moderate happening rain and then patches were just a light rain and drizzle going on. and that's going to kind of the hallmarks you can expect for most of this afternoon until we get into tomorrow. we'll have another. >> nice heavy load of a heavier showers coming marching on through right now. this is what radar looks like. there you can see the patches of drizzle going on with the more moderate rain showers like around the delta san francisco. you can see and along the coast and out of the peninsula as well, putting it all together. looks like we're almost kind of coming into the clear a little bit. just temporarily here. but again, expect this to kind of continue all day. what we have will continue get rain intensity kind of jumping up and down. >> but staying cloudy and there's your fog also on the east bay shoreline. but that's expected on a day like today. temperature check for you in the upper 40's, we expect only to get into the 50's for highs today. there's the winds out of the southeast and the south that's going to actually continue even into tomorrow until finally that front friday drops on through. and that's because of that is why there's a wind advisory

covering everybody solano county up there in the north bay. but elsewhere. the north bay technically not in that and walk through some of that in just a bit. show you why. here's the breakdown today showers light rain expected all day today. again, more on your forecast coming up in just a bit. noel. >> thanks, dave. we're preparing for several days of rain and there's several things you can do to prepare for them. flooding concerns. are there. and if you still need supplies to protect your home or your business, you might want to pick up some sandbags this morning. kron four's camila barco joining us live from san francisco with more on some distribution options. good morning, camila. >> good so, yeah, the rain has been coming and going here in san francisco right now. as you can see it, some light rain, but that rain is expected to accumulate over the next few hours. and of course, like said there are some flooding concerns and one way to avoid flooding in your homes is sandbags to avoid that outside, right coming inside. so here the san francisco public works is offering them this morning.

they will be handing them out at 08:00am until 2 this afternoon and san francisco residents and businesses can get up to 10 sandbags for free. now you can get them here at the public works operation yard moran and kansas street and don't forget to bring your mask and also proof of address. now, i spoke to meteorologists at the national weather service and they are predicting several inches of water across the bay area. it's also going to be a windy system. so pg and e is on standby for possible power outages. people should have some food, water and flashlights on hand just in case meteorology meteorologista get at the national weather service don't anticipate for major river and banks to overflow however, they do expect to see some places flood. >> but localized flooding. and you know, off-ramps and on-ramps a place there's just low spots in training and the

where you can download the kron 4 mobile app there. you're going to find current conditions. our live radar as well as our up to date forecasts. now we are continuing to follow the aftermath of the devastating tornadoes that hit across the midwest and southeastern us friday night 36 people are dead across 5 different states and crews are still combing through fields of wreckage searching for missing people. officials fear the death toll may rise to more than 100. this is a video of the destruction in kentucky, a tornado destroyed a candle factory and killed 22 people. there. the governor fears 70 more people may have also been killed. governor andy beshear toward that damage across the western part of kentucky, including dawson springs, which is one of the hardest hit towns in the tri-state. mike pickett has the latest on recovery efforts. there. >> dawson springs. residents are starting to get a better sense of the damage caused by

yesterday's tornado. this community here in hopkins county was one of several across kentucky that was severely damaged by the tornado. i worked madisonville to want and i work. there were other tornadoes of this. this is stores. >> they have cleaning rebuilding and checking on family and friends after a night of destruction, one in particular. got. >> got injured pretty badly. her whole trailer was picked up off the foundation and. she's currently in the hospital. governor beshear declared a state of emergency is sending teams to hard-hit areas and activated the kentucky national guard they will help with cleanup and recovery and search and rescue efforts and hopkins and at least 5 other kentucky counties. one of the concerns that the mayor just shared in particular. >> it is really being able to touch base with a lot of the folks who are out of contact that don't have direct communications with governor beshear also said president prove their federal emergency declaration request and started that he wants to kentucky tornado relief fund

to help tornado victims. >> people who live and work in dawson springs. hope the tornado didn't take away for what they say is a special place. want to give up in our community. we don't want anyone to just pack up and move away. we want people to stay here. this is still a great community. both dawson springs in hopkins county officials are asking people that either don't or don't have any business here in town. the police stay away. so it does not impede with the cleanup and recovery efforts in dawson springs. my pick. it. >> in edwardsville, illinois. meanwhile, 6 people were killed when an amazon warehouse was hit by tornadoes is all just southeast of chicago. the tornado ripped the roof off that warehouse while a wall about the length of a football field collapsed and trapped workers inside 45 people made it out safely. but investigators say they aren't sure if anyone is still unaccounted for because this all happened during a shift

change will continue to bring you updates on that. meanwhile, in arkansas, 2 people were killed due to the storms there. one of them was among folks inside a nursing home near memphis when the tornado hit. officials say 20 people were actually trapped inside there during the storm. they say the tornado ripped off the roof of the nursing home and damaged other buildings in town as well as early reports are confirmed this tornado will likely go down perhaps as one of the longest track violent tornadoes in united states history. coming up here on the kron 4 morning news a 7 hour standoff ends in a deadly shooting. we've got details on the moments leading up to it all. >> and after the break, lake tahoe under a storm watch. we've got tips on how to get we've got tips on how to get you up there. safely. ♪ ♪ you are my fire ♪ ♪ the one desire ♪ ♪ you are, you are, ♪

>> welcome back. a winter storm warning is in effect right now through tuesday night for lake tahoe. >> and other areas to the north in the sierra there. the national weather center saying a snow was supposed to start falling late last night. heaviest snow, though, expected to fall tonight through monday caltrans warning drivers now the chains are required this weekend on highways in and out of tahoe. we spoke with a caltrans spokesperson about preparing for the winter drive. this graphic pretty much covers what we always tell people have an emergency kit full tank of gas. you want to have your cell phone, fully charged sitting in traffic for a

while. >> have some snacks and water, that kind of thing because it's not it's not going to be a routine ride home on sunday. can guarantee that it's going to take longer than normal. so we want people to be prepared for that. >> got to be patient. nelson with caltrans says they do some prep work before the snow hits, of course, like salting and brining on the roads. so they are prepared for 24 7 storm coverage. but employees that are working 12 hour shifts to ensure travelers make it up and back down the mountain. safely. so there's lots of, you know, precautions are in place. be sure that your packing your own patients as you wind your way down the dave, what's going on here at home. >> okay. rain kind of on and off and intensity is what we're looking for. this afternoon. however, another wave is expected early into tomorrow to take us around the noon hour. we'll go in plot that for you and we kind of put the cap on all of this from the early part of the week might even have some week might even have some mountain sn hi honey! hi mommy! oh i missed you! you just want to video call the kids. ok. hush little baby...don't say a word...

>> santa was in the bay last night for the 34th sausalito boat parade. dozens of boats were lit up for the holidays. they all did a lap along the waterfront. some of the sailboats had several strings of lights. just run up from the top. their mask. some of them are using lights. all of the votes in the parade were led by the defiance yacht. that's where santa was seeing some christmas carols from the top deck. he was everybody a very merry christmas. the show is part of the softly. don't winterfest it is expected to wrap up this morning with a holiday 5 k run is a benefit race for the dip si kids program. that program helps at-risk youth. >> in the community. the run is going to take people down the scenic route along the historic waterfront. it's set to be underway in about 15 minutes. but they definitely are going to be dealing with a

little bit of rain. i know dave was saying the rain is going to cut. the intensity is going to kind of be coming and going. so hopefully it lightens up while they're running out there. you couldn't i can get knees and get back the north pole areas presents for abby id has to oversee the elves >> yeah. for it's going to be on and off variety of the rain. we don't have this low dropping in for the colder stuff until we get into early next week and that's we have that chance of throwing some snow in there to mount hamilton and mount diablo even potentially in the santa cruz high mountain tops might even see something there as well as to really bring the snow levels down later on. so putting into motion. we still have the subtropical jet this. don't forget this moisture is coming from very low latitudes which much more mild. it's closer to hawaii. for example. so it cools off when it gets here moderates. but that's the general location and then the slow up in the gulf of alaska. yeah, you'll feel that coming in here tomorrow. live shot for you. the east bay

shoreline. it's all the fog that's in place and temperatures into the 40's over most of the region. don't expect them to move much beyond that. let's get the future cast, though, for this afternoon, they were getting into this afternoon. there you see again, the rain intensity on and off. and then by about 6 o'clock or so. the concentration of the heaviest rain will be pretty much golden gate and points to the south. a little bit up here. you can see off to the east bay as well. we kind of take a break early tomorrow morning. this will be the winds that you're gonna notice the most. and with this line, everybody is going to notice this marching on through. we get around the noon hour or so. that's coming with some cooler air. by that point will be a little bit of a wind shift with all of that. so will be some intense rain. no little packages. you can see nate monday night into tuesday overnight. look at that. noting the colder air doesn't necessarily mean that's mount hamilton getting snow. but that just gives you the general idea, the computer saying it. some colder air there. it's market accordingly. so the winds today this afternoon still coming in from the south. now we actually walk into the wind

advisory at 4 o'clock this afternoon. even those could be kind of breezy already is right now. but this is what they're watching out for walsh with that secondary front coming through by midday tomorrow. again with the intense rain. it just showed you this will be packaged in with its with some heavy winds, with all that. russia's on past. we're left with again. breezy conditions. so the game plan is this rain and winds today. wind advisory kicks in 4 o'clock this afternoon. then from monday into tuesday. rain break early on monday. rain kicks back up again with that line we just showed you around noon and the mid to late week well, but the thing is a break early on wednesday and all this and then we're another batch of rain for wednesday. thursday. that's not going to have the intensity birthing. we've talked about now, but it's actually more upstream after we get past next weekend collection from what we've had so far of look at some of the rainfall totals just kind of eyeball that we've had about a nickel to a dime over most locations. add to that. this is what we project or expect getting into monday. there you can see amounts approaching about 3 quarters of an inch or

so, then you can actually see that next wave march on through wish. everybody gets pushed and to about one inch or so in the collection bag, 57 san francisco 56 oakland 56 san jose. everybody is dealing with wind and rain and temperatures holding in the 50's across the region. we'll take a look. some of those long range forecast models for you showing you that rain that comes back again after next weekend. well. thanks, dave. >> well, a man is dead. this morning after a 7 hour standoff with police in antioch. the man was accused of shooting at cars homes and police on friday night kron four's phillipe djegal has details. >> neighbors around, of course, in were ordered to shelter in place or evacuate of safely possible just after 1 o'clock friday afternoon. yeah. that's when police responded to reports of a man firing a rifle at cars houses officers and eventually shooting down a police drone surveying the area. first of all. >> you don't know where it's coming from. and the next thing is that. i'm going to it

this way. it's christmas time. why would somebody be shooting guns to push police have not released a motive. investigators say man went back into a home where state for several hours continuing to shoot outside directing gunfire at neighbors and police. >> then shortly after police say he set fire to the garage just after 7 o'clock at night. he walked outside and was gunned down by the swat team. it was rendered and the suspect was pronounced. >> we seized on the scene. >> a community service officer. what appears was accidentally hit by a truck while in his car blocking traffic from entering the crime scene suffered injuries but is expected to survive. >> as for the shooter made police for the contra costa county coroner's division. >> i released his identity phillipe djegal all kron 4 >> also in the east bay oakland police investigating 2 shootings that left 2 people

injured. the first one happening around one 15 saturday morning. police say they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the area of fisher avenue and macarthur boulevard. he was taken to the hospital and is now in stable condition. the other shooting happened just over an hour later on parker avenue. police say they found another man with a gunshot wound. there. right now. he is said to be in critical condition at a hospital. no word yet on any suspects or motives in either shootings. police are also looking for a suspect. they say set fire to a building on the campus of uc berkeley. campus. police say the incident happened saturday afternoon at the anthropology and art practice building the suspect who is described to be a roughly 6 foot tall woman left the scene on a bike. no further details have been released. meanwhile, over in fremont, police are looking for the man who stabbed someone last night. police say they did arrest one person, but they're looking for a second person that was involved. the stabbing

happened on argonaut way around 1115, victim was taken to the hospital. police say they weren't able to find the knife if you have any information about the stabbing you're asked to contact fremont police. a tracking app is selling your location data and t-mobile says it's going to stop rejecting iphone rebates will have more on that after the break.

>> welcome back. 7.24 on this sunday morning at a popular family tracking app is selling location data to marketing companies and people are spending some big money on an f tease. rich demuro has all the details in today's tech smart. >> here's what's happening in the tech world. the popular tracking app life 3.60, lets you see where your family is on a map and apparently they're selling that data to the highest bidder. a new report from the web site. the markup says that life 3.60, sells its location data to about a dozen different brokers who then sell it to marketers life. 3.60. has over 30 million users, a portion of them children. the company told the website that the business model offer core life 3.60 services for free. the company's privacy policy does say they might share your information, but in a way that can identify you life. 3.60 recently purchased the tracking company tile.

t-mobile has been rejecting iphone and apple watch rebates to the tune of several $100. now the company says it's a mistake and they will fix it. the issue brought to light by popular. apple tech journalist mark gurman who writes for bloomberg. he said apple easily gave him his trade in money. we upgraded his iphone. but t-mobile is promise. monthly bill credits were rejected a $100. apple watch rebate also from t-mobile was denied. now, t-mobile says the rebate issue was caused by a bug and they're in the process of fixing it customers who were mistakenly denied should get a text to resume the process. people are spending a lot of money on an f tease to the tune of 30 billion dollars in 2021 this according to new insights from chain analysis nfts or non-fungible tokens basically a form of digital collectibles. they're all powered by the block chain and can be images. video audio or even linked to physical objects and at t's are typically purchased with

>> well, to ski resorts are now open for the 2021 2022 season heavenly ski resort and kirkwood mountain resort opened up yesterday that some video of folks going down the slopes their north star opens up this morning. unlike last year. you don't need a mountain reservation to secure your spot on the slopes. but there are some covid-19 protocols to follow. if you're planning to dine indoors or if you're getting your kids any lessons this year. the resort say they're looking forward to the snow. that's to come. >> or see anything from 30 inches to 3 coming in with this so keep an eye on it occurred. what's going to get hit heavily is going to get hit north stars going to get which means that all 3 resorts on the epic past will be opening more terrain as quickly and as safely as possible. my message to guests play it safe that means plenty of snow. no need to rush it on the road. and then of course always obey closures on the resort to see that rope line don't cross it.

>> the north star big springs goggle is going to begin loading up, folks at 8.30, this morning. so about an hour away. other trails are opening up around 9 o'clock. i know they're getting the snow. we're getting the rain got a lot of weather to talk about this morning. want to send it over to dave spahr here for a look. dave, are they going to get as many breaks in the snow as we're getting in the rain that you've been saying. well, yeah. but i think that after this week don't know hurrying up there by this weekend, things will calm down. hopefully the roads will be handled nice and you have all the snow collection. >> from the rain and the snow that we've had over the week ahead. by the way, though, into the following week. we have more systems to make note of. so getting back maybe next sunday. if you wait too late, maybe another issue and we're still trying to piece all together but looks like success of systems into early. the following week to that translates to snow for those folks up there for today, though. it's going to the rain that's going to be intensity on heavy and then more modest

and more. but like a sprinkle or drizzle going on there you see it on storm tracker. 4 over most of the geography right now in the east bay a little bit. it's all broken up there quite a nice collection in san francisco southern moran and along the coast. the flow pattern obviously west to east. and that's what we're getting. we're getting the subtropical jet marching in the colder low pressure system is up to the north. that will transverse through us. probably by tomorrow and around the noon hour or so. there's the beauty picture, if you will, the east bay shoreline with the fog and the rain in place could have a stiff breeze going on here. that wind advisory, by the way. yeah, it covers just about everybody except napa counties, sonoma and marin. this will be in effect from 4 o'clock this afternoon. all the way until very early tomorrow morning about 07:00am. they've expanded a little bit. there. so they'll be watching out for the winds later on to where the heavier intensity rain again on and off intensity temperatures in the lower 50's. we have more to come though, in the next

several days there is a break habit happening here. i'm going to show you the longer range forecast models to get the kind of a peak into the following week there with more success of snow and rain coming our way. well, thanks, dave. >> residents across the bay are preparing for that atmospheric river expected to bring those heavy winds and rain. the weather system has utility crews increasing staff to help with any possible power outages that might occur kron four's, gayle ong shows us how people are getting ready. >> well, the weather was overall quiet on saturday hardware stores were kept busy across the region. one north baseball or had their shelves cleared just what the last 2 hours they've all sold out, sold out of rain gear markel manager of jackson's hardware in sandra fell is showing us empty shelves as of saturday afternoon. we're selling out. >> rain barrel gets to capture some rain. >> all of the boots and weatherproof products and atmospheric river in this case infamously known as the pineapple express is expected to bring widespread rain.

gusty winds. >> hazardous beach and marine conditions sunday into monday. cities like santa rosa is expecting up to 6 inches of rain. the city experienced flooding during the last powerful storm in october. a lot of measures have been taken since then and prior to then. >> to make sure that hopefully our systems continue to flow as they're supposed to do so not only is the city constantly checking our creeks, you know, working on drainage issues can do. conducting maintenance are also residents to do the same thing making like clearing the gutters, checking the wipers and securing any loose outdoor objects cities like santa rosa in other communities have sandbags stations that are available for for community members to use. but some general maintenance that residents can do like clear in the leaves and debris on gutters. so hopefully the rain goes we want to build back at center fell jackson's hardware already putting in orders for next week when another weaker system is expected to arrive after the atmospheric river a buyer's very diligent. they

facility. an additional 45 people did make it out safely the rescue operations have now shifted to recovery operations. just you to has more from edwardsville. well, that is the amazon facility over my left shoulder and the damage there is significant. >> we're talking a 150 yards. so think one and a half football fields. but the big loss is the loss of life. 6 people killed and more sad news to report. >> this is a tragic day in illinois history. the illinois governor's summing up what has been a chaotic terrifying and traumatic event with more days like this to follow the images from bommarito automotive group skyfox telling the story at about 8.30, friday evening. a tornado tore through this amazon facility on gateway commerce center drive south 6 people died. 45 made it out safely. one remains hospitalized and another sobering piece of news rescue

operations have ended and have shifted to recovery continuing to search the site for evidence of life and will continue recovery operations until all personnel are accounted for. >> but this time estimates or the recovery portion of the incident will take about 3 more days. if you'd like to deliver food and water. we're recommending the red cross. the salvation army. i can say the most important thing you can do is pray for the victims. and their families. edwardsville police want families to know that a reunification center remains open at the nearby pontoon beach. police department if their loved ones missing. we are still out to him. >> in the meantime, few details about who was inside this facility and where if anywhere they were sheltered when the tornado hit. >> and what steps amazon is taking in response to the tragedy. >> also spoke with amazon earlier today and then for them to provide every assistance to this community,

so you can make the most of every single season. >> welcome back. just about to be 7.45 here on this sunday morning. taking a live look out at sfo a little bit wet out there for sure. lots of cloud cover and lots of rain. dave says we're going to kind of be in this little pattern rain for the next several days. we'll update. >> yeah, well, i will only get a little break by the middle of the week and then another little weak batch as we finish off the week. here's the radar thus far. there are patches of just drizzle going on and then some moderate rain showers thrown in there for good measure as well. you can expect that to continue throughout the afternoon. the next thing building is going to be a little bit of a breeze to to help with that more intensity as well. here's what's going on in tahoe. meanwhile, we have a drop in temperatures. notice what happens on tuesday here in through wednesday. we drop into the 20's. that's we find you get this colder air surging on throug sic right

now. today, tomorrow they're still dealing with the subtropical jet. so that's relatively mild air. so this means snowfall levels will be dropping tuesday into wednesday. they're going to feel it as we will too. but we have a winter storm warning that's been posted this until 10. tuesday evening, of course, is organic. it can change the next bout not likely to produce a winter storm warning. but still something to look out for. 2 cars will be more moisture with all of that. we're going to be measuring that in the feet. by the way, that could be as much as 6 feet in some of the higher tops there. half moon bay. there you have it. some water droplets on the lens and all the fog and light rain. there's the temperature check into the 40's. maybe add 8 degrees to that for your high futurecast for here's the rain high and low intensity throughout the day today dropping ever so slightly down to the south bay peninsula late in the afternoon early evening and then very early tomorrow morning. a bit of a break and over portions of the bay and then by noon. finally,

this front starts to drop south and this is going bring in some colder air by this point. also lower those snow levels for places like mount hamilton and also mount diablo. finally, it looks like by tuesday morning will really start to clear out in earnest with all of this. but temps will be cool watch those overnight lows to back to the 30's. we go those winds. by the way, it could be kind of breezy today. they're coming in from the south, then with the front. here comes a surge. as you can see on monday right across the region with that uptick in terms of winds that will be fairly brief, though. now, as i mentioned earlier, the longer range forecast models. we have all the activity going on the next couple of days. we get a little break here in the middle of the week say tuesday night into early wednesday morning. then another little batch. not as potent but mountain snows come with that. then we get a break for next weekend. but on into early the next week. don't you know what monday is another hit. and there's more another hit on tuesday course. this is a very organic and could change. but this is good to see during the wet season trying to make up

>> yes. so that's the emotional eating. it's emotional time right now. everyone's stressed out and the the one way to to curb the emotional eating is to first recognize that you're doing it. a lot of people don't even realize that they're eating at a stress. >> oftentimes they'll tell me i just can't get rid of my chocolate craving aren't creating chips. i can't stop. i'm so weak. but actually they're not recognizing that they are stir in the eating added stress. so the first thing to do is just be really mindful and kind of recognize and look at your eating patterns when you're eating emotionally. that comes on very suddenly those cravings just all is said and no, i want to you know, my favorite comfort food, but when you're physiologically, hungry that's very slow. just pay attention to that. well, in a way to reduce your stress levels is

too. >> decide what you have to do versus what you want to do. >> yes, this is the the. >> have to do list. very says they want to do listen, i i say try to balance that out. we and i'm guilty of that creating this to do list that just keeps on going on forever and never getting to the things i want to do so i'm saying to reverse that start out with the things you want to do and then work your way down into the things you have to do. >> and some of those have to do use may not be significant anymore. but if you if you're always doing things that you have to do. it creates resentment. >> anger. >> and just deprivation, which will cause you to eat emotionally. >> and and that that also kind of goes hand-in-hand with managing your social stressors. because a lot of times, you know, we go to a party, you're feel like you

have to include yourself in other people's conversations. that sort of thing. but you don't always have to say yes to party invitations, which i think is a little bit difficult for some people to understand yeah. it is difficult to do. but if you and if you put your calendar out at the very beginning of the the. >> the holiday season and start plugging in things that you want to do and schedule even schedule in your exercise time. so if some of these social events, our conflicting with the scheduled. exercise time included, then you can just say, you know, i already have something scheduled on that day. so you're prepared to to decline. if you have to. but over committing could definitely create stress. okay. final thing. say no to food pushers and don't be a food pressure. i that's those

have the umbrella in the car all week long because we'll have some more upstream to look out for right now. this is what radar appears like on storm tracker 4. there you can see where the trouble spots are heavy spots are southern marin through san francisco peninsula. another bill package there in the contra costa county, alameda county not as much right now, kind of taking a breather a little bit. here's the flow pattern. still, the subtropical jet supplying all of this. the far up towards our north half moon bay water droplets on the camera, lens with fog and cloud cover get used to a lot more where that came from. for today. temperature movement may be at 8 degrees for today's highs. that's about all the best. we're going to muster here. we do have winds coming in from the south, southeast for now. ultimately they will shift its going to take about a day or so before we finally get that front dropping south, but because of that, we do have a wind advisory. this covers everybody except 3 of the counties up in the north bay napa, sonoma and marin everybody else is in this. and this goes into effect at 4, even though is going to be breezy all day today and we'll

>> dawson springs residents are starting to get a better sense of the damage caused by yesterday's tornado. this community here in hopkins county was one of several across kentucky that was severely damaged by the tornado. i worked madisonville ky want and i work. there were other tornadoes of this. this is stores. >> they have cleaning rebuilding and checking on family and friends after a night of destruction, one in particular. got. >> got injured pretty badly. her whole trailer was picked up off the foundation and. she's currently in the hospital. governor beshear declared a state of is sending teams to hard-hit areas and activated the kentucky national guard. they will help with cleanup and recovery and search and rescue efforts in hopkins and at least 5 other kentucky counties. one of the concerns that the the mayor just shared particular. >> it is really being able to touch base with a lot of the folks who are out of contact that don't have direct communications with governor

>> 8.11. turning back now to the aftermath of those deadly tornadoes across the southwest in edwardsville, illinois, 6 people were killed when an amazon warehouse was hit by tornadoes. this is all just southeast of chicago. you can see the damage there tornado ripping the roof off the warehouse. a wall about the length of a football field then collapsed and trapped workers inside 45 people did make it out safely. but

investigators say they aren't sure if anyone is still unaccounted for because this all happened during a shift change. meanwhile, in arkansas, 2 people were killed due to the storms. one of them was among folks inside a nursing home near memphis when the tornado hit. officials say 20 people were trapped during this storm. they say the tornado ripped off the roof of the nursing home and damaged other buildings in that town. if early reports are confirmed, this tornado will likely go down perhaps one of the longest track violent tornadoes in united states history. dave. >> ok for today. the rain kind of intensity will be kind of on and as we get into tomorrow, though, a little bit colder rain will develop another line to look out for. we're going to track it for you coming up in just a bit.

>> welcome back. it is 8.15 and it is wet out there taking a live look downtown san francisco this morning. we've got those water droplets on our cameras. the rain kind of coming and going coming and going dave's far as got a little bit more detail about just how long we're going to be dealing with all this wet weather 88. >> this week of the rains kind of coming and going and just about all week long through all of this. this is the progress we have right now. it's still the subtropical jet providing all of this and the kind of, you know, build in

intensity and then die down a little bit more to a drizzle. you expect that all today. there's another stronger potent line. we're looking for into tomorrow as we approach around the noon hour and you really feel temperature shake up with all of that. here is the flow pattern. you can see by putting it into motion nice rains happening overnight. although collectively, we didn't get a whole lot thus far from maybe a 10th of an inch of rain. course, some areas the higher elevations got a lot more than that live shot of half moon, bay. still the fog in place in the overcast skies. in the 40's to near about 50, although that somewhat mild compared to these 30's. we've been having and they're coming back again to when we're done with the rain about let's going forward with that. you can expect for this afternoon. there you have it. rain. heavy at times or at least moderate showers occurring. then by 7.30 or so the rain concentration will be pretty much south of the golden gate bridge is what it looks like. even the north bay a little bit of a break there comes that line. i mentioned as you can see around noon or shortly in the afternoon by tomorrow and this will pick with that much colder air

francisco and out of the south bay a little bit there. more upstream as we're getting the subtropical jet. that means us relatively mild air and with chilly outside with the reigning in all. but it's not that cold front yet. that's due to arrive tomorrow. there it is churning up there in the gulf of alaska and that's going to blow this lower the snow levels and will probably start to see some snow up there in mount hamilton mount diablo after a the system winds down there. you have it on the east bay shoreline. the fog in place and the light rain and places. well, there's our winds of the southeast. this could be a little bit of a shift with the winds. we expect tomorrow with that front bringing in from the north. we do have a wind advisory with all of this that goes into effect at 4 o'clock for today. just about all the bay area's covered except 3 counties up in the north bay there. napa, sonoma and marin technically not enough. but we do see an uptick on those winds, particularly by noon tomorrow. now breaking your day down. pretty simple showers to light rain to a times and bedded moderate rain going on there with that. now,

he's going kit and he's going to do the same thing. >> gets a speedy recovery back here at home, up in the north bay. petaluma police say a 19 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and possessing narcotics to self. police say the suspect ran a red light petaluma boulevard, south and k street right after midnight. when an officer tried to pull him over. he attempted to run off. but the suspect finally stopped at a dead end road after a dui check and search of the car. police say he was driving under the influence of alcohol and is under 21 years of age. there were narcotics in the car as well. person snap and booked into the sonoma county jail. and samara fell police and the school district are investigating a violent threat towards davidson middle school superintendent jim hogan boom sent out an email to parents explaining the threat was made towards the school for tomorrow. monday. december

>> so it you know, in the summer and fall in come in the fall in the winter. you still have the 5 to 7 pounds that you gained last year and it just starts to accumulate. so that's why older adults, you know, they gain it's easy for them to pack on 1015, 20 pounds. yes. stuff and its stubborn weight. they can't really give it up. so a lot of a lot of people end up overeating because they're stressed out. so how can we kind of stop that process or slow it down a little bit. >> yes. so that's the emotional eating. it's emotional time right now. everyone's stressed out and the the one way to to curb the emotional eating is to first recognize that you're doing it. a lot of people don't even realize that they're eating at a stress. >> oftentimes they'll tell me i just can't get rid of my chocolate craving aren't creating chips. i can't stop. i'm so weak. but actually they're not recognizing that they are stir in the eating

added stress. so the first thing to do is just be really mindful and kind of recognize and look at your eating patterns when you're eating emotionally. that comes on very suddenly those cravings just all is said and no, i want to you know, my favorite comfort food, but when you're physiologically, hungry that's very slow. just pay attention to that. well, in a way to reduce your stress levels is too. >> decide what you have to do versus what you want to do. >> yes, this is the the. >> have to do list. very says they want to do listen, i i say try to balance that out. we and i'm guilty of that creating this to do list that just keeps on going on forever and never getting to the things i want to do so i'm saying to reverse that start out with the things you want to do and then work your way down into the things you have

to do. >> and some of those have to do use may not be significant anymore. but if you if you're always doing things that you have to do. it creates resentment. >> anger. >> and just deprivation, which will cause you to eat emotionally. and and that that also kind of goes hand-in-hand with managing your social stressors. because a lot of times, you know, we go to a party, you're >> feel like you have to include yourself in other people's conversations. that sort of thing. but you don't always have to say yes to party invitations, which i think is a little bit difficult for some people to understand yeah. it is difficult to do. but if you and if you put your calendar out at the very beginning of the the. >> the holiday season and start plugging in things that you want to do and schedule even schedule in your exercise time. so if some of these social events, our conflicting

>> from >> the area's local news station. you're watching the kron 00:00am morning news at know. >> good sunday morning to you. thanks for joining us here on the kron 4 morning news. i'm noelle bellow. it is a rainy sunday morning as you can see behind me, we've got a lot of us. lots of water drops on our camera there looking at the bay bridge and it's raining all across the bay when it starts off to get check of your forecast with dave spahr. he's got all the details for us. hey, dave. okay. good morning. well, good morning, everybody. and rain is what you can expect over the next couple of days. a good commitment of that. and we've got some heavier hits expected later on. but for today kind of the rain is going to be kind of off and on type thing between drizzle and a moderate shower going on throughout the day today. we expect those winds to pick up a little bit in the afternoon hours. here's how it looks like an stormtracker 4 at a dust this off a little bit, but it's going to be busy over the next week and they want to get technical about it maybe next couple days into the following week here for holds together.

the aftermath of the devastating tornadoes across the midwest and southeastern united states 36 people are dead across 5 different states and crews are still. >> combing through fields of wreckage searching for missing people officials actually fear the death toll may rise to more than 100 this is some video of destruction in kentucky, a tornado destroying a candle factory killing 22 people there. the governor fearing 70 more people may have been killed there. governor andy beshear touring the damage across the western part of kentucky, including in dawson springs that are the hardest hit towns in the tri-state. mike pickett has the latest. >> dawson springs. residents are starting to get a better sense of the damage caused by yesterday's tornado. this community here in hopkins county. it was one of sever across kentucky that was severely damaged by the tornado. i worked madisonville to want and i work. there were other tornadoes of this. this is stores.

>> a day of cleaning rebuilding and checking on family and friends after a night of destruction, one in particular. got. >> got injured pretty badly. her whole trailer was picked up off the foundation and. she's currently in the hospital. governor beshear declared a state of emergency is sending teams to hard-hit areas and activated the kentucky national guard they will help with cleanup and recovery and search and rescue efforts in hopkins and at least 5 other kentucky counties. one of the concerns that the mayor just shared in particular. >> it is really being able to touch base with a lot of the folks who are out of contact that don't direct communications with governor beshear also said president find the prove their federal emergency declaration request and started that he wants to kentucky tornado relief fund to help tornado victims. >> people who live and work in dawson springs hope the tornado didn't take away for what they say is a special place. want to give up in our community. we don't want anyone to just pack up and

move away. we want people to stay here. this is still a great community. both dawson springs in hopkins county officials are asking people that either don't or don't have any business here in town. the police stay away. so it does not impede with the cleanup and recovery efforts in dawson springs. my pick. it. >> meanwhile, in edwardsville, illinois, 6 people were killed when an amazon warehouse was hit by tornado. this is just southeast of chicago. you can see the look there. the tornado ripped the roof off the warehouse and then a wall about the length of a football field collapsed and trapped workers inside 45 people made it out safely. but investigators say they aren't sure if anyone is still unaccounted for because this all happened in hit during a shift change. so there still trying to get all of the details there. meanwhile, in arkansas 2 people were killed due to the storms. one of them was among folks inside a nursing home near memphis when the tornado hit. officials say 20 people were trapped during

point out santa cruz mountains, you get that typical up sloping anyway. but that's going to be playing out and and big time for today. so we may see some localized flooding going on there. the national weather service has been talking a little bit about that. but what will happen by 6 or so is the concentration of the heaviest rain will exit the north bay on balance a little bit up the solano county but will favor more. the east bay peninsula and the santa cruz mountains a little bit. also a possibility is when that colder air funding gets in here. might get a little dusting potentially some of the higher tops there and the santa cruz mountains as well, ok, that's the big was mentioning here. and a new national say this is going to be also a driver. some winds. it will then march on through with heavy rain in bed with all of that. then we clear out on the north bay yet again by uc tuesday on that. and we're starting to approach that little break that we get until second little those to kind of finish off the week a little bit as well. winds out of the southeast. we are or the south because we're still waiting for that front. that's going to change everything

going to drive winds. now, the advisory kicks in today at 4 o'clock is a formality. and then the really heavy winds. you can see with that front coming here by monday and really into monday afternoon as well. see the onshore flow that we get after the front starts to drop towards the south, not roll long lasting and then it goes back to the breezy like conditions that we're experiencing now. rain and winds today, wind advisory for by the way, rain breaks early on monday. there's just a little window there. and then that line marches south into the afternoon for most of the bay there. that's the heavy winds and the heavy rain mid to late week here. there's a break early on wednesday. then we fire about again wednesday night into thursday. but what's nice is next like it's going to clear out temporarily longer range. we're going to this thing again a little bit for rainfall. total collection thus far. you know, about a 10th of an inch of rain got about a dime little bit more than that. we're going to add to that from that point and some cases to quarters of an inch of rain, then comes that front. we had even more over an inch of rain. that's on top

rain that will sometimes be moderate pockets here and there. but then very light in other depending on the time of day that you're looking where you are. this is what it looks like on radar to get kind of a snapshot. actually, it looks like it's becoming very, very modest here. most of the areas opening up think most of the north bay. it's hardly see anything outside of southern marin. a little bit in the san francisco in a little pocket there around fremont and off towards the east bay a bit. so this is all the subtropical jet. there's yet another line upstream that will drive heavier rains that will be for your monday now probably around the noon hour or so and driving some hefty kind of breezy going on here. and the winds kind of variable or out of the south as you will notice and some places like pacifica good offshore wind going on there at 33 notice 13 out of san francisco in a bottle. but we do have a wind advisory that's been posted this goes into effect at 4 o'clock today counting solano county up there in the north bay. the 3 other counties are not in this napa sonoma and are in a look at the

tornadoes touched down in multiple states. one of those tornadoes. >> ripping through an amazon warehouse in edwardsville, illinois. it's about 4 hours southwest of chicago. that storm killed 6 people at the amazon delivery facility. an additional 45 people did make it out safely. but rescue operations have now shifted to recovery operations. jasmine huda has more from edwardsville. well, that is the amazon facility over my left shoulder and the damage there is significant. >> we're talking a 150 yards. so think one and a half football fields. but the big loss is the loss of life. 6 people killed and more sad news to report. >> this is a tragic day in illinois history. the illinois governor's summing up what has been a chaotic terrifying and traumatic event with more days like this to follow the images from bommarito automotive group skyfox telling the story

at about 8.30, friday evening. a tornado tore through this amazon facility on gateway commerce center drive south 6 people died. 45 made it out safely. one remains hospitalized and another sobering piece of news rescue operations have ended and have shifted to recovery continuing to search the site for evidence of life and will continue recovery operations until all personnel are accounted for. >> but this time estimates or the recovery portion of the it will take about 3 more days. if you'd like to deliver food and water. we're recommending the red cross. the salvation army. i can say the most important thing you can do is pray for the victims. and their families. edwardsville police want families to know that a reunification center remains open at the nearby pontoon beach. police department if their loved ones missing. we are still out to him. >> in the meantime, few details about who was inside this facility and where if anywhere they were sheltered

can tell stories. so i have like 5 different monologues. i call it the mount everest of memorization to have done it. and the monologues. i just sublimely beautiful. >> and they're not all happy by any means because some terrible things that happened. >> to beauregard in those times. so it's just the most beautiful, beautiful with a great deal of sentiment, without any 7 mentality, a great deal of humor because beauregard pretty funny. guy and it's it's a lovely place. i when i when i saw the script, i just thought, well, i have to do this that's all. and amazing the audience sits in rapt attention for these stories. really wonderful. a lot of touching moment. it looks like a lot of fun accents. if you're talking someone from the south and inland. and that's kind of fun to see. i know it's been a little over a week since the

show opened how has it been getting back out on stage since everything was, you know, shut down well, yes. >> it's been i frankly never thought. >> i would do anything again and certainly through the pandemic that seem to. so if i that thought and then this script came along. and i thought, well, it's the last thing i do is the one i'm going to do and it's just first of all, being on stage with daniel danny redmond davies who plays my boyfriend rufus. it's heaven. he's one of those actors where you just there present with him. stuff happens in the course of the of the performance. and we just go with that. we got the ball back and forth he's fantastic and he is a british about the accident. i had to work with the an accident coach to get into all and but beauregard has not lived in new orleans for 40 years. so.
