially profiled battle in the police have interviewed the couple and confirm they did not to do anything wrong. since the police cleared the couple social media has now pushed back hard against the woman who accused are accused of making the charge katy sorenson some even dubbing her kidnap katie the couple says they want her prosecuted for filing a false police report. >>so to get up and go shopping
