>> from the bay area's local news station. you're watching the 4 morning news at 7. >> good morning, everybody. thank you so much for joining us on the kron 4 morning news. i'm marty gonzalez. and i'm noelle bellow. it is may first. if you're a daily's and and we started off pretty foggy today. i'm kind curious what the other parts of the bay look like aside from the city here. dave spahr has got a look at your forecast today. >> hey, good morning, marty well, good morning. everybody. and kind of got off to a cool start as well as well, too. and we'll be looking for some afternoon. winds are kind of typical, but that fog is going to cover good chunk of the bay. it looks like to the morning hours yet we'll get some clearing except at the

coast yet to be slow, going to get some clearing there. there's the shot from the golden gate. you can see from comparison sake. not bad because that using a fog trap. but just to remind you of the east bay shoreline is all kind of cloud up here with this fog. it's going to take it again. a couple of hours to kind of lift off until worst pretty much saying goodbye to it. temperatures are still remain warm and those inland valleys. but chilly at the coast today to come to get those winds cooking. here is the fog. i want to mention particularly hovering half moon bay. and you can see the peninsula. santa cruz mountains as latest 1230's are still fighting the fog as far as what happens afterwards. we have a fire weather watch at this point covering solano county that will be in effect from sunday to tuesday. got to watch and see if that becomes a red flag warning winds will be driving that really later in the forecast period right now. we've got those middle 50's to lower 50's lining up the east bay shoreline 40's up to the north bay. 54 san francisco for today. again, turning sunny to cut those inland areas breezy for the

afternoon. temperatures generally speaking in the 70's and we'll see a couple 80's happening in the morning forecast in a bit. >> we have to ask the question when we have such a lackadaisical response from elected officials regarding the death of a human being. does black life really matter to them. >> a call for transparency in daly city following the police killing of roger allen. the 44 year-old black man was shot earlier this month during what investigators say was a struggle over a bb gun. and this morning allen's family and friends are continuing to demand more transparency and accountability. kron four's dan thorn explains. >> a mural for roger allen. still stands 3 weeks after he was shot and killed by daly city police. the 44 year-old was in the passenger seat of a truck parked on ny antic avenue on the afternoon of april 7th. he later died after

a struggle with police. here we have yet another african-american men being killed at the hands of law enforcement. >> and we don't know exactly what. >> happened. president of the naacp san mateo branch. reverend lora owens says the account from city officials is perplexing. how did officers trying to help allen with a damaged tire turned into a struggle over a fake gun and end with allen being killed so far there's been no video recovered of the shooting or what happened before it daly city police are also not equipped with body-worn cameras budgets are a selection of values and any agency via public or private. this is we don't have the money. >> that's not necessarily true. you have the money. the question is what do you choose to do with it after initially refusing to release the names of the officers involved. the city revealed them thursday as lieutenant michael brennan. >> and officers rosa breen's

nicholas mccarthy and cameron newton officials did not say who fired their gun but did say it was discharged because allen pointed the fake gun at one of the officers without any video. reverend owens is skeptical of the investigation and says the city needs to be more transparent. >> we have to ask the question when we have such a lackadaisical response from elected officials regarding the death of a human being. does black life. >> really matter to them reporting in daly city. dan thorn kron 4 news. >> well, now in the east bay in alameda. there's still a lot of questions surrounding the death of 24 your 26 year-old mario gonzalez, who died in police custody last week on friday high school students joining city leaders for a virtual town hall meeting focused on how alameda pd responded to that. 911, call. some students questioned why a mental health team wasn't called out for mario

instead of officers. city officials chose not to respond to questions about the case directly because it's still under investigation. but police captain matt mcmullen did say a mental health team usually heads to scenes like these when they have more time. >> how should we build trust with the in this moment in time has policing. this definitely being questioned at this moment. officers are trained in identifying mental health crisis is. >> through crisis intervention training we have been participating, i believe since 2000, 15. >> we'll still the young people say the police department needs more accountability. the mayor says the city council will study several reform proposals at a special meeting next week. >> also in the east bay families in san ramon say they are shocked and outraged after learning about racist and homophobic stickers that were found on the cow high school campus last month and they were only informed about it. thursday night. the administration responded to

the incident and the delayed announcement saying, quote, it is deeply disappointing. this kind of behavior continues to take place on the cow high campus. they say it was a mistake not to communicate about the incident as soon as it happened and they are deeply sorry. so far authorities have not been able to identify the 2 individuals involved in the incident. >> well, today is may day or international workers day and oakland police have put out a warning to demonstrators. opd says they are aware of peaceful demonstrations. celebrating may day. but the department will off having more officers on duty just in case those demonstrations turned violent police are also warning some streets may be closed because of the demonstrations and they warn drivers of possible delays on the bay bridge. >> well, coming up here on the kron 00:00am morning news after more than a year of responding to a pandemic. kaiser is planning to lay off hundreds of workers. we do have a live report with the

happening today, thousands of inmates in california. >> could be getting out of prison early the state is increasing early release credits for 76,000 inmates today. the good behavior credits will shorten their sentences by one 3rd instead of one 5th, most of those affected have been convicted of violent crimes and more than one 3rd are supposed to be serving life sentences with the possibility of parole. >> we want to keep everybody safe. we want to make sure that the fda to not pass. >> asian-american elected officials and business leaders join together in oakland to oppose a proposed state law that would robbery cases from a felony to a misdemeanor. the president of the oakland chinatown chamber of commerce. karl chan was joined by about 100 people who are opposed to the bill. this comes one day after chan was attacked as he walked through chinatown leaders say that if it's

passed, local communities will be at risk once again. >> protecting law abiding citizen has to be a top priority for all the legislators. at a time when we have so many highly visible and notorious cases. people protection but not mask. >> the bill by berkeley senator nancy skinner would change. robberies were less than $950 were stolen. no weapons involved nor serious injuries caused from felonies to misdemeanors a pointer appointments are opponents point out that many of those crimes still involved. violent attacks while supporters claim there are simply too many people doing time for relatively minor offenses. dave. >> okay. quite a bit of a fog around the bay that we're dealing with this morning. that will break up into the afternoon to watch out. it's kind of breezy and their water will be chilly today. look at your forecast coming up in just a bit.

already seen extremely dry conditions. so now crews are anticipating increase in fire danger. kron four's. gayle ong has more now from the oakland hills. >> firefighters say now is the time to prepare for wildfire season. but people who live here out on the fire zone are already on it. >> we have our go bags ready and you know, for it me that this is the route to get out of aaron bard's neighborhood. a narrow winding road. his home surrounded by mountainous terrain deep in the oakland hills. >> there's been a couple of scares last fire season. there are some small brush fires nearby partners or risk living in the wild land. urban interface. he bought his home years after the fatal 1991 tunnel fire in the open in berkeley hills that spread to homes. >> can firefighters are bracing for an early fire season would recent changes in weather patterns causing drought conditions, wild land fire season will begin monday may 3rd crews have been battling fires throughout the state and are anticipating

another long fire season martin as neighbors work together to clear brush and any potential fuel. we do it as often as we we try to be responsible about it. >> you know, at least a few times a year. we do a major clearing where we cut the grass down and we clear branches and b prune trees and make sure that everything's in compliance. >> the oakland fire department plans to staff up and patrol neighborhoods. 24 hours a day during red flag warning events here in oakland, gayle ong kron 4 news. >> we have just turn the page into may. and we're talking fire danger. i know i was going to say, you know, the sun is out today, which we would like to see the sun a little bit. we really, really need some rain date. is there any rain in this forecast. no, there's not. the only thing we're getting this morning is a little bit the way that fog it's going to cover over the bay. it looks like throughout the morning hours, it will mix out into the afternoon. but dry will be in its wake. we do have an onshore wind that's working here this afternoon. but come later, that will boy be a little bit more offshore

and solano county. they're the ones really looking at program. it's a sunday through tuesday like situation time. kurt, is what we're looking at right now to get things started again. there's that fog covering up good chunk of the east bay shoreline. for now it's going to take in just about all morning to do so to mix out. we have kind of a front that kind of just tap to tiptoed across our region overnight leaving us essentially with clear skies aloft. once we take care of this marine layer watching this ca cloud sector in a motion shows how along the coast a war remain pretty foggy, maybe even perhaps some coastal drizzle along the peninsula as a possibility note, the mountains. not too much happens overnight, but by tomorrow with daytime heating like it's some showers going on there a little bit. of course, that will be out direction clear our way as we set up for a little mini heat wave coming our way by monday here. the onshore winds checking in now in solano county, briefly come off shore just a little bit tomorrow morning, temporarily before shifting back more on shore come sunday night. that's we go into that fire weather

watch in solano county that will be with us around until tuesday. temperatures are very interesting over the next about 72 hours, mostly sunny cool fog at the coast. there might be a couple of 80's going on inland. but that's about it. everybody's 70's and it's going to struggle to make it to the 60's. we'll see more of that at the coast tomorrow warming up a little bit more. so tomorrow got more 80's covering over the real estate. but then by monday we're talking popping into the 90's potentially going on the far east bay locations, particularly and the contra costa county. so little nice quick warm up. happening a little heat spike our way. so we have this front again to cross last night. we'll have the on shore winds going on today. kind of suppressing temperatures really strengthening up that marine layer. and that's what we're seeing today going on around the basics to san francisco 68 for oakland 70. meanwhile, for san jose. and this tells the whole story. we got the green on the peninsula and around the bay. keeping those relatively chilly 60's at the bay chilly cold 50's at the coast. but inland upper 70's

conducted an operation that killed osama bin laden. leader of al qaeda. >> hard to believe that this weekend marks 10 years since osama bin laden, the terrorist mastermind behind the september 11th terrorist attacks was killed in a targeted operation by us navy seals. it was a significant step in the nation's fight against al qaeda. president barack obama announced the news in a televised address to americans. it was years in the making. an admission that turned into america's longest war. and now 2 decades later the u.s. and nato have begun their final withdrawal from afghanistan ending. america's longest war after nearly 20 years in mid april, president joe biden had announced the final withdrawal would begin today may 1st the last couple 1000 u.s. troops at about 7 allied forces. we'll all be gone by september 11th at the latest, although western diplomats in kabul say july. 4th is the goal.

>> 7.30 on what's of foggy morning in some spots. all the usual places pretty much fog in around the bay area. exactly. but there is going to be a little bit of sunshine. it's going to warm up for some folks here in the bay area. dave spahr has got all the details for you okay. noel mardy, good morning and good morning, everybody. we're already seeing some improvements happening a little bit around parts of the bay is the fog lifts the really problematic areas are going to be at the coast, though production basically in some spots may be kind of overcast just about all day today. >> and that will have a cooling effect on those temperatures as we expected as well. big changes happening in later on. how are we get to monday, though. big temperature pop here as you can see the progress a little bit to the east bay shoreline. if you look at the very top of your screen. some blues trying to filter in there. and you can see some mixing out happening at the ground level in the lower right-hand side.

so there is some progress being made here and you'll see the problem areas will remain at the coast, though, for today. so kind of overcast. it looks like along the peninsula coast down to half moon bay. little bit of that onshore wind. we'll check in later on today. you can see how breezy it isn't. well, inland areas and certainly around water temperature checked wear in the 50's over good piece of real estate. for now. already 62 off the antioch 40's. meanwhile, up to the north bay. and here slow clearing happening at the bay bridge toll plaza. we expect this to clear out, though, in a couple of hours, 64 by 11 by 2 turning breezy. that will be on shore. thank you. at about 71, however, little bit of an offshore wind started to develop in the solano county fire weather watch and we'll have a course that 4 zone forecast coming up in a bit. morning. sounds good. dave, thank you the big story we're following this saturday morning. >> kaiser is planning to lay off hundreds of workers amid the pandemic hard to believe really kron four's camila barco joins us live now from walnut creek with the very latest camila. >> yeah. good morning. you guys the union that represents

the health care workers affected by these layoffs have sent us an e-mail and they confirmed the news to kron 4 brett knese saldana the press secretary tells us that more than 200 health care workers. the company plans to eliminate more than to help 200 health care workers across northern california. so danya calls this unacceptable by kaiser considering the fact that they made more than 6 billion dollars last year. now some health care workers affected include employees to admit patients into the hospital. there's also the workers who helped transport people to the right place for care. and then there's patient care technicians. they are the ones who take care of people when they are in the hospital beds. so donna says that there's also more employees and other departments that will be affected. that's not exactly sure where where these employees that will be affected are located, but we have reached out to kaiser for more information. however, we have not heard back. well, marty, back to you. camila

welcome back. in the north bay, a retired sandra phil. >> fire. captain is celebrating his one 100th birthday with a downtown drive-by parade taking place later today. i'd say he deserves that years-old kron four's maureen kelly caught up with him to see how he was preparing for the big day and to get his advice for longevity. john diego sits with his youngest and only surviving sister who came up from orange county. >> to help celebrate his one 100th birthday i never thought i did 50 for having made it through 10 decades. he's relentlessly positive. his favorite word super. he keeping busy for a man of his advanced years. the world war

2 vet spent 35 years in the sandra fell fire department i like everything also got his contractor's license building his house as well as so many in marin county. he's lost count. he used those building skills volunteering to help remodel his city's mission. he is late wife of 50 plus years. raised 7 kids. 3 of his 18 grandkids followed him into the fire department. here's his wood shop jammed with tools. his yard is full of his current handiwork. a lawn chair, a model of the golden gate bridge and lots of bird houses which he happily gives away. gee, i don't know. i always like to work with my hands. he lives with his youngest daughter who believes his keeping busy is what's keeping him in their lives. this long he loves to give everything to people who work for people from a voluntary. and then yeah, you know, i think that makes happy there. >> i asked for his advice about how to make it to 100. i think you're doing great. doing super. i think you make it. maureen. k

>> well, the severity of the drought here in the bay, area's very easy to see, especially in the south while a few reservoirs are in good shape. others really are not kron four's. rob fladeboe takes a look at reservoir levels in the south bay. >> lexington and other reservoirs around the santa clara valley are mostly depended on runoff from rainfall but rainfall was well below normal last winter. so there wasn't all that much runoff lexington is about 28% full right now. together. the 10 santa clara valley reservoirs are just 16% full. >> well below their 20 year, historical average of 26%. >> reservoirs account for about half the valley's annual needs. the rest comes from groundwater reserves. they are still in pretty good shape, says valley waters, matt kalil. so that's where our storage really is here in santa clara county and right now our storage levels underground. >> or actually at normal

levels. we import about 50% of our water here to santa clara county. so we have a lot of our stores outside of the county also had a semi truck groundwater storage tank in kern county. we'll also be taking water from their looming large in a prolonged drought is the fact that anderson reservoir in morgan hill. >> larger than all other reservoirs. combine is virtually empty of just 3% of capacity. it was drained and will stay that way for 10 years. well, the dam built on an earthquake fault. undergoes a seismic retrofit on top of locations of state and federal water have also been cut back, which means valley water will soon be shopping for more. >> and so as we plan out for the rest of the year, though we need to take action. we need to go out and buy emergency water to make sure that we can meet demand here in santa clara county and keep those groundwater levels and normal levels valley waters board has thus far decided against mandatory rationing this summer. well calling instead for a goal of 25%.

>> food insecurity was a problem even before the pandemic and now a year later, those numbers are staggering. the san francisco-marin food bank expanding its warehouse to fight the growing number of people who are dealing with hunger and food insecurity. the food bank is adding an additional 23,000 square feet of their current warehouse. that expansion will allow the food bank to distribute 75 million pounds of food every year. that serves up to 200,000 people a week. the food bank says that executive director says providing a resource like this is even more important now than it's ever been. >> and now as we emerge from the pandemic, there's no there. no, i i think the san francisco-marin food bank make that we're getting food to our neighbor, taking 100 that were

like just about all day today with even some potential, some drizzle going on, but it will be a temperature suppressant. contrast that with what goes on monday. look out. temperatures are skyrocketing as we go into the afternoon, we had a front passed by basically overnight. so it's leaving us with clear skies and that onshore wind as we watch what happens. not a whole lot of future cast for noting some of that cloud cover in low lying clouds at the coast there, maybe even some drizzle and then later on as we get into sunday. we'll be curiously with some daytime heating, particularly will flare up of some showers going on in the mountains. that's a typical pattern. we tennessee particularly in the summer months with not much is going on here. we see the flare up of afternoon thunder showers in the mountains there on shore will be the rule of thumb for today. it picks up nicely. as you can see over the real estate temporarily an offshore wind develops. pretty hefty appear to solano county. it will be interrupted by an onshore wind. but by this time on sundays, you can see this will be in a fire weather. watch. so we will see later if that gets upgraded to a red

wise need the short sleeved shirts and shorts part. thanks a lot. let's get to a big story we're following this morning kaiser's planning to lay off hundreds of workers amid the pandemic kind of shocking really kron four's camila barco is live in walnut creek with the very latest on these layoffs. camila. >> r d. so at this time we have not heard from kaiser but the union that represents these health care workers that are potentially going to be laid off from from the news to was reni saldana the union press secretary tells kron 4 that the company plans to eliminate more than 200 health care workers across northern california. >> saldana calls this an acceptable by kaiser considering the fact that they made more than 6 billion dollars last year. now some of these health care workers that will be affected include employees who admitted patients into the hospital. there's also the workers who helped transport people to the right place for care and patient care technicians there. they want to take care of people when they are in the

the 10 santa clara valley reservoirs or just 16% fall. hard to believe this time of year. that's still well below their 20 year historical average of 26%. >> reza pours all told account for about half of the valley's annual needs and the rest comes from ground water supplies in the south bay. but despite the ongoing drought. officials say that they're still in pretty good shape right now. that's where or storage really is here in santa clara county and right now our stores levels underground. >> or actually at normal levels. we import about 50% of our water here to santa clara county. so we have a lot of our stores outside of the county also have a semi truck groundwater storage tank in kern county. we'll also be taking water from there. >> we've got quite the plan there for now. valley waters board is calling for 25% voluntary conservation and recommending homeowners replace lawns with drought tolerant landscaping. so succulents little bit more popular.

station. you're watching the 4 morning news at known. >> good morning, everybody. and thank you so much for joining us on the kron 4 morning news omar gonzalez and i'm noelle bellow. it is saturday. may 1st we've made it to him in we sure did. and we were greeted with a lot of fog this morning. yeah. we sure haven't starting to lift a little bit. we'll get the latest on that from dave spahr, heidi, noel and marty, good morning. and good morning, everybody. out slow going in spots, but we are getting the sun to crack open there some locations, at least in the inland areas, you will enjoy lots of sunshine today at the coast. however, looks like that fogs in a sock in all day today. kind of overcast looks like to keep along the peninsula coast. it looks like as well. now as we get things started, here is the fog coming in from the golden gate it's kind of hovered there around there, if you will, and we see the same shot from timber on as well. you see quite a bit of fog covering things up as we venture in forward with the forecast says you can see it's very slow going around the peninsula. that's a problematic area by early afternoon. your couple some winds there that will be on shore that just keep that

marine layer fortified, but having said all that and it's it know it seems weird. we do have a fire weather watch in place. this is force level county, this kicks in sunday and that will be with us all the way to tuesday. temperature check where most of the 50's we haven't moved too much. santa rosa is now up to 56 64 going on for any 52 off towards half moon bay breezy. it says for the afternoon it looks like temperatures manage into the 70's, although some inland areas into the 80's. in fact, in solano county it's going sting 4 zone forecast which will have for you and also check in at that extended to martina. well, all right, dave, thanks a lot. we begin this hour with breaking news from overnight. the chp investigating a shooting on highway 4 in pittsburgh. >> it's the second shooting on that highway in less than 24 hours. this one happening in the westbound lanes at the daily road. exit chp says it looks like the car. >> was being shot at from both sides. the driver's side windows had several bullet holes and in the passenger's door on the other side had an

additional 5 in tree holes in it. the driver was hispanic and believed to be in his 20's. that victim was taken to the hospital. so far no arrests have been made. the shooting happened just one exit from a shooting that took place thursday night at the railroad. >> eastbound exit on highway 4 during that shooting. a man was shot in the neck and that caused him to crash into that big rig that you see there. the victim is also in his 20's is recovering. the john muir hospital in walnut creek and is expected to survive. officers are asking for any tips that you may have on the shooter. >> we have to ask the question when we have such a lackadaisical response from elected officials regarding the death of a human being. does black life really matter to them. >> a call for transparency in daly city following the police killing of roger allen. >> the 44 year-old black man

>> welcome back. happening today, thousands of inmates in california could be getting out of prison early. the state is increasing early release credits for 76,000 inmates today. the good behavior credits are going to shorten their sentences by one 3rd instead of one 5th. most of those affected have been convicted of violent crimes and more than one 3rd are serving life sentences with the possibility of parole. we want to keep everybody safe.

fog mixing out just a little bit. as you can see, the shot from timber on. that's the sign of things to come. however, at the coast. those fog clouds, they're going to be so basically overcast if you're headed towards the peninsula coast, particularly and that will be couple with a good, strong onshore winds. so it's going to feel a little bit like winter almost. meanwhile in places like inland, solano county, those temperatures are going to be pushing not just today but for the next couple of days as you slip into little flavor of summer. here's the frontal system that already passed it's leaving behind a least a lot clear skies. and as we handed over to the models noticing maybe some drizzle going on at the coast to kind of take care of all this marine layer. it's going take a little while before that all clears out. what's interesting is up in the mountains. we see a little flare up with the daytime heating tomorrow in the afternoon. maybe some showers going on there. that's somewhat typical in the summer months when it's very quiet here and we basically have a high overhead. some of that lifting can occurred near the mountain range there and deliver some showers on shore is what we expected the day

today. we get into tomorrow. a little bit of a temporary offshore flow up the solano county interrupted by continuation of that on shore in the afternoon. still, though, they do have a fire weather watch in solano county starting tomorrow morning through tuesday that usually upgraded to a red flag warning. we'll see what happens later on today. we have the shot from temper on here. east bay shoreline think it is. yes, but it's being covered up a little bit by the leftover fog still has lifted here for today. we've got mostly sunny cool fog at the coast and portions of the bay early this morning. still a few 80's are to be had. and i'll show you that later on as we get to the 4 zone. but 60's of the coast tomorrow, sunny warmer. they'll be more 80's. so they'll be spread out a little bit around the east bay a touch, better coastal clearing as well. but still hanging in the 60's. so bit on the cooler side and those onshore winds will return tomorrow afternoon, too. this week warming up inland. we're going to race to about 90 going on. that's a target temperature for monday. that will relax a little bit as we get to the remainder of the

the victim also in his 20's is recovering this morning and john muir hospitals expected to survive. officers are asking for any tips you may have on the shooter. let's get to another big story we're following this saturday morning as kaiser's planning to lay off hundreds of workers amid the pandemic. that's right. kron four's camila barco joining us live now from walnut creek with the very latest on this camila. >> the annual mardi the union that represents these health care workers has confirmed the news to us but has right now we have not heard from kaiser. the unions press secretary renee saldana tells tells us that the company is looking at to eliminate more than 200 health care workers across northern california saldana calls this an acceptable by kaiser considering the fact that they made more than 6 billion dollars last year. now some of these health care workers that will be affected are in non-clinical positions in these include employees to admit patients into the

first time since the vaccine rollout kron four's michelle kingston has more from the new vaccination site in concord where there's a new effort to get more people vaccinated. >> now. very easy. you know, we have to fall in line. >> a new vaccination site has opened up in concord. it's near the monument corridor. a neighborhood county officials say has been heavily impacted by the pandemic. it's a dense community. populated largely by latino residents and businesses. this clinic just opened on thursday. it's located at 1034 oak grove road in concord. they can provide as many as 500 vaccines a day to anyone, 16 or older. >> who lives or works in contra, costa county it like we're protected and you just perfect. >> contra costa county's vaccination rate is among the highest in the state with more than 1 million vaccines already distributed and about 70% of the counties. eligible population having already received at least one dose of the vaccine. but this is the first week that the county has

you. food insecurity was a problem even before the pandemic and now a year later, the numbers are just staggering. >> the san francisco marin food bank is expanding its warehouse to fight the growing number of people who are dealing with hunger and food insecurity. the food bank is adding 23,000 square feet of their current warehouse that expansion will allow the food bank to distribute 75 million pounds of food a year that served and serving up about 200,000 people a week. the food banks that executive director says providing a resource like this is even more important now than it's ever been. >> and now as we emerge from the pandemic, there's no vaccine longer. so if i think the campus government, the bank, make that we're getting food to our neighbors. they can 100 that were working with that community. make sure that we've got the capacity in the coalition and that we're fighting make there. we've got the right policies in place that we can work. what the one thing we can. and right now more than ever before. we've

relentlessly positive. his favorite word super. he keeping busy for a man of his advanced years. the world war 2 vet spent 35 years in the sandra fell fire department i like everything about it and also got his contractor's license building his house as well as so many in marin county. he's lost count. he used those building skills volunteering to help remodel his city's mission. he is late wife of 50 plus years. raised 7 kids. 3 of his 18 grandkids followed him into the fire department. here's his wood shop. jammed with tools. his yard is full of his current handiwork. a lawn chair, a model of the golden gate bridge and lots of bird houses which he happily gives away. i always like to work with my hands. he lives with his youngest daughter who believes his keeping busy is what's keeping him in their lives. this long he loves to give everything to people who work for people from a voluntary. and then yeah, you know, i think that makes some real happy where i asked for his advice about how to make it to 100. i think you're doing

to serve as a scout for its companion rover while also trying to fly through some rougher parts of the planet. both the helicopter and the rover are moving to a new area to focus on collecting rock samples. so i'm sure we'll see more videos to come here from that one back here on earth, though, the monterey bay aquarium is welcoming back members today after closing down for more than a year due to the pandemic. the aquarium is going to open to all visitors may 15th. but those who have a membership can start planning their trips. now you're going to have to make a reservation in advance as there's going to be limited capacity inside the aquarium will only be open thursdays through mondays. but then after memorial day, the aquarium will resume a seven-day weekly schedule masks, of course, will be required us to kind of wander through, but very exciting. a lot of people been waiting for that one. yeah, a lot of folks have been waiting for this to disneyland now open again, the happiest place on earth. welcome back. visitors yesterday for the first time. it's been over a year.
