through. as you see the east bay shoreline that up pretty nicely. there. there's the golden gate. not much of a breeze yet, but that will build a little bit later on here during the day kind of the different spots to of the bay area. kind of some leftover showers appear like they're popping up here a little bit now. that's possible later on with some daytime heating. the santa cruz mountains as a little side bat here. you might be a little isolated showers, a possibility there. most readings are in the 30's up in the north bay. the east bay shoreline into the 40's. however, much colder this more than we saw from yesterday by more than a dozen degrees up north. you live notice there. half a dozen across most of the breath of the bay 52 by 11 o'clock by 2. let's do a little scattered cloud and they're so at 57 modest highs today, tomorrow. but a real warm up in for you next week. we'll have more details in just a bit. >> our silence is complicity. we cannot be complacent. we have to speak out. we have to act harm. >> against any one of us. is a harm against all of us.

>> our top story this morning, the president and vice president speaking out about the nationwide increase in anti-asian violence offering comfort, asian americans and a country still reeling from this week's mass shooting. >> here in the bay area. unfortunately, the violence has not stopped this morning. an asian man who was badly beaten on san francisco's market street is sharing his story. this is just one of several attacks on asian americans recently. and we want to warn you, his injuries are graphic. >> kron four's. maureen kelly has his story. >> he did. he saw on the other for second first. and second day, i cannot see anything. >> the 59 year-old boy. a man's injuries are starting to improve for days after the assault. here's how he looks soon after the vicious beating his eyes blackened and swollen shut after what san francisco police are calling an unprovoked attack at 02:00pm monday the travel agent was walking on market street at

all people. they have so few. if you want us to leave, let them leave peacefully. they did. they'd done both me. any harm to you. love them. you that you expect the suspect in this case remains in custody. >> he set to be arraigned on monday. maureen kelly kron 4 news. >> on the peninsula. police say a 69 year-old asian woman was attacked and robbed thursday afternoon in daly city. this happened in a residential neighborhood just off of 2.80. daly city police say it was a strong arm robbery and no weapon was used. the victim was injured but not taken to the hospital. police are still looking for the suspect. they say there have been similar attacks in daly city recently. some of the other victims were also asian. >> well, governor newsome met with asian american leaders in san francisco friday and they talked about how to fight the recent surge in attacks against their community. they told the governor that violence against them has been happening for decades but

advocates say that over the past year they've been close to 1700 verbal and physical attacks in california. the governor pledged that the state will take an active role in preventing more violence. we just have to do more. >> and we have to demand better each and every one of us. this is not just about the asian community is about who we are and what we represent. how do we ensure real investigations and accountability of these incidents and these crimes as a her. how do we ensure that we're putting victims and survivors first. >> community members say about 90% of the attacks don't fit the legal definition of a hate crime. so they plan to ask the department of justice to begin tracking hate attacks as well as hate crimes. >> growing calls for the san francisco school board. vice president to resign. this after someone on earth. tweets that appear to be biased against asians in 2016. allison collins made several tweets accusing asian americans of using white

supremacy to get ahead of their black colleagues. she also used a racial slur in these tweets. in a statement fellow school board member jenny lam, who is the only chinese american member of the board asked collins to step down, saying, quote, among our students, 40% are asian american and pacific islander collins must address her racist comments instead, her refusal to apologize takes time and energy away from our work at the district. she continued to say i'm asking commissioner collins to provide a public apology at our next board meeting calling for her resignation from the san francisco board of education and quote, several san francisco supervisors are also saying collins should step down. >> and coming up on the kron 00:00am morning news thousands of people in santa clara county scrambling to get their second vaccine after the county said it ran out. we're going to find out how kaiser's trying to help. >> anna wiernicki in washington. 2 immigration bills passed the house this

we're back to the big story we're following this %orning updated cdc guidelines could allow more children in the classroom now rather than 6 feet of separation. >> the new recommendations say students can safely sit 3 feet apart. also, it removes the call for plastic partitions between their desks. but the cdc says that this can only happen if there's 100% masking inside the classroom. the cdc says 6 feet distance should be maintained in common areas like school lobbies. also in mask can be worn. well, such as the cafeteria as the students are eating. >> in the east bay, members of the family and are unified school district and the teachers association announced they've reached a tentative agreement allowing for hybrid instruction. now, if the teachers approve that tentative deal. students of all grade levels in the district will be able to attend classes in person for part of the school day beginning april 12th families will also have the option to continue distance learning.

of spring here in this new year. we're feeling to check dave star has got a little bit more detail just how warm it might get today. days. okay. good morning, noel and marty. good morning, everybody. we've got mostly sunny skies going on there. but there are some scattered clouds to make note of. this is half moon bay. they're now down the peninsula tuck in the santa cruz mountains got a mention that there's a chance of an isolated shower kind of throw in the cards for good measure. but basically we're talking mostly sunny for most of the bay temperatures. pretty uniform. those you'll be seeing in the 4 zone forecast later again. nice wide shot of we're talking about here. half moon bay will take care of some of these clouds. >> as the day wears on sfo. good news there. no delays happening now. what we do have interesting enough. it's not on the shot that far off, aaron, what's left over or maybe some ice let its of scattered about thunder showers are possible out there as well. what's left over from this whole system for us, though. clearing out and looks good as we get into next week. a little bit of a warming phase yet. we'll see some middle 70's by wednesday or so

30's up to the north bay. they're very chilly. almost freezing 35 going on for napa. 41. meanwhile, for conquered. we have some 40's lighting up the east bay shoreline a suspect that's bad data there. 45 going on for a 43 rather for san jose doing it for future cast for again noting the possibility of maybe a couple little stray showers going on in the higher elevations again, isolated. probably not even scattered but isolated. but most of us will see mostly sunny skies going on today. we'll be in a single wind pattern will show you just a bit. looks good as we head on into sunday. however, monday looks like someone's clouds starting to drop south forced suny at issue initiation of the next system that looks like that may hold dry for us, though. now look at futurecast winds will get the typical uptick with winds. we get the daytime heating. then interesting parents, little county looks like a little moment of opportunity here for some offshore winds going on very early on sunday. we've already had rain. so that's going to pose much of a problem there and then we're back to on shore program yet again and you'll notice that the coast, both former in and out of the

peninsula coast as those winds kick up a little bit into the overnight hours to monday. so basically today an isolated shower in the peninsula basically mild evening breeze check-in to 60 ish for those inland valleys tomorrow, mostly sunny, nice up and up a little bit here. upper 60's going on in london. we're still building on that next week. mostly sunny warming by midweek as we top off in the middle 70's. it looks like inland, maybe a little better than that. it will kind of shave it off as we finish off the weekend looking for maybe some showers there. 58 san francisco oakland checks in at 60 61. meanwhile for san jose across the wider geography. not a lot of movement with temperatures are still hanging in the lower 60's. give it some time, though it will climb. of course, we'll have that extension for you and a check of the 4 zone forecast a bit. noel. >> all right. thanks, dave. developing news this morning. the california secretary of state's office says it is now validated more than one point 1 million signatures in the effort to recall governor gavin newsome. now the office has received nearly 2 million

signatures. but they've not all been reviewed. the office has until april 29th to verify all of those signatures. the effort needs a little more than one 0.4 million verified signatures to trigger that special election. to a national news now where the house passed 2 immigration bills on thursday that would provide a pathway to citizenship for millions of immigrants living in the u.s. those bills passed with overwhelming support but face an uncertain future as they head to the senate. anna wiernicki is in washington with more. >> 2 immigration bills cleared the house on thursday and now are heading to the so excited about the dream dreamers act. democrats applauded the bills which would open a gateway to citizenship for over 3 million undocumented immigrants, including dreamers and farm workers. this is their they have gone to schools. they are participating. >> in the united states military and the fact that

they the face fear every day of being deported. is just not the right thing to do. >> but house minority leader kevin mccarthy criticized the bills for not doing enough to do nothing to address the problem. it ignores the problem. but will actually worsen the situation. >> mccarthy says the biden administration should focus on securing the border rather than providing amnesty to undocumented immigrants. texas democratic congresswoman veronica escobar says any immigration policy needs to address both it is an easy excuse to basically ignore the root cause. but as the 2 bills head to the senate. their feet is uncertain. house democrats are backing policies that would only exacerbate it. the wrong incentive under current rules. both bills would need 60 votes to pass the upper chamber, which means democrats need to get republicans on board. we will have an opportunity to see if 10 republican senators.

>> can join us in an effort to finally pass and i hope more in washington, i'm anna wiernicki. >> well, the trial of derek chauvin will remain in minneapolis despite his lawyers attempts to have it moved. they argue that chauvin who is the man charged with killing george floyd could not get a fair trial. in minneapolis because of intense media coverage, including the recent announcement of a huge settlement awarded to this. but the city to floyd's family, the judge read not denied that request he also limited the amount of evidence that can be presented about floyd's 2019 arrest opening skit statement scheduled to be begin on march 29th. another woman is accusing new york governor andrew cuomo inappropriate behavior. melissa mcgrath worked in his office and says the governor remarked on her looks and also made suggestive comments to her and another executive aide. the governor denies all these accusations ano has refused to step down despite increasing calls from top democrats. noel.

>> for your money this morning. the internal revenue service has already issued more than 42 and a half million tax refunds. the average refund just amount has been just under $3,000 about the same as a year ago. now refunds can take up to 21 days after you eat file. but the irs wants it warns that it could be longer if you mailed in your taxes, the irs delayed the filing deadline by a month now. taxes are now do may 17th instead of april 15th that needed that well, the nc double a is playing defense this morning after a woman's basketball player calls out the organization for giving men better training facilities compared to women. >> there's a lot more to that. that's right. oregon ducks basketball player sedona prince posted this video comparing the weight training amenities for men. >> to what the nc double a gave to the women. just a rack of dumbbells and a stack of yoga mats. take a listen. >> so for the nc double a

morning. well, mardy, good morning, we're starting things off on a sunny. no short might see some scattered clouds up there in the santa cruz mountains followed by little isolated shower. temperatures are a bit chilly. picking up north. yeah, we're looking at some 30's going on up there. do want to note on storm tracker here. we have some leftover snow showers up in the sierra that will dissipate later today. however, they will fire back up again in the mountains of nevada in terms of actually seeing some thunder showers perhaps today, ok, here's the golden gate bridge. beautiful sunshine there. not much of winds yet. but later on today we'll see some as we get some warming 40's line up the east bay shoreline for now, inland as well. 30's up to the north bay. meanwhile, 43 for san jose contrast sake. we are cold. look at that. more than a dozen degrees behind up there in the north bay. so 52 by 11 o'clock at 2. we're talking 57 a little in the way some scattered clouds trying to build. we're looking for some earnest warming, though, into next week. a little flavor spring for you. yeah, we'll get some temperatures into the middle 70's checking that out and also your 4 zone forecast in a bit. no.

>> well, the u.s. has hit a major milestone in the race to vaccinate americans against the coronavirus. 100 million doses have been given to americans 42 days ahead of schedule. president biden had set a goal to hit this mark in his first 100 days in office and now he's setting his sights even higher. the u.s. is vaccinating about 2.5 million people per day biden may set a 200 million doses goal by his one 100th day in office. now the u.s. is on pace to have enough of the 3 authorized vaccines to cover the entire adult population. just 10 weeks from now. hard to believe it really is. it's happened so quickly. >> so more and more people are getting vaccinated. but the bay area continues to suffer from vaccine shortages this week. thousands of second dose appointments at kaiser permanente were canceled simply because a lack of supply as kron four's michelle kingston reports, those patients. >> are actually having a hard time finding an open appointment elsewhere. i spoke to one teacher who got her

first shot earlier this month that levi stadium is set to get her second and final shot on tuesday. >> and was crushed when she received this notice i cried out of frustration. >> i have no, please, please don't do this to us. >> tara hunt is one of 8700 kaiser permanente members scheduled for covid vaccine shot at the santa clara county vaccination site who received this email from the county's health system on thursday canceling the second shot the santa clara county health system said they are not receiving enough. that scenes from the state and because of this they're transferring kaiser patients appointments with the county to kaiser because the state to the county that kaiser will have enough vaccines for its members at their vaccination sites. but when tara hunt called kaiser reschedule her second dose. she was told there were none available within her window at any santa clara county kaiser location. >> yeah. he's checked every where santa is a mosque at us sunnyvale. so he says santa clara county does not have any second round back scenes and

tell late april april 25th. i'm a simple that sounds and i went out meals. well, let's look at another county. what kind check santa nothing check. sacramento. nothing. check. no pitas, nothing. >> santa clara county health officials say they communicated with kaiser before notifying the affected patients and that kaiser members who received this notice should expect to hear from kaiser within the next few days. on how to reschedule tara hunt, however, wasn't going to wait after close to 2 hours on the phone. she was able to schedule her second dose but not within the county. she has to drive an hour away to get her second shot within the six-week window of her first shot. i got lucky. >> right. but look how many other people are going to miss that window. the second round back seen because of poor planning kaiser permanente released a statement that said in part that they're setting up a special schedule of appointment locally to vaccinate in a timely manner. those members whose appointments were canceled by santa clara county reaching

out starting today. these members to confirm they will have convenient access to the vaccinations they expected. >> in santa clara county, michelle kingston kron 4 news. >> well, health experts say there have been some stumbles when it comes to getting people vaccinated. right now the state is ranking near the bottom when it comes to vaccine equity. that's according to the cdc. but even though california might seem like it's falling behind other states when it comes to distribution, health. experts say our size and population makes us unique. >> of course, when you look at us compared to north dakota or new mexico or alaska we're going to look really bad in the because of the heroes. we had to overcome in the beginning when it was really rocky and where the expectations set by many of the leaders were not the reality on the ground. i think right now they are. >> doctor chin-hong says a vaccination program of this scale has never been done before. and the biggest problem is supply not strategy. doctor chin-hong added he's proud with how the

state is at least looking at equity and focusing on getting the vulnerable population vaccinated. >> governor newsome talked about president biden's challenge to make vaccines available to all adults who want by may. 1st the governor expects the vaccine tier system in the state to be dropped in about 5 weeks and that would make all californians eligible. but we're in a scarcity frame. and next week we should get 1.8 million and we're anticipating within 5 and a half weeks where we can eliminate all of that hearing, so to speak. and make available vaccines to everybody across the spectrum because supply will exponentially increase. well, the governor said the state is currently distributing more than 1 million doses. every 3 days. and coming up on the kron 4 morning news march madness is hitting las vegas.

and when i wake up, i'm all bloodied up. when i see the there's a lot of blood he did. he saw on the other for second first and cannot see anything. >> well, police say that the alleged tat attacker had just slashed the face of a 64 year-old white man at the 16th street bart station just a half hour before attacking danny, you chang police arrested 32 year-old jorge devis-milton. the next day. he's also been charged with 6 felonies, including aggravated aggravated mayhem. was set to be arraigned in court on monday morning. >> on the peninsula. police say a 69 year-old asian woman was attacked and robbed thursday afternoon in daly city. it happened in a residential neighborhood just off of to 80 daly city. police say it was a strong armed robbery and no weapon was used. the victim was injured but not taken to the hospital. police are still looking for the suspect. they say there have been similar attacks in daly city recently. some of the other victims were also asian.

for san jose noting those winds, by the way, the typical onshore will start to happen later today even as late as about 8 or so. you know, the typical warming we see inland even though we don't have a whole lot of warming going on that's going to be very distinct inland contrasted with, say the bayside and the coast to coast just a little chilly today. you'll see more of that tomorrow, though, however, tomorrow morning. interesting little offshore wind event starts to happen around solano county. it's brief, though, and we already have a lot of moisture to service. that's going to be a threat. then here comes the onshore wind. that's most noticeable in the peninsula coast and along the north bay. this is very early on monday morning by the way, noting tahoe af we take care of the last minute bit of snow tomorrow looks to be sunny temperatures in the 40's, not too bad monday and tuesday. there is a weak system that's breezes on by by tuesday might bring a couple little snow showers out that way. so the longer range forecast models. go like this. we stay sunny for the weekend. then early next week. there's that intruder, then we've pretty quiet until thursday. this hold with that a little

>> meanwhile, on the peninsula, police say a 69 year-old asian woman was attacked and robbed thursday afternoon in daly city. it happened in a residential neighborhood just off of 2.80. daly city police say it was a strong armed robbery and no weapon was used. the victim was injured but not taken to the hospital. police are still looking for the suspect. they say there have been similar attacks in daly city recently. some of the other victims were also asian. marty. >> well, governor newsome met with asian american leaders in san francisco on friday and they were talking about how to fight the recent surge in attacks against their community. they told the governor that violence against them has been happening for decades. but advocates say that over the past year they've been close to 1700 verbal and physical attacks in california. the governor then pledge that the state will be taking a more active war role in preventing more violence. >> we just have to do more and we have to demand better each and every one of us. this is not just about the asian

trend. we expect into next week morning. well, ok, jay, thanks, lynn. let's get to our top story this half hour. the bay area continues to suffer from vaccine shortages. >> this week. for instance, thousands of second dose appointments at kaiser permanente were canceled because of a lack of supply. it's not something you want to hear. that's for sure. as kron four's. michelle kingston reports, though, those patients. >> are having a hard time finding an appointment elsewhere. i spoke to one teacher who got her first shot earlier this month that levi stadium is set to get her second and final shot on tuesday. >> and was crushed when she received this notice. i cried out of frustration. >> i have no, please, please don't do this to us. >> tara hunt is one of 8700 kaiser permanente members scheduled for covid vaccine shot at the santa clara county vaccination site who received this email from the county's health system on thursday canceling the second shot the santa clara county health system said they are not receiving enough. that scenes from the state and because of this they're transferring kaiser patients appointments
