get a little bit of rain in the back side of that, you get a bit of offshore wind. and when you have a substantial rain, not much of a problem. we have it and it's been so dry for so long and this is kind of a. nonsense type. a little spritz will type of rain only plus you can get from this is a little bit of moisture up at the surface. yeah, we're getting that we're not getting that much inland or where the problems are. a look at half moon bay as we start the day some leftover scattered clouds skies will open up, but in the wake of this rain. make no mistake about it, it will be chilly. there's the golden gate for you as we see a little fog return a bit mid-fifties line up the east bay shoreline to the east lower 50's that that we have some chilly 40's up to the north bay. don't forget there. the other side of that front. we'll actually see the winds pick up a little bit later on for right now in the single digits across most of the real estate. so watching this into motion. the leftover rain get shoved aside. we're basically mostly sunny for the today. mostly clear in tonight will return a fog couple scattered clouds going on there for tomorrow. and then the winds start picking up tomorrow afternoon evening

officials are lifting their indoor mask mandate next friday. this applies to gyms offices. college classes, religious gatherings as well. but as kron four's gayle ong reports, you can not take the mask off indoors unless you're fully vaccinated. >> starting october 15 if you go to an indoor gym in marin county you may ditch the mask if you are fully vaccinated something nancy menorah's is looking forward to every time i do. the move may. it's really uncomfortable. and there's just like this press coming back at mean sometimes i'm just like, oh, my gosh. like today. i realize need to do a detox because my breath was just coming back in tip from the mask. so i'm just over it. and over the mask, marin county public health officials announced the easing of the mask mandate on friday. other indoor settings like offices college classes and religious gatherings are also exempt from the mask mandate county doctor matthew willis said that's thanks to high vaccinations. >> we also have to decide based approach towards lifting restrictions when they're no longer you know, we have a

san francisco bay ferry will also offer ferry service directly to oracle park for the giants game on saturday departures from delay oakland and alameda between 4, 4, 45 with the return. 2030 minutes after the last out advance reservations are recommended and san francisco bay ferry will have special service for fleet week specifically to peer 41, which is right in between fisherman's wharf and pier 39 saturday and sunday. there will be 7 daily trips from the ferry building to peer 41 and that fair will be free and san francisco muni will be offering additional services well for fleet week on saturday and sunday. there will be flying shuttle buses between the ferry building and fisherman's wharf. and if you're making your way to san francisco from the south bay or the peninsula. caltrain has added extra service for the giants game and saturday there will be 2 extra trains to san francisco. there will also be 2 extra post-game trains departing san francisco 1525

minutes after the last out or when they're full extra innings or not. that last train will depart san francisco at 12. oh, 05:00am there will be no extra service. after that last train. so plenty of options, if you don't want to take the chance of taking your car and getting stuck in traffic. >> in san francisco. dan kerman kron 4 news. >> and because so many people are expected to come into san francisco for fleet week. the national parks service is telling people to be prepared for parking and traffic restrictions. okay. here's what you need to know. long avenue to marine drive will be closed in order to accommodate parking for people who might need a little extra assistance. all parking at 4 point historic site will be limited to cars with valid disabled person parking placards or license plates and high street lower venice and beech street. they all will be closed.

>> and some other news. 8 people were arrested. 2 people had to be hospitalized after shots rang out during a brawl outside thursday night san jose earthquakes game at ppl park. police say the incident started inside the stadium when a fan breached the security barricades and jumped onto the field during the match attempting to attack a player. that man was taken into custody and let out of the stadium. but police say he was followed out by a group of fans who than began fighting amongst themselves shortly afterward. shots were then fired hitting 2 people. police don't believe the gun was ever inside the stadium. >> our belief is that that the fire was brought in by a vehicle in the parking lot. and then was utilized in the assault as a police department going sit down with management at the park. >> going to go through their operational plans, go through their security plans and see if their staffing needs are adequate. >> following thursday night's violence. san jose earthquakes postponed their match that was supposed to take place at papal park today until next

year. >> people who get arrested for taking part in illegal sideshows in our state will get their driver's licenses suspended for up to 6 months. these are some of the recent sideshows in the bay area shared on the citizen app this week. governor newsom signed assembly bill 3, which cracks down on illegal street racing by allowing course to suspend your license if you participate in this, the bill also assigns the first legal definition to what is a sideshow in california statute better equipping law enforcement to take action on dangerous side shows. >> in the east bay. the mother of a teen killed in a shooting in east oakland pleaded with the community in a police video to come together and find out who shot her child 15 year-old shamar young was shot late wednesday night. young was riding in a vehicle when someone opened fire on the car. according to police, she suffered from severe gunshot wounds and died at highland

fires. so we're still homes us smoky air. >> despite a snowy conditions up north. the fire danger is actually about to grow right here in the bay area. we talked about that. yeah. i feel like this is kind of early to get a little bit of snowfall. so we're still in october. >> any snow hope this good snowfall, i guess. and hopefully it will just kind of continue. dave, i know we had some chances of showers here and there. a little bit of sprinkles. but don't know if that's actually going to late here today. no, just a couple little sprinkles all of us look toward the thing we're hoping was those kind of kind of moisten up the ground a little bit and we really didn't get that across the whole bay. it's just near water. we got a little along the peninsula on the coast. >> but that's really about it. and when we get the return flow after it's all said and done. well, we're going to have now a problem of a fire hazard on our hands. now, this is what it looks like along the east bay shoreline. some leftover clouds. you can probably see that a little bit in your neighborhood too. a cool afternoon today, though, it's going to feel almost like a winter day as we look for

high temperatures struggling to get into the lower 70's. you'll see that in the 4 zone in just a bit. what a run to the winds will quick this afternoon. we'll get that typical on shore flow and then later on they really get kick in here as we go into sunday night into tuesday. this is actually going to be so intense some spots where lisa county and off to the east. we'll see a high wind warning potentially as a watch right now. but it might be a warning. but later later also we're getting off our weather watch concerns that may be upgraded later on to red flag warning temperature check right now. a lot of 40's up to the north bay 50's over much of the rest of geography that we have even inland into the lower 50's at that. now looking at futurecast for here is kind of the leftover sprinkles. you can see a little bit around monterey bay, but it really opens up very nicely. well before noon today. so just about all the day you're looking at basically mostly sunny, but temperature wise a little bit for you because it's going to be a bit on the cool side. let's go now. macro look at the long-range forecast here, middle of the week. it's kind of interesting is the new front drop. south. maybe the hopes of getting some light

rain showers from that. but that's going to re emphasize the cooling trend that you'll feel a big difference with another drop midweek and then warming up towards the end of the week with the out a new system towards the end of the weekend. these things are getting close to hopefully the models start flipping more in our direction highs today, though, in the 4 zone forecast 69 for san francisco will do the mid 60's along the coast. meanwhile, peninsula bay side lower 70's heading down south. starts to get into some of the middle 70's in spots. but palo alto at 70 73 coming in from redwood city in the south bay. we're still scratched struggling to get the lower 70's at work here. 72 los gatos morgan hill about 7470% of clara east bay shoreline to the south. also lower 70's. we're getting a lot of uniformity with our climate. we tend to get out of the winter months. what we're 70's cover tri valley and up to the north. 75 contra, costa county and also conquered 68 for berkeley. also vallejo at a chilly 6474 fairfield, 71 for nap. and we're looking at 74

santa rosa in the seven-day forecast. look at the temperatures bouncing around here. another little big sling happens on tuesday down to 70 with the recovery towards the end of the week. they'll be that other system, the lookout for. so potentially maybe picking up a couple little sprinkles or so on wednesday thursday's only some cloud tops there and inland. we're looking at temperatures in the 40's dropping for lows by midweek. noel, thanks, dave. >> if you get the chance to take an alaskan cruise, you might be able to spot some killer whales, a tour boat caught a pod of killer whales, putting on a showlcheck this out. breaching over and over. >> possibly gestures to communicate with the rest of the pod. look at this. these are called transients killer whales that prefer the pacific's deep water canyons for hunting. maybe they were happy because they spotted some knows but they were definitely putting on a show up there. look at that. how powerful creatures there.

had our high that reach to that point. so it's going to be a best lower 60's falling back in the 50's for much of the game as a day where the evening starts to approach and maybe some scattered patchy fog too. first things first, though, we still have some leftover rain a little bit around the peninsula, but elsewhere. you can see things opening up nicely that sets us up for a sunny day for today. but don't let all that sun for you because it will be on the cool side. we're starting off with the typical 50's around the east bay and along the east bay shoreline to up to the north bay. it's into the 40's some nothing earth shattering there. but some leftover sprinkles that we talked about mostly along the central coast. now that's migrating and down to the south. the other thing is when this is all said and done despite the getting this moisture really help us out much because we do have a fire weather watch covering a good chunk of the east bay and some of the higher elevations up in the north bay solano county, by the way, also has a high wind watch that may be upgraded to a warning later on. in addition to having that fire weather watch was well.

enough for them to moisten up the ground level like we wanted there go. we have a little problem as we get into the end of the weekend and early next week as those winds start to shift on us and we start to cool more off shore. here's what we've got going on right some scattered clouds leftover around the bay just a touch. here's the east bay shoreline. all lit up. the rain is really well off to the west and south of that. again, just grazing the peninsula little bit before it heads on out to sea. there's the golden gate for you off towards the distance. meanwhile, our temperature check lower 50's to middle 50's for most of the east bay. that's pretty typical this time of day and 40's up to the north bay. but later on today we're just going to be that much warming going on winds right now single digits to calm. we'll see that pick up a little bit this afternoon. so here's what happens in future cast for kind like some unfinished business, if you will, a couple little showers overnight and some sprinkles remain pretty much offshore. but for us will be left with sunny skies sort of feel pretty nice and warm yet a little breeze or if you're in the shade or anything. boy, it's going to feel big

difference, though, however. so a little bit of onshore. wind will get this afternoon that somewhat typical because we don't have a higher. anything kind of interfering with that. then tomorrow. here comes the problem. the winds pick up late in the day. it's a northwesterly flow and on shore a touch. but then up here in some of the pockets of starts to become more offshore. one of the north a little bit. that's what poses the problem that because this rig the system didn't bring much rain with it. we're just left with the return winds to get a lot of rain and so forth. this is not an issue. we haven't had that a few early sprinkles south and west basically mostly sunny and mild today with 70's the game plan that again as well. inland, they tomorrow they'll be a little bump in temperatures as we get near about 80 happening in some of those inland spots and also it will house. then later on for this week we've got mostly sunny and mild 70's and then will return to some 80's late in the week. but another drop happens midweek there. so some inland spots may drop even around 70 or so. 69 san francisco today, 71 oakland 70. meanwhile, for san jose. the wider perspective for you got the middle 70's to the far

east bay little bit up to the north bay as well. of course, we'll get into that in the 4 zone forecast and check into that extended well, will. >> dave in the north. a marine county will try to lift indoor masks rules for certain settings starting this coming friday. it applies to gyms offices. college classes religious gatherings. but if you want to ditch the mask, you need to be fully vaccinated. kron four's gayle ong has details. >> starting october 15. if you go to an indoor gym in marion county you made it to the math. if you are fully vaccinated something nancy menorah's is looking forward to every time i do. the move may. it's really uncomfortable. and there's just like this press coming back at mean sometimes i'm just like, oh, my gosh. like today. i realize i need to do a detox because my breath was just coming back in tip from the mask. so i'm just over it. and over the mask, marin county public health officials announced the easing of the mask mandate on friday. other indoor settings like offices, college classes and religious gatherings are also exempt from the mask mandate county

doctor matthew willis says that thanks to high vaccinations. >> we also have to decide based approach towards lifting restrictions when they're no longer you know, we have a vision of a future with low case counts. no hospitalization rates, high vaccination rates for people are not getting to cover their faces as much. and so towards that end, we're beginning to peel back restrictions in valley residents support the new rule and proud to live in a county that had an outstanding mask mandate. >> and that has been responsible about handling this and i hate wearing mask. so i'm delighted that we've done a good enough job getting vaccinated with a few exceptions that we can afford to take these now saw everybody doing their best. i think i am happy to see that moran is way up there. >> in being vaccinated because and we feel safer when we do take our and we're all sick of wearing masks. we >> but changes are headed doctor willis says there is

>> while the controversy over the vaccine mandate in the city of los angeles. now includes hundreds of employees of the la fire department that's happening all over the place. we saw san jose seattle, they're dealing with it. 800 firefighters filed a lawsuit in an effort to stop the order that they that says they have to be vaccinated or they will be fired. sandra mitchell has the details. >> city firefighter sounding a new alarm to give you i can't go to work perform the way they want me to knowing that you can game is really going to fire me and ray bill kerr and 870 others city firefighters today through their attorney filed a notice of intent to sue the city of l a the city has warned firefighters get the covid vaccine by october 20th or be sent home without pay. well, that's just uncalled for will be in court in 10 days. the 871 firefighters are seeking 2 million dollars each.

>> in orange county. new concern along the coast. the devastating oil spill is now affecting to southern california counties. that's right. meantime, a new development in the investigation. the coast guard revealing they're confident damage to the underground. pipe actually occurred within the last year leading to the oil spill. chip yost has the very latest. >> i'm highly confident. i'm convinced that this was initially the initial event that deflected the pipe itself was an anchor strike revealing new information about the oil spill caused by a ruptured pipeline off the orange county coast. the chief of office of investigations and analysis for the u.s. coast guard said it appears an anchor from a large ship struck the pipeline in dragged it more than 100 feet. however, he also said

that could be problematic on that front there go. we have a fire weather watch sunday night through tuesday evening. this covers the higher elevations up in the north bay. also in the east bay over the east bay hills. mind. you now solano county has both. that has that fire weather watch, which may be upgraded later on to a red flag warning and also has a wind watch that doesn't last quite as long. but also could be an issue as well. not maybe upgrade tool. a high wind warning later 50's cover most of the geography. for now, we have some 40's hanging on up in the north, 44 for santa rosa. and we're not going to warm up too much in the wake of these light rain showers which you can see pretty much clearing our area before noon as we go back to the mostly sunny sky conditions for the balance of this afternoon. so even though we're going to see a lot of sun going on today's win. not going to feel like it so much because temperatures will still be in most cases below 70 no going longer-range out another front drops south and another one. this guy will change our temperatures by midweek. it does technically

have that risk of a shower and we're continue to see these flow patterns coming in from the northwest. so that's good news on that front. hopefully we'll get something out of this over the next week or so. a look at your 4 zone forecast coming up for the saturday. 69 for san francisco. but again, that's our peak. mid 60's covering the coast. but on the bay side, yes, some lower 70's up to the north and middle to lower 70's down south even 73 redwood city 70 for palo alto. it doesn't warm up much to the south, 70 coming in for cupertino and also san jose 74 for morgan hill, east bay shoreline to the south and the lower 70's tri valley only in the lower 70's, of course, will be some winds working here, too, as will be tomorrow, 75 for a walnut creek and also conquered 68 for berkeley. 64 of allay 74 for fairfield, 71 for napa and 74 for santa rosa. so with all the traffic going on to the pacific. yes, we do warm up a little bit. we get slapped back down again tuesday into wednesday as you will notice here. back to around 70 a minor warm-up to finish off

>> in orange county. there's new concern along the coast. the devastating oil spill is now affecting to southern california counties meantime, a new development in the investigation. the coast guard has revealed they're confident now that the damage done to the underground pipe actually occurred within the last year because they didn't know all right. exactly have been trying to figure this out. chip yost has the latest details. >> i'm highly confident. i'm convinced that this was initially the initial event that deflected the pipe itself was an anchor strike revealing new information about the oil spill caused by a ruptured pipeline off the orange county coast. the chief of office of investigations and analysis for the u.s. coast guard said it appears an anchor from a large ship struck the pipeline in dragged it more than 100

feet. however, he also said based on some of the marine growth seen here on the damaged section of pipeline. they thine that initial anchor strike may have happened long before anybody realized there was a you know that the concrete casing around this pipeline. >> would have been in place. there would've been no we assume there would be no growth on the pipeline prior to the anchor strike. so after that initial anchor strike that would have deflected the pipe and cracked away the concrete casing is our theory. then the opportunity for marine growth was started and we can see that marine growth on the exposed section of pipe at this time. >> the captain said that 13 inch slit that the oil leak. trump also may have taken a long time to open up that can that kind of fracture. we've seen other incidents can happen either from altogether or can be a very a gradual. >> crack that could be that could have been in place for a long time and just getting worse over time. so with that

authorization for its vaccine for kids between 5.11 years old. this means the vaccine. however, will not be approved in time for those kids from now until after halloween. so they won't get that shot before that in colorado. doctors refused to perform a kidney transplant surgery on a woman who refused to get a covid-19 vaccine. 56 year-old lei lani lou tally has stage 5 kidney disease medical officials. they say the hospital requires transplant recipients to be vaccinated because they're at higher risk of catching covid-19 the woman reportedly would not agree to be vaccinated because of the role. fetal cell lines have played in the development of vaccines. she says she feels let down by the hospital. this is my life has nothing to do with politics. it's got everything to do. it. >> what happened to the profession of compassion and care and healing. i feel like that has almost all but disappeared. the woman is

i might wait a minute. dave says that i mean, things have cleared up after we got a little bit of rain over the overnight, right. dave. >> yeah, didn't do much good in terms of kind of moisten u the ground level. so if we had a decent rain, that would be a problem for this return offshore wind. but it looks like we're not in the clear for that. got to watch out for that. as we get into sunday for today. you can see turning to basically clear skies as what we have to some leftover cumulus off towards the distance and for the winds. let's go through the futurecast winds. we see a little uptick of onshore. winds shore. they get a little bit more pronounced though, tomorrow afternoon evening and they start shifting from the north and that tends to be more of an offshore direction took in solano county. but some of these higher elevations. we're kind of worried about a little bit tends to a little drier up there. so with this all in place east bay hills as well as points to the east are in that that fire weather watch will get right to it here. there you see the coverage or the next step along. the journey will be bright red going on here with the fire weather watch or read the red flag warning potentially. but

in solano county, in addition to all of this, they're looking at a high wind watch because of that valley just kind of channels and funnels that air. so perfectly. we've got upper 50's and lower 60's for a good chunk of the real estate here 50's. meanwhile, up to the north bay. so what we have going on short term some leftover business. you can see out to see the sprinkles that are left. we go back to sunny mode again. don't let that fool you because you add the winds to the sick way. jen good. it chilly in the afternoon as we struggle to the upper 60's and good portion of the area. so let's watch what happens all this week. we see the traffic coming up from the northwest. this is what we see in the winter months. we just can't get any rain down. here is the issue. does another kind of semi promising front by the middle of the week. maybe some light sprinkles, you'll feel the big chill temperature change with all of that is we really drop, though, going forward and you see a lot more action happening yet upstream. so the 4 zone forecast to check things out. 69 san francisco along the coast will do the middle 60's and not much of an improvement beyond that lower 70's bayside and

departures from the lay oakland and alameda between 4, 4, 45 with the return. 2030 minutes after the last out advance reservations are recommended and san francisco bay ferry will have special service for fleet week specifically to peer 41, which is right in between fisherman's wharf and pier 39 saturday and sunday. there will be 7 daily trips from the ferry building to peer 41 and that fair will be free and san francisco muni will be offering additional services well for fleet week on saturday and sunday. there will be additional f line shuttle buses between the ferry building and fisherman's wharf. and if you're making your way to san francisco from the south bay or the peninsula. caltrain has added extra service for the giants game on saturday. there will be 2 extra trains to san francisco. there will also be 2 extra post-game trains departing san francisco 1525 minutes after the last out or when they're full extra

innings or not. that last train will depart san francisco at 12. oh, 05:00am there will be no extra service. after that last train. so plenty of options, if you don't want to take the chance of taking your car and getting stuck in traffic.
