going on. lots of sunshine and little for the way of winds. we're going to see a little bit more of that also into next week, too quick check on what things are doing right now. little bit of sun making its way known across the east bay shoreline little bit left over haze and fog from the overnight and a little bit of orange hue. you can see off towards the distance. the storm track as well to the north. it will stay that way. we'll get kind some minor punctures happen during the week ahead. it looks like our temperature check. we have a lot of 40's on the board, as you will notice here, about 50 per hayward 43 for livermore. 43 also for antioch and 47 coming in for san jose winds. very inactive. in fact, they will stay that way on into early next our new little system. that's again a week. one may drive some local winds week as far as that search for rain is concerned starter

report. it doesn't look like we're going to see anything at least for the week ahead. well. thanks, dave. >> we are continuing to follow the news of the death of kron 4 security guard. kevin nishita, friends, family and even those who didn't know him personally are honoring the man who died saturday morning after he was shot while of protecting one of our own reporters. police are still searching for the gunman responsible for his death, though they haven't released a suspect description just yet. oakland police have released a photograph of this vehicle which they believe to be connected to his murder is a white four-door 2000, 4 to 2008 acura tl sedan, as you can see in this photograph that has no front license plate. anyone with information, though, about this vehicle is urged to contact oakland homicide detectives or oakland crime stoppers there is a reward of $32,500 being offered for any

information that could lead police to an arrest in this case. now that was working as a private security guard with star protection agency when he was shot and killed on the job. wednesday. before that, though he worked as a police officer with san jose hayward and coma. police departments. kron four's. gayle ong spoke with some who knew him well. >> this smile would light up a room for sure. kevin ishida was known for his smile and generosity come in was such he would give his shirt the back to anybody that needed it. he was always there for anyone for anything any time. sergeant don marchetti with the coma. police department work with michigan and law enforcement for several years. first in san jose then in coma, i came here follow him. money. yeah, is is nice because here we've got to work more closely together. and

just got to really. know him and the person that he was you and caring person that he was officer kim trask also followed initiated tacoma from another agency. he is described as a mentor to many. i kind nervous about trying to go to agency. but. >> you just reminded me that you can do the job. you're going to be good. he put a good word for me. so i honestly do believe because of kevin is one of the reasons why i got hired coma. >> and he was also there for her first case, a fraud call even though he had other cases he was working on. he actually came out to the scene and health mean and pretty much. kind of took over the investigation and then walk me through it. the shooter was a retired police officer who served at the oakland housing authority. hayward san jose and the coma. police departments. >> he later worked as a private security guard for star protection agency on wednesday around 1220 in the afternoon. he was shot in an

attempted robbery while on assignment in oakland protecting a kron 4 reporter. the shooting happened near the intersection of 14th in harrison. he was rushed to highland hospital where he died saturday morning from his injuries, law enforcement from across the bay area are sending their condolences rnmembering him as someone who was hardworking kind and served and protected his communities. gayle ong kron 4 news. here at kron. 4. of course we are devastated by kevin's lost many of us worked with him very closely. >> a crown for vice president and general manager jim rose has issued a statement on our behalf. it reads in part, quote, the news is devastating and our deepest sympathy goes to his family as well as his friends and colleagues. you can read our full statement online at kron 4 dot com. we did reach out to oakland. mayor libby schaff for comment, but we have not heard from her. however, oakland city council member dan cow has issued a statement saying,

quote, i am so deeply saddened about the tragic loss of kevin ishida. my deepest condolences to his family and to the kron family. he was a man of honor with a career to be proud of. california. congressman eric swalwell also offering his condolences on twitter yesterday he called the last heart breaking and thanks an issue to for his years of service. the congressman is calling for his killer to be brought to justice. and there is a fund that's been set up for the issue to family donations to his family can be made to the kevin mushy to trust at the metropolitan bank in oakland. they can be made in person or by mail the information that's on your screen here is also available for you at kron 4 dot com and we do again, just want to send our deepest condolences to his family and any help anyone would like to give to is is a deeply appreciated. coming up here on the kron 00:00am morning news world leaders are on high alert due to a new

by in the weather center. he's got a little bit more detail on whether or not we need jackets today day because the sun is shining. yeah. think we need a jacket sweater. i think you're ok, let's go to the coastal areas and all might be a little bit cooler. you know, when you always tend to get a little bit of a breeze cook and there. but. >> not bad for november late november day as we finish up the month here night little live shot coming in. the east bay shoreline a little bit of orange left over in that their picture. >> but you got it. it's a pretty nice start to the day and get used to it because there is more where that came from. yeah. we have this high pressure that's basically in control now. we do see a weak system early in the week coming here might stir up some scattered clouds. it's a possibility here. also drive maybe a little bit the way some local winds but not really much of a change. we don't see in our 7 day forecast. certainly rain has been put on hiatus a little bit here. 40's cover good piece of territory here. we have 43 at the santa rosa mid 40's off to the east bay. you can expect more of the same for the week ahead. 54 checking in for san francisco.

half moon bay relative at lafayette 56 there. 47 down to the santa clara valley for san jose. what is run through it in future cast for give you a quick idea. what we expect here, not much. a few scattered clouds here as we get through monday. yeah. this was something that was worth watching about 7 days we get some rain out of that. but as we can see, not much happening there. so here's the game plan this weekend continues. sunny and nice upper 60's lower 70's then for the week ahead, we're holding pretty steady with sunny and temperatures around 70 ihsan on the well inland areas. we're looking at some lower 70's and there's a little bit of a slight increase for the south bay head points to the south inland. those temperatures start to get a little bit more lofty here and then into next weekend. it is dry and mild temperatures still holding about 70 the week that follows. well, that's possibility. there might be able to scrounge up something there. maybe not so much for us, but at least for the mountains, give them a little bit the way some snow 71 san francisco and not bad to finish off november. 72 going on for oakland san jose checks

in at 75 you see that difference there from oakland san jose, little bit warmer in the south. as you get to those inland spots and on the board we have redwood city at 74 along with fremont 72 for tri valley. looks like up in the north bay here, too. we could see some pockets of warm weather there and around 76 coming up in a bit here. we'll check in your 4 zone forecast. thanks, dave. >> take a live look at san francisco international airport this morning. absolutely gorgeous. thousands of people are set to pass through there today, heading back home from the thanksgiving holidays. aaa actually predicted more than 4 million people will have traveled by plane over this last week. kron fours camila barco joining us live from inside the airport this morning. >> camila. it does look like there's some people there. but doesn't look too crazy as a goat. >> that's the best part. if you're currently at right now, you're not going to be waiting in long lines. it's smooth going here at sfo as many people head back from the

thanksgiving weekend and we're currently at terminal one here at sfo. and if i step out of the way. you can people here at what it looks like here at the air. for american airlines at terminal one here at sfo. >> as you can see, it's not that busy people are able to check in without any problems. no long lines. >> seems are having some issues with camilla's microphone there. we are going to try and check in with her again in just a little bit. she said yesterday her dad was flying back from san francisco international airport and it took them about an hour to get through security. so if you do have a later flight today, maybe make sure you pack your patience and get there a little early just to make sure you don't miss top-flight aaa also predicted more than 48 million people are going to be traveling by car. this

thanksgiving holiday. they already named san francisco as one of the cities where traffic could be the worst. but looking at the bay bridge there. it's pretty clear this morning. drivers are going to see the most congestion, though, on 80 eastbound and i 5.80 to san pablo dam road aaa saying the worst times to hit the road. today is between 01:00pm and 07:00pm. so right now it's kind of that sweet spot best time to drive any time before noon. again, just make sure you you either head out early, whether you're going to the airport or traveling by car. either way, it's best give yourself a little bit of cushion time. if you are flying home from thanksgiving destinations tsa says there are some rules about the leftovers. the you can bring on the plane, things like meat, baked goods casseroles and macaroni and cheese. they can all go through a security checkpoint in your carry on bags. liquid items, though. like any gravy, wine, cranberry sauce. all of

that needs to go in your checked bag, which i would not such putting liquid in your checked bag. but okay. tsa says items that need to be kept cold must be frozen solid and not melted before going through a checkpoint because then that would mean that they were like, what you are allowed to use ice packs, though as well. so be sure do that. if you'd like tsa says has recovered an alarming number of guns from passengers trying to get through airport security checkpoints lately. the news comes a week after the accidental discharge of a gun at hartsfield-jackson international airport in atlanta. agents pulled a passenger over for a second screening of his carry on when the gun discharged and in boise, agents found 2 loaded guns. this week agents and pittsburgh found their 32nd loaded gun this year. tsa says the agency is seeing a 20 year high in the number of weapons that have been recovered. if

you are traveling for example, with items that are not allowed in luggage. that includes things like self-defense items knives tools over 7 inches. we see those all the time. those belong in your checked baggage. >> the agency says 80% of the guns. they find are in fact loaded. for your help this morning. proctor and gamble recalling old spice and secret aerosol spray product due to the presence of potentially cancer causing chemical benzene. the company says the crash area recall includes all secret and old spice aerosol spray anti-perspirants as well as old spice below deck, aerosol spray and gestion of benzene can occur by inhalation orally as well as through the skin. it can cause leukemia as well as blood cancer of the bone marrow and life-threatening blood disorders. the company says it has not received any reports of adverse affects, they are recalling all of these products. get ready to pay

this beautiful sunny sunday morning can't get over the blue sky and the sunshine that we've got this entire weekend. i know a lot of us are hoping for rain and the sierras want some snow. but i feel like we don't really have a lot of that to give them all day if. >> no, we don't, actually. and all but take a look at the long-range forecast. the mountain snow does a little bit of hope, maybe not this week. coming up at the following week. but speaking of which are little shot of tahoe to give you an idea. a lot of green that's going on a field go. ross spring day with a lot of however, still certainly snow. that's there. and our forecast doesn't add anything to that. but we may get some more daytime melting, at least going on here. 61 expected tomorrow, 56 for tuesday, wednesday of 57 and yes, got the yellow up there. so we have lots of sunshine. the storm track stays to the north. we don't see any major changes happening for this week. but again, next week there's a high possibility may be getting some more snow is up there 40's for the east bay

dave. >> we're continuing to follow the news of the death of a crime for security guard. kevin nishita, friends colleagues and even those who didn't know him personally are honoring the man who died saturday morning after being shot while protecting one of our own reporters. police are still searching for the gunman responsible, though they haven't released a suspect description. oakland police did released this picture of a car believed to be connected to his murder. take a look at your screen. it's a white four-door 2004 to 2008 acura tl sedan. it does not have a front license plate. as you can see in this photo if you have any information you are urged to contact oakland homicide detectives or oakland crime stoppers. right now. there is a reward of $32,500 being offered for any information that could lead police to an arrest in this case that was working as a private security guard for

star protection agency when he was shot and killed on the job last week. but before that, he worked as a police officer and hayward san jose and coma kron four's. gayle ong spoke with some who knew him best. >> this smile would light up a room for sure. kevin ishida was known for his smile and generosity come in was such a he would give his shirt the back to anybody that needed it. he was always there for anyone for anything. any time sergeant don marchetti with the coma. police department work with shia in law enforcement for several years. first in san jose then in coma, i came here follow him. money. yeah, is is nice because here we've got to work more closely together. and just got to really. know him and the person that he that genuine caring person that he was officer kim trask also followed initiated tacoma from another agency. he is

described as a mentor to many. i was about trying to go to agency. but. >> you just reminded me that you can do the job. you're going to be good. he put a good word for me. so i honestly do believe because of kevin is one of the reasons why i got hired coma. >> and he was also there for her first case, a fraud call even though he had other cases he was working on. he actually came out to the scene and help me and pretty much. kind of took over the investigation and then walk me through it. the shooter was a retired police officer who served at the oakland housing authority. hayward san jose and the coma. police departments. >> he later worked as a private security guard for star protection agency on wednesday around 1220 in the afternoon. he was shot in an attempted robbery while on assignment in oakland protecting a kron 4 reporter. the shooting happened near the intersection of 14th in harrison. he was rushed to highland hospital where he died saturday morning from his injuries, law enforcement from

across the bay area are sending their condolences remembering him as someone who was hard working, kind and served and protected his communities. gayle ong kron 4 news. of course, here at kron 4. we are absolutely devastated by his loss. many of us worked with kevin closely over the last couple of kron 4, vice president and general manager jim rose has issued a full statement on our behalf in part it reads the news is devastating and our deepest sympathy goes to his family as well as his friends and colleagues. you can read our full statement. >> online at kron 4 dot com this morning. the mayor of san jose san licardo has released a statement on twitter. it reads in part, we mourn officer kevin ishida who proudly served the city of san jose for a dozen years in san jose pd and continue to serve in retirement to protect the kron 4 news reporter in oakland when he was tragically

shot. we did reach out to oakland. mayor libby schaaf for comment, but we have not heard from her. however, oakland city council member dan kalb has issued a statement saying in part i'm so deeply saddened about the tragic loss of kevin ishida. my deepest condolences to his family and to the kron family. he was a man of honor with a career to be proud of and we've also heard from california congressman eric swalwell. he offered his condolences on twitter calling the last heart breaking. he thanked initiative for his years of service. the congressman is also calling for his killer to be brought to justice. now a fun has been set up for an issue. family donations to his family can be made to be. kevin nishita trust metropolitan bank in oakland donations can be made in person at any metropolitan at bank location or by mail the information that's on your screen is also available at kron 4 dot com if you'd like to help again, just sending our condolences to his family

this morning. dave's far as got a look at how warm our temperatures are going to get de noel looks pretty not just for today but also into next week as well. by the way, sfo no delays occurring out that way. so. >> off to a good start. their little breezy, though they're being reported. but beyond that, we're doing pretty good. starting things off and give you an idea some of the statistics there at 57 clear skies breezy some gusty winds to make note. but again, no delays, some other airports of no delays where we have in this particular chart, although notice how chilly it is. it's still starting to feel like winter elsewhere newark at 38, for example. but marty, a 37 so chilly there. the some of the icing issues occurring. also in some of the great lakes airports as well. but the storm track for us goes up and around our high pressure cell. so we're going to be in this persistence forecast. looks like for this entire week and that continues into next weekend. the following week. there's some hope that maybe we'll get some changes in here. we'll have to see how the mind when you

4 million people. we'll have traveled through airports across the country taking a live look at san francisco international airport now thousands are expected to pass through there today. that's where we find kron fours camila barco this morning. joining us live now from a terminal one. i believe camilla have things started to pick up at all. >> i know people are coming and going and it's relatively quiet here at sfo this morning. like you said, i'm currently at terminal one and there's no long lines. so that's good news for travelers who are coming here to sfo. and if i step out of the way. you'll get a better look at what i'm looking at what i'm seeing here at terminal one. if i zoom in, you'll see that the check in process for american airlines is smooth going. there's no long lines and it's been like this throughout the entire morning. however, if i zoom out, you'll get a better picture at terminal one. and then as i pan to the other side, you'll see that there's also barely any line to get through security. i think the way time right now is about 10 to 12

minutes. so travelers it's a good day to fly out right now. but these wait times could change at any moment. but well, i haven't seen a crowd of people at sfo. i have seen this. take a look at your screen. many people are hugging their loved ones and saying goodbye as they return back home from the holiday weekend. airport officials expect more than 49 1000 people will fly out of sfo today. now this year many of those travelers are fully vaccinated. some say they weren't able to fly out last year because of the pandemic. but one woman i spoke to this morning says she hasn't gone on an airplane and several years. this thanksgiving. she fruit. she flew from the east coast to see her family and the process was easy. i came to san francisco to visit my son and his family. >> for thanksgiving. i haven't been here for 12 years. so i was delighted to come. even what i recommend to someone to fly. yeah, i think it's fine. it's fine these days. i'm. i

found that level of crowding was okay at the airports where i was. so i anticipate it would be a lot more crowded and i found today. >> now to put things into perspective more than 32,000 people flew through sfo on thanksgiving day alone. this year. and that's 22,000 more people compared to thanksgiving day in 2020. now back out live here. you'll see that it's not as i said, people are coming and going. but airport officials. are encouraging people to plan ahead. no, all i was able to spend thanksgiving day with my dad. he flew out of sfo last night and he told me that he waited about 45 minutes to almost an hour. in line to get through security. so those wait times could change. and you also have to factor in traffic out on the roads. so airport officials are encouraging everyone to plan ahead. back to you. alright

i'm tamir's voice and my son needs justice. he deserves justice. >> that was my of the late reporting for us this morning. on the peninsula. police have arrested 6 year-old own on suspicion of possessing meth amphetamines and a gun. it's happening in san carlos police say they found a suspicious car friday night around 8.30, in the home depot parking lot on old county road when the officers checked the driver's record. they found he had several outstanding arrest warrants after searching the car. police say they found a loaded gun substances that could be methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. the suspect has now been booked into the maguire correctional facility. a federal appeals court has temporarily blocked a mandate to have all california prison workers, vaccinated. the decision was made on friday and the mandate was originally supposed to take effect january 12th. it's now been halted until at least march. that's when a hearing will be held to discuss the issue a bit further state

figures show more than 50,000 state prisoners have had covid-19 which more than half the population at least 242 of those prisoners have died. coming up here on the kron 4 morning news a school is expanding their ipad lending program. >> what this could mean for its students that coming up next.

fund fond thoughts of it, but i haven't explored as much as i'd like to. so i'm excited to talk a little bit about what you like to do down there. >> well, we've got plenty of things for you to do it. you know, it's one of those things taking advantage of our big bay area backyard is always easier said than done. but carmel by the sea. it's just got so much to offer and it's a state that's really hard to replicate anywhere else. so close to home. this stretch of northern california coast is just loaded with outdoor spots carmel beach being one of the favorites and most easiest to get to. it's just stunning. it's one of those places where you can easily and very happily lose a day, at the foot of ocean avenue which is carmel by the sea's main drag. it's an easy walk from pretty much everywhere carmel by the sea is a whopping one square mile in size. so you're always close to the beach whites and dog friendly surfers like it

here walker's our fans to even on days when the weather isn't perfect. the scenery doesn't disappoint when you head into town, you'll find all those shops and restaurants and that type of thing along ocean avenue, but also don't just stick to ocean avenue when you head into town. carmel by the sea has all sorts of courtyards and passage ways. there's more than 40 of them. i think ask you that it's kind of like a labyrinth of sorts. it's just fun to kind of wonder and discover truthfully, you don't need a plan if sterling is maybe not your speed. you need something faster. you can hop on eve. i can roll through town, mad dogs and englishmen is located just off of ocean avenue. they run some they rent the bikes as well. and that want to go it on their own. but truthfully carmel by the sea has your parents may have told is just one of fun places

getting lost is a good yeah. i know they they were definitely big bike riders, and and loved, you know, what, long walks on the beach. i guess you could say it's very romantic play. it's a very romantic one of my favorites to go to every time i visit point lobos state natural parker is a real natural reserve. okay. it's a california state park. >> it's just 3 miles south of carmel by the sea. if you only got an hour, that's ok debt there. if you've got a day, you are incredibly lucky. i'm envious. the coastal views here are so striking to me. they just almost don't seem real. they are long hikes. there are short hikes. there are easy strolls to the to the coast re like this plentiful. you can see sea otters sea lions pelicans. the list goes on and on and on. if you're more of a mountain person. we've got that for you to just and it in. and the scenery changes in carmel valley,

november 28th last couple of days of november before we race into the real holiday season of december. we've got to spring-like temperatures no the way. kron dave spahr standing by in the weather center. he's got a look at your forecast for week ahead a day. okay. good morning. welcome morning, everybody. and high pressure is a rolling things for us. that means a fair weather is expected for not just today but for the week ahead, mild temperatures, too. so. >> enjoyed for all your holiday shopping as well where we started things off with that. for example, with the clear skies that we have at first light. as you can see. nice blue skies, blue bay and east bay shoreline all lit up. the storm track will send everything up and around us. this is a pattern. you're going to hear much more throughout the week ahead. there are some minor deviations. a little bit. that will be covering as we get there. but more important, there might be a shift into the following week. we're hoping at least get some mountain snows out of that progress on our temperatures. now more green on the board. if you'll notice little bit of

49 for antioch 51 for concord, 50 for livermore east bay shoreline already in the upper 50's and the 50's also up there in the north bay. the winds a little bit of an offshore wind has been kind of cooking here a little bit of very weak, though, when we don't expect much progress with that. even with daytime heating 64 by one by 4 63. those are modest numbers. that's kind of calculated for the run. the delta, but some inland spots, you may get some lower 70's in there as well. course. we'll be covering all this. and the longer range forecast for you and the 4 zone to know. well, thanks, dave. we're continuing to follow the news of the death of kron 4 security guard kevin nishita. >> friends, colleagues and even those who didn't know him personally are honoring the man who died saturday morning after being shot while protecting one of our own reporters. police are still searching for the gunman responsible for his death, though they haven't released a suspect description just yet. oakland police have released this picture of a car believed to be connected to his murder. take a look at your screen

right here. it is a white four-door 2004 to 2008 acura tl sedan. the car has no front license plate, as you can see. so anyone with information on this vehicle or who might own it is asked to contact oakland homicide detectives or oakland crime stoppers immediately. there is a reward, a $32,500 that is being offered right now for any information that could lead police to an arr in this case. we do have photos and video from tacoma police this morning. this was taken yesterday as officers from several agencies were there as kevin's body was taken out of highland hospital yesterday morning following his passing officers from the alameda police department and san jose pd were also there on hand to pay their respects. they all escorted initiatives, body and full law enforcement honors from the hospital to the alameda county coroner's office just even looking at that video, it's clear she did leave an impact on all of

those that he worked with, though he was working as a private security guard with star protection agency at the time of his death. he previously worked as a police officer in hayward and san jose and in coma before retiring from the force kron four's, gayle ong spoke with many folks who are remembering him. >> this smile would light up room for sure. kevin ishida was known for his smile and generosity kevin was such a genuine he would give his shirt the back to anybody that needed it. he was always there for anyone for anything any time. sergeant don marchetti with the coma. police department work with shia in law enforcement for several years. first in san jose then in coma, i came here follow him. money. yeah, is is nice because here we've got to work more closely together. and just got to really. know him and the person that he was you

and caring person that he was officer kim trask also followed initiated tacoma from another agency. he is described as a mentor to many. i about trying to go to agency. but. >> you just reminded me that you can do the job. you're going to be good. he put a good word for me. so i honestly do believe because of kevin is one of the reasons why i got hired coma. >> and he was also there for her first case, a fraud call even though he had other cases he was working on. he actually came out to the scene and help me and pretty much. kind of took over the investigation and then walk me through it. the shooter was a retired police officer who served at the oakland housing authority hayward san jose and the coma. police departments. >> he later worked as a private security guard for star protection agency on wednesday around 1220 in the afternoon. he was shot in an attempted robbery while on assignment in oakland protecting a kron 4 reporter.

the shooting happened near the intersection of 14th in harrison. he was rushed to highland hospital where he died saturday morning from his injuries, law enforcement from across the bay area are sending their condolences remembering him as someone who was hard working, kind and served and protected his communities. gayle ong kron 4 news. many of us did work with kevin very closeln here at kron 4. a lot of us, a very shaken up and and saddened. >> by his last run for vice president and general manager jim rose has issued a statement on our behalf after learning of his death that reads in part the news is devastating and our deepest sympathies go out to his family as well as his friends and his colleagues. we do have a full statement that you can read online if you wish to kron 4 dot com. we reached out to oakland. mayor libby schaaf have not heard back from her. however, oakland city council member dan count has issued a statement saying i'm so deeply saddened about the tragic loss of kevin ishida. my deepest

at least it's all above freezing. but reminder. it is winter around the rest of the country and around the great lakes states. there is some of the icing occurring to in south florida. there's also some delays occurring. some of the airports there, fort lauderdale as well. this is what's going on and the national map in terms of the west coast, we have a high pressure cell. that's kind of controlling everything sending the storm track to the north. that's really not going away. now. it will puncture through in the longer range forecast and most notably, it looks like early into the following week. not. that's next week. but the following week that the punch or puncture through its not real hopeful that will get rain. but there may be enough to scrounge up some mountain snows up in the sierra. we could use that upper 50's along the east bay shoreline inland. they've popped to the lower 50's and 50's up in the north bay to all this morning. they've been in the 40's. even some 30's 55 san jose 57 checking in for san francisco, not much to see but will run through. what about the next to 36 hours or so. some scattered clouds when we get into monday, drop south here. there was some hope that this was going to be more

about 7 days ago. so you have to these long-range forecast models. they can change. when you get closer to it, the breakdown for looking at. it's sunny and nice today. upper 60's lower 70's of persistence forecast as things hold steady for the week ahead will be some minor new wants day today that will keep you up to date on and then for next weekend dry and mild temperatures. hold near around 70. this is for the inland areas. and it seems to be a little bit of a push in the southern end down to the south bay to get those numbers moving a touch 71 san francisco 72 going on for oakland. this is really nice stuff. 75 san jose. sunny and pleasant across the wider geography. we see lower 70's off towards the east bay. but actually some middle 70's along the east bay shoreline a bit there to 75 san jose and even a 76 to santa rosa and a little bit. we'll take a look at those longer range forecast for you and the 4 zone. 2 noel, thanks, dave. >> well, aaa has predicted more than 48 million people traveled by car this thanksgiving holiday to their destinations. they already

have named san francisco. one of the cities where traffic could be the worst as people try and get home now from thanksgiving. they say drivers are going to see congestion on. i 80 eastbound and i 5.80 to san pablo dam road. aaa says the worst time to hit the road today is between the hours of 01:00pm and 07:00pm best time to drive right now. any time before noon. if you do have to head home. maybe try and packers top up early and get out of there. aaa also predicted. when all is said and done, this thanksgiving holiday more than 4 million people will have traveled through airports across the country taking a live look at san francisco international airport this morning. thousands are expected to pass through the airport today. >> that's where we find kron fours, camila barco. she's joining us live from inside the terminal one. it does look like there's more people there right now. then there were the last hour camila. >> yeah, well, no, it's definitely not empty here at

sfo people are constantly walking through the doors. but the good news is that there's no way times here at terminal one. if i step out of the way. you'll get a better look as to what it looks like here at terminal one at sfo. if i zoom in, you'll see the check in process at american airlines. philly wyatt's there's a few people checking but throughout the morning. there's been no long lines at american airlines if i pan over on this side. you'll get a better idea as to what security. or tsa looks like here at terminal one. there's a few people in mind. but as you can see, it's not a long way. i'm estimating about 10 minutes or so to get. through tsa this morning here at terminal one. and this morning i haven't seen a lot a huge crowd here at sfo. but i have seen people. say goodbye and hug their loved ones as they head on back home from the holiday weekend. airport officials tell me that they expect more than 49,000 people

will fly out of sfo today this year. many of those travelers are fully vaccinated and some say they want able to fly out last year because of the pandemic. now the people i spoke to this morning say that the process to fly this holiday weekend was easy and the most important part was being able to spend time with family again. >> i was great. you know, it's always it. it's always fun thing bring an for not being home for a long time since it's like the holidays expecting it to be a lot this year. but yes, president quiet. >> it was great. i miss people a lot. so it's really exciting see people after missing for a long time. it's been smooth so far. it was smooth on the way here. smooth so far today. but i haven't the so we'll see. >> now to put things into perspective, more than 32,000 people this year flew through sfo on thanksgiving day alone. and that's 22,000 more people compared to thanksgiving day in 20 what you now as airport

officials expect more people to come through sfo this morning. they are encouraging travelers to plan ahead. like i said, they expect 49,000 people to fly through sfo this morning. it's currently not busy here at terminal one. but you never know what could happen. there's definitely some traffic congestion. i'm here outside the airport. so plan ahead. if you make your way to sfo this morning. to you. alright camila, thank you for that live report. if you are flying home from thanksgiving destinations. tsa does say there are some rules about the leftovers. >> that you can bring on the plane, things like meat, baked goods casserole, macaroni and cheese. all of that can go through a security checkpoint with no problems. >> liquid items, though, like gravy, wine and cranberry sauce. those need to go in a checked bag. really not sure. you want to do that, though, because can you imagine gravy, just your bag. the items that

need to be kept cold need to be frozen solid and not melted before going through a checkpoint because then they will become a liquid. you are allowed to use ice packs in your carry on bags as well. a new report here from tsa says it has recovered an alarming number of guns from passengers trying to get through airport security checkpoints this year. the news comes a week after the accidental discharge of a gun at hartsfield-jackson international airport in atlanta. agents had to pull a passenger over for a second screening of his carry on and that's when the gun discharged in boise. agents found 2 loaded guns this week agents in pittsburgh also found their 32nd loaded gun this year. tsa says the agency is seeing a 20 year high in the number of weapons that have been recovered by agents. >> if you are traveling for example, with items that are not allowed in luggage. that includes things like

congress did not do anything about this before their thanksgiving break. now they have just a few days to come up with a deal, possibly a stopgap. at least one of those to avoid a government shutdown. let's take a step back and tell people how we got here. >> congress passed a short-term funding measure in october. but that runs out on december 3rd, they could come together and agree on a long-term spending bill or pass another stopgap, nothing happens by friday. the government could shut down and this has happened several times before the last one stretching 35 days ending in january 2019. if the government shuts down hundreds of thousands of federal workers, not just here in dc but all across the country could face furloughs, essential workers, though. like tsa officers and other federal law enforcement. they'd still have to work. they just wouldn't get paid. also national parks and monuments could close. there would also be disruptions to many operations at the fda and cdc, although covid response would likely remain the same

so the big question, what's going on. upstream? well, this week, maybe a couple little passing clouds here and there. temperatures remain steady. this is about where it is. we get to sunday of next weekend. and there's not a little maybe some snow showers, perhaps up in the mountains going on. but it's not real. real hopeful. we'll see. we get a little closer. 4 zone forecast 71 will do it. san francisco at the coast. about 70 bayside were lower 70's here. middle 70's heading down to the southern end of the peninsula in the south bay mid 70's at this location. meanwhile, the east bay shoreline lower to middle 70's tri valley's got the lower 70's to walnut creek 7169 berkeley 64 with napa at 71 68 fairfield 73 for sonoma and santa rosa checking in at 76 still a bit cool on the beaches. but you know, for this time of year, not bad for the longer range. more of the persistence forecast basically lower 70's covered just about everybody. those nightly lows,

dealing with the supply chain and other issues this holiday season. and it's a great idea. to consider an alternative gift. that's really an investment in a child's future. we know that college in other forms of post-secondary education can be very, very expensive. and we also know that more traditional get small, much loved the moment that they're open and are often outgrown in terms of size and interest apover time as a mom myself, i know how quickly our homes can get. cluttered. so this is an idea to give a gift that's more meaningful in the long run. any contribution to a 5.29 college savings plan is a perfect way to do that, ok, so what is a 5.29 college savings account. 5.29 college savings account is named after section 5 to 9 of the internal revenue code. and these are special counts, saving and investing

accounts that when they grow in value, the earnings are never taxed. these are accounts that allow you to specify money or delegate money for higher education expenses. every state are nearly every state, including california has a 5.29 college savings plan. and these are very easy to invest and call it california's plan is called scholar share 5.29. this graphic. you sent me. it is really helpful because it just kind of shows if you give, you know, $25 twice a year. how much that actually. >> grows over time. and that's right. small amounts can add up. so rather than giving a gift that appreciates in value. this is one that can grow in value and even if 5 or 10 family members give 25 or $50 for a holiday each year and perhaps for a child's birthday. these amounts can

add up to 10,015, 20,000 over time. >> so it's a great idea to consider. and there's a 3 different ways that you can give a gift toward toward college. break down those ways. for me. right. and they're all very easy. the first way is to set up a 5.29 account of your own for a future student in your life. most people don't realize it does not need to be their own child. it could be a grandchild or niece or nephew. you don't even need to be related to set up an account. you typically need 15 minutes and $25 or even less to get started. and it's a great way to start a tradition of giving for that particular child during holidays birthdays and other milestones. the second way, if you don't want to set up an account of your own is to ask the child's parents or anyone else in their life they already have a 5.29. account established for that child. most 5.29 plans making very easy for account owners to invite others to contribute

oft9n. there's a simple code that can be used online or there's an address to which checks can be mailed. and the last way to contribute is to give a gift card gift of college gift cards that can be contributed to future students. they can be redeemed into most any 5.29 plan account and the gift cards you can then go ahead and put those in the stocking. so that maybe there is something physical that kid can that can have on on christmas morning. >> what age do you do you suggest people start doing the sort of thing. well, i think it is never too early to begin saving for high higher education given the cost of it. >> so even for an infant child or a child to be this would be a great gift or a child of any age. what ever can be contributed towards those future expenses that much last that a child will need to borrow and repay with interest. so i would give a gift of education to a child of any age.
