>> from the area's local news g% station. you're watching the kron 00:00am morning news at 7. >> good saturday morning to you. thanks for joining us here on the kron 4 morning news. i'm noelle bellow. it is saturday. october 30th one more day. >> until halloween. we've got a lot to get to this morning, but we want to start off. >> by getting a check of your weather forecast. dave outside lands going on in san francisco. what do people need to be wearing. >> ok, will remain somewhat on the cool side. but we do also have some of those patches of some light rain showers and drizzle throughout much of today. it looks like most of the can remain to the west. that means san francisco peninsula and up to the north a little bit. east bay, you're

probably fare a little better, but mostly cloudy for most of the region want on today. so it's kind of that mixed bag of not seeing much in the way of rain. but on the other hand, not clearing out very well and all this is the live scene we see at the golden gate bridge. of course, another part of the moisture is fog greeting us this morning. speaking of which it's going to take it just about all morning with a clear out some of those problem areas are released to the late morning hours of that stormtracker 4 shows most of the heavier showers remain up towards the north. but again, we'll be having that drizzle patchy drizzle going on with that fog remaining in the late morning hours. winds too little bit of an onshore wind mostly in the single digits covering most of the region and we had to that with highs today expected to be in the 60's. we've got the upper 50's right now. not a lot of mercury move is expected today. so 62 or so by 11 by 2 about 66 again, some drizzle and some light rain going on towards the west. we'll have a look at the total forecast coming up in a little bit.

well. >> thanks to a day to about side lands kicks off in just a few hours here in san francisco lizzo vampire weekend and young. those are just some of today's headliners because the music festival is here in town. there are street closures changes to public transportation as well. kron four's camila barco joining us live now at golden gate park. she's got a little bit more detail on the extra services that bart and muni are offering this weekend. good morning, camila. >> good morning. also yaffe 5 hours until day 2 of this concert starts. but who's counting right. which means there's going to be plenty of bumper to bumper traffic around golden gate park and possibly around the city. you can also expect to see more people on the buses and trains more than 200,000 people are expected to attend the three-day festival crews, like you said, we will have closed plenty of streets and that includes west of the park which means presidio at crossover as well as sunset

to keep. >> kids in there in smaller groups and basically in their own family groupings as opposed to gathering in large groups of people that you may not even know. >> many people will likely be wearing masks as part of their costumes which does have the added benefit of reducing covid-19 spread, although some masks do offer more protection than others. health officials still want people to wear standard medical masks to protect themselves and others from the virus. while there are concerns over halloween being a possible super spreader event. the number of new covid cases in california has actually already been rising for the last couple of weeks. the latest data from the state health department shows the state's positivity rate has risen by nearly a whole percent over the last 2 weeks up until now. covid cases have been steadily declining since august along with hospitalizations and deaths. officials say people who are unvaccinated are 7

times more likely to catch covid-19 than those who have gotten the shot. pfizer's vaccine for children only needs to clear one more hurdle in order to be rolled out to kids age 5 to 11 the fda authorize the shot yesterday and early next week. advisors for the cdc are going to be looking at the data and then that agency's director will make a final decision if approved by the cdc about 28 million american children will be eligible to receive the 2 dose vaccine. the dosage is just one 3rd. the amount given to people aged 12 and older and the shots would be administered. 21 days apart for this younger group, local health experts are calling it a game changer. >> kids. hospitalized, much more frequently in that you're of delta than in the old it's that one of the top 10 causes of infant in that age group in the united states for the last year. parents and guardians can rest assure that we

conduct a comprehensive and rigorous evaluation of the data on the vaccine's safety. >> and effectiveness and that this vaccine needs our high standards. >> the cdc panel will review pfizer's data on tuesday. they are expected to approve it. meaning kids could start getting the shots by the end of next week. several bay area counties have already been preparing to administer shots to kids. as you can see, a sonoma county has already set up clinics at schools 37,000 kids in that age group are within the sonoma county area 5 to 11 years old in that county there. they've got some goals here. 25 1% of them. they're hoping to vaccinate by december first 50% of them hoping to be vaccinated by january 31st 70% to be vaccinated by february 28th. meanwhile, santa clara county has also already set up a vaccine clinic at the county fairgrounds there. they're expecting about 55,000 shots to arrive this week. they've

got about a 166,000 kids, though, in that area. and santa clara county says they don't expect to have any. issues with supply when it comes to those doses. but again, they're expecting to get about 55,000 in the coming week. coming up on the kron morning news the world cup could be coming to the bay area. we're going to tell you where fifa is looking to host the big event. >> plus, protesters advocating for climate change calling out a major company. why they say the company needs to change who they're going into business with. and right after the break. for the first time we're hearing from the armor who worked on the set of the alec baldwin film. why she says the producers are to blame for the deadly shooting.

water anyways. it's 7.15, now here on this saturday morning. looking a little eerie outside with the fog here in the city. still a little dark. >> dave spahr says it's going to stay pretty cloudy day. >> yeah. looks like mostly cloudy for today. no. well, good morning and good morning, the live shot from the golden gate even shows the fog along with the ride which we're going to see a lot of those pockets for until the later morning hours. it looks like and will replace it by centrally a lot of cloud cover drizzle in some patches of some light rain also working its magic, too now just looking at. so when tracker right now we're pretty much single digits, but this will pop a little bit later on. this afternoon into the evening hours just adding a little bit to the fall-like chill. now the heavier rain is up to the north. we have mostly cloudy skies across the region. however, we're keeping drizzle in some light rain showers in that forecast. so so future cast for as this continues to kind of sure right around the bay. it starts to diminish and activity as we get to the evening hours. but overnight will kind of come alive a

little bit. i think we'll see a little bit more in the way of some sun going on for your sunday to make up for some of this. now, again, for today. a little bit of a pop in terms of those winds. you can see off to the east bay per took the near the delta where this truck to get into the 20's a little bit. and certainly the upper teens with that. so for today's mostly cloudy got some patchy light rain temperatures. pretty much hold in the 60's tomorrow. still considerable clouds cool with 60's in place like it. some of light rain going on early but looking into next week. showers monday and tuesday. back price a rain on both those days mild temperatures mostly in the 60's on this first batch on monday that will probably start in the late morning hours or at least into the early afternoon as we go into the evening, thursday's will. but more interesting because that may be a little bit more on the unsettled side also means more mountain snows, though it will be a little colder. a lot will be showing you that in the long range forecast models 64 today. san francisco is keep it mostly cloudy. watch out for the drizzle. a little bit of a breeze kicking in here late in the afternoon. 65

la x on to the airfield thursday because of a report with of someone with a gun. the man did receive help from trained la x officers and he was taken to a hospital the faa did have to issue a ground stop for flights but they were able to resume them within a couple of hours. and we're now hearing from the ceo of american airlines after a flight attendant was attacked by a passenger on wednesday night. that flight was headed from the east coast to john wayne airport in orange county. >> type of behavior has to stop and the best in turn is aggressive. criminal prosecution and the individuals arrested soon after landing. we're doing everything we can to ensure he is prosecuted to the fullest extent possible. >> the first class passenger remains unidentified at this point. he's accused of punching the flight attendant in the face and breaking her nose witnesses say the man was drinking and that the violence may have started after the crew member accidentally bumped into him while walking up the aisle of the plane. the

7.24 on this saturday morning. and one of the biggest sporting events in the world could be coming to the bay area. >> key members of fifo are in town and they're considering levi stadium as the host site for the 2026 world cup kron four's terisa stasio spoke to members of the delegation on what they're looking for. >> the bi-state has been one of the most successful outdoor venues in this country. generating over a billion dollars in economic impact. >> we're not done yet. our with the forty-niners talking up at levi stadium and how it could be a perfect fit for the next world cup. a delegation with the folks currently touring the united states to see what community should host the games in 2026 and total 16 games will be played among the united states, canada and mexico. the world cup is the world's largest sporting event and the forty-niners believe the santa clara facility could deliver the goods. >> so glad to have these 2

>> part of the burn scar area involves a stretch of state route 70 in plymouth and butte counties that shut down because of mud and rock slides that block to the highway. so yes, some of the storm definitely impacted those burn scar areas. >> it's a 7.31 here on this saturday morning. welcome back to kron. 4. >> morning news. want to start off with a look at the forecast. there is a little bit more rain on the way here for us in the bay area next week right date. >> yeah, well, good morning and good morning, everybody. it was not out. do what we had from last weekend, which is that's good news, too. and it's going to come in like a 1, 2, punch going on here. again, the intensity, nothing like we were already been through, which is good news back to the continue to do this all season of the great because it's the type of rain we need them more. i'm not so intense. heavy rainfall like we had. here's what we've got going on for today. now we do have considerable cloud cover. that will be the case. also tomorrow there's patchy drizzle it's enough to kind of dirty up the car. some light rain showers possible as we

get into tonight as well. there's the separate truck as you can see off the golden gate bridge still dealing with all of the fog, though, this morning and it will remain with us until later in the morning hours, 2 were placed by essential mostly cloudy sky conditions winds a little bit of a breeze that will pick up this evening. we expect them to be in the upper teens to the lower 20's even off towards the east bay as well. so we're going with cloudy today again, patchy drizzle with some also patches of light rain showers that's going to favor basically the west, the peninsula. san francisco in up in the north bay, not as much of the east bay. but you still have that chance is well known little burst happens very early tomorrow. but i think that the rain will be kind of turned off a little bit as we stay w th a lot of cloud cover. but next week, more opportunities for rain will go and investigate that coming up in a bit. well, thanks, dave. >> san francisco mayor london breed says nearly 98% of the city's work force is fully vaccinated with fewer than 1000 of the city's nearly

35,000 employees still unvaccinated all city workers must get the shot by monday. november 1st. that's a couple days or risk losing their jobs. the mayor's office says in the months since the mandate was first announced city representatives have partnered with labor leaders on outreach and education efforts in order to vaccinate as many employees as possible. national news. now the u.s. supreme court has denied a request to block a law requiring health care workers in the state of maine to be fully vaccinated against covid. a group of unvaccinated workers did argue that the mandate violated their religious freedom in a 6 to 3 decision. the court chose not to halt the mandate. therefore leaving it in place while the appeals process plays out. justice is amy coney barrett and brett kavanaugh voted with the majority. on monday. the supreme court will hear oral arguments in a pair of cases challenging the texas law that bans nearly all abortions after the 6th week of pregnancy anna wiernicki spoke

with doctors in texas about what's at stake. if this law remains in effect. >> on monday. the 9 supreme court justices will hear oral arguments about texas is restrictive abortion law. the law bans abortions starting about 6 weeks into pregnancy and is enforced through civil lawsuits against anyone who helps a person get an abortion case. the person with a status with a lethal anomaly. such a severe spinal or a heart defect. it's not compatible with life. >> these cannot be diagnosed. it 6 weeks. doctor nancy been for has bg why. and in austin since 1998, she says for many of her patients, the texas mall is dangerous. should they have to go to another state to get health care. should they have to endure a high-risk pregnancy to and die. and doctor harold miller says the law will force texans to turn to unsafe methods. that kind of abortions that kill my patients.

into the prop gun. michael shure has more. >> 8 days since a live round shot from a prop gun left cinematographer halyna hutchins dead and director joel souza injured by a shot fired from a prop gun by alec baldwin on the new mexico set of the film rust now for the first time a statement from the lawyers representing hannah gutierrez-reed the armor on the film blaming the producers in saying that gutierrez-reed had fought for training and handling weapons. but that she was, quote, overruled by production and her department the whole production set became unsafe due to various factors, including lack of safety meetings and we have the armor with the proper manager. >> and we're going to see fingers pointing it at one another. that's just expected while the series of events leading to the tragedy. our piece together. there is not yet clarity on how a prop gun with a live bullet made it into the hands of the actor. that's the million-dollar question here. >> didn't the problem manager properly inspect that done.

which meant multiple resorts had enough snow to open for business. this is video from palisades tahoe opening in the month of october for just the 3rd time in its 72 year history. they originally plant open just 3 of their runs but hard work from crews left him open up 7 instead and boreal mountain also opened up the runs their active 3 weeks earlier than what was originally planned for this year, making this the earliest opening date there in a decade. i was in tahoe just last couple of days. the snow still on the ground. absolutely gorgeous garage paulson showing us how opening day went. >> and the self. many had been waiting for. >> i've been waiting severed season. ever since last number twos and ended at boreal. the wait is over shot at the boreal for opening your >> how about 3 weeks early all thanks to the recent snow storms out of that storm courtesy of the bomb cycle

man is under arrest after making threats against several schools across the country, including 2 high schools here in the north bay officials in the west sonoma county union high school district learned of the threats late thursday night and contacted police officials that chose to shut down both west county high school in sebastopol and laguna high school in forestville. those threats also circulated in lincoln, california and at schools in georgia and florida. police have not released any other details about the suspect who made those threats. now to a developing story. the armorer in charge of guns on alec baldwin's film. rust is breaking her silence. a week after the deadly on-set shooting that killed the film's cinematographer and wounded its director. she blames the producers for what she calls an unsafe working environment and says she has no idea how a live round got inso that prop gun. michael shure has more. >> 8 days since a live round

had been testing the water to see if it was safe to reopen the beach to the public. it has now reopened. last week made history in the sierra more than 3 and a half feet of snow fell over the weekend which meant multiple resorts had enough. snow to then open for business. this is video from palisades tahoe opening in the month of october for only the 3rd time in its 72 year history. and they got a lot of snow. as you can see while they originally planned to open 3 runs hard work from crews. actually let them open up 7 different run. so some really good options there for skiers and snowboarders. meanwhile, the boreal mountain also opened up the runs. there are active 3 weeks earlier than what was originally planned for this year, making this the earliest opening date they've had there in a decade. gurajpal sangha shows us how opening day went. >> and the south. many had been waiting for.

with covid-19 and are convinced they have antibodies should understand that the amount and quality of those antibodies is hard to measure. doctor willis argues gaining immunity through the vaccine has been proven to work through clinical trials. when you're infected, you don't know how much you're getting, you know what the doses, what your body's immune system might be at that particular time. and so we find people that have been infected so have no anybody's anybody's there's a lot more variability there. so it's less reliable as a way of acquiring and other studies have also shown that there's the potential for even stronger protection for people who have been infected and vaccinated. doctor willis says the risk of not being vaccinated is not worth it is really comparison. those of us that have been infected should get vaccinated and people who haven't been infected are fortunate enough to not have been infected year. and also, you know, get the vaccine because going protecting much more. and that history of infection. >> coming up here on the kron 4 morning news a gun scare

morning. 2 people were hurt and 2 others detained for questioning following an incident at la x on thursday night and now we've learned the event was caused by a man who is experiencing a mental health crisis. the man's sister told our sister station in l a that her brother was diagnosed with schizophrenia and believed people were out to harm him. about 300 people had to self evacuate from terminal one at la x onto the airfield because of a report of someone with a gun inside the airport. the man received help from trained la x officers, though, and was later taken to a hospital the faa issued a ground stop for all flights. but they resumed within a couple of hours. an oakland man is accused of sexually assaulting another passenger on a flight from sacramento to denver. investigators say robert glasper repeatedly groped a man and then exposed himself on the flight. it happened monday night witnesses say he appeared to be under the influence court documents filed yesterday show glasper
