>> from the bay area's local news station. we now with breaking news. >> thanks for joining us here this morning. i'm noelle bellow. we begin with breaking news of a deadly shooting out of sacramento. at least 6 people are dead and at least 9 others injured. the shooting happened in downtown sacramento early this morning. police say officers in the area were alerted by the sound of gunshots. according to sacramento police, 9th street to 13th street between l and jay streets are closed right now as they continue to investigate right now. no suspect in custody at this point. as you can see in this

video, this scene is just blocks away from the capitol building of the police are asking for the public. if you have any information on this, please let them know because again, no suspect in custody. officers are asking the public to avoid traveling to that part of downtown sacramento. again, it's just a couple of blocks away from the capitol building. we do have kron four's camila barco headed to the scene right now. we've been looking at some on twitter earlier this large crowds of people running to to escape that gunfire that rang out very early this morning. we'll continue to follow this and bring you the latest information as we receive it. first and foremost, we do want to now get you a check of your forecast. dave spahr is standing by with a look. dave, i know it's not going to be as warm today. i believe that it was yesterday. >> yeah, good well, good morning, everybody. we're looking for a little bit of an onshore wind to kind of control temperatures this afternoon live shot of the

east bay shoreline. a little bit. the haze going on for this morning that fog checking in as that's not going to be long lived. however, for today, we should see quite a bit of sunshine. most the traffic up to the north that's driving this drop in temperatures and those onshore winds. right now we're standing at 41 santa rosa 40's along the east bay shoreline. any all kind of the warm number at 55. 52. meanwhile, for san jose. contrast to 24 hours ago. we are little cooler. all ready to start even places like solano county. now later on today, the action may be a little warmer than where not be affected as much by this onshore wind event. later on negative 3 behind. you can see for concord and much the same. elsewhere are a little warmer down the peninsula as well. 66 at 11 by 2. we're talking 74 as an addendum. probably see a few little passing clouds in there for today. but the bigger issue will be those winds on shore. they will. and we'll get into little bit more of that coming up in just a bit. noel.

>> thank you, dave. now to the developed latest developments out of ukraine. russia's top negotiator says it's too early to talk about a meeting between the 2 countries. presidents. the negotiator led the russian delegation and peace talks yesterday in istanbul, turkey. he says both sides have a lot to work. a lot of work to do to finalize a draft agreement. the deal would make ukraine adopt a neutral status and refrain from holding foreign military bases in exchange for international security guarantees. ukraine would also have to acknowledge russia's sovereignty over crimea and recognize the independence of russia-backed separatist regions in don bus. now, ukraine's negotiator said russia informally agreed to most of their proposals, but president volodymyr zelensky says to be wary of russian promises because they could be a smokescreen. negotiations are set to continue tomorrow. meanwhile, here at home, the or excuse me. meanwhile, the international red cross will make another attempt to enter

mariupol after being forced away from entry continued russian shelling and bombings there have destroyed that city. the relief organization is hoping to help evacuate ukrainians along the corridor. there was a previous evacuation attempt back in early march, but it failed multiple times because of attacks making it unsafe for people to leave. shelters. back here at home, a latino organization in half moon bay is doing its part to try and help those ukrainian refugees raising more than $11,000 for ukraine relief by making tamales people who put in orders last week with the company, a loss. we'll be able to start picking up their orders in just a couple of hours or spots in half moon bay, hillsborough, menlo park and berkeley. it did take 25 volunteer several days to make all the tamales and all those proceeds. we'll go to support ukrainian refugees, the on the ground meal distribution network of the world, central kitchen. there's other help

here at home as well as san francisco woman is raising some money for her father's elementary school in romania. that's where her father and his students are staying after they fled ukraine. kron four's gayle ong has that story. on the first day. we're anticipating 80 students and 227. sure about. >> with the help of volunteers and a co guns, father paul, though, kogan opened this one room media for ukrainian refugee children. hogan, a former software engineer in the bay area went back to ukraine in 2010 to run an independent preschool and elementary school hogan fled ukraine with his teachers and staff after bombs began to fall and february eve, they found a romanian school that offered space for free school for these children. you know, there's really nowhere for them to >> and, you know, there. it kind of thing this new country alone, but their mothers and their fathers are, you know, back in ukraine and there, you

worried about people who may throw caution to the wind. health experts at uc san francisco say good news for this year is the omicron surge has calmed down bad news. it's not gone for good. meanwhile, some students and staff at schools in san francisco will not have to mask up tomorrow as they return from spring break. the district's mask mandate was lifted yesterday. the change applies to elementary k through 8 and early education schools. school district officials say they decided to ease covid-19 safety requirements due to declining case numbers in san francisco. the district says masking is going to be strongly recommended but not required prior to spring 123,000 rapid at-home covid-19. test kits. we're also distributed to teachers and students in the district. they hope that the students and staff will test themselves before returning to school tomorrow. more and more counties across the state, meanwhile, are doing away with the proof of vaccination rules, but is those mandates

are being lifted here in california. a new poll shows a majority of californians actually support keeping some of those restrictions in place. the public policy institute surveyed nearly 1700 people have fallen ill with norovirus here in california after eating raw oysters at 9 different restaurants, the california department of health says cases were reported between march 11th through the 19th state. health officials believe the cases are linked to oysters from british columbia, canada. they have not yet been recalled. canada reported 279 cases of norovirus and gastrointestinal cases linked to those oysters may be to clear those ice or state. >> okay. does look like it

news of a mass shooting out of sacramento. police are searching for the person who opened fire around 02:00am in downtown sacramento, killing 6 people, injuring at least 10 officers were nearby when they heard gunfire. when they arrived, they found a large crowd gathered around the 6 victims who died and then 10 others were. they're transported or got themselves to the hospital. here's an idea of where this is. it's not far from capitol park just blocks from the capitol building, as you can see in that video, 9th and 13th streets are closed between l and jay streets. so police are asking folks to avoid that the officials there on the scene say it's a very complex and complicated scene. so again, if you are thinking of heading it in that direction do not do so. our kron four's camila barco is headed there to the scene. we' e going to have live updates from her later on throughout the show as we continue to follow this breaking news out of sacramento. it is time for

another check of your weather forecast back here at home. dave spahr standing by. we've got a little bit of fog out there this morning, dave. yeah, it's kind of a thin haze going on. i want to give you this perspective. also the golden gate we'll see a nice afternoon, though. but a bit on the breezy side. it will be this afternoon. that's going to be take the edge off those temperatures this afternoon. >> again, the east bay shoreline, you can see some sun just starting to make its way peer through. and then the golden gate bridge. there's the blue skies flag flapping a little bit. so we have a little bit of a breeze, but it's going to pick up much more. so on short will be will be the rule of thumb here. >> and really being driven by this frolt, up towards our north. not really a rain producer, although monday morning, maybe some sprinkles way up towards the north. we're watching stuff upstream. that does look pretty interesting. the we get into the following week temperature check for you right now. we're at 41 santa rosa. most readings in the 40's, san francisco about 50, you know, have all this moisture or the water around so that marine layer is not usually too far from home. and lest you have a good, strong, offshore wind to correct that handing it back

one man is dead and another injured after being shot in the bayview. it happened friday around the area of 3rd street and palou avenue near the bayview opera house. we have video of the scene from citizen app. officers say they found a 21 year-old and 29 year-old man who had both been shot. they were taken to the hospital where the 21 year-old died. the 29 year-old is expected to be okay. their identities have not yet been released. police say no arrests have been made and police haven't released any information on a possible suspect. hikers and dog walkers are going to notice more coyotes around in san francisco. this is video of some of the coyote seen recently in parts of the bay area. right now it's popping season for the animals. san francisco, i want you to keep your pet safe. so a portion of hiking trails in the presidio are going to be closed to all dogs starting this week. we do have a map showing those closures. the restrictions will stretch from mountain lake to the presidio

promenade, along with the bay ridge trail from the rob hill campground to the presidio golf course. those closures are going to last through early september. that's when coyote pupping season will end. california is experiencing one of the driest starts to spring in decades. that's word from state officials who say without a heavy dose of spring showers, the state's drought will continue to deepen. new readings show california's mountain snowpack is just 39% of the average for this time of year records show. that's the lowest since the end of the last drought in 2015 and only the 3rd time since 1988 that it's that that low start conserving that water right now. all right. still ahead, the ongoing fight for equal rights for transgender people gets a big push this week. >> well, the same time more states try to roll back their rights. even more details coming up.

that extended to because a heat spike is a common noel. thank you, dave mountain view. police are investigating another death possibly linked to fentanyl poisoning. this one. >> hitting the community, especially hard early friday morning, a student was found unresponsive in their home and later pronounced dead kron four's. amanda hari spoke with officials about why fentanyl poisoning is a bigger issue now than ever before. while fentanyl poisoning is hitting out to his high school community, particularly hard right now. >> officials tell me it's a region-wide concern. they say the tiniest bit could be laced and other narcotics or drugs and it could be fatal. i think it's early friday morning, a loose out to the student was found unresponsive in their home. >> when police arrived, they determined they were dead mountain view. police public information. officer katie nelson says this is still an open investigation, but based on items found at the scene, they believe it could be a

fentanyl poisoning. the thing about and all that parents need to be aware of is it can be in in anything that a student. >> or anyone can really have in their possession. nelson says police want to get this message out there to potentially save other lives, at least try to ensure that at least as many people as possible knew about this. so that in the event that there were other narcotics out there, that they would be able to. >> either pay have parents talk with their kids or have students who may be in the twice. doctor christopher caldwell is chief of emergency medicine at zuckerberg, san francisco general hospital. >> he says he's been in emergency medicine for 25 years, but never has faced the challenges that fentanyl is presenting the they're being. >> added tainted with fentanyl is so much higher because shore billable, it's relatively inexpensive and it could be almost anything. he also says it's very potent and a little goes a long way. so

breaking news. >> good sunday morning to you. we're following breaking news of a mass shooting in downtown sacramento this morning. 6 people are dead and at least 10 people were injured when shots rang out very early this morning. kron four's camila barco joining us live now from the scene with the very latest information. camila. >> yes, i are currently in downtown sacramento where police have blocked off several streets as they continue to investigate what led up to the shooting. and they are also trying to find out the person responsible, claiming the lives of those 6 people and injuring 10 others. as you can see, there is caution tape surrounding this area. we're currently at the corner of and 9th history. and you, as i said, you can see crime tape surrounding the area and in far down the street, you can also see several vehicles where they

are investigating this shooting. now, take a look at this map. officers have blocked off 9 to 13 street between street and jay street. and this is just 2 or 3 blocks away from the capitol while at this time. we don't have an exact location as to where this shooting took place, but it this whole perimeter has been blocked off you. this is video from earlier this morning after the shooting. sacramento police say their officers were patrolling this area. about 2 o'clock this morning when they heard shots fired when they got to the area, they found a large crowd surrounding the bodies of the 6 people who died. police say that the other 10 people who were injured were taken to the hospital. they did not get any information as to how they're doing or the circumstances surrounding the shooting. and police don't know how many people were involved in the shooting, but sacramento police is asking for the public's help in this investigation. they say that

having are you gaining weight? are you getting sick off? and these are all signs of chronic stress. so number one, personality, inpatient, that is so person really sticks out. interesting. so that's the person definitely going to be more stress prone. yes. so this is a person that, you know, other people aren't moving fast enough working fast enough and just doing things fast enough. so creating that inner stress. and it's not only stressing themselves, but they're creating stress on putting that stress and other people, you know, the people they're trying to push a lot have so not not good at all. on the other hand, people who are perfectionists also stressed stressed problem. >> right, right. this is a person that has to be everything has to be perfect. and if it's not perfect, it's stressful to them. it's creating anxiety. and, you

know, we just can't be perfect. it's just never going to happen. you know, when and these are the people that should be celebrating there, their accomplishments verses, they'll tend to feel some level of defeat because it wasn't perfect definitely check that this one. i have a person like this in my life who is always on the go. they slyke to say it's because they like alternative stress, you know, work stresses them out. so then they have to go do something else to kind of offset the work stress, but then sometimes end up some of the yeah, with their other activities. >> yeah, always on the go going from jumping from one project to the next and really never getting time to decompress. and it's not so much the active always being busy. that stats hazardous. it's the fact that they they're constantly pushing themselves and this is they actually have a name for this. this is called deadly stress

camila, what do you know so far? >> yeah, well, no. also we're currently on the corner of k and 9th street here in downtown sacramento. as you can see behind me, there's plenty of caution tape. police officers are still here on scene trying to figure out what happened now. know when we last spoke, i told you about a mother who had been here who has been here for several hours trying to get some information about her side. she was told that person was here earlier this morning and a few moments ago, detectives did pull her and the rest of her family under this caution tape took from her reaction. looks like her son was one of the victims. now we can't confirm it for her son was one of the people who was injured or one of the people who died. but it has been an emotional day for several families. a lot of people have been standing by waiting around to see who the victims were. what exactly happened. but if i step out of

the way to get a better look as to what the scene looks like, you could see several police officers here. plenty of caution tape. and like i said, this is in downtown sacramento. there are plenty of restaurants i did see on the map said there are a few nightclubs. it is unclear where exactly the shooting happened, for it. but from speaking from people here we go around. it looks like the shooting happened outside here in downtown sacramento. but here's a map of where exactly we are like. i said, we're currently on the corner of k and 9th street officers have blocked off 9th to 13th street between l and j street. and this is just 2 or 3 blocks away from the capitol. you're also taking a look at video from earlier this morning. sacramento police say that their officers were patrolling this area around 2 o'clock this morning when they heard shots fired when they got to this area, they found a large crowd surrounding the bodies of the 6 people who died.

week. well. >> thank you, dave. now to the latest developments out of ukraine. russia's top negotiator says it's too early right now to talk about a mieting between the 2 countries, presidents, the negotiator, deadly the russian delegation in peace talks yesterday in istanbul, turkey. he says both sides have a lot to work. a lot of work to do to finalize a draft agreement. the deal would make ukraine adopt a neutral status and refrain from holding foreign military bases in exchange for international security guarantees. ukraine would also have to acknowledge russia's sovereignty over crimea and recognize the independence of russia-backed separatists regions and donned us. now, ukraine's negotiator says russia did informally agreed to most of their proposals, but president volodymyr zelensky is wary. he says a russian promises could be a smokescreen. negotiations are set to continue tomorrow. meanwhile, the international red cross is going to make

another attempt to enter the area of mariupol now as they were forced away from entry, continued russian shelling and bombings had destroyed that city. the relief organization is hoping to help evacuate those ukrainians that are left along some sort of safe corridor. there were previous evacuation attempts back in early march, but those failed because of attacks making making it unsafe for people to leave the shelters. back here at home, a latino organization in half moon bay is doing its part to help. they've raised more than $11,000 for ukraine relief by making tamales. now people who put in orders last week with the company are starting to pick up their orders this morning. they're picking them up in half. moon bay and hillsborough, menlo park and berkeley. it took 25 volunteer several days to make all those tamales on all the proceeds will go towards supporting ukrainian refugees. the on-the-ground meal distribution network of the

returning from spring break and the district's mask mandate has been lifted. the change applies to those elementary k through 8 and early education school staff and students. district officials say they decided to ease those covid-19 safety requirements because of declining case numbers in san francisco. the district says masking will still be strongly recommended. it's just no longer required prior to spring break 123,000 rapid at-home covid-19. test kits were distributed to teachers and students so that they can test themselves before they return to school tomorrow. more and more counties across the state are doing away with the proof of vaccination rules. but as those mandates are being lifted, a new poll actually shows a majority of californians support keeping some of those restrictions in place. the public policy institute surveyed nearly 1700 adult statewide. they found 57% favor requiring proof of covid vaccination to be able to enter restaurants, bars,

>> welcome back. we are continuing to follow breaking news of that mass shooting in sacramento. that happened very early this morning. 6 people are dead, at least 10 others are injured. kron four's camila barco joining us live now at the scene. camila, i know a lot of families are starting to now come to this scene. there. >> yeah, you know, it's it's emotional day for many families as they try to figure out if one of their loved ones was are one of the victims in this all just a few minutes ago, we did see one man cross this caution tape. he was wearing a security guard. sure he passes. caution tape went all the way to the officers saying, quote, let me see my sign. we weren't able to hear any more of the conversation with the officers, but it's just one example has to the scene here this morning with family they are trying to get answers to see if their loved
