people that do not want to see zuckerberg run the social media platforms any more specifically facebook now as you guys said, this comes after hearing francis hagan testify in front of congress. she is a former facebook data scientist and she accused the giant social media network of pursuing profits over safety just like noel said. and the data scientists said that facebook harms children creates division and weakens democracy. now, she also claims the company failed to change instagram after research showed the platform negatively impacts young people. she is calling for such break to step down from his role in the company. here's what she had to say. >> mark holds a very unique role the tech industry and that he over. 55 1% of all the voting shares for facebook. there are no similarly powerful companies that are as he unilaterally controlled.

tomorrow's walkout circulated on social media from orange county all the way up to redding. this statewide protests is by is the latest move by parents and voters who are dissatisfied with both on-campus mask-wearing and vaccine mandates in california schools. we reached out to school districts around the bay area about possible disruptions and what they plan to do in case it happens. and as soon as we find out more information, we will let you know. >> in the east bay alameda county deputies are warning parents about brightly colored fentanyl. they're seeing on the streets. deputies say the drug could attract children because of its color and how it's being disguised. here's a photo of a recent drug bust early last week. the hayward police department found similar colored fentanyl in that city as well. you see it's a purple color there. police say some of the drugs found looks like chewed up bubble. gum. fentanyl is a deadly synthetic opioid that is extremely dangerous. it's up to 40 times more toxic than

heroin which increases the risk of accidental overdose. >> family and friends of jonathan cortez are still demanding answers in the fbi shooting of him. the fbi says an agent shot and killed cortez last month on fruitvale avenue. his family rallied in downtown oakland yesterday in hopes of getting more information about exactly what happened. kron four's. gayle ong has the story. >> the shooting happened almost one month ago and family members say there are still unanswered questions. >> family and friends of jonathan cortez rallied in downtown oakland saturday afternoon with a list of demands. cortez was shot and killed by an fbi agent in east oakland last month. the fbi says an agent shot court has on september 13 shortly before 03:30pm. the incident happened on fruitvale avenue. federal authorities say cortes was armed and wanted for several warrants. i love my brother. i

will never get to see this person ever in my life. and you guys stole dearly loved family members are demanding answers as to what led up to the shooting. still have not received an answer from them says is not the person involved into the released video >> we want answer that one. not a deal to be released. i want to know we were really want is for them to release the names of the agents that did it. >> released the names and i said did to give a family piece earlier this month. the fbi released a statement saying in part, quote. >> we do not comment on an fbi agent status. the review process is thorough objective and is conducted as expeditiously as possible under the circumstances. >> the oakland police department and the alameda county district attorney's office are also investigating this case in the newsroom. gayle ong kron 4 news.

>> turning to our wildfire coverage. now the a straw to fire in santa cruz county is 35% contained this morning. it's standing at about a 145 acres. cal fire says this fire started as a controlled burn but it jumped the containment line on friday. they say the fire is still threatening buildings power lines and sensitive wildlife habitats evacuation orders that were in effect yesterday have been reduced to 2 evacuation warnings now we do have a list of the areas with that warning on kron 4 dot com. coming up here on the couple morning news. a man is wanted in pleasant hill for a stabbing. >> have what police say happened during the crime. >> plus, lake tahoe's water level is at its lowest in years. why scientists are concerned for the lakes future moving forward.

sweater at least definitely there's some rain coming our way by tonight daves far as timing. it all out for dave. their noel and well, good morning, everybody. and for today it looks like will be located on the actual day. we do expect some winds to pick up and we actually see the sun come out. >> a touch of probably by the middle of the day as well. early afternoon. that's the shot coming in from half moon bay. so we're getting interesting shots as we start the morning. but things will be changing temperature check for you. we've got 52 conquered 54 off the antioch along the east bay shoreline were around 50 ish up to the north bay. we did see some 30's this morning. but up to 40 now, santa rosa in plenty of 40's populate the region. now we do have a colder air mass a lawsuit in though the sun may come up a little bit. we're not going to see much temperature movement at all. this is the front we're talking about in behind it. boy, some really cold air behind that. we may see some upper 30's by tomorrow morning and some of those inland valleys. again, as a possibility. again, the timing of this making note of a little clear patch. before we

get there. let's going kind of clock this out for you. quite a bit of cloud cover the morning hours. we get a break in the early afternoon. coastal drizzle is a possibility and then by the evening hours here it comes, not real. heavy. but that's the first line of many to look out for in its wake will be left with a couple little spotty showers. notice in the mountains mountain snows that also tells us this air mass is cold behind all of that too. all throughout this week. the storm systems will be varying are being different each time at times it will be colder than others. this one was one of the colder ones behind it. some colder air filters in and on balance your monday will probably be mostly sunny, it looks like this comes with winds could be that stormy feels well, winds start to pick up early in the afternoon even as the sun starts to come out a little bit. there's the coverage area in the eastern north bay and also in the east bay as well. little bit up here sonoma and marin not as pronounced. and then with the front dropping south wood shares the big increase in winds not long enough to issue any wind advisory with any of that. not for the bay area. at

oil spill in southern california. they're looking into mediterranean shipping company. >> danette because of one of its container ships was actually involved in an anchor dragging incident back on january 25th. the coast guard says the incident happened when a storm impacted the port of los angeles and long beach. they say the anchor dragging happened close to the pipeline that ruptured which was subsequently determined to be the source of the oil spill. now, despite all of this, the coast guard says they're examining other pipeline scenarios and bustles of interest as well. like to host just can't catch a break first. there was the caldor fire. now the lake and its surrounding communities. they're dealing with yet another issue. the lake's water level. >> as at wallace reports, the lake is at its lowest level as far as the amount of water in there. it's been so low for years and that has a lot of people very concerned. >> the our children had a

great time checking out the jet skis on the shores of south lake tyler family is visiting from the bay area to very nice. sunny day yet in doing so far other than i see everything. but the beautiful conditions have come with a cost due to the lack of precipitation and dry winters. the lake is now experiencing its lowest water levels in 5 to give you an idea of how dry things have gotten here at lake tahoe. well, look no further than here at kings beat at the north shore. i should be submerged in water underneath this pier. but it's slowly evaporated. over time and now families the to walk past the pier to get to the shoreline over the last few days. the lake fell below its natural rim u c davis co director for watershed sciences jalen explained why that's significant. >> currently the inflow into like ajo. it's less than the evaporation. from the lake. if that trend continues. that means that the level of the holds key going down. london points out water. evaporation is typical for lake tahoe. >> but the level at which the

police are hoping a sketch can lead them to. >> the man wanted in a brutal stabbing that happened earlier this week that injured a man kron 4 sleep to call picks up the story. >> white man possibly in his late teens to early 20's standing 5, foot 8 with a husky build and shorter dirty blonde hair is believed to be the suspect pleasant hill. police say allegedly stabbed a 23 year-old man at around 1030 wednesday night. >> investigators with composite sketch of the man yields leads. i think we're dealing with a lot of young emotions. >> and i think that obviously big mistakes were made. but we're here to investigate it to the fullest extent that we can sergeant david down, says that around 1030 that night. at least 3 people in what was believed to be an older model white four-door passenger side, driving down the 3,000 block of putnam boulevard through 8 to 3 skate boarders passing by downs says the eventual 23 year-old victim through something back,

lucifer. that's the name of their cat to the vet back in august after he was attacked by a coyote when the vet took some x-rays. they said he also been shot, but he was healed and that probably happened a couple of months before that, the pings say that lucifer only wonders with in their neighborhood and he's very friendly. they were shocked to hear the news from the vet. it's outrageous that somebody would be doing that. and in a neighborhood to attack shooting catch. >> the pings have had lucifer since he was just 6 weeks old. he is now 3 years old. the vet told them that they cannot remove the pellets because it could cause more damage. they say other pets in the neighborhood. they've also been hurt as well. >> down in the south bay milpitas police are investigating an officer-involved shooting. it happened friday afternoon. investigators say officers were trying to pull over a suspected stolen car near the milpitas square shopping center when detectives say during that stop, the driver started shooting at police.

the officer returned fire hitting the driver officers eventually were able to pull the driver out of the car and medics took him to a nearby hospital to be treated 4 injuries. investigators say the officer involved was not injured. neither were any bystanders is no other information on the suspect that's been released at this time. >> at least a half dozen lawsuits have been filed by people who want to force hospitals to use in vermette down to treat covid in from is an unproven d worming drugs. some have confused as covid-19 anecdote, but there is no evidence that shows that it works against covid. the drugs used to fight parasites and has been championed by conservative commentators. judge rulings have been mixed so far on this case. some refused to force the drug on to hospitals while others ordered medical providers to supply the drug to covid patients. 2 days after receiving a life sentence. robert durst is hospitalized with covid-19 durst suffers

but they'll be a spurt of this going on in this is obviously more delay compared to what we're getting in the bay as a pro versus our area. first, a look at those winds, an uptick into this evening or look, she's in the afternoon first before the front gets here, then by mid afternoon, you can see the coverage area in the north bay to the east solano county, particularly in the off to the east bay. up around marin and sonoma. not as much comparatively speaking. and then the front finally drops in and that's when we get that surge of some winds going on in the going to kind of pretty windy as we go into the witching hour for tonight. so when you get mid-afternoon on where to about midnight fair to call pretty windy across the region, although there's no wind advisories probably just below the threshold of that. we'll be left with kind of breezy conditions in normandy. but the skies will open up pretty quickly. so let's march through the local pattern here. we're going to see for the short term. again. skies will open up briefly this afternoon. here comes that line of rain here. there you see the coverage area in timing opening up. relieve during the overnight. and tomorrow morning might have a couple little patches of drizzle, though, to agree to

that city as well. police say some of the drugs found look like chewed up bubble. gum. fentanyl is a deadly synthetic opioid that is extremely dangerous. it's up to 40 times more toxic than heroin which increases the risk of accidental overdose. >> family and friends of jonathan cortez. they are still demanding answers in the fbi shooting of him. the fbi says an agent shot and killed cortez last month on fruitvale avenue. his family rallied in downtown oakland yesterday in hopes of getting more answers as to exactly what happened. kron four's gayle ong has the story. >> the shooting happened almost one month ago and family members say there are still unanswered questions. >> family and friends of jonathan cortez rallied in downtown oakland saturday afternoon with a list of demands. cortez was shot and killed by an fbi agent in east oakland last month. the fbi says an agent shot court has

probably the first thing you're going to notice kind of the skies, filling back up with cloud cover. the winds picking up. we're talking 2030, miles per hour range here. so it's going to have that chilly wind field to of blustery and all that prior to the wind. the rain actually getting here. the breakdown for you kind of scattered clouds. it's calling at 69 at high noon and by 3 o'clock we're at 70 coming up a little bit. of course, we'll take a look. not just at the near term but more the long-term forecast of what you can expect will and well. >> thanks, dave. after the devastating caldor fire ripped through the area earlier this year. people are starting to trickle back in. but for some opening back up isn't even an option. many beloved to resorts and tourist destinations are going to be closed for the foreseeable future. garage. has the story. highway 50 is seeing a return of travelers. but some staples remain closed. it's pretty sad. the entrance to sierra at tahoe being one of them due to the devastation caused by the caldor fire. the resort could

be off limits for some time. one of the kind >> i've been going here my whole life resort. officials say they have been working nonstop to repair the damage. but there are major challenges ahead. august caldor fire which nears full containment destroyed over 1000 structures and was thought to have burned around the resort, but it caused enough damage for sierra at tahoe to enter the season with uncertainty and a social media post. the ski resort told us loyal customers. >> they are uncertain of how much of that rain will reopen after the fire damage trees and cheerless part of the statement reading. we're not giving up, nor are we backing down from the challenge. but we want you to know what we know our intention is to keep moving forward and to open what we can when we can to welcome you back to sierra the season. she was a lot nights where i was a great church is going to be there in the morning. loyal customers understand the safety concerns, but they also worry about the impact it will have on their favor employees who won't be able to make a

with this performance. and i want you to talk to us a little bit about what it took to get to this point. >> yeah. i think, you it was a really difficult, i think put together, especially live. yes, certain to the lot, you know. how the pandemic was going on with like also that the revival of the delta strain coming through how willing are ordinances to come together and it's the states that i you know, basically we just the deer to like masks vaccine mandates out the venue and then bringing together. we've >> we started rehearsing before you know, it's 3 weeks before and walk down it and we're pretty devastated because we're like 2 events. the characters are ready. everything was kind of sidetracked. but over the course of the year. side to start getting back together. we started doing it over zoom for quite a while. we got kind

of sick of that. so we took a break and after about 2 months, we came together started to get live together in real space after we got and since then, we've i think brought together something quite wonderful. so not. >> luckily been able to see. i saw the 1st half and it really is a great story. you're going to be doing this at i hotel manila town center. it's a pretty historic space. so what does it mean to you to be able to perform there because when you are just performing the act. one that was in kind of an outdoor, you know, the makeshift area for people to actually see what you've been working on and it was great in that space. but to now be able to have the i hotel manila town center. what does that feel like to be able to put it on there. >> yeah. you know, the makeshift spaces outdoors were really good preparation for i'm a seminole towne as well for i hotel. we you know, the whole vi that i do want to do with traditional theater. i

want people to come into a place where they thought it's like this is a theater. you know, i want people to come in and think oh, this is a little, you know, rundown apartment the i hotel the way that it's kind of designed is has a gallery space and it's may and it's really adaptable. and so we've done this kind of thing where it's like 70 black box the kind of within the structure itself. so it does feel like a guy's apartment when you actually their lives in the space. the way it slip that the props around you to weigh how how close you are. also to be to the production. and so the performance it's just been a delight. i think the last 2 performances people really enjoyed this committee feel of the area that space. again, i don't know. it just gives us like want. there's a warmth to it soon as i walked us that place, it just felt like i got to take a chance on this and try it this way and it's worked out. honestly like

it's just been so it's just been there's a way to that place. yeah. what are the stakes? why did you choose this story. this is our you tell us the plot too much away. >> of course. i mean, this is a really famous for actors anyway. he acted school go to some usually some guy. any any like young person's assigned a scene from this play because every scene in this place a mask. we the big one that gets the sign. does character. i play tennis his monologue, which is a three-page monologue right at the end. there is quite quite and quite difficult but climb as rising when you do see quite funny and sad at the same time. so the u.s. actors were anytime mentions when actually they doing. this is our youth. that just, you know, their eyes light up and it's been done previously by many a list

rally against vaccine mandates for school kids news of tomorrow's walkout circulated on social media from orange county all the way up to redding. this statewide protest is the latest move by parents and voters who are dissatisfied with both on-campus mask-wearing and vaccine mandates in california schools. we reached out to school districts across the bay area about possible disruptions and what they are doing to possibly prepare for that. and so as we find out, we'll let you know. >> in the east bay alameda county deputies are warning parents about brightly colored fentanyl that they're seeing on the streets. deputies say the brightly colored drug could attract children because of its color and how it's being disguised. here's a photo of a recent drug bust. as you can see, those pink and purple baggies there this what's happening last week, the hayward police department also found similar colored fentanyl in that city. police say some of the drugs look like chewed up bubble gum. fentanyl is a deadly synthetic opioid that is extremely

dangerous. it is up to 40 times more toxic than heroin which increases the users risk of an accidental overdose. coming up here on the kron 4 morning news a man in want it in pleasant hill for a stabbing. what police say happened during the crime. >> plus, lake tahoe's water level is the lowest it's been in several years. why it has scientist business owners and tourist very worried about its future.

>> 9 o 9 here on this sunday morning. and there will not be a workers strike in hollywood. the union representing the crews that bring films tv shows to life agreed to a new contract with some major studios this weekend. sources say the international alliance of trickle stage employees and the alliance of motion picture and television producers concluded on an agreement. it's a 3 year deal that covers 60,000 workers. the deal avoids a strike that would have been the biggest strike across the country since world war 2. >> there is more fallout from the latest. dave chappelle netflix special called the closer netflix says it fired one of its workers for leaking the confidential price, the company paid for the special. the company reportedly paid more than 24 million dollars. netflix says it understands the worker may be disappointed but trust is the quarter. the

then for next weekend it's a rain and showers continue. so this is great and this is actually going to next monday as well. so we'll see how that bites into the drought here. 61 san francisco 65 for oakland 71 san jose. big change in those temperatures again, notice in the clouds and the sun mixture lower 70's covers in the east bay 60's up to the north bay in a bit. we'll have your 4 zone forecast and look at that extended for those patches of rain coming our way all week. well. >> thanks, dave. the u.s. coast guard and the national transportation safety board or ntsb has named a party of interest in the investigation into the oil spill in southern california. they're looking into mediterranean shipping company didn't it. that's because one of its container ships was involved in an anchor dragging incident way back on january 25th. the coast guard says the incident happened when the storm impacted the port of los angeles and long beach. they say the anchor dragging happened close to the pipeline

that ruptured which subsequently of course, was determined to be the source of the oil spill. now, despite all of this, the coast guard says they are still examining other pipeline scenarios and other vessels of interest. lake tahoe dealing with. well, first it was the caldor fire and now they just can't get a get a break because the surrounding communities. now they're dealing with yet another issue. >> the lake's water level at noon wallace reports the lake is at its lowest level for several years and that has a lot of people very concerned. >> the our children had a great time checking out the jet skis on the shores of south lake tyler family is visiting from the bay area it's a very nice sunny day yet in doing so far other than i see everything. but the beautiful conditions have come with a cost due to the lack of precipitation and dry winters. the lake is now experiencing its lowest water levels in 5 to give you an idea of how dry things have gotten here at

very scary experience. >> they believe it happened right in their neighborhood was shot in the back legs. so he was like running away when he was shot. the pings took lucifer to the vet a few weeks ago after he came injured, vet believes he was attacked by a coyote. they did some x-rays to make sure didn't break anything. and found these pilot bullets. they were surprised to find the pellet >> well, it behind his knee and they said had healed. so he's likely been a couple months probably they say they had no he was shot in the last few months. >> they had loose occur since he was 6 weeks old he is now 3 years old. this has been his only home he would wander the neighborhood. but always stayed close the stage for the few blocks from the house. so we know for sure it happens. >> or 2 blocks over from our house that the most they say they find this even more shocking because lucifer is a friendly everybody loves them

and he makes himself at home everywhere. he can actually open front doors that there's a lever. so that's what he's made so many friends. if you leave your house unlocked he can open the door and man who suffers made a full recovery. but they're keeping him closer to home. they say he isn't the only cat in their neighborhood here. campbell avenue and the santa mosques expressway has been hurt recently neighbor. also their cat was shot in the neck. down the street from this year and another cat has disappeared. recently. the pings tell me that some of their neighbors aren't letting their cats out as much as well. >> they say the vet tells them they can't remove those pellets from their cat because it could cause more damage cow that it's healed in campbell amanda hari kron 4 news. >> in the south bay milpitas police are investigating an officer-involved shooting. it happened friday afternoon. investigators say officers were trying to pull someone over in a suspected stolen car near the milpitas square shopping center active say

during that stop. the driver started shooting at police. the officer then returned fire and hit the driver officers were eventually able to uphold that person out of the car and medics took him to a nearby hospital treated for injuries. investigators say the officer involved was not injured and neither were any bystanders. there's no other information on the suspect that's been released just yet. pleasant hill police, meanwhile, are hoping a sketch can lead them to a man who is wanted in a brutal stabbing that happened earlier this week, kron four's phillipe djegal picks up the story. >> a white man possibly in his late teens to early 20's standing 5, foot 8 with a husky build and shorter dirty blonde hair is believed to be the suspect pleasant hill. police say allegedly stabbed the 23 year-old man at around 1030 wednesday night. >> investigators with composite sketch of the man yields leads. i think we're dealing with a lot of young emotions.

>> the vastness of black creativity. i mean, i think with mako show beautiful paintings that he's created over the last 3 years from 2018 to 2021 with in-game was show that's carried by text wimberley. i'm an artist is working with fiber, which i think it's not always highlighted in platform. sydney bay area artists and france's from san francisco. reason whenever an rtd uprisings you know, blowing up quite frankly. you're going to see them all to to the black creativity like expression. it's very important. the work that mallette does. this is the second time actually had an opportunity to collaborate with lat outside extra night in a show in 2019. and so to be able to come back and understanding the importance of the work that they not only do in the bay but globally has been an honor to collaborate and be part of this experience. showcasing not

only black car but really just celebrating our in general. i think it's something that. over the last, you know, 18 months i realize how important it is for our day today. existence. our and also just learning to understand ourselves and each other better. some super excited and looking forward to welcoming everybody comes to issue. we're so excited to have everybody come to know at. >> well where you kind of hit on it just a little bit because coming out of the year. we just had there been such an emphasis on understanding the black experience. it's been so prevalent and what do you hope people will be thinking when they leave the museum. >> well, i think potentially in the case of a marco show on its its title song. the black votes. it's an inspired by w e b dubois his book, the soul. so as a black folks with in 19 o 3 with that book was an assessment of black life. you know, at that time. you know. and so now when in 2021 and a

lot of the challenges that he highlights in the book still challenges that the black community has which we engage with it. when we think about, you know, antiablack rhetoric. we think about fighting systematic oppression as i think what this exhibition particular leads. i'm thinking about black. joy. black subjectivity and just a celebration of lot. this and so my hope is that people see all these exhibitions understand the spectrum, a black creativity understand that this top notch world class you these are some of the best artists in the world. frankly of their generation and so. we want you to experience the beauty, but after some of these questions about, you know, what would the world look like. you know. if we continue to push black creatives to have agency in their expression in telling our stories because i think also that's an important thing it does is tell us stories. i mean, think brian terry who's releasing his book.
