opportunities to make sure that we're making it easy for people to do what is healthy for themselves and their families. >>well those shots were given on a first come first serve bases to those who are 65 or older or a teacher or agricultural worker next week the site will be providing up to 2000 doses a day with a mix of appointments and drop ins. the county's hoping to give up to 12,000 shots a day. >>after 10's of thousands of second shows covid-19 vaccine appointments had to be canceled earlier this week we are getting some good news from sutter health this morning kron four's dan kerman has more on the issue and when those folks who are waiting for their second dose might be able to get them. >>it was tuesday when sutter health said due to a lack of supply they would be canceling up to 40,002nd dose covid-19 appointments this week possibly up to 50,000 more second dose appointments in the weeks ahead. now some slightly better news center says the state has committed to giving them 60,000 doses over the next 2 weeks that
9:34 am
would still leave them 30,000 doses short. but now sutter health is saying many county and local health partners have given center vaccine in recent days. this additional and unexpected supply along with the state's commitment allows us to reschedule those impacted patients starting as early as this weekend. sutter says as long as they continue to receive sufficient supply. we anticipate being able to complete all second dose vaccinations well within the cdc's recommended time frame. that time frame is up to 6 weeks in between doses. sutter health is now in the process of rescheduling a total of 21,002nd dose appointments, but again they think that can happen within that cdc recommended timeframe of 6 weeks. >>the only downside to all of this. sutter health is putting first dose appointments on hold until they get more supply. in san francisco. dan kerman kron 4 news.
9:35 am
>>and this news just in from washington dc the senate has passed president joe biden's 1.9 trillion dollar covid relief plan. the vote was 58 to 49 legislation now expected to go back to the house for a final vote for biden signs it into law so some good news this morning things are moving along. when it comes to that relief package. more developing news this morning, san francisco unified says it is on track to offer in person learning at some schools by april 12th. the first students returning to campus would be those in phase 2 a which is pre kindergarten through 5th grade. >>other students will be offered in person options by the end of april the district will provide more details on monday. >>well this news comes as governor newsom signed a law aimed at returning public school students to their classrooms. kron four's ella sogomonian explains how billions of dollars in new fate funding could help reach that goal. >>the governor put ink to
9:36 am
paper signing the law this afternoon one day after it passed the state legislature by a wide margin. this now offers 2 billion dollars to school districts to provide in person instruction by the end of march. but it also offers another 4.6 billion dollars regardless of reopening status for all schools across more than 1000 districts to help students catch up on what they may have missed during the pandemic at least 85% of that money must be spent on in person learning. >>this is a big day for working women. this is a big day for women. you know disproportionately and i say that my full of my own mother who was raising 2 kids our 2122 years you know i think about her i think all of the working moms out there that that ultimately. have a disproportionate responsibility, not right. we try to fix that. >>critics say the bill does not go far enough to
9:37 am
incentivize reopening while some teachers are still resisting returning to the classroom in the newsroom. ella sogomonian kron 4 news. >>and for the first time in months movie theaters and museums are reopening this weekend in santa clara county now this comes as the county moved into the state's red tier of reopening earlier this week that's great news of course for bay area families the reopenings include the children's discovery museum of san jose but keep in mind the indoor sections will remain closed. but the outdoor play areas open parents must make reservations before they pay a visit. >>a very welcome sight along the peninsula, the loosening restrictions had downtown palo alto buzzing with people friday night and crowds are expected to continue through the weekend, although indoor dining is allowed now some people told us they still want to play it safe. >>for the most part. >>until there's really a vaccine like i can get back sade in a lot more people come back back soon. i don't really care it's i don't think it's
9:38 am
going make too much of a difference. >>palo alto is currently in the red tier which does allow indoor dining at 25% capacity. >>well less than a month stadiums and theme parks across california will begin to welcome back fans and customers but it won't be business as usual right off the bat as they will still have to abide by many added safety measures so we're going to head down to southern california to the happiest place on earth which is gearing up for its reopening. reporter jennifer mcgraw has more on the huge development from disneyland. >>hold on to your hats as the parks across southern california are reopening april first welcoming news for disney land that's missed out on billions and for the city of anaheim to begin. >>to recover we are a 9% unemployment that's a level that we last saw during the great recession. that's 15,000 people out of shutdown largely impacting surrounding
9:39 am
businesses these past 12 months i've been you know an open close open close, it's been very difficult for us to. >>be able to move forwards visitor foot traffic may be slow at first the blueprints to reopening our strict 4 counties moving into the red tier theme parks and outdoor stadiums can reopen with 15% capacity work side to get back to to business as the county's move into the orange and then yellow tears, the park's kids significantly then reopen and even if orange county are still in the purple tier 100 lucky fans will still get to attend opening day. >>the state health department says because of lower case rates and hospitalizations along with a new plan to distribute vaccines into vulnerable communities has made it possible. however, there is a catch for those hoping to visit the happiest place on earth you must live in california officials say at a state guests will not be welcome. but at this point nearby disney businesses say
9:40 am
any business is better than none the resort and the convention center are are very much a large part of the economic engine. so. >>knowing that part of our engine or economic engine is turning back on is super important for anaheim's recovery. jennifer mcgraw. although at a glance it may seem like reopenings might be happening a little too fast many of the bay area's leading health experts are applauding this latest decision they're telling us that while reopening theme parks and stadiums would have been unthinkable several months ago. >>the state's improving vaccine distribution is making a big difference. >>right now given the declining cases in the face of vaccinations and in the case of vaccinations and prioritize to my rule communities i think it is ok to proceed or the spied this is what vaccinations and immunity does presage guest of the pandemic and providing people with
9:41 am
benchmarks of more and more they can do will encourage the population to feel real i hate that is coming to us. >>california hit a major milestone friday with its vaccine distribution as the state administered more than 10 million doses. it comes less than 3 months after the first recorded vaccination all told more than 13 million doses have been delivered in california. san francisco police are searching for a driver involved in a deadly hit and run crash that killed a 79 year-old woman. it happened tuesday afternoon at the corner of mission street in geneva avenue, one car involved in the crash remained at the scene the driver is cooperating with the investigation. but the other driver took off and police are asking for help in locating this truck. it's a black ford four-door raptor pickup with tinted windows dave. >>all right, we're looking nice sunshine going on today and tomorrow but only pushing those highs into the lower 60's plus watch up to the

9:45 am
we do want to give you a check of your forecast with dave spahr had a good morning guys, good morning, everybody we're looking at to some scattered clouds kind of left over it's a puppy cumulus a little bit just created by the evaporation of some of that surface moisture. we've got some overnight sure in some winds. now we're left over with cool breezes and lots of sunshine going on for this afternoon, it looks like for tomorrow to be any interruption of a few scattered clouds thrown in there just for good measure early next week looks like some more unsettled weather coming our way here so plan accordingly for that but here's some of those scattered clouds off to the distance sfo. no delays this morning. >>here's how the temperatures look like now a bit of an improvement. 53 for oakland 54 concord 54 for antioch with 40's up to the north bay here the bottle at 50 to 50 going on for san jose. quick check of those winds a little bit of an up tick happens this afternoon looks like into the evening hours repeat tomorrow, probably a little longer little bit slightly more intense, but it will feel chilly when you consider the fact that the air itself is a bit on the cool side, even
9:46 am
though the sun may be somewhat inviting. now longer range forecast models tell maybe some scattered clouds tomorrow, but the real action getting in here monday and more importantly tuesday this also come with some colder air aloft and that is the kind of excite up the atmosphere you but vertical motion with all of that that's one thing sometimes spring alive might have a couple claps of thunder thrown in there little bit lower on the snow levels will do a little bit more on wednesday, but then the latter portion of the week it opens up nicely and for next weekend. and the following week looks like more action happening. so we're timing it out these 4 weekends looking okay in your 4 zone forecast for the saturday 58 going on for san francisco, 54 pacifica and half moon base a little chilly at the coast coupled with some of those winds upper 50's going on in the northern end of the peninsula down south redwood city 61 mountain view coming in at about 60. santa of san jose at 62 was sent a clear also matching that cupertino at 61 east bay shoreline to the south about 60 tri valley lower 60's 62
9:47 am
for walnut creek 61 for concord 59 for berkeley, chilly 56 filet o 64 meanwhile for fairfield and vacaville 62 was sonoma. santa rosa at 62 with lower 60's heading down south. so the weekend looks great. but early into next week will cohen settled it is showers and perhaps some thunder showers thrown in there. our lows we're going venture into some 30 still going on this weekend but 40's into next week. some 30's do return to as well as 40's coached marty. >>all right dave thanks a lot. while many entertainment venues are gearing up to reopen, there's one popular san francisco drag club that's on the brink of closure that's right. but the oasis will not go down without a fight later today, the club is putting on a live telethon to save the venue we've got. >>owner darcy draw, linger and snacks joining us live now to talk about this telethon. thank you ladies for joining us. you guys remained pretty optimistic during the pandemic which of course is not easy for anyone that how are you
9:48 am
feeling going into today's telethon. >>really really excited. you know 3 weeks ago it felt a little hopeless and the community has really rallied in so many people showed an amazing support advanced doing testimonials and in talking about what the club means to them. >>it's it's been really rewarding them are excited to do this even though the 12 hour show is a on for sure. >>you know where you are she had her first copies we ordered a second round of copies as we 12:00pm to 12:00am. >>yeah, i think coffee and red bull are going to be the order of the day let's talk a little bit about about the club itself. it's really iconic in and it's and for a lot of folks this was the place to be. >>you know, it's been a real clubhouse for performers and audiences alike can real cross
9:49 am
section of people. so you know people have sending end testimonials and posting about it all around the country and the world really so it does make feel like we're doing the right thing with program it's been amazing to see how much of the community has rallied around us, but also other performers, you know we we place for performers to create art on the stage all these years to have so many people just. >>open their hearts to us and open their wallets chances been really awesome. it's been proves that you know we've been for a hybrid space frame or a theater where a cabaret and a nightclub in a community space and so we've got people from all of those different worlds really rooting for us. >>can you talk to us in just a little bit about how the oasis started. >>well you know it was a ways is a long time so in the 80's and we brought the name back i open this had very famous drive performer and 2 other business partners about 6
9:50 am
years ago. they've all moved on and i've taken the of the of the but it started really performers wanting the space. realizing that san francisco didn't have a midsize cabaret like this a cabaret for kind of the downtown folks the performers want to cut their teeth so opened it singer's crossed an unreleased what was amazing opened in 2014. it's a fantastic journey so far and so we really really feel like it's important to keep it a lives. i'm part of where we're part of the ivy the independent venue alliance. there's so many struggling venues out there right now and if people really if they want san francisco to be one san francisco was. we need to pay attention to not losing our independent venues. k excellent 0.1 1 thing i want to point out here as well. >>is aside from being a venue for san francisco, you also reached out in the past year
9:51 am
the community to help out. tell us a little bit about meals on heels. >>the crazy idea darcy had where we couldn't operate in person indoors. obviously so we have this idea doing kind of drag delivery service when could deliver the a drag and it's got things are going to be at your house they will never love but also i mean we got a little bit of local media coverage and then it just blew up we're in the new york all over the place and it was really the right time because i think everyone was really depressed it was during his first shelter in place and we really thought about what is our place in our community was our place in san francisco, entertainers and felt like a show like the most important thing is. >>is to entertain people when they're down and that's what we did and it really paid off and we were able to employ some performers that we had
9:52 am
been out of work for months, so it felt really on all fronts and it was awesome to just have another thing that was so uniquely san francisco, nice only having francis county then we did we started working on our streaming platform because they thought well that's that's friend of the spread a lot of even wider some people out of the state none of the country could watch what we're doing here. and so that that's been because take that off 2 months ago, and it's going really well as well, and i think obviously your guys energy just kind of jumping off the screen. i can't imagine what it's like to actually be. >>an audience member and which is why it's so important alert people about this telethon. let us know a little bit more information about where people can find it and what you guys what your goal is. >>well our original goal was a which was in debt. we're in and we actually broke that goal last night are we even started thank you and so now what we're doing today is
9:53 am
raising money so we can get through we don't know how long how many months we're still going to be forced to be closed before we can really reopen so since his own everyone was amazing in got has got done with our past and now we're working on our future they can watch it on watch dot sfo aces dot com which is a streaming platform. or the donation platform is and give butter dot com forward slash stable way says it will be streaming live on that as well. but the real heart is. >>that well is that the recall like the old days in the town familiar you can and talk to a real live drag performer in the and give your donation that way. >>we've got people all day on the phones and we even have
