throughout the morning hours note that green up to the north. that means the potential for some thunder showers. with that is what we're looking at. golden gate bridge shot here. of course, we're all socked in with the cloud cover going on. a little bit of a breeze cooking here are temperatures are mostly into the 50's in most of the region. that's kind of a given to with all this cloud cover. now as you go inland, the rain will be a little bit more delayed. that's what we're getting for from this. this goes up to cocoa county and so we've got some showers out to the east bay, probably delayed into the early afternoon, temperatures will hold almost bay wide in the 50's everywhere from the coast to the in the regions coming up a little bit here will go in time this out for you. and when you can expect the rain where you live. no. well, marty. >> thanks, dave. in san francisco, hundreds of people gathered to honor the life of sean monterrosa on what would have been his 23rd birthday. monterroso. you may remember, was shot and killed by vallejo police last june as they responded to a vandalism call at a walgreens kron four's. amanda hari has more.

>> there was a lot of sadness, but there was some soy and getting to remember son. this was shawn's first birthday since his death and there were things like food music and even a balloon release and his on are doing everything we can do really to help never mind even story and make everyone knows john story. that's what sean monterrosa's sisters ashley and michelle sees been their goal for the last 10 months since their brother was killed 2020 shot was murdered by the police department april 24th was one of the hardest days yet for the monterroza families. >> it would have big sean's 23rd birthday. it was strange. you know, is one of the things that we look at and we wanted to say happy birthday, but there was no one to say happy birthday to physically, although he may be gone. hundreds of people came out to celebrate him with food, music and a balloon release in his honor. >> the knights on died. he had

been protesting the death of george floyd earlier this week. a jury found derek chauvin guilty for the killing they know with the verdict that shawn would be proud if he was here today, his sister michelle says the last text she got from him. it was about floyd just 30 minutes before shot was murdered. he texted my sister and i know many that we signed a petition to get george floyd justice. now his sister's continue to fight for sean. >> and any other person wrongfully killed by police shot is just a little piece of this long, long journey and it's a lot by at the celebration. his sister's collected books about social justice issues to put in this little library in his memory. it's right across from holly park in san francisco. amanda hari kron 4 news. >> a lawsuit has been filed against the san francisco school board for their attempts to end merit based admissions at lowell high school. the lawsuit was filed friday claiming the board

failed to properly list. the idea on their latest agenda and to provide equal time for both sides to discuss the matter. the board decided to end merit based admissions because of the lack of diversity and pervasive and systemic racism inside the school. >> investigators are searching for 3 people involved in a strong armed robbery in south san francisco. it happened in the area of el camino real and westboro boulevard. police say the suspects approached the 47 year-old man who was standing on the side of the road with his electric scooter. the suspects asked the man if you needed help before suddenly taking his backpack wallet and cell phone the suspect. then the suspects then left the scene in a 3 series bmw with an unknown license plate. they are described as white man to white women all in their 20's. and in the south bay san jose. police are investigating the city's 14th homicide of the year. take a look at this video from the citizen app of a big police response at the

scene. the shooting happened at an off campus student apartment building near san jose state university on east. can't san carlos street police tell us a man was killed in that shooting, but they have no information on the suspect nor have they arrested anyone will continue to keep you updated on this story. >> in the east bay pleasanton police arrested a man after shooting his gun dozens of times inside his house. some of those bullets made it into neighboring homes. this happened friday night on a royal court police say about 100 rifle. rounds were fired. new. no one was injured from the gunfire. that man is expected to be evaluated by mental health professionals. he has been booked at santa rita jail. and a scary moment for some drivers on the bay bridge. a viewer sent us this video of a van on fire on the bay bridge yesterday. you can see a thick cloud of black smoke billowing from that vehicle near the flames right we have reached out to fire

is already encouraging residents to conserve water right now. and kron four's gayle ong is in napa with how people are doing their part to reduce water consumption. >> people who live here in napa seem to know the drill from passage routes city officials are urging residents to take advantage of the rain expected sunday and give your sprinklers a break and richards is showing us how he is saving water in his napa home is trying to do everything in containers were as easy to grow. >> doesn't take a lot of water. but you got to have your richards remembers the last major statewide drought about 5 years ago having long that as we do out there when that dies i just mowed down the it and nothing goes on. your chandler is also doing her part all plants succulents instead of things that require a lot of water were trying to put river rock down and things rather you know. >> planting every inch of you are. there's no grass in th park lake hennessey is the major lccal water source for the city of napa system. the city says the lake is currently at 68% of capacity

>> so we've been waiting for the storm. yes. on its way. we were. we were hoping to see it last night. but dave says it's it's just a little late this morning. a day. what? yeah, the protections went all over the place in the afternoon evening tonight to all the way until overnight to get to today. so it looks like this morning into the early afternoon. the amounts are very, very modest. that's the thing. it look like that waited yesterday as well. >> about of a quarter of an inch or less. in fact, if you get a quarter of an inch or really hit a bonanza that would be the higher elevations with that. so it's enough to kind of wrecked the day a little bit going on here. but we do need the rain every little bit helps. here's what it looks like on storm tracker 4. we're tracking the morning rain. its pattern is very familiar. basically west to east. but it is favoring a little bit of a a jump to the north. just a touch to kind of graze southern marin on its passage off to the east bay. so that's all the projections we're looking at. we'll run through the models in just a bit. give you some pictures now. this is what it looks like up from timber on overcast. kind of dark gloomy skies in place. up close and personal. this is what the

golden gate looks like. again, overcast skies with some drizzle here and there. light rain temperature check lower 50's line of the east bay shoreline. same carlos, a chilly 49 along the santa rosa 54 delay hope 53 for not a lot of mercury movement today. there we have it on the rain projections as it marches through kind of arches up just a little bit. and by 6.30 just about everybody is going to have all the rain. they're going to get just a few little leftover scattered showers as a little side with this monday. we're not totally in the clear monday morning will start off of maybe a couple stray sprinkles for the morning commute. sun comes out a little bit heats up the atmosphere have some more leftover stray showers up to the north bay. it looks like a bit. this is all the way out to monday evening. again, this is all very token. don't wash your cause. the rule of thumb here. wait til maybe well tuesday. then you can do with because it looks pretty dry as we look out over the long range forecast with that. let's check the winds up. we get the onshore winds as promised going into the afternoon covering just about everybody, teens and 20's expected with that. then after

the passage of the storm. there's a little uptick that happens as we get into monday evening, a good, solid on shore when that will be accompanied by again, some of those pop-up little showers up to the north bay game plan. is this rain and scattered showers going on here. cool with 50's. there might be a few 60, 60. that's right. not 60's, but maybe a 60 here or there, most people will be in the 50's breezy with a few morning showers tomorrow, mostly sunny a late shower may return that will be again up in the north bay and then for the week ahead, it's sunny and warming 70's expected for the bay, maybe even near around 8080's expected for those inland valleys. so let's with early rain for san francisco scattered showers. same deal for oakland about 58 now san jose will just call it scattered showers as the rain just about to develop a chur in that santa clara valley there. sometimes it's a rain shadow which is why statistically get less rain in san francisco numbers on the board here, upper 50's for highs. as i mention, maybe grazing about 60 or so. of course, we'll have more of

46 foot juvenile male endangered fin whale. it was found on the sand friday night. the marine mammal center and california academy of sciences performed a necropsy just yesterday. >> they say significant bruising to muscle around the whale's neck is consistent with blunt force trauma due to a ship strike. this is the 5th whale to wash ashore. just this month. all others were gray whales and 2 of those were also classified as ship strikes. so they're just like asking people to, you know, those those in the water in their boats. make sure they're slowing down when they get to, you know, area of the bay. >> another county in the bay. area's surpassing the distribution of 1 million covid-19 live with th

we're covering up portions of the peninsula and on the south bay east bay shoreline, little bit there, too. this is expected to become a little bit more wholesome as the morning wears on, there still will be activity in the east bay by this afternoon. so we don't put the rain to rest until it's a probably by this evening, our sir. but he has that chance into the evening for the rain. just want to note some of this fog, the kind of shows you where the cloud cover. the rain has been there. it mixes to the late morning urs. that's because the cloud cover give you an idea that this is going to be kind of a gloomy sunday with all of this. unfortunately, we're not getting enough meat with this would like to get more rain. obviously a look at winds basically kind of variable. but on shore is the prominent direction. single digits across most of the region live shot of the golden gate. expect that to be prevalent across most of the bay throughout the day today overcast with light rain showers. so we got a few showers cloudy going on and then another batch here into the early afternoon, particularly in the east bay coming up a little bit here

we'll have your 4 zone forecast which basically mid to upper 50's for everybody. and a look at what we can expect longer range. noel morning. >> thanks, dave. a big day for contra costa county has more than 1 million coronavirus vaccine doses have now been administered. it is a big milestone. it's about a month ahead of their goal, which was may 31st. kron four's, camila barco. >> in martinez this morning with the good news. hi, camilla. good morning. >> good morning. and that's right. 1 million, 6,680 to contra. costa county has administered more than 1 million covid-19 doses as of this morning. and they're the latest county in california to do so and like you guys sent the county is way ahead of schedule, health care workers in january started administering 65,000 doses. so they set a goal to issue 1 million covid shots by the 4th of july, the county received boxes of vaccines and then moved up their deadline to memorial day. this allow them to. expand their vaccine

eligibility earlier than the state did. now they're get averaging about 15,000 doses during the weekdays about 2 thirds of the county's population age 16 and older has now received at least one vaccine dose 44.3% of eligible eligible residents are already fully vaccinated annual mardi santa clara and alameda county are 2 of the bay area are 2 counties in the bay area that have also surpassed 1 million covid-19 vaccines. back to you. >> alright camila, thank you for that report. party. >> well, now let's go ahead and take a look at the covid vaccine administration in the entire state. as of today, california has administered almost 28 million doses here in the bay area. santa clara county remains the highest with one and a half million shots that have been administered, napa county has given out almost 130,000 doses.

better get continue to overcome. >> kron four's ella sogomonian served as the memorials mistress of ceremonies. >> well, this morning we have newly released body cam video from a deputy involved shooting of a black man in virginia. it appears to show the deputy mistook a phone held by the man for a gun. >> he's got a gun to his head shot that >> stuff to hear isaiah brown is in critical condition this morning following the shooting. he was on the phone with 911. talking about a family dispute when deputies approached him. when the 911, operator heard the sirens. she told brown to put up his hands both deputies on the scene appeared to mistake. the phony held in his hand for a gun. in a statement brown's family said the shooting was, quote, can't completely avoidable. the deputy who fired the shots

life's challenges. >> there, they could be pretty negative. but if you look at them in a positive in and give yourself a pep talk about things could be worse. you things happen for a reason and think of life that way. you know, supposing you lost your job. yes, that could be a bad stress which we call distress. but if you look at it from a positive point of view, you could say, well, this is a great catalyst of great opportunity for me to do something different. something that maybe i really like to you know, i've heard that from so many people who have lost a job and then months later they say, you know that in retrospect was the best thing that happened to me. >> for a variety of a variety of reasons. number one is it got me up and moving again and moving in that direction. i finally did something i had meant to be doing for the past years or months. >> absolutely one door closes. but now they are open this next bullet point that you have sounds a lot like the serenity prayer.

>> haha. well. >> accept things that you cannot change. yeah, you know you you may have a toxic boss. you could be stuck in traffic. those things you can't change. but you can change the way you respond to those situations so you if you're stuck in traffic you can say, ok, i'm going to put in some books and you know, listen to some books and take things. i haven't been able to do for well, but think of all those positive things, things that you can do and not so much what you cannot do change this really comes back to what you said at the beginning and that is it all is on your perception. >> of what the stressor might be. exactly. exactly. that's what it comes down to. so you can you can manage your stress much better if you change the way you interpret events. >> and you also have to have an action plan. i would think. right. >> yes. and we kind of talked about this last having a plan.

a lot of people feel stressed because they feel like their life is going nowhere. so you have to have a plan and set up something that's very specific and have a goal and just having a goal is going to. >> make you feel better. that's like you're more empowered. you have more control over your life. so said the plan and make them make those steps very small and doable. >> and the last bullet point that we want to talk about taking care of ourselves, taking care adding some healthy habits to our life. >> yes, the exercise nutrition. if you those are the and getting enough sleep to those of the things that are going to energize you. and when you're energized here also, can you feel more positive about life and about your that the situation's so. >> very important to you. void a lot of those things we've always talked about, you know, the sugars in the salt. yeah. that's it. and get moderate intensity exercise in every day. those are the things that

knows john story. that's what sean monterrosa's sisters ashley and michelle sees been their goal for the last 10 months since their brother was killed 2020 shot was murdered by the police department april 24th was one of the hardest days yet for the monterroza families. it would have big sean's 23rd birthday. it was strange, you know, is one of the things that we look at and we wanted to say happy birthday, but there was no one to say happy birthday to physically, although he may be gone. hundreds of people came out to celebrate him. >> with food, music and a balloon release in his honor. >> the knights on died. he had been protesting the death of george floyd earlier this week. a jury found derek chauvin guilty for the killing they know with the verdict that shawn would be proud if he was here today, his sister michelle says the last text she got from him. it was about floyd just 30 minutes before

shot was murdered. he texted my sister and i know many that we signed a petition to get george floyd justice. now his sister's continue to fight for sean. >> and any other person wrongfully killed by police shot is just a little piece of this long, long journey and it's a lot by at the celebration. his sister's collected books about social justice issues to put in this little library in his memory. it's right across from holly park in san francisco. amanda hari kron 4 news. >> well, a lawsuit has been filed against the san francisco school board for their attempts to end merit based admissions at lowell high school that lawsuit was filed friday claiming the board failed to properly list. the idea on their latest agenda. and to provide equal time for both sides to discuss the matter. the board decided to end merit based admissions because of the lack of diversity and pervasive and systemic racism inside the school.

>> now to the south bay this morning we're san jose. police are investigating the city's 14th homicide of the year. take a look at this video from the citizen app. it's shows a big police response at the scene saturday. the shooting happened at an off campus student apartment building near san jose state university on the san carlos street police tell us a man was killed in the shooting, but they have no information on the suspect nor have they made any arrests so far. we'll continue to keep you updated on the story. >> in the east bay pleasanton police arrested a man after shooting his gun. dozens of times inside his own home. some of those bullets made it into neighboring homes. this happened friday night on a royal court police say about 100 rifle. rounds were fired. no one was injured from that gunfire. the man is expected to be evaluated by mental health professionals. he's been booked into santa rita jail. >> and it was a scary moment for some drivers on the bay bridge yesterday as a viewer sent us this video of a van

good morning, everybody. and kind of waiting for more meat behind yeah, i know it's kind of a lean piece of bone here. we've got going on your this is what we have in stormtracker for some rain from a radar at least appearing in the peninsula and we've got a nice little chunk off to the east bay. there's a little bit more upstream to be had. quantitatively want to get a lot out of most projects us about a quarter of an inch of rain or maybe less with all of that. there's still more upstream here to be waiting for hopefully later on today. pictures look much the same here. the overcast in place here from timber on golden gate bridge. see the overcast as well. having said all that temperatures are pretty much in the lower to middle 50's and not going to move much beyond that point either. 55 off to antioch. 51 going on for livermore mid 50's along the east bay shoreline at least for now. so we go forward with the projections with this and there again, another opportunity for some light rain showers going on here. boy, it seems like it's losing its punch. as we look at these more and more tonight after that we take a breather in. there might be a flair up tomorrow morning, potentially

no. well, mardy, good morning. good morning, everybody. and it looks like a very modest amount of rain is what going to get for kind of spread out as the entire day little patches that come across the bay area. russia watching one right now across much of midday going on. coming in from the same kind of direction as always. and we're talking about a west to east a passage going on here on storm tracker most of the activity appears to be again midday through the peninsula across the bay. pretty much sandwiched between the bay bridge and the san mateo bridge. it looks like there's a little chunk there. the south you can see city so looks like some moderate rain happening on the east bay shoreline there. as we take a look at everything into motion. they're still a little bit more upstream and there's a little art that happens that may lift this to the north as well. so we'll keep everybody in the rain into the afternoon. now with all the surface moisture. it's hard to get rid of this fog. typically this would mix outdoor in the noon hour. but you can see it almost follows the front at

about 15,000 doses during the weekdays and they've made progress since january. health care workers administered 65,000 doses during the first month of the year. the county set a goal to issue 1 million of them by the 4th of july. then contra costa received boxes of doses moving their deadline to memorial day. the county expanded their vaccine eligibility earlier than the state didn't. and now 2 thirds of people 16 and older has received at least one dose. 44.3% of the county's population is already fully vaccinated and contra. costa county is the latest in california to give more than 1 million doses. they join santa clara and alameda. on this milestone. and if you're still looking for a covid-19 shot. contra costa is actually offering to vaccination sites today. one of them is happening at the veterans memorial hall in richmond and the second one is at the

positive. >> so first be realistic. you know, a lot of people worry about things that are not even going to happen that are not even young eel. yeah. you know, they're thinking in the future. what if this happened. what if this help and things like that just never materialized. you really protecting forward, aren't you to something that may not happen. yes, and we've talked about this before, about staying in the present. right and not worrying about the future or the past. and this is a great example. when not to do that. >> you also want to have a positive attitude. >> yes. could positive spin on life and because, you know, life's challenges. >> there, they could be pretty negative. but if you look at them in a positive in and give yourself a pep talk about things could be worse. you know, and things happen for a reason and think of life that way. you know, supposing you

lost your job yes, that could be a bad stress which we call distress. but if you look at it from a positive point of view, you could say, well, this is a great catalyst and great opportunity for me to do something different. something that maybe i really like to you know, i've heard that from so many people who have lost a job and then months later they say, you know that in retrospect was the best thing that happened to me. >> for a variety of a variety of reasons. number one is. >> it got me up and moving again and moving in that direction. i finally did something i had meant to be doing for the past years or months. >> absolutely one door closes. but noey are open this next bullet point that you have sounds a lot like the serenity prayer. >> haha. well. >> accept things that you cannot change. yeah, you know you you may have a toxic boss. you could be stuck in traffic. those things you can't change. but you can change the way you respond to those situations so

you if you're stuck in traffic you can say, ok, i'm gonna put in some books and you know, listen to some books and take things. i haven't been able to do for well, but think of all those positive think some things that you can do and not so much what you cannot do change this really comes back to what you said at the beginning and that is it all is on your perception. >> of what the stressor might be. exactly. exactly. that's what it comes down to. so you can you can manage your stress much better if you change the way you interpret events. >> and you also have to have an action plan. i would think. right. >> yes. and we kind ofked about this last having a plan. a lot of people feel stressed because they feel like their life is going nowhere. so you have to have a plan and set up something that's very specific and have a goal and just having a goal is going to. >> make you feel better. that's like you're more empowered. you have more control over your life. so

said the plan and make make those steps very small and doable. >> and the last bullet point that we want to talk about taking care of ourselves, taking care adding some healthy habits to our life. >> yes, the exercise nutrition. if you those are the and getting enough sleep to those are the things that are going to energize you. and when you're energized here also, can you feel more positive about life and about your that the situation's so. >> very important to you. it a lot of those things always talked about, you know, the sugars in the salt. yeah. that's it. and get moderate intensity exercise in every day. those are the things that are going to keep you healthy and happy. it's going to release those happy hormones remember that? speaking of happy hormones, i know that you have a very special birthday wish that you want to put out there. >> yes, we have a happy

san francisco. it happened to the area of el camino real and westboro police say the suspects approached a 47 year-old man who was standing on the side of the road with his electric scooter at the time. the suspects asked the man if you needed help and then suddenly took his backpack wallet and cell phone suspects, then left the scene in the 3 series bmw with an unknown license plate. they're described as a white man in 2 white women in their 20's. now to the south bay this morning we're san jose. police are investigating the city's 14th homicide of the year. take a look at this video from the citizen app. it's of a big police response at the scene. the shooting happened at an off campus student apartment building near san jose state university on the san carlos street police tell us a man was killed in the shooting. now they have no information or released. no information on a suspect nor they made any arrests thus far. but be sure to keep you updated. >> in the east bay now pleasanton police arrested a

checking the progress of that. most of the heavy activity is to the south now and given eisele drink there to the south bay there. again, that line notice to the north. that's the front we're waiting for that drop south. but right now and the santa clara valley. looks like we're getting some activity there as we watch rainfall putting us into motion. you'll see where the line is up to the north and that will bring in some winds with its passage and might even see the skies open up a little bit later tonight. now watch the fog through all of this. usually that mixes out. but on a rainy day, it's hard to do so. it redevelops, as you will notice down south along the peninsula coast, although has trouble getting into the santa clara valley for the winds. we have a pretty much on shore as they will be. but they're out of the south because that's prefrontal. the front will shift that more to favoring a westerly pattern breaking it down today. cloudy showers some more showers as what we've got. not a lot quantitatively maybe about a quarter of an inch. if you're lucky, temperatures will pretty much range in the middle 50's coming up in a bit here. we'll take a look at what the week day forecast looks like in the 4 zone as well martin. well.

celebrating earth week by drawing attention to some of the biggest environmental challenges in the bay area. and we want to wrap things up today by focusing on the massive california native too-lee elk the annual census count found about 152 living on point reyes national seashore and they've died likely due to drought conditions. >> kron four's, gayle ong reports that the situation is causing controversy over their habitat. >> here at point reyes national seashore animal advocates worry about they are a symbol of this area and an amazing conservation success. yet right behind this fence. >> 152 animals were allowed to die during drought. >> a wildlife photographer found carcasses of throughout the reserve, the photos taken in the summer of last year. are in counties driest year in 90 years with only receiving 20 inches of rain in 2020. the
