>> just about to be 7.16 here on this sunday morning. it's time for another check of your weather forecast. dave spahr given us a closer look today. hey, dave. >> hey, good morning. well, good morning, everybody. and our fog is back again with the overcast skies as you can see in places like the coast and around the bay and the bridges and so forth deal of a lot of morning fog one on. we've had a very strong wind that's at work to we felt a little bit around the delta with those winds whipping in there in the teens or 2020's and approaching about 30 or so pushing that marine layer off and to the sacramento valley a little bit. all right. so we have some changes over about the next 48 hours as we advance to this entire program here. so we'll get a load of what we're talking about. what this here's the golden gate bridge for you. and again, a lot of fog. it's covering up the bridge. this will mix out will be left with a few
7:17 am
scattered clouds. we're talking about shaving those temperatures just a little bit around the immediate pay temperature check. we've got some 60's off to the east bay are ready. but mostly it's a 50 story this morning. those winds again making note of that kind of collecting their around the delta. nice breeze going on in the 20 to 30 miles per hour range. where's the monsoon there? it is all bottled up in terms of southern arizona in southern california a bit. some of that is making the long tour all the way out to sea. as you can see, making its way to northern california. that way. but let's go to future cast for for today. we clear out the fog. we're left with a couple scattered clouds and all sure that might be part of the monsoon as well. and there's the rain up in the sierra. that's pretty much about it overnight tomorrow morning. we're back. the same program again about 1115 or so. this gives you general idea as we approach the noon hour start to get some daytime heating. we start to see a little bit of action off their the mountains and then it kind of goes away. continues overnight till tuesday and this is when the atmosphere has the least amount of energy in it. but we do have some clusters of some rain showers that do appear there's no
7:18 am
telling what's going to make it to the ground here. but this may have with that strikes of lightning that are not in the same location as the rain is at the same time that the rain is actually happening. so that's what's posing the danger with all of this. no statements about any of this yet. but we're on the lookout for that possibility there. so just because it's such a tender box situation. the kind of monitoring this to see what goes forward now for today. early fog, no kidding. it breaks and gives way to scattered clouds. warm inland now. still mild for the bay tomorrow. scattered clouds. we walk through that rain shower. isolated thunder shower late into tomorrow morning or tuesday morning rather, then for this week, a little muggy early warming up and it looks another heat spike happening late in the week. this heat spike will not be every inland area. however, it looks like it looks like it's going to favor the east bay much more so 64 san francisco today. 70 for oakland 79 san jose. across the wider bay. we still have a couple 90's hanging on livermore antioch. there. a

lot of 80's to up in the north bay. look at that. santa rose only about 8077 1 on for now. but we'll have more on your 4 zone forecast in a bit. >> for your health this morning. many people trying to lose weight before a vacation. it's only normal. but then they end up going overboard while their study actually found adults, average age of 32 gained one to 7 pounds while on a one to 3 week vacation. so before you go out there and end up with several extra pounds on your next trip. our health expert walk is here with some helpful tips to get us to stay on track. karen, i'm so afraid that this me for but what's interesting is you say that it is the diet before the vacation. that's kind of the problem. >> right. diets are are the perfect way to gain weight that's that's what i say about diet in general. so when you
7:20 am
go on a diet, often people want to look good. feel good before they they cation. so they go on a diet to lose and x amount of pounds in and time and a lot of times these diets require you to deprive yourself and and once you go off those diets, you do just the opposite when you're off, you decide what i'm going to overindulge and it's just a matter of your physiology it gets your body, your brain saying i was deprived all this time. now i want to eat. the second problem is that. when you lose weight and especially quickly you lose. 25%. a 25% of that weight that you lose is muscle mass. so if you lose that muscle mass and then go on vacation gain weight. you end up fatter than you were star. yes. so also your metabolism is slower. it's going to be easy to gain
7:21 am
weight back and it's going to be harder to lose my goodness. okay. so what should we be doing. i we've got to maintain our way to in a healthy way. so what's the first step here. >> first of all, don't stress and don't over because first of all, vacations other perfect way to actually lose weight because you're relaxed. when you're stressed, that's when you start to eat emotionally and tend to overeat and eat mindlessly. so relax don't stress over every little calorie everything that you're eating because that's just going to create more havoc and you're not going to be able to relax and have a good time. >> i see walking is also really good one. while you're on vacation. i know that's one of my favorite activities. >> yeah. and and you can even go make walking the the central part of your vacation.
7:22 am
yes, some people go on walking tours. i know some of that walking tour companies are not operating right now, but you can create your own walking tour. and it could be as strenuous as you feel is appropriate for u k. >> also was scheduling are doing an express work out. i think that's something i always like to say, you know, i'm going on vacation go to work out. doing some sort of express work out. what are those? so an express workout is actually just so real quick, higher intensity workout. 30 minutes and this would be maybe a 8 minute warm up and then. >> some strength exercises a circuit of exercises. so this would be very it's constantly constantly moving for the full 30 minutes. so you get a really good workout and. >> a lot of people find that once they do these 30 minute
7:23 am
workouts. they really like it and that they want to continue with it after the vacation. i've started to do those little 30 minute 25 minute workouts. they really do the go by quickly and and you really do feel a difference afterwards. that's a really good. >> option there also, you know, active outing say like kayaking, things like that. oh, yeah. kayaking, especially if you have kids with you, you making sure they have a good time and they they're active in moving. so by keying an. >> hiking and the kayaking snorkeling, all those things are really good. even throwing a frisbee around and going ball around when there they're the you know, at that quiet time. >> i know shopping is definitely one. a lot of people really love to shop. but i this other tip that you have here drinking less alcohol and more water. that's a pretty good key. bright. so in that steady that you mentioned in the open. a lot of the weight came from drinking excess alcohol.
7:24 am
>> so you really want to keep that to a minimum. some of you know, those fruity slushy drinks there as much as 500 calories a piece. so if you join one of those every day. definitely gain weight. and and also drink more water because a lot of things that you're doing it. you're hiking out on the hot beach. you're going to get dehydrated and your brain also confuses thirst with hunger. so make sure you're always hydrated while and speaking of hunger, eating mindfully is coming your last tip here. yeah, right. make smart choices. don't eat the donut from that. the 7.11 make sure that, you know, you can indulge in dealt those calories for the things that are really delicious and things that you don't normally you know that while you're on vacation and then also really take note of how you're feeling. you know, be mindful
7:25 am
and whether you're fuller years satisfied trying to stay. it's you know, time to say status side and light versus stuff. >> and i mean, i think that that big take away is relaxing and not stressing yourself out over. you know what you're eating, what you're drinking that sort of thing. just kind of enjoy yourself and you'll probably not over that will allow you to not over eat and not over drink right. definitely, definitely enjoy your vacation. all right, karen, thank you so much for all your temps. always appreciate it. you're welcome. we'll see you next week. we'll be right back. okay. but by [hippo groans melodically] [iguana belts major 3rd]

7:32 am
48 hours or so for some months soon to develop. i know this is strange. talk about monsoon. this is a different type of air this is the cold day up air mass that we typically have with the fog coming in the morning. it doesn't have a lot of energy with that. that's good moisture that be great and nice going stratus rain. but this is the east bay shoreline. as you can see, that fog will mix out too kind of scattered clouds going on for today. a little bit. that monsoon trying to sneak in. as you can see thing you re just right up top of the san francisco text as you can see, the deeper moisture, obviously to the south upstream. the models are saying we'll get some of that activity later on. we've got upper 50's right now along the east bay 66 for antioch. it's come the outline or elsewhere. it's still pretty much in the 50's get the sun will be time to do its thing. there's some winds happening around the delta, though, you can see caught by some of it. a good strong onshore wind that's at work. the breakdown for 7711 by 2 were at 88 with again, some afternoon scattered clouds at work here. we'll see

you don't want see, you know, hsa. what that means basically is now now whether you're vaccinated, you're not vaccinated. you have to wear. >> ask san mateo county supervisor david canepa says 89% of eligible county residents are fully vaccinated, but the increase of covid cases is a sign the pandemic is still here. we're trying to find a place where we're able to protect our employees protect the the public and really sort of. you know, look at the data and the science. what you know, what are we seeing. so 2 weeks ago we've seen just nearly a double in cases. san mateo county is one of the 7 bay area counties. recommending mask, use indoors. according to a new poll conducted by inside california politics and emerson college. >> californians are split on a potential statewide indoor mask mandate. we surveyed more than 1000 california voters this week, 49% said they would
