>> good morning, everybody. and thank you so much for joining us on the kron 4 morning news on marty gonzales. and i'm noelle bellow. it is saturday. april 7th. no. how about this? a lot 1717 $0.17. so want to get to this morning. 3 of us down. i promise. understand what day it is the gist of it. >> there's a lot going on across the country. of course, here at home, we've got some i think beautiful weather. it's it's looking pretty good. and a spar has all the details for us this morning. know on. marty, good morning. good morning, everybody could be excused for not knowing because this forecast is confusing. we'll flavor of some are coming our way this weekend. yeah. going get really warm. >> they're in contra, costa county up in the solano county. those areas are going start to pop some really toasty temperatures as we get to tomorrow, particularly for today, though, first or business south take care of this fog. this we got on the east bay shoreline. you can see it's kind of filled up the bay right now. golden gate bridge. you can actually see how the fog is trying to lift an mix out a little bit. give it a couple of hours. it will

do just that will be by 1030 or so. we'll be looking at clearing skies, at least 9.15, or so. those temperatures are holding mostly in the 40's. some 50's already 51 san jose 50 oakland hayward also 52 going on for any aac. little bit warmer this morning. that was this time from yesterday by a couple degrees as you'll see there and we'll see a lot more of that going forward. 65 at 11 by 2. we're talking 79. have a look at that summertime forecast predicted by tomorrow. coming up in a bit. and breaking overnight, hundreds of protesters marching in the streets of oakland. now that demonstration a response to the fatal shooting. >> of 20 year-old duante wright. the protests began shortly after 8.30 last night in the images. >> very similar to what we all saw last year when george floyd protests took place after he was killed. 11 months ago. it's a clear message of

anger and frustration over the killings of unarmed black people at the hands of police. >> kron four's camila barco standing by live with more this morning. commute. good morning. >> good morning, marty. all and frustration is right. many people took their frustrations to the streets of oakland. bright was shot and killed by brooklyn center. police officer kim potter during a traffic stop sunday sense, potter has been charged with second-degree manslaughter. but as you will see, the unrest continues this is video of a protest happening now, a local dealership in oakland. several videos show it is the honda dealership in oakland. >> the glass window of the business smashed and a fire ignited in the building. another fire inside a car at the honda lot small smoke also just leaving that car. the vehicle smoke also leaving the vehicle and the car window vandalized several other windows smashed with a glass broken and then here is the scene at a local target.

protesters tried to break through the glass. several of them just attempting to hit the windows with their hands. others using their feet to kick through the glass. many using objects like rocks to even break through. police taking the streets, patrolling the area. if you take a close look, a group of people in the far end according to oakland police at one point protesters dragged barriers into the roadway to block and delay officers from responding eventually the protesters would break through windows leaving several of them smashed and broken. now another video shows vandals attempting to break through a california bank and trust which quickly lied to setting a fire outside the building. a lot of these businesses were located along the broadway and telegraph quarter. one person says it's devastating to see the destruction going on, which in turn is hurting the businesses.

>> now, as you can see, several businesses earlier that day took matters into their own hands and boarded up in the anticipation of these protest the last time this happened, several shops were hit by vandals. then. so they didn't want to take any chances. but as you can see this time around. a lot of damage has already been done. and according to oakland police department, the protest ended around 11 o'clock last night one officer sustained a head injury after being struck in the head with a bottle. however, no other injuries were reported. no arrests were made and no citations were issued. well, marty, back to you. >> camila. thanks a lot. that live report. >> another big story we fall. we've been following protests took place across the country as hundreds turned out in chicago over the shooting

death of 13 year-old adam toledo after a video from 17 body cameras were released. the officer who shot and killed the teenagers say he had a gun in his hands and was aiming at officers. video shows he was shot less than one second after dropping a handgun and putting his hands in the air. >> i think what happened is unacceptable. i think police across this country or a motorized. they. >> 2 willing to shoot first and people. too many people >> the protesters also marched to the home of the chicago mayor, the teen's family and city officials have asked people remain peaceful. >> we have developing news this morning. the fbi searching the home linked to the suspect in the fatal shooting at that fedex plant in indianapolis. the fbi says it question 19 year-old brandon whole last year after his mother called police to say her son might commit suicide by cop. a police

of a century. prince philip died on april 9th at the age of 99 after. >> 73 years of marryage to the queen. his body will be laid to rest today in the royal vault at windsor castle. >> a modified land rover carried his coffin in a procession to windsor castle earlier this morning. now because of covid only 30 people are going to be allowed inside the castle's saint george's chapel, including, of course, the widowed queen her 4 children and her 8 grandchildren. and we'll be right back.

traffic going on. we have pretty high pressure cell here. those benign clouds remain out to sea checking into wins, though, because we're getting that inland heating going on today and tomorrow. by the way, we'll get some of those on shore. winds, although curiously little off shore up the solano county. then later on for tomorrow with really big time heating going on. we'll have a nice good on shore when that's happening. this is being the local winds that are being driven by the features of the pa griffey. we have happening with inland warming going on mostly sunny and spring-like 70's for the bay 80's happening inland tomorrow spring flirting with summer. don't you know, 70's happening at the coast. that's right. we'll scratching the some lower 70's tomorrow in the 80's. well, inland and even in some parts around the bay quickly cooling into next week. highs tumble back to the 70's. even some inland highs by next friday may be settling in the upper 60's at that still kind of bouncing around a little bit. that's typical spring for you. 66 san francisco. we've got sunny and nice. 72 oakland 74. meanwhile, for san jose

elsewhere across the bay there. the 80's popping there you can see the solano contra costa county up to nap as well. we'll take a little bit better inspection of that on the 4 zone forecast. look at your extended to mark. okay. dave, thanks, lynn. let's get to national news this morning, president biden ordered half of flags to fly at federal buildings at half staff. >> it's the 5th time this year. he's done so calling it an epidemic. the president angrily condemned the mass shootings going on in the country and outside the white house. he also called on congress to take action to address gun violence. >> this has to it's a national embarrassment. every single day. every single day. >> there's a mass shooting. this young team in the united states. if you count all those who were killed out in the streets of our cities and our rural areas. >> well, the president is calling on congress to pass gun legislation that would require universal background checks and also has a ban assault rifles. the bills have passed the house but stalled

month of job growth that follows a year of enormous losses because of the pandemic. according to the employment development department, the state added more than 100,000, 119,000 new jobs last month. the leisure and hospitality industry leading the way with 42,000 new jobs. analysts say that it will likely be years before california recovers. all of the 2.7 million jobs that were lost during the first 2 months of the pandemic just last year. >> in the meantime, governor newsome has signed a new bill requiring some hotels and hospitality companies to offer laid-off workers their jobs back. those businesses were among the hardest hit during the pandemic. the new bill only applies to workers who have their jobs for at least 6 months before the pandemic started. and those who are laid off specifically because of covid now businesses which don't take workers back, could be fined up to $500 per employee. >> well, the u.s. is facing a supply chain crisis. more than a dozen cargo ships are

>> and let's take a look at the scene at a target store in oakland where protesters are smashing windows. some even using their bare hands to break those windows. vandals also set fire to a california bank interest branch. the fatal shooting of daunte a right at the hands of police in many minnesota sparked this type of demonstrations across the country all week long. he was shot and killed by former brooklyn center police officer kim potter during a traffic stop on sunday. officer potter has since been charged with second-degree manslaughter. but a lot of businesses, of course, boarded up earlier friday in anticipation of these protests. >> the last time they happened. several businesses were hit by vandals. and despite their preparations by the store owners. many businesses did get hit overnight. now, according to opd, the protest ended about 11 o'clock last night. >> one officer was injured after being struck in the head with a bottle. no other injuries to report. there were no arrests and no citations issued.

against me, though. i maintain full innocence under the law. i've decided to step back from an active role as mayor until the formal investigation is complete. i do not want my presence or participation to create a distraction. her cause any additional hurt for our residents who still needs to resign. and i'm hopeful that he will. >> i don't think this is going to the outrage winds or vice mayor sam salmon says resignation is the proper move stepping back, though, will help. >> from the terms of governance. it does give us more of a pass so that we can. >> address some of these issues that have been raised its. he really was for the people and the mayor for the people he would resign. sophia williams is one of 4 police accusers. she says she thinks stepping back accomplishes nothing and believes the mayor hopes this will just blow over. she says it won't we know this isn't like an isolated case. we know this isn't just like one time thing

one person has these accusations against them. this is something that, you know, we see in the news all the time. so i hope the message is that. >> you know, you can't get away with it. the situation is ever changing but will likely not change or protests like these until these folks get the resolution. they're looking for. >> in windsor. dan kerman kron 4 news. >> and now a tragic milestone to tell you about. is the worldwide covid-19 death toll is now topping a staggering 3 million people. that's according to johns hopkins university. this development comes amid repeated setbacks in the worldwide vaccination campaign along with the deepening covid crisis in brazil, india and france. now to give you perspective this death toll is larger than the population of chicago, which is 2.7 million and it's equal to the populations of the cities of philadelphia and dallas combined.

with their hands. others using their feet and some grabbing rocks and throwing them at target you can see several police officers patrolling the area, making their way to a crowd of people in the far end oakland police say at one point protesters dragged barriers into the roadway blocking and delaying officers from responding eventually the people in this video would break through businesses, leaving several windows smashed and broken vandals also attempted to break through a california bank trust which quickly led to a setting up by air outside the building. >> these businesses were located along the broadway in telegraph corridor. one person says it's devastating to see the chaos going on which in turn is hurting the businesses.

overnight, hundreds of protesters marching in the streets of oakland. this demonstration was a response to the fatal shooting of 20 year-old dante wright. the protests began shortly after 8.30 last night. >> the images eventually became very similar to what we saw last year when george floyd protests took place after he was killed. 11 months ago. a clear message of anger and frustration over the killings of unarmed black people at the hands of police kron four's camila barco standing by now live with more on that good morning. >> good morning, martin. while many people took their frustrations to the streets in oakland. wright was shot and killed by brooklyn center police officer kim potter during a traffic stop on sunday. potter has $0.10 been charged with second second degree manslaughter. but as you will see, the unrest continues here's a look at yesterday's demonstration. we

start off. >> at a local the dealership video show it was the hondo of oakland a glass window of the businesses broken and a flame ignited in the building. another fire. this time inside a car stationed at the lot with smoke also exiting the vehicle. several other cars had their windows smashed. now, here's the scene at target a crowd trying to break through the glass. many attempting to hit the windows with their hands. others using their feet and some grabbing rocks throwing them at the business. you can see several police officers patrolling the area. >> and making their way to a crowd of people in the far end oakland police says at one point protesters dragged barriers into the roadway blocking and delaying officers from responding. eventually the people in this video would rake through businesses leaving several windows, smashed and broken. the vandals also attempted to break through a california bank interest which quickly led to a setting, a fire outside the building. these

businesses were located along the broadway and telegraph corridor. one person says it's devastating to see the destruction going on which has resulted in a lot of businesses. the damaged. >> the last time these protests happened, several shops were hit by protesters yesterday. these business owners were taking any chances and boarded up in anticipation of these demonstrations. still, you can see a lot of damage has already been done. now, according to opd, the protest ended around 11:00pm. one officer suffered a head injury because of bottle was he was struck with a bottle. however, no other injuries were reported. no citations were issued and no arrests were made. well, marty, back to you. alright camila, thanks a lot for that live report.

overseas now was a somber day in england as prince philip is be was laid to rest. we're taking a live look outside right now at windsor castle. his funeral earlier today saluted his service in the royal navy. also, of course, the support that he gave the queen elizabeth, the second for over 3 quarters of a century. prince philip died. april 9th at the age of 99 after 73 years of marriage. his body has been laid to rest in the royal vault underneath windsor castle, which we're looking at windsor castle right now. but. >> that will not be his permanent resting place. his body will be moved when queen elizabeth passes, they'll eventually be laid to rest together in the king. george, the 6th memorial chapel king george the, of course, queen elizabeth's father. >> well, the queen road in his state in the bentley at the rear of the per>session. earlier today, the entire procession and funeral taking place out of public view within the grounds of windsor castle. a modified land rover carried the body of prince philip and his coffin in a procession to the castle
