>>welcome back 7.37 here on this sunday morning in city sits in one of the richest counties in california, it's historically the home of the largest number of black people in marin county but despite its name or in city is not a city and many of us residents want that to change kron four's pam moore explains why the county need to take their knee off our necks. >>be able to give us what we

deserve majority of the county knows that this city has. it's all about power. it's about control. right we know right now that the county they make decisions based on power that they know we don't have any control over paul austin and damien morgan are part of an effort to make more in city a city. >>money is key they say as an example after marine county last collected all the property and sales taxes from rend city. >>the december 2020 allocation for services back to moran city was just over $46,000. arguably to most county residents more in city is just a name on a freeway sign. but there is a rich history here or in city was created by the federal government during world war 2 for shipbuilding. >>people poured in for the jobs war houses were built for them to live in and a park which is still here with a mural that now documents the past also kept alive in the
7:39 am
memories of the families that were here from the beginning founded my bad game >>lake charles louisiana, 1941. he came out and make a life i came from the south from louisiana and marin city. just reminded so much of the small town. >>and that came from we have no war has is up there. and we up their reserves have all of the hillsides rica roam around and my family, my uncle. my grandfather morrow families and our family heritage white who came to city for work moved out after world war 2 to other parts of marion county in the bay area blacks did not have that luxury because of various races, housing restrictions so they stayed and made marine city their home in fact in 1960 90% of them are in city population was black those numbers have

changed dramatically and the black community feels is making incorporation all the more important if we don't it's going be an also of mentally we all get all of it it is going to be going to take we don't get the resources and yet we we concerned about >>with the cooperation we get back. >>it all before we can do it. we feel the best argument i've always felt neglected to from the county. just sitting in meetings with always having to go to the table to axe 4. you know resources to come back. >>it is not fair in corporation would allow residents to elect their own leaders run police and fire capture property and sales taxes. the only business district is the gateway shopping center and this gallery is the only black owned business in city for generation black families are not uncommon and they don't want their black history to be last man city means everything

to me. maria city has my heart. >>not to do everything i can to make sure that the folks city have what they need. >>well as pam moore reporting number in city is a mile and a half northwest of downtown sausalito just over 3,000 people live there. it's considered the most diverse area in marin county. yeah, the exploratory committee actually says the process to incorporate will likely take up to 2 years. >>a key first step is educating the citizens about the value of living in a full fledged city. for more stories just like this one head to our special black history month section on our website kron 4 dot com day if we're looking for again more sunshine to return mode some high cloudiness want to share with this temperatures still in the mid to upper 60's and nice spring breeze coupled with that too will take a look at forecast coming up in just a bit.

7:44 am
>>good morning, welcome back we're enjoying a good looking sunday around the bay area and feels a lot like yesterday it does i know yesterday we have a little bit of wind though i definitely got some of that on my evening walk, dave, what is the one looking like we'll have a little breeze there but not as intense that we had from yesterday, it's why we have the wind advisory up in solano county yesterday live shot coming in here as you can see the east bay shoreline kind of lit up nicely blue skies coming with that. >>we will have some high cloudiness but at least those temperatures will be pushing well in the 60's again today
7:45 am
to have that 4 zone forecast coming up in just a bit sfo, looking good to know delays this morning. temperatures though put on the cool side, although we graduate up to the 40's already up in the north bay here 41 a bottle santa rosa, 43 for napa 39 chilly degrees off the concord with 54. antioch a look at those winds again a little uptick happening mostly in the east bay little pocket up here in the north bay to with the santa cruz mountains and we see tomorrow a little influx of some winds to a little bit up in the north bay nothing for advisory strength but a little breeze to throw in with that a spring breeze with the spring temperatures that we expect with that through much of the week that's ahead even with the cloud cover coming on tuesday will still manage the sun temperatures which we see the tahoe to tomorrow at 47 tuesday, a 5050 also for wednesday that's with some scattered clouds at work too. it should clear on the bay area by wednesday but then we're looking for the next we'll have to say precipitation event coming next weekend then that will be mountain snows to so let's get
7:46 am
to those longer range forecast models there's a little hit us some cloud cover on tuesday. now we get more earnest and serious for the rain it takes a while to get down here has taken the kind of the scenic route but by saturday. there's a dose of rain we're still working on exact timing with all about, but it looks like a covers a good chunk of the daylight hours at least and then a break for sunday and another dose on monday into tuesday of the following week a look at your 4 zone forecast for this sunday will come in about 63 san francisco and also matching that daly city pacific about 60 and also for half moon bay, northern end of the peninsula pushing into those mid 60's in areas, 63 burlingame for example down south again more mid to even upper 60's like san carlos at 6765 for mountain view inn 66 palo alto in the south bay 67 san jose milpitas at cupertino mid 60's line up the east bay shoreline tri valley in the mid 60's as well looks like wannacry could 66 along with concord and 67 castro valley,

battling cancer learned the trumpet for his powerful performance in ma rainey's black bottom. my vote for best performance by an actor in a drama. i know what i'm goes to chadwick for best director regina king made a powerful debut with her film one night in miami aaron sorkin captured history with the trial of the chicago 7. but chloe zahau took it to another level. traveling across the country in vans incorporating actual nomads in her scenic masterpiece nomadland. she has my vote. and finally best picture for drama promising young woman could have been the most entertaining original and my favorite film of 2020 i said what are you doing. but once again it's tough to the beautifully shot then to trade story of a woman in her 60's who loses everything in travels the world in a van. >>i'm just >>and close the house

9:45 am
plenty of sunshine to share. yeah, i've got some here to welcome this just a scattering of the atmosphere be air actually black up we didn't have an app here so you know one anyway, couple ways some high cloudiness today, but it's pretty much just like we had yesterday maybe add a couple degrees to the mix. >>but good to go and it's a good week ahaad, it's going feel like spring. it is the start of the media logical spring by the way, this week ahead starts actually on monday 59 for map at this hour. rose off to the east bay, plenty of 50's and we're just getting started mid 50's at that and 55 meanwhile for san jose checking your future cast winds going on for today. here's the breeze and i mentioned earlier not a lot of a breeze just a little bit as you'll notice up in the north and the east bay that's kind of typical over warming going on might see a little resurgence happening up in the north bay as we get into tomorrow as you can see, but on balance looking pretty good at that we'll see some scattered clouds sneaking in here on tuesday and we see the same port into wednesday it
9:46 am
lingers will clear out on wednesday. temperatures you can see very stable there upper 40's at about 50 on wednesday to check out weather pattern for the next week or so here's the scattered clouds that's on tuesday, not much happens. getting later in the week here here comes the system slamming us by the weekend saturday here we go we'll probably clear out for sunday that a new system early into the following week to watch out for might be a weather maker for us as well course it is still kind of wet season, so we need these hits. let's check out your 4 zone forecast for this sunday, 63 going on for san francisco, 63 also daly city pacific about 60 matching the upper half moon bay. on the bay side of the peninsula. we're in the mid 60's heading down south we're seeing some mid to upper 60's, san jose at 67 milpitas at 65 east bay shoreline check-in mid to upper 60's, 65 for pleasanton and livermore 66 for walnut creek and 66 for concord up in solano county. the cool spot 61 vallejo meanwhile, 68 for fairfield
9:47 am
these areas will probably pop and 70 as we get later in the week 69 for santa rosa speaking of which in that seven-day forecast 30 out monday, scattered clouds doesn't affect the temperatures though still pretty lofty and stays that way for the remainder of the week saturday, some rain tries to sneak in here watch out some of those lows in the 30's 40's up the coast. for your health blood clots effect close to 1 million americans every year and they can be deadly blood clots are considered one of the biggest health problems that we don't know a thing about. >>and many times we ignore the warning signs. our health expert okwu has more on this life threatening but preventable condition karen good morning. we'll start by talking about dvt ease. >>right deep vein of from those these are lots that occur in the deep veins they're they're large and they're deeper underneath the skin and closer to the bone. these are not the the ones that where you get varicose
9:48 am
veins. those are the superficial ones that you could see and just right under your skin ok is they are large and so a lot of blood goes through these veins circulates to very spar guns. that's where the problem is. >>this is a real basic question, but we start by just defining what a blood clot is and how they're formed. >>so a blood clot and we we kind of talked about it to let little last week where the where there's an injury to artery or your vessel platelets will rest to that area to try and heal so in those platelets grow and grow and grow and grow and those well either block the flow of of bled to wherever it's going back to the heart. our it can break off and that's where these deep vein thrombosis dvt he's are really dangerous because they can break off and go that little part that breaks off travels and it can
9:49 am
lodge into your lungs and cause a pulmonary embolism and that definitely is life threatening. >>there are a lot of risk factors when dealing with a blood clot one of them oddly enough when you're hospitalized. >>right especially when you're hospitalized for a major trauma or you're there for surgery. or you've been in the hospital for in it and immobile for a long period time so that is definitely a risk factor. >>also on our screen on our screen or others risk factors as maybe we can touch on those being overweight. >>right so that when you're overweight there a lot of libyans are facts that are in your blood and that could slow blood flow to time blood flow slows down it kind of gets lucky and then it just can settle in when it's not flowing that's when the blood clots can form michigan think i guess you can think of it as
9:50 am
sludge moving through your pipes eventually it will clog. >>and that causes the caught so to speak. >>write it in and just like heart failure when that the lead to settles and doesn't move. it can be prone to clotting. >>some of the other risk factors both smoking and drinking right care. >>right smoking nicotine that constricts blood vessels again it's going to affect the blood drinking they founded just 3 ounces of our hard we can increase your risk for dvt is by 5% because what alcohol does it it activates to so definitely that's not what you want to do. >>and what impact does dehydration have on causing a blood clot. >>well your blood mostly water. so when need to hydrate your blood becomes very thick very this kid is so it's not
9:51 am
going to flow very well again you're going to get to the polling in up pull it pulls a blood down in their lower extremities has a hard time going flowing upstream when it's very thick like that right. >>dehydrate make sure rehydrate. >>constantly especially during before during and after exercise. >>speaking of exercise during the pandemic a lot of people have fed complained about being couch potatoes, sitting at home more often than than they normally would that is an issue that would affect a blood clot as well wouldn't. >>definitely a sow's sitting for long periods of time whether it's on your couch or whether it's in the car your desk. that is a risk factor. so whenever you're even sitting at your desk really important to move your feet you know stand up move around. just to get that blood flowing. >>same thing when you're making a long drive you're saying every couple of hours you want to get out stop walk
9:52 am
around a little drink some water while you're at it >>yes, right if you have a heart condition or are disease you might have to even stop even more frequently to get the blood flowing. >>what are some of the symptoms of a blood clot care. >>so it's could be swelling in the area. some redness in the area. >>well in that one of the the keys things to remember is that you may not have symptoms the dvt and still you have to really manage your risk factors. >>and also sometimes you don't see those symptoms until you get to the pulmonary so you can it could be silent. but if it is a parent you really need to act if it's painful it's you have that swelling, you
9:53 am
need to see a physician you should go to the e r right away don't downplay this and i understand that next week we're going to continue or talk about this and some foods that might help prevent blood clots up. >>great to see eye to it when t to help prevent in reduce your risk of these all right sounds great karen. thank you
