8:46 am
to have rain in these kind of winds going on for the early to mid morning, commuting kind of thing and then as it gets late in the morning, the winds really start kicking in here can see 20's up here the north bay even 30's in the east bay notice with the least amount out of the south bay short lived one of the reasons why don't have a widespread wind advisory posted it just is not going to last long enough and fairly calm by the time we get to monday night into tuesday or rain translates to tahoe snow check it out. we've got a storm warning going on up there for tomorrow now that will be for potentially a foot to maybe 2 feet of snow added to this a break on tuesday more coming on wednesday, but we should note in both cases both bay area rain and the snow on wednesday won't be the intensity of monday. so for today it's morning fog clouds clearing with better clearing south and east live shot here as you can see the bay bridge toll plaza, then for tomorrow predawn showers breezy rain heavy at times and windy all packaged in there and then for this week showers return wednesday, not the same
8:47 am
intensity and then more on friday, it looks like let's watch this all in motion. there's that hit tomorrow morning a break wednesday, not the intensity and then into friday looks like we may be able to salvage part of the weekend but there might be an eruption from yet a new system here comes as our king happening here which may cut off successive systems from impacting us, how's the drought going to fare will take a picture of this let's see what happens another week or so the use check on thursdays. the progress where we stand what that will allow to rain events and not counting we early this weekend to add to maybe we'll get that extreme taken out of there hopefully a look at our forecast today, 56 san francisco, 59 oakland, san jose at 60 better clearing to the south and east it looks like for today across the wider bay upper 50's near about 60 we'll do it checking out your 70 forecast rain monday wednesday friday, some unsettled weather into the weekend. we do see dropped into the 30's which tell us the skies clear in the air tries to dry out meanwhile 40's happening at the coast. marty okay day thanks a lot.

>>well it's good to a big story that we're following this morning congress will formally count the votes cast by turrell college on wednesday in washington d c it is the final step from joe biden's victory in the presidential election. >>that's right but 12 republican senators are actually trying to block that certification. they're demanding an emergency audit of the results in states where voter fraud has been alleged, but never proven and join us to talk about that more jonathan madison he is the bay area, vice chair of the republican party. jonathan good morning. thanks so much for joining us this morning. good morning, thanks for having let's start with the fact that there's been no evidence of widespread fought fraud in the why are these republicans wanted to do this. >>first of all it's just an independent body its a commission that the requesting that be appointed by congress, a bipartisan commission at that that you just do some follow-up investigation to ensure that nothing go wrong.
9:36 am
there's always the possibility that of oversight or that you miss something right so it's better to err on the side of caution particularly in democracy such as this nation's and if you recall the democrats. contest of election is also 2016 for the past 4 so even with win as far as launching impeachment proceedings, suggesting that the unduly influence the election with foreign powers. you know and so to whether or not those claims are substantiated or not it really depends and you have to take into consideration. the claims being made. and so i don't think there's anything wrong with further investigation. i think the question should be on the on the left on the side of the democrats to say why not some investigation just to make sure that their conclusions regarding the results of the election are not fools so i think that more transparency is a good thing it makes our democracy what it is. >>does something like
9:37 am
potentially stop the transition of i know that. biden's team has been talking a little bit about the issues that they have been having in terms of getting the correct information that they need to have a peaceful transfer of power does make it. slower process. >>not at all and in it's actually a 10 day audit. yes, specifically so in theory this will be a commission that takes about a period of 10 days. you recall that the united ration is more than 10 days from now in order to do this audit is just that an investigation of fact-finding investigation time period immediately after those 10 days passed the results of that investigation will be passed to the individual states remember it's only those handful of disputed stage right and sylvania. >>arizona some of those other states. it's going to be passed along to those states and the choice is going to be given to those states to hold a special legislative session.
9:38 am
right that's going to enable them to certify whether or not they voted correctly, the first time. so within that 10 day period there's very little risk run beyond the inauguration time frame and back and the risk is so low said there is almost no risk at but that's not an issue here. you may hear news media outlets that suggested it is an issue, but it's just a 10 acre. >>is it also an issue that the 12 senators who are who are calling for this or just trying to gain favor with president trump and his supporters looking ahead for years for a possible presidential run on their own. >>can't speak for all of them in terms of their motives are intense, but you know i think the biggest motive intent here is not to gain favor with the president particularly as he's on his way out right i mean. president elect biden it it's it's almost concluded by a number of people that he's going to be the next president right so i don't think their
9:39 am
motive is just to gain favor with the outgoing president i think that the ultimate motive here is to ensure accountability to ensure that the american people are taking advantage of to ensure that every vote is cast and to ensure that to the extent that there is voter fraud. there is some kind of ballot integrity issueout there there's always the potential for oversight that we fully investigate the facts and the claims of which that are that are being made so. i think that's the biggest issue that's the biggest motive. >>as the american people continue i know that you know relief checks have started to come out obviously we're still in the middle of of this pandemic has a lot of the american people as we've nancy pelosi's home has you know ben vandalized as well as senate majority leader mitch mcconnell's home. people are getting frustrated thinking that our lawmakers are not doing everything they can to help us get through this pandemic that we're in is this something that our senators should be focusing on right
9:40 am
now. >>i think it is something that they should be focusing on at the heart of every issue right there that you just mentioned by the way my heart does go out to. you speaker nancy pelosi and mitch for the euro tax their transpired but i think the heart of this issue is that the american people i feel that they're not accurately are fully represented just be represented by their lawmakers. and i think that to the extent we have more transparency. one last investigation of the facts so to speak here. i don't think that's going to do any harm. i think they can only do good for the american people and i think to think that to suggest that. i think that to suggest that. having another 10 day review into whether these allegations are false or true. someone is against that you can't have to raise your eyebrows and say why. so i think that these issues that
9:41 am
perhaps the commission's finding if approved. could do more good for the american people. bad particularly if it turns out that there are actually fraudulent issues that took place. so i think it could do more good than harm. >>jonathan the potential of of this call on on wednesday by the senators is actually going against the wishes of senate majority leader mitch mcconnell, what does this say about mitch mcconnell's. on his base. >>i think it says 2 things one there's an obvious split me here mitt romney also calling this active ploy and you hear some of the other republicans. somewhere season republicans also say i will you know what good can really come of this so you're saying a split down the middle of some republicans to force it suggesting that look it's not a bad idea to take another 10 days to make
9:42 am
this review and another said republicans like mitch mcconnell who's thinking about the big picture you say what is this going to do for the republican party years from now i don't think you saying it's just a ploy i think he's saying will this come all wrong to the american people particularly in an age where the media can skew and sort of manipulate story and i always say 99% of everything that happens particularly now to capitol hill when i worked there is perception or hate the american people are going to hear what comes from news media outlets and from different sources yes, social media i think mitch mcconnell is save himself, is it worth the risk even to hold elections in our processes accountable. so think mitch mcconnell is saying this is just a ploy this is wrong. i think mitch mitch mcconnell as the senate majority leaders say what's this going to do for our party long term which i think is a valid concern and it's just unfortunate you can't really just take the position to do what's right is
9:43 am
right time is always right to do what's right. i was put that back to my game and i think what's right is to make sure to the extent that you can. that you certify you verify validate any substantiate until there's no more questions about whether there's fraud or some wrongdoing here. but i think that's the remote for mitch mcconnell that's wasted at risk there. well jonathan thank you so much for your insights wednesday is going to be yet another fascinating day in washington d c. >>we appreciate your so will we

>>good morning. welcome at 9.45 and as we've been talking about all morning long low clouds and fog and the story of the day at least the morning tampa bay area starting 2021, nice and overcast a little wet, we've got some rain coming later this week dave spahr stand by with a little bit more morning guys good morning everybody and added half moon bay, we're looking at some fog us it's redeveloping a little bit there was opening up the skies, a touch as everybody should be seeing a lot and then as we go into the afternoon. >>improved sky conditions for everybody it looks like but things will change tonight to get the pitter patter of rain well before midnight, it looks like in half moon bay to get things kicked off. here's the big monster out to see though it will be a player tomorrow morning and approaching the noon hour when the front will drop through and that will drive the intensity of the winds going for with futurecast for briefly opens up the skies here comes the first patch of rain. they'll be well before midnight at

stars actually about 9 o'clock or so in parts of the bay area and then it's mostly in the north bay and then more intensity expected as we approach. daybreak. now as late as 2 o'clock in the afternoon you can see still continuing on with scattered showers the front passed by that point but still more activity upstream before we clear out going into your tuesday that will be one day break before more comes on wednesday looking at the winds little breezy late this afternoon overnight, sure 7.30 gets interesting. now this is when already have some intense rain going on in parts of the bay front drop south post at where the winds are really good kick in for a time so sarah 11:00am until 3 or so we've got some good winds going on on shore across just about the whole bay area and then they quickly dissipate so they won't be around very long, but they'll be times will be pretty intense there in the middle of the day. a look at tahoe, they're getting the snow while we get the rain storm warning winter storm warning going on tomorrow and also into wednesday looks like we have more snow. that will
9:48 am
be good there to help with the snow deficit morning, fog and clouds we've been talking about today clearing better south and east which is already happening sooner too. tomorrow predawn showers breezy then getting kind of storm is your approach around the noon hour heavy at times windy. then for this week to look out for wednesday, and you want to look out for friday, the next 2 days that we add to that let's watch this into motion. there's the hit on monday. wednesday, there's a secondary hit not as intense. we should note and as we get into friday. again maybe not as intense as what we're seeing on monday. no upstream as we get into the weekend early the following week may be some hits but not quite the same type of pattern we're looking at for this week in other words, storm track may be shifted a little bit to the north and therefore we won't get as much rain out of the success of systems, but this is before all of that and the drought monitor says up there in solano county in napa extreme and we're in severe drought everywhere else hopefully. we can chip away at that with all of this traffic for this week looking at your seven-day forecast rain monday
