9:44 am
there we haha i'm almost because i want to stir bunny thing. our favor yeah it's pretty good saturday enjoy soak it up like the plants and everything because tomorrow here come to get going to get rained on as we all will, and it looks like in next week, an unsettled weather pattern particular watching tuesday night through wednesday. good news about this is this has been very consistent all the model runs for about a week or so so we like consistency. the model seem to agree on timing and intensity is let's hope it holds up but have some flooding issues with that but we'll put that together we get closer this is a little shot that we have from mount tam there's san francisco off to the background still dealing with some of the leftover cloud cover there sfo. no delays this morning at all up to was kind of turning go mostly sunny start we world of chillier up in the north bay in the 30's recovered the 40's and we did that with cloud cover moisture on the surface so typically we don't use the fall that much less we have clear skies. the other issue is we have that colder air aloft remember that today, even though you see all that sunshine out there want to throw the jacket on a sweater
9:45 am
because it will be a little chilly outside still to come to get a little breeze going on this afternoon. now we'll have more intense winds tomorrow coupled with some of the rain since about 2 o'clock and by this point. the rain will be across midday going down to the south in its wake come some heavier when winds particularly at the coast peninsula. keep that in mind a little bit but we see it off to the east bay in the teens and even the 20's so going to be windy even in the wake of the heavier rains that we get tomorrow when it's kind of more scattered showers stuff. so let's put it all together here. here's tomorrow's event. all right. we clear out from monday and then boom that's the big hit. tuesday night through wednesday that will probably linger a little bit under wednesday unsettled for thursday maybe even friday but saturday another hit and looks like more on sunday we'll take that don't usually see this pattern has often with that by the way this also means our winter weather up in tahoe. now we do have a winter weather advisory till 4 today than they have a new one that's been issued this for 07:00pm they go through our
9:46 am
break i guess 07:00pm all the way through 04:00pm on monday that's through the batch of rain coming our way tomorrow and that's in terms of mountain snows most of the readings in the board in the 50's across the state 27. though for big bear but a little closer across the bay in our 4 zone forecast we'll scrounge up a couple 60's for you 55 san francisco, 57 for daly city 53 pacific of doing more of those mid 50's in the northern end of the peninsula down south upper 50's, a 57 mountain view palo alto 59. and the santa clara valley, most readings here mid to upper 50's. do have some more those mid 50's the southern end of the east bay shoreline 57 for tri valley 57 for walnut creek and conquered 54 for berkeley. in solano county got some 60's there though i got 56 for pittsburgh, 54 for the laiho 59 for nap and 60 for santa rosa, more upper 50's down south. so we get a break today. break on monday tuesday, the rain develops this will be the intense rain
9:47 am
into the monday more wednesday morning commute potentially instill unsettled as we finish off the week. meanwhile, our lows. 30's watch out as we get to monday in the 40's returns were unsettled, we'll keep those 40's at the coast. well you might be surprised to learn that what you eat can not only improve your health but could also take care of some conditions that are common with aging. >>now last week we found out how the foods you eat can affect hearing loss and the loss of balance. well today or health expert karen, a lot of guys here with some more healthy anti aging food fixes with foods that can help relieve joint pain. hi, karen good morning. >>hi good morning marty. >>well tell us more about some foods that can take care help relieve the pain of arthritis. >>well the number 1, 5, or 10 and that might sound surprising that they actually did a study on fiber and they found that those at age 20 grams of fiber a day reduce their risk of osteoarthritis.
9:48 am
by 30% so is really significant those that had 25 grams of fiber reduced it by 61% so you know a lot of people are suffering from wear and tear friday is all that pain and this is some way to reduce those symptoms and it's really easy to do a lot easier than people think some people think 25 grams of fiber this way but here's an example right 25 grams looks like. so a quarter cup of steel cut oats in the morning. an apple and then half a cup of beans but it's not that my notes >>your favorite the pistachio nuts you know me and then added 8 ounces one cup of raspberries and that's 25 grams right there that is completely doable. very doable yeah if you just make these
9:49 am
little swat team and maybe your white toast with wheat toast. that's going to easily boost up fiber intake for the day. >>and you're saying that this really cuts down by by 30%. lowers the risk of of arthritis in the joints. >>right this was a study done in ireland and they had 2 groups of people so yeah, very significant well that really is ok and it's pretty easy fix. thanks. a lot. karen let's go on to depression which is which what a lot of people are dealing with especially now that we're well into one year dealing with covid. >>right and you think about depression and how it affects your mood you know that what the studies now show is that it also affects physical changes. and the that is that it affects the value of brain meaning brain shrinkage so it's causing your brain to shrink and the long year that state depression, the more
9:50 am
volume is lost. so the areas of the brain the hippocampus prefrontal cortex those are the areas that they see this shrinkage in those are the areas that affect your memory. >>anxiety. seeing set your thinking processes motivation. a lot is that that is affected from depression because of that. >>and so what are some foods that might be able to help alleviate some of these problems. >>one of the problems first trying to not cause yourself to get into these mood crack is ok which you know we we tended want to go to our comfort foods it or actually the foods that cause those crashes because there usually refined carbohydrates want to try and stick with more the. >>the whole whole grain foods so where you can actually see the grain. yes, a difference and then here it's refined its ground into flour and this is
9:51 am
where it's going to. >>boost your blood sugar quickly and then cause grill mood crashes as far your energy crashes your mood but also follow well that's part of the problem that so many people have is they take you know a candy bar something like this that gives them an instant. >>hi but then the crash is also pretty severe as well. >>right in that that boost only last for about 2030 minutes. they don't have something whole that will distribute the energy over 3 to 4 hours so you have a gradual boost of energy and it's tough you're not going to get that big crash. what are some i sorry kelly, what what are some whole grains that you recommend. >>so anything that you could see like whole grain. rice keane also good good choice, but just trying to add those in and makes those in in oats also want to talk about right are all good sources of whole
9:52 am
grains anything where you could see that great and one thing to make clear here is is when you talk about rise, we're talking about brown rice aren't we. >>exactly yes week we're not talking about the white rice because that's going to cause your blood sugar exactly like okay. let's talk about vitamin d 4%. yes, so vitamin those what they did a study they found that those people that and they study people that were in the 50's 50 and over and those that were deficient in vitamin d tended to be also depressed so the idea is to make sure your vitamin d levels are. >>at the optimal level. you get it from sunshine your body can produce it when you're out in the sun but we've been all isolated inside and then also as you get older your body is not able to produce that vitamin d as efficiently as when you're younger so that's another reason tv. to be sure you get enough of the divide

monday as you get older, so to kind of wrap things up karen including last week just to bring people up to date. >>we talked different types of foods that candy that can help deal with people who are dealing with a hearing loss with balance. today we talked joint pain and depression. all that can our diet can help alleviate some of these issues. >>exactly and so when you think about it 8 when you want if you want to age well, thank you need to eat well you know and all these all these foods are more plant based. >>not high in saturated fats and not high and the refined sugars to yeah, okay. >>excellent advice, karen. these are some fantastic tips that we can all use thank you so much. >>sherry have a great >>sherry have a great breakfast yeah, >>sherry have a great breakfast yeah, have you or a loved one been wronged by pre-made breakfast? well, wendy's has your back dropping the hammer with two of these made to order breakfast sandwiches
