sorry. messing up your good morning, guys. good morning, everybody. and the rain gear you need that for tomorrow. today. we just get a little taste of that in some parts of the bay such as san francisco little bit up in the north bay there be some drizzle and lots of cloud cover, although some better clearing happening in the south bay is what we expect live picture shows all the cloud cover pretty much here in from the vantage point of a southern marin and san francisco. you'll see cloud cover good portion of today. there's the golden gate kind of up close and personal. there. 52 for oakland right now. we've got some 50's sprinkle in the east bay up to the north bay pretty close to that as well. 48 santa rosa, it's all this cloud cover in place. 51 san jose. so that's why we're actually a little ahead of where we were this time from yesterday except near water. you can see it's trailing by a degree or so for today, quite a bit of cloud cover in the south. but you'll see quicker and better clearing going on. probably almost like mostly sunny for a few hours. then the clouds start to fill in a little bit later on this evening. we do some predawn showers going on overnight. but to greet us

of eligible residents fully vaccinated trying to make a bigger effort to increase those numbers. >> we still need to make sure that we're actively reach out. you know, we're doing things like peace working with the local school districts will work with communities organizations credit. visibility? >> marin county is also seeing some unused appointments, although more than 80% of county residents eligible for a shot have already had at least one county leaders hope extending hours and adding more community clinics will e% help the last 20% get their shots. >> meanwhile, in the south bay, santa clara county health officials are celebrating a major vaccination milestone. 1 million residents have received at least one dose more than 62% of eligible residents have received a shot and about one 3rd of the population has been fully vaccinated accounts to more than half a million people with an increase in supply. officials say that there are plenty of appointments available.

>> the moderna vaccine could soon have a booster shot available later this year. moderna's ceo says the company is working to develop a booster to help protect against covid variants and hopes to have the shot approved by late summer or early autumn moderna's current vaccine is already more than 90% effective against the virus up to 6 months after the second dose. it still remains unclear how long immunity from the virus will last though, earlier this month, pfizer ceo also said a booster shot was likely a necessary. new guidance from the cdc is recommending pregnant women get the covid shot. it comes following a new study that found no safety concerns among a large group of pregnant people who got the pfizer or moderna shot in their 3rd trimester. there were also no safety concerns found for their babies cdc director doctor rochelle walensky encourage people to speak with. there physicians to

raise astronaut megan mcarthur was piloting the historic mission macarthur graduated from saint francis high school in mountain view. this is her second trip to space in 2009. she flew on the space shuttle mission to repair the hubble telescope and now she'll be spending the next 6 months there on the iss. we talked to her former high school principal who says megan's great adventure is helping to launch the dreams of girls around the world. she always knew she wanted to do this. she's done it but there's still that sense of a lack of reality that it was actually happening each flying into space for 6 months. >> you know, breaking all but boundaries and barriers as a as a woman and as a mother and is just as you monday. >> fantastic macarthur has visited her mountain view on the moderate to help inspire students. the current principal says her career trajectory is giving their female students interested in science. a big boost. all the bit. wow. very impressive. i

all day, though, we do see the skies opening up in the east bay a little bit. and in the south bay, a quick check checking the temperatures because of that. all this cloud cover word about 50 over most of the region sorts mild start. we have here with 55 for 51 san jose 48. meanwhile, for santa rosa watching what goes on for this is now in today. good to get some sprinkles going on in southern missouri. so southern marin and into san francisco. it doesn't get much further than that. you see the south bay kind of opened up a little bit there fills in with cloud cover and then overnight rain develops. nice little swath here in the east bay. but don't worry, there's more coming up. upstream that will be for story tomorrow morning and into the afternoon, coupled with for today. we've got those winds going on this afternoon on shore. kind of a given with that. but when we throw the element of some rain involving there's going to kind of sloppy and all that on sunday. that's why we say got to get done today because tomorrow you add in some winds with that rain just going to kind of sloppy situational,

though we definitely do need the rain. we need a lot more than this. what we have is mostly cloudy today, cool in the 60 some clearing in the south bay that's going to be little window of opportunity. we see that in the east bay that to then tomorrow the rain is scheduled breezy coupled with that. again, the rain will start predawn cool, 50's and 60's for highs the 60's will be a bonanza if you get that next week, it's sunny and warming and we're back to business in the 80's inland already by midweek elements of play together here. there's the front is really racing for us and it's a good location out of the gulf of alaska tends to bring us is juice year systems to help bring us some rain and mountain snows coming up to it. i hope 58 san francisco today 65 san jose, because we have better clearing in the south bay open. meanwhile, check-in about 62 across the wider real estate, a struggle to get to some upper 60's will not be that warm come tomorrow with the rain. we'll get into some of those longer range forecast ideas coming up in just a bit morning. well, thanks a lot will happening today. it's

>> we didn't think that the front-runners have emerged yet in this campaign. and i think today is you know, cruiser point. i don't think she's on the same level as arnold at all fortunate came into that recall in 2000, we with some policy chops. he'd let about an issue of the year before we aren't seeing this at all here. >> jenner doesn't have any policy proposals posted to her website yet. but does have merchandise already for sale. she's working with donald trump's former presidential campaign manager brad parscale. >> developing news this morning, a ban on new fracking permits in california will begin in 2024 governor. nice newsome taking the action after state lawmakers failed to pass a plan to outlaw fracking. the governor also called on state regulators to look into phasing out all oil production in california by 2045 advocates have consistently fought to end fracking because they say it causes damage to the

environment. critics say the ban on new permits will hurt the state's economy and lead to job losses. >> the attorney general of the turning down state of california. state of california graduates with stranger. >> rob bonta is now officially california's new attorney general. this is video from his swearing-in ceremony friday. he's the first to latino to serve as the top law enforcement official in the state. the former east bay assemblyman has a record of pushing for criminal justice reform including proposals to end cash bail. in many cases bond to replace is javier becerra who was appointed by president biden to become us health and human services secretary. >> and still ahead on the kron 00:00am morning news the warriors played in front of fans at the chase center for the first time in over a year we'll find out if those fans went home. happy. also the giants. the nays are hot. can they keep it going. we'll find out in all the highlights when we come back.

players really appreciate it. we just heard from draymond green a couple moments ago during the postgame about this. he said the fans really did provide the team a boost and he want to thank them again, just so appreciative of being able to have dubnation back in chase center. it was a lot of fun to watch this game. a great team win for the dobbs. and again, just having fans back made it really special real boost of energy, as you said, his dream on set, but the nuggets are good kylen. there are the 4th best team in the western conference right now. so how did the does get it done. >> yeah. this was a great team win. like i mentioned a couple things stood out to me for steph curry back to being steph curry after an off night just 18 points against the wizards ending his 11 game. 30 point streak 32 points for steph. so he was looking much more like his usual self another big thing that i noticed kelly who great junior major contributions off the bench since he switched over to that new role coming in. >> off the bench. he seems to really be excelling in that role and he told us during a

media session earlier this week. he's embracing it and that does seem to be true. also jordan poole continuing to come through off the bench. he finished with 15 points. i believe so. he looked really good. we just saw contributions all the way around. draymond green. 19 assists, typical dray setting up other guys. you love to see him in steph curry when things start to click. so it was just a lot of fun to watch this game. the team defititely got it done and played some great basketball. how about some baseball a's on the road in baltimore. they were looking for win number 12 in a row out. top of the 5th inning mon loriano at the plate for oakland and he. >> goes yard. it's 2 nothing game. so that gave oakland a 3. nothing lead and they would end up winning 3 to one. so they have now won 12 in a row. hard to believe when they started the and 6 years. but put it in perspective. it was a 12 in a row is one more than 11 in a row. and it's it's we're just playing each day

be hard to watch the home security cameras captured the teenager being punched in the face and slammed to the ground. >> by the police officer. >> first david preston than those. i think the >> there had projected that have brought to them. >> from special meeting for her comeback. move them. >> well, the incident happened on wednesday. police responded to a report of a possible stabbing in the neighborhood. preston was headed to play with a neighbor when police arrived and things quickly escalated. you can see the officer did get physical with preston. police say the officer used, quote, distraction strikes to overcome resistance. >> the department now says at least one officer was aware the teen was autistic, but the acting police chief says the officer who responded to this incident did not know that information. >> and we'll continue to stay on top of this story and report any new developments to you soon as we get them.

>> landrieu hall, the danville police officer and former sheriff's deputy charged with manslaughter has been released from jail. he's out on 200, $20,000 bail. he was charged wednesday by the contra costa county d a in the killing of 33 year-old. a lot of mare arboleda hall shot and killed her belated during a chase through the streets of danville back in november of 2018. he later testified he believed a relay to was going to run him over. although video shows him continuing to fire as he steps out of the path of our latest car. >> in the north bay. the effort to recall winds are done. mayor dominic foppoli will offense will officially enter the next phase on monday. now, according to the santa rosa press, democrat. the chair of the recall foppoli campaign plans to file papers to calling to remove poli through a recall election. the poly is facing assault accusations from 6

different women and has been facing pressure to resign as well. the mayor designed denies those accusations and is refusing to step down. instead he has stepped back from his duties. >> a redwood city family is recovering after a home invasion, a kron four's amanda hari spoke to the victim's daughter to learn more about what happened and how they're doing. >> i spoke to the daughter off camera. she says the whole family is still very scared. her mother was hurt. the worst she had a cut on her forehead and a busted lip. >> this really an unexpected crime. and what neighbors say is usually a quiet neighborhood. joe de lago says his wife heard the home invasion. she heard a little commotion last police say it happened near villota road and oak avenue in redwood city around 11 thursday night. i spoke to the victim's daughter. she says she was with her parents just 15 minutes before the incident

happened. she posted about it on next door dot com to let her neighbors now de lago has lived in this neighborhood for about 30 years and has never seen anything like this. it's really a great neighborhood did that. you the victim's daughter says that 3 masked men went into the home case. her father and hit her mother in the head and mouth with a gun. >> they took a safe inside. there were important documents and all the money they'd state. they filed a report with redwood city police and are hoping the suspects are caught law goes says he's keeping an eye out. but hopes nothing like this happens again. now they just started. >> started to be a little bit more. >> things happening like that. seems to me the daughter tells me the suspects left in a light colored bmw suv at the back window was broken out in redwood city amanda hari kron 4 news.

>> a bay area nonprofit is working to keep asian americans safe in their communities. the vines and smiles organization is located in south san francisco and they created some safety kits include items like whistles to help. call for help just in case of an emergency. now all of this comes after a wave of of assault against the asian american community across the bay area and across the country. >> i saw people posting in the awareness was great. but i was like, what are we doing to really help protect the elderly when they want to go out and go buy groceries or just for a walk and went without waiting for someone to help them solace thinking we need a creepy safety kids and put these in the hands of the elderly. so they feel a bit more safe. >> well, those kits also include small flashlights self-defense personal sirens and pepper gel spray members with not with the nonprofit say elderly asian americans need these kits the most. >> coming up here on the kron 00:00am morning news several bay area counties are already seeing the effects of a dry

>> a new audit finds the city of oakland is not prepared to deal with the homeless crisis. according to the report, nearly 79% of homeless people were unsheltered because of a lack of permanent to 40 affordable housing options. yeah. that audit also revealed certain housing options for the homeless kron four's.

gayle ong talked with the city auditor and the city council member. >> we're living it and seeing it every day on and off the freeways of oakland road. the district throughout our city. they see how begin basket problem has become. they how we have not at a quickly addressed city council member lauren taylor says he is not surprised. an audit found. the city was not prepared to deal with the problem and left and efficient strategy for dealing with the growth of the camps given management is how we support people who are. >> on the street and an house. >> but we have to really make sure that we're keeping folks from getting an have get becoming and how and also we have to help those who are in house transition into long term, permanent housing, the 102 page audit counts that nearly 79% of homeless people were unsheltered because of a lack of permanent affordable housing options. >> and limited temporary housing option. the residents have clearly stated that this is a huge issue for them. they want to make sure that are on

health properly cared for as well as our house. >> are you still there. public parks and streets are safe. it took elected city auditor of oakland. courtney ruby a year to complete the report we identify 12.6 million dollars. that was not with an budget, right. so that means the city didn't have a formal budget to put these in camden activities. but now all the council has this information and the mayor have the information and we're right in the middle of the budget cycle. the council also found that 70% of oakland's homeless population are african-american compared to 24% in the general population structural racism. >> that first day in cities across our country. the same. just proportional representation exist. and so it's just further emphasize or need to bring a true equity lines where we are focused on solving these challenges that also look that police and fire response times to ensure

moving some cattle either out of the state or 4 different areas in the state. >> we're not alarmed, but we're being careful honor. 55 acre soul food farm in solano county owner alexa's koch is doing what she can to prepare her. all of trees in flower beds ahead of a dry fire season. there are times now that farmers also have to realize that there's no power. so your pumps won't work and you can't water things. it. it's a particularly hot day over a 100 degrees. that's why covid and other farmers have been using a method called dry farming or regenerative agriculture in drought conditions. if you were taking care of the soil and managing the soil to have a more water holding capacity and keeping this oil covered. so it wasn't getting cracked and dried and evaporating moisture. that was even a much higher level of sort of managing the farm and dealing with droughts which not only saves water within the county. but according to kofi, it produces a better

soon have a booster shot available later this year. moderna ceo says the company is working to develop a booster to help protect against covid variance and hopes to have the shot approved by late summer or early fall moderna's clinton current vaccine is already more than 90% effective against the coronavirus up to 6 months after the second dose. but it's still unclear how long immunity from the virus last now, earlier this month, pfizer's ceo said that a booster shot was likely necessary. and there's new guidelines from the cdc that recommends pregnant women get the covid shot. it comes following a new study that found no safety concerns among a large group of pregnant people who got the pfizer or moderna shot in their 3rd trimester. there are also no safety concerns found the for their babies. the cdc director doctor rochelle walensky encourage people to talk to their doctors, to the figure out what's the best for them and their child.

mom needs help but, she doesn't want to move. we're mostly concerned about her safety. she's already had a couple of falls. we had this joke, 'oh, that's a senior moment, right? but it wasn't. i'm driving her to the doctor, physical therapy... making sure that she's eating and staying hydrated. home care with an entire support team. mom could stay in her house, as long as she wants. that would be the perfect solution. she could live independently, and do her own thing. but with support, and transportation. i can focus more on my family too and be secure in knowing that she's happily looked after. he could keep doing his vegetable garden, and get really good, specialized care. and i could just be her daughter again.
