those temperatures cruising along pretty nicely as well. and we do have little fog going on this morning in some little selective areas mostly in the east bay in the south bay. but that's mixing up pretty quickly. this is a shot coming in from tipper on. you can see just a little as we have here. golden gate bridge looking pretty good at that. not a whole lot in the way of a breeze of the fog that i mentioned earlier. yeah. give it a couple of hours kind of mix out with all of this and we'll be in a mostly sunny mode for the day ahead, though, with a clear skies overnight. temperatures are really plummet into the 30's again up in the north bay there. some 40's across the east bay and that is cooler than it was this time from yesterday by a few degrees. now. we do have some high cloudiness today that may linger a touch a bit. okay. but on balance we'll call kind of mostly sunny. here's how it scores 58 by 11, by 2 o'clock. we're talking 72 coming up in a bit. we'll take a closer inspection of your forecast for this weekend and beyond that to you. sounds thanks. let's get right to our top story this saturday morning. >> more people in california now eligible to receive the

covid-19 vaccine as several counties, including right here in san francisco have decided to open things up to more residents. that's right. everyone 16 and older can now sign up for an appointment. >> but here in san francisco, it's only if you live in certain zip codes. our kron four's camila barco is joining us now from san francisco with the very latest details coming up. >> good morning all. and that's right. san francisco is now allowing people 16 and older to get a covid vaccine before this. it was only for people who are 1550 and older or those who had health problems. i'm currently at san francisco. general, one of the locations offering the covid vaccine to people who are 16 and older. and if you look behind me, the tents have been set up there are signs letting people know that there are covid vaccines and have already seeing some people line up to get the covid vaccine. however, the city is expanding its eligibility to people who live in certain zip codes. now, if you look at your screen, you'll see some of those locations. the drop

in covid vaccines are for people in areas like the bayview mission tenderloin por trail hill and portola. so if you live in one of the zip codes you are eligible to get a covid vaccine. if you are 16 and older. now, if you if you look at your screen again, you can also see where these locations or you can head to southeast health center or here at s general, no appointment is needed and the site will be open daily from 09:00am to 03:00pm. so again, these 2 locations or southeast health center or here at s f general and people can drop and no appointment is needed. but if you do want to schedule an appointment. you can call 6, 2, 8, 6, 5, 2, 2, 7, 0, 0, and as i said earlier, right now, i've seen some people get in mind and like we citywide, these covid vaccines just run out super quickly. so if you are looking to get a covid shots. you do have time. this site opens up at 09:00am and

right now there are some people like, but you do have time to get a covid shot today. marty ball, back to you. camila. thank you so much. hopefully we can hear from some of those folks are lining up today. >> a little bit later on. thanks for that report. >> well, in the south bay, santa clara county has also joined other california counties and expanding vaccine eligibility to younger adults. again, this is all days ahead of the state's schedule. anyone 16 and older can now sign up for an appointment at last check. more than 1 million vaccines have been administered in santa clara county, which is actually the most in the bay area. but keep in mind as eligibility does expand, it might be harder to come across those available appointments. >> well, health departments in california are being warned. they should expect fewer doses of covid-19, vaccine in the coming weeks. yeah. this is largely because of a mix-up at a johnson and johnson factory that destroyed 15 million doses. kron four's amanda hari talked with the health

department about how this might impact their vaccinations. >> april 15th all adults in california will be able to log on to my turn dot ca dot gov and see they're eligible for the covid-19 vaccine. but that doesn't mean they'll be able to find an appointment well, we've actually been told by the state to expect one 3rd less vaccine over the next 2 to 3 weeks. solano county health officer bay lamott us tells me if you've had a first dose of pfizer or moderna. >> you'll still be able to get your second one on time. the decrease in the single dose johnson and johnson vaccine over the next 2 to 3 weeks anywhere between 5,7500 fewer doses means a lot fewer people vaccinated at first those clinics. he says they've been anticipating this. we knew it was and the national news. we've heard that johnson and johnson had to discard 15 million doses based a subcontractor air. and so that there was no way that that

wasn't eventually going to filter to us. and he says he's seen people more interested in the j and j vaccine. some people it's because they don't like shots. and they'd rather just get the lawn. just feel that it's products are more comfortable with because it's it's a more way of developing a vaccine. i also spoke with doctor peter chin, hong infectious disease specialist at ucsf. he says, well, it's frustrating for people waiting for a vaccine. it's just temporary. >> it's going be a bump in the road. but not a drop off the cliff. he says the good news is many of the most at risk population have already been vaccinated producing strain on the hospital system. it's important for people to know that overall we're not going to get a huge sage or run and hospital beds icu beds anymore. both agree that eventually everyone who wants a vaccine will get one. our goal is to vaccinate everyone who wants to be vaccinated and we will stay the course until

dining has been such a success in san jose city leaders recently expanded it through the end of the year and now some businesses want to close part of san pedro square to cause for good. kron four's. gayle ong has some reaction from businesses. >> this says street shut down has a lifesaver for myself and a lot of these other businesses randy muster own sushi confidential in san pedro square. he along with other business owners met with san jose city council to keep al fresco dining. as you know, a lot of corporate is not around. so we're really just relying on a lot of the residential here. brandon miranda is a server down the street at 71 st peter and welcomes the idea we're definitely in support of it and we just giving our voices to the idea and trying to. >> show how cool and we can make this whole place. look, the street closed early in the pandemic to allow outdoor dining and has been working out. i can tell you. >> since this has been open.

it is definitely help create a buzz around this whole street, san pedro square businesses are proposing to shut down san pedro street between santa clara street and west saint john street. the only entrance to the parking garage would be through market street. >> i think they should keep this close for. diners feel for the struggling businesses. they need to do it for a while. so these restaurants when things get more normal, they can have double the crowds to help make up for things. there really isn't any use in the street that you couldn't just go around. in the meantime, the city of san jose's department of transportation is looking into the proposal saying in part, quote, there are many factors to consider such as whether a full time or time limited closure would be most appropriate. how access to the parking garage might be maintained. what impact it might have on surrounding traffic and how it can best support community events that decision-making still in the early phases. a number of agencies will have to give their input on this proposal. >> but outdoor dining is here to stay until the end of the

>> good morning. welcome back. it's all clear now. but take a look at the big headache for caltrans friday as a huge rock slide closed both directions of highway 50 near echo summit. 4 hours. it's a major route to south lake tahoe. chp says one of their lieutenants notice the landslide just before 6 friday morning. luckily no one was hurt in all of this. but one driver did crash into. >> the boulders. as you can see, that on its side. but again, no one injured. so that's the good news. there. definitely scared. it's always scary when you're driving on those roads. >> yeah. oh, you're so close to the right there. you can see it can fall at any moment. and unfortunately, in this case it did. >> they were traveling westbound on us. 50 that

actually collided into the rocks after they had already fallen down. thank goodness there is no injuries, no fatalities. obviously the rocks to not fall on anyone. >> well, caltrans what went right to work clearing away the highway, some workers even climbing up on the mountain to push down any loose rocks onto the roadway to prevent another slide. they moved fast enough to be able to reopen one lane of traffic on highway 54 the rush of travelers as this is the very last weekend of the ski season for most of resorts. lot of folks want to head up to the sierra for that last taste of winter time or i'm wondering if they're going to get any bits of of snow. dave spahr might have answer for us on that. what dave? >> well doesn't look like not this weekend, at least now long-range there's the possibility of maybe some light snow shower activity. very, very calm week is coming up ahead watching those pictures there. fortunate that have to do with any kind of weather going on that would have been fine if you had to do with mudslides going on.

same time. so we don't want falling out either. looks like temperatures won't bounce too much either. that still be hanging nicely. here's what's going on in the home front. there's the live shot coming in from timber on and lots of sunshine going on for you this week. almost like a goldilocks for cash in on not too hot, not too cold. looking pretty good for this weekend and into next week as well. as no delays happening out there, but it is a bit of a chilly start. we have with 30's up to the north bay. we've got 40's dominating most of the east bay, although any racing ahead about 51 and some of those inland areas even this weekend. it's going start to feel like, you know, spring just wants to get out of little bottle. 44 going on for san jose. and we do have a little bit the way some high cloudiness just want to make note on balance basically mostly sunny. but we'll see that both today and tomorrow minor new ones will show this and future cast for here. not much to see. but again, we might have some up of some cloud cover into tomorrow a bit. so making note of some high cloudiness for your afternoon. not going to do

anything for temperatures, though, as they race ahead very nicely. this afternoon and tomorrow, too. so high clouds mild 60's, 70's going on in london. we talk about middle 70's and some of those inland valleys tomorrow. a few scattered clouds. nice inland highs. bump up a few more degrees. there will still stay in somebodys territory. and then for the week ahead, it is persistence and nice. that's one of the terms we use a means it could be much the same day today. not major fluctuations and the hopes for rain not looking good at all. mostly sunny in mid 70's. you can count on even some upper 70's going on as well for today, we're talking 60 for san francisco making notice some of those high clouds 68 for oakland and 70. meanwhile, for san jose again across the water. but as i mentioned earlier, some of thone high temperatures getting to the middle 70's. looks like both off to the delta there. east bay, santa rosa at 76 it build on that as we get into later on this week. we're going to keep it in the 60's, though, around the perimeter of the bay. martin. well, persistent

and nice. thank you. dave. sounds good national news this morning. the white house is stepping up efforts to sign up more people for health insurance through the affordable care act. >> so far, half a million americans have signed up during a special enrollment period, health and human services director javier becerra says a lot more people could qualify the covid relief bill signed last month includes funding for nearly 15 million uninsured americans. >> for americans who have no health insurance and are afraid that me and up catching covid. i would urge you to take advantage now. >> and those already enrolled may also qualify for a cheaper plan. this enrollment period has been extended through august. >> and other national news. president biden has signed an executive order creating a new commission to review the structure of the u.s. supreme court now over the next 6 months. a newly formed bipartisan commission. it's going to study possible court reforms. the white house says

it's part of the administration's commitment to exploring all options and making the highest court more efficient. he smart legal experts, people who have. >> been thinking about these issues for some 4 to have a discussion and debate. >> about it. i view the commission as an attempt to correct. the extreme partisan court packing. that the republican party engaged over the 5 or 6 years. >> conservatives are calling it a ploy by the white house to pack the court president biden campaigned on the idea of reform after former president trump appointed a 3rd supreme court justice fast tracking amy coney barrett's confirmation just days before the 2020 election. >> developing news this morning in the misconduct allegations against florida congressman matt gaetz, the house ethics committee has opened an investigation. this

also comes as gates is facing a justice department investigation into trafficking allegations involving underage girls. gates has retained 2 prominent new york attorneys. he's not been charged with a crime and has denied any wrong going any wrongdoing. rather. he also says he plans to keep his congressional seat. >> and still ahead, coming up in sports. johnny cueto on fire for the giants in their home opener yesterday. our sports director jason dumas has all the highlights a's more years to all. that's coming up.

in the 9th a's win it 6 to 2 for their second win of the season. and we had our first of the season. the padres joe musgrave had won against the rangers. he was a hit batter away from a perfect game. that kind of hurts. it's the first no-hitter in the 53 year history of the padres. could a hardwood folks. this was a frustrating one bradley beal. the leading scorer in the going former teammate kelly to break. they're steph curry. the second leading scorer in the nba. we're going to jump right to the 4th quarter warriors down one less than 40 to go. steph curry, put them up one. he had 32 points. and so in possession of 3 point game. they get offensive board and no andrew, he found bradley beal. that's last thing you can do. bradley would hit the foul shot. so in suing possession. great play drawn up by steve kerr. but. damion lee inexplicably still

everybody. and a lot of those winds are pretty much in the south bay. it looks like and down the peninsula for the most part for right now, at least course that'll change a bit. we'll get an afternoon breeze, well, pretty nice spring-like weather is what we're looking for. a head as we've got what's going on. let's take a look at the golden gates and you mentioned that not much the way of winds at all. as we noted earlier in the mostly mostly sunny skies some 30's going out there in the north bay 40's off towards the east bay. 44 for san jose little bit cooler this morning that it was from yesterday morning by just a couple of degrees. we're going make up for it this afternoon and for the week ahead, noting where the wind pockets are a little bit off to the east bay of touch and on around the peninsula in the santa cruz mountains in the north bay as well. there's your breakdown going on about 58 for 11 by 2, we're talking 72 in a coming up a little bit here. we'll be taking a look at your 4 zone forecast, marty. thanks on. let's get to our top story this half hour. some shocking new charges. >> connected to the deaths of these 2 officers were now

learning that for northern california men, including 3 from the bay area are facing federal charges. they're accused of helping cover up the murder of a sergeant and a federal officer last year. >> kron four's dan thorn has more on who these men are. >> the u.s. department of justice charges for people with destroying evidence related to the killing of a federal protective service officer in oakland on may 29th of last year, david patrick underwood was killed in a drive-by shooting in front of the federal courthouse. and a week later, sergeant damon gutzwiller with the santa cruz county sheriff's office was ambushed and killed its alleged. both attacks were carried out by a member of the far right militia group following the boogaloo movement and others within that group knew what was going down. i think it's important understand that this newly unsealed indictment. >> gives us a view into a boogaloo terror cell. devin burghart with the institute for research and education on human rights monitors far

right extremist behavior. he says the indictment shows accused gunman stephen did not act alone in planning and killing. >> either officer stephen was provided the ideological ammunition to go out and commit these horrific acts. >> by this larger group. the indictment alleges the group is called the grisly scouts and they communicated with each other and at the time of last summer's killings. they first met on facebook and then continue discussions about violence against law enforcement and whatsapp. federal authorities say the 4 men later deleted those conversations. >> the charges included 3 men from the bay area. 33 year-old robert jesus block us. 23 year-old simon cg barra of los gatos and 21 year-old kenny matthew mix of san lorenzo along with another man from turlock, 29 year-old jesse alexander rush burkhardt says these charges will hopefully discourage bad actors while we can acknowledge that the threat of these extremist

groups. israel. it's hopeful that this indictment. >> sends a clear message to those in the far right who continue to have fantasies about a second civil war that their actions have consequences reporting in san francisco. >> dan thorn kron 4 news. >> the fresno police department fired an officer with alleged ties to white nationalist group. the proud boys. rick fitzgerald was fired after he was seen on social media protesting with members of the proud boys outside of a fresno movie theater. for fitzgerald sat down exclusively with our sister station in fresno and was asked point-blank if he's a racist. >> have a racist put in my body. ask anybody i've worked with. i've 18 years in an apartment such a raging racist that nobody could find anything that substantiates that. >> well, the fresno police chief made it clear the fitzgerald did not resign that he was fired. mayor jerry dyer

says he won't tolerate racism from city employees. fitzgerald is currently under investigation by the da's office in fresno and he says he welcomes the investigation and says the dia will find nothing. >> the university of san francisco has expelled a student for hanging a noose on a campus balcony. we first brought you this story last week at least 2 students noticed that news in the school's loyola village complex and reported it campus public safety officers had it removed and officials say an investigation found the student in question acted alone and the expulsion is effective immediately. meanwhile, oakland police say the city is dealing with a surge in violent crime this week. at least 3 people were killed in a 24 hour period on wednesday and on thursday, thursday, the department responded to 32 robberies in another 24 hour span while 32 the investigations into all of these cases are still ongoing. meanwhile, opd office offers

>> national news this morning. we have new details on the alleged shooter that killed 5 people in south carolina before taking his own life. officials say they will test former nfl player phillip adams brain for cte. that's a degenerative disease known to cause violent mood swings and other cognitive disorders. week 2 of the derek chauvin murder trial ended with compelling testimony from a korea key prosecution witness. that's the medical examiner who performed the autopsy on george floyd was a really interesting testimony. the doctor said there were drugs in floyd's system. >> and he had heart disease, but he blames the police restraint of floyd particularly chauvin's knee on floyd's neck for his death. kareen wynter has more from

day 10 of the trial. >> one of the prosecution's most powerful witnesses finally took the stand on the second week of the proceedings, medical examiner doctor andrew baker who performed george floyd's autopsy. he said he chose not to initially viewed the viral video of floyd's graphic or asked before examining him. so as not to biases findings, he told jurors that due to floyd's heart diseases, heart needed more oxygen than a normal heart and that his adrenaline increased rate the combat of arrest which put more stress on his organ. in my opinion. >> the the law enforcement subdual restraint neck compression was just more than mister floyd could take 5 virtue of that. those heart conditions doctor baker also testified that bruising and abrasions on its face were consistent with him struggling to lift his head off the concrete. a brief medical experts called by the prosecution continued building their case for conviction and the dark show the murder trial forensic pathologist doctor lindsay thomas explain to jurors her rulings as he observed george floyd's autopsy photos. she said

right, dave, thanks a lot. let's get right to our top story this hour, more people in california now eligible to receive a covid-19 vaccine as several counties in the state, including right here in san francisco decided to open things up to more residents. yeah. everyone 16 and older can now sign up for an appointment. >> but here in san francisco, it's only if you live in certain zip codes are kron four's camila barco is joining us live now from san francisco. with a breakdown of where exactly you can have all of this camila. >> know, marty, people are already taking advantage of today's vaccination of that. if you can look behind me, this is the line for today's event and it already around the building and the event hasn't even started. this is the first group of people at san francisco general who are 16 and older to get a covid shot before today. the only people who are eligible where people were 1550 and older or those who had health problems. but like like you said, this

>> good morning all. and mardy. as you can see behind me, the lines just keep on growing actually had a different place than when i was earlier and behind me is the first group of people who are 16 and older to be eligible to get a covid shot and i see lines because i have been made aware that there are 2 buildings that have been a big that are available 2 make room to get people. these covid shots now, as we mentioned before, shots are only available for people who live in certain zip codes. if you take a look at your screen. these are the areas that city is focusing on serving some of these neighborhoods include the bayview mission tenderloin trail hill and patrolling neighborhoods. so if you live in any of the zip codes and are above the age of 16. you are eligible to get the covid shot now where this happening, the drop in vaccines are available at southeast health center or here at sf general. no appointment is needed. but i will warn people that

zavala has more. >> as california continues to see a normally dry conditions across the state about a dozen lawmakers are urging governor newsom to declare a drought related state of emergency. this is the slowest most foreseeable train wreck imaginable. state senator andreas borgeas is one in a bipartisan group of lawmakers who sent a letter to the governor requesting the declaration, a meeting with water resource officials and financial assistance for food producers. one of the take away is that i got from your letter. there are billions of dollars and thousands, 10's of thousands of jobs that are at risk as a result of this water shortage easily. we're now down to a 5% allocation of state in down to a status quo. 0 at the federal level. >> so if you are did literally extrapolate that out on what that means. the farming community, which has to make real-time decisions now. do they plant. do they take out. do they allowed to follow. so
