to feel august in the at the end of may isn't august. september time of marty, we used to get these spikes a little bit later in the season than this. you know, the unofficial start of summer. it's here and will be very official this weekend. >> you probably want to find out where the way you keep that. you beat the heat for sunday into monday because that's where you're going to need it. that's we're going to really peak. we're still dealing with the morning fog. looks like we'll do the same thing tomorrow. that's the good news. in particular talk about these fire concerns. that's kind like the wet rag a little bit on the ground just a little bit to start the day. we'll take it. but that's all the help we're going to get and certainly the temperatures are going to be climbing big time as well the golden gate as well. we can see some of the brightness off towards the east bay a little bit. so back to that excessive heat warning and heat advisory. the oranges cover, the advisory zone over the east bay hills. but make no mistake about it. i know the peninsula is not technically it in any of this, but it's going to be plenty warm. when you get down south santa clara valley. it's going to be pretty toasty as well.

and then as you can see, even up here to the north bay. the coastal areas. technically not in this and solano county. you have an excessive heat warning monday and tuesday. that's what the tuesday is up there for you, temperatures. now we're in the lower 50's lining up the east bay shoreline again, kind of a typical start mild. in fact, 60 going on in iraq. 48 santa rosa and we've got some 50's again down to the peninsula start things off. so when we get the daytime heating, we get the typical winds, the pot. these are all on shore. that's good. somewhat. usual. notice how much conversation we had 4 today and compared to tomorrow. not as active starting to be warmer happening inland. but that high is going to be turning things off a little bit as we don't get as much of an impact from that typical onshore flow and it's going to feel it, too. so it's going to be extra push on those temperatures going on tomorrow and then monday. look out for today we've got morning coastal fog and clouds mild 60's at the coast 70's bay 80's happening inland, not impossible. maybe for far inland area popping about 90, but 90's expected

for tomorrow. 100 for monday in all of this here, heat advisory for monday. but that excessive heat warning solano county. you're in that until tuesday next week. it's a hot start. very warm. still inland. so for a lot of the bay will happen is by tuesday. we're sliding real quickly back to somewhat close to average but well, inland, those temperatures are loing to hold well in the 90's and even upper 80's to the end of the week. we're turning cool. by the way, at the coast. so we'll return. actually the 60's by the end of the week. but we're going to pop again sunday, monday a little bit on tuesday. 61 san francisco 66 for oakland 73 san jose. she's just some oranges and yellows today. that's nothing compared to what's happening. we get blood red later, 84 santa rosa 82 antioch. 78 going on for concord. little bit of that cool breeze coming in helping out and along the peninsula. look at that lower 70's. that's almost pathetic. what we're going to have the 4 zone forecast for you. look at that extended coming up in a bit. marty be pulling out a red trails for tomorrow. thank

>> happening now. firefighters are preparing for potentially busy memorial day weekend as this hot weather combined with exceptional drought conditions makes for a potentially dangerous combination. kron four's amanda hari reports from contra, costa county where officials there are urging everyone to stay alert and prepared. >> firefighters say the hillsides are much broader than they usually are this time of year. and if you look behind me, you can see exactly what that means, just how dry everything looks. and i have a bit of the vegetation from up there. and i want to illustrate just how dry this is. if i try to bend it, it just snaps right in half.
8:15 am
firefighters are worried about stuff like this catching fire and it's spreading quickly conditions are exceptionally dry and they have been for week after week after week there's really been no precipitation. >> for months now. steve hill with contra costa county fire says it's dry as it usually gets in july or august. >> but he says the fire department is prepared. they have a helicopter with aerial firefighting capabilities and specific fire control workers, but he says they're not the only ones that need to prepare. >> so we planned all year and we ask that our plan to protect help protect themselves as well. he says residents are the real first responders. they can prepare their property before a fire even begins. >> contra. costa county has a resident's guide to wildfires online. >> it details how to prepare your property. phil says awareness and prevention can make a big difference. it's all of our fires, not just here in contra, costa but

8:17 am
forecast yeah, we're turning up the heat starting tomorrow morning. the only kind of solace with all of this is we will have the return of the fog a little bit tomorrow cpmorning. but that's cools us off overnight and if you're along the bay shoreline, at least you can open up the windows at night. you'll get some early sunday night as well but not as much as tonight. and beyond that point, though, it's going to be hot through all of this, too can escape that factor. so we do have, again, the fog in san francisco as we can see there, golden gate bridge checking in with fog as well. we'll see some light off towards the corner there. the sun rising over the east bay. but back to the excessive heat. it's going to be with us heat advisory inland areas in the east bay in the north bay. technically the peninsula peninsula. not in this in the santa clara valley. but it will be plenty hot anyway. and excessive heat warning for solano county that's monday and tuesday that will be extended a little bit there for you. we've got temperatures in the 50's everywhere except antioch at 62 at this hour. oh, yeah. the coastal be nice to escape to doing all of this. but a little warming up happening, then to will be back in the lower 70's making it feel
8:18 am
every bit like summer. so look at the onshore winds. they pick up a bit. this is typical. we get the inland heating rawls and the winds from the coast. okay. so tomorrow it should be really breezy going on with all of that. well, we have an avenue or afternoon breeze, but nothing greater dramatic with that. and it will be warmer as that high takes hold and really controls the atmosphere stopped the mixing process. so therefore you can get better heating happening inland because you don't have the interruption of winds as intense as we may see for today, mixing is the name of the game here. so the air just kind of stays there and you get into the sultry summer like days so break it all down to you today. today we got morning fog in clouds mild today. 60's coast 70's around the bay 80's happening in letters general rule. we start warming up tomorrow. now 90's already tomorrow. 100 monday. this will be all inland now heat advisory goes into effect. and then for next week it's a hot start. very warm in lynn remains for the whole week. however returning to
