shoreline here that will break up to a mostly sunny afternoon, however, so give that a little time to do its magic temperature. check for you. >> 50's over most of the region got 47 going on for santa rosa. 56 san jose. 57 going on for antioch temperature. change. contrast for you. trailing a couple degrees in some spots. but we really have the brush up cooler air moving through yesterday. so those effect still being felt in its wake. there's a little bit of moisture left over. that does pop a little bit this afternoon will be getting more into that later on the breakdown for you today. again, taking care of fog clouds from the morning. we going to mostly sunny mode, although temperatures very modest through the 70's over the regional have more on that coming up in a bit. stephanie. >> thanks very much, dave. our top story this morning. one man is behind bars after police say he attacked 3 people at sfo. we're getting a live look at the airport right now of this incident did happen last night in the international terminal. the man used a weapon to injure his victims. and eyewitnesses say it looks like a large

knife. 3 people were treated for minor cuts and scrapes and were able to continue on with their travels. the attacks did not impact flights or other airport operations. santa clara county sheriff's deputies arrested a vta worker who they say threatened to gun violence at work. the sheriff's office identified him as 64 year-old douglas last room. he's now behind bars in the santa clara county jail held without bail on charges of criminal threats. union president john courtney says the man made the threats because he was apparently at risk of being fired after refusing to get vaccinated. the vta issued a statement saying, quote, the vta has 0 tolerance for this type of threatening behavior and we'll continue to treat any similar incident with an urgent response. it's been just over a year since a vta employee shot and killed 9 workers and then himself at the railyard in san jose after this most recent incident, trauma

should wrap around 2 in the afternoon. organizers telling people to plan ahead, make sure you get there early. you can try to take some public transit market street will close on sunday night to get everything ready for the big day. so make sure you plan for that as well. kron 4 will have extended coverage of the parade starting at 10 p am on monday. we'll show the championship ceremony which starts at 10:20am, and bring you coverage from the parade. start to finish. so make sure you mark calendars for that. happening today. the alameda county fair is back in person for the first time since the start of the pandemic. we have kron fours camila barco live for us at the fair. taking a look at all the fun stuff there is to do there this weekend looks like you're having some fun with some games there. camila. stephanie, i've been playing ring toss pitta last 5 minutes. i have not made one at at all. >> this is pretty difficult,

but a little addicting. actually, this is just one of the few games here. >> alameda county fairgrounds. there's so much that people can do this weekend. it is opening weekend here at the alameda county fairgrounds. and here to talk about it all is tiffany could dress. she is with the fairgrounds and there's a lot of attractions, lot of games. what can people do and what can people expect? there are so many fun and exciting things here at the alameda county fair this summer, so much in store. we're in the carnival right now. as you can see, there's lots of fun and exciting games. we also, of course, have >> rides everything from that speed racers to a slower pace rides like the bears village i i we have a kids part which is really been for the little guys. so there's really something for everyone in the carnival to enjoy it. and you also talked about some events but sides going on the rise. but sides playing ring toss. >> there's some people that there's some things that people can look forward to seeing. >> there are so many things

that people can look forward to doing experiencing and seeing here at the fair we have, of course, our pig races back this summer. we could not have a summer without pig races. so we're so excited that we we have them back this year. we have course racing happening, which is really exciting. and of course we have at the max moto cross, which is really, really cool to watch a new one of those things you must see to believe. we imperial knights jousting show every day, which is summit. absolutely so entertaining. and just one of those things you have to see upto believe. and of course, ou nightly concerts which are big o tires concert series did not disappoint. we have so many exciting bands tonight. we have neon trees which we're so excited to have and there's is truly something for everyone this summer that you can find anything you are looking for. you can find it here and how can people actually come here? i know last year there were some fares that wanted for people to buy their tickets online. how are you guys going

>> happening today, officials meet with the cdc to discuss approving a covid vaccine for kids under 5. if it is approved, shots could start going into arms as early as next week in the south bay, santa clara county is already getting ready to administer those vaccines. >> the shipments of the vaccine may be arriving as

a very common event that we tend to see a lot of times in the summer months we get some moisture trapped up there in the mid layers of the atmosphere to get daytime heating, get some air mass showers. and then of course, we lose the daytime heating and it goes away. but for on balance, we're looking at mostly sunny today and into your sunday. moving up. those temperatures, though, tomorrow looks like quick check of the winds. again, as we add heating here comes those onshore winds. good coverage everywhere in the 20's into the teens as well. kind of refreshing brees protected by that heap to bump that we had from last week's of putting it all together for your morning clouds. we still clearing and mild today. call it the coast. 60 ish 70's inland that we bump those 70's to 80's going on for tomorrow, for the inland valleys and then hot and sunny into next week. looks like our heat. spike is due on tuesday. 100 plus is expected. maybe a little bit left over on wednesday, too. 65 san francisco, breezy, mostly sunny, 70, going on for open 72 san jose. but even in those inland spots looks like middle 70's mean to santa rosa

popping about 78. but not too bad. warming up a bit more so on sunday, but we'll have more and the 4 zone forecast and check out that extended with the heat spike. stephanie, thanks very much. dave. >> for your money this morning, americans are still struggling with prices at the pump. kron four's ella sogomonian breaks down the response now from lawmakers. >> gas prices in northern california dropped between a penny or 2 per gallon, but it still hovering at about $6. and $0.42. >> any movement down is significant because we really haven't seen any numbers decrease since early in. may. >> meanwhile, a group of 13 assembly democrats sent a letter to the governor and legislative leaders saying the cost of doing nothing is unacceptable. they're urging that the state postpone a $0.3 inflationary increase to the state's gas tax for one year. republicans have been calling for that temporary suspension for months saying their counterparts have taken too long to act on relief for

california's drivers. need action now. we've been calling since january. >> to suspend the gas tax. the quickest. easiest way to provide relief to every california consumer on gas prices. >> right now, the group noting that californians are paying an average of one $1.80 more per gallon of gas than they were 4 months ago. a nearly 40% increase in a short amount of time. so aaa recommends doing a few things to help get the most mileage out of your gas. make sure tires are fully inflated. make one efficient trip to minimize getting around and slow down. >> that was kron four's ella sogomonian reporting for us now. let's take a look at prices across the bay area. napa, the most expensive with an average of $6. and $0.63 san francisco, the second most expensive that $6 and $0.57 in. sandra fell santa rosa, oakland and san jose. all hovering around the $6.50. mark. not cheap at all.

meanwhile, in dc the biden administration is weighing several proposals to help people with the high cost of gas. officials are reportedly taking another look at gas rebate cards for millions of americans. but according to one person familiar with this debate, that's unlikely because of several challenges. one would be getting emergency funding from congress and another is having enough chips for the cards because of the chip shortage. white house staffers are also looking into invoking the defense production act to encourage more fuel production. u.s. energy secretary jennifer granholm called an emergency meeting with oil executives that's scheduled to happen next week. this comes as president biden is calling on the companies to boost production. anna wiernicki is in washington with more. >> president biden is urging top oil executives to cooperate with bringing down prices at the

>> that's what the plans in a letter to top executives thena'slageoil companies, president biden says he is considering invoking emergency powers if they don't boost their supply. we're hopeful we're optimistic we're willing to work with this administration. frank mackey with the american petroleum institute says he welcomes the partnership if it results in action, but they need to not just change their rhetoric. >> they need to change their policies. mackey says since president biden's first day in office he is introduced policies restricting american oil and gas companies from doing their jobs. >> it cut off pipeline projects. they proposed tax increases on american producers competing globally. we need to change course on those policies with average gas prices now at $5 per gallon texas republican senator ted cruz says the upcoming conversation should have happened months ago. biden is desperately trying to blame anyone else because suddenly the white house is discovered. >> people like spending 100

>> welcome back. former president donald trump unleashed another attack on his former vice president criticizing mike pence again for refusing to interfere with the certification of the 2020 election results during a speech in nashville. trump also blasting the committee investigating the january 6 attack. christina pascucci takes a look at the former president's reaction >> afternoon, former president trump made his first public response to the january 6 committee hearings addressing evangelical groups in nashville's road to majority conference. very vicious. >> people just like crazy. liz cheney removed the part of my quote where i urge people to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard. he blasted various lawmakers,

spahr standing by in our weather center with more on what we need to know about conditions outside. hey, dave. okay. good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. some leftover fog clouds you can see start to break up a little bit sore, basically going to go into the mostly sunny mode on balance for today, but much cooler than we >> from last week, good onshore. wind will be checking into this afternoon. there you have the east bay shoreline and the puppy cumulus. what's left over of that fog moisture in kind of squint and see a little bit of the flow pattern above us is kind of a northwesterly and then out to sea. it's a good strong on shore when that we will get later today. compliments of some inland heating and that we will get we check in the current surface winds there. you pretty much directly out of the west to get hit up against the hills over the east bay hills. and they move around a little bit here. however, we expect another heat spike later this week and expect some advisories will be had in some heat warnings potentially with that to mid to upper 50's over a lot of the region for right now. some lower 50's up to the north bay. 47 santa rosa. 56 going

on for san jose breakdown today. again, some just leftover fog clouds just a little bit here. temperature movement into the 70's well inland. that's going to pop into the 80's for tomorrow. but on balance, a pretty nice spring-like weekend as we walk again into summer next week. coming up, more on that long-range forecast along with your 4 zone 2. stephanie, thanks very much. dave. >> now to a big story we're following out of the east bay. back to this. a worrier celebration turning deadly in oakland. we have kron four's haaziq who spoke with city officials about their plans to help bring an end to the violence. here's his report. >> man died in a shooting thursday night in the 300 block of 14th street in downtown oakland. it happened just before 10:30pm. the investigation appears to be centered around the location of the halftime sports bar where people gather to watch the warriors played the celtics in game 6 of the nba finals. oakland police officials say officers and paramedics provided medical aid to the shooting that them but he eventually died at the

scene from his injuries. investigators also found that adult female with multiple gunshot wounds. she was taken to a local hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition. according to police. there are more victims in the shooting. >> oakland police say not long after the female was hoalized hfo injie itnal n ioarvl hopil,alsoufring prelinarinveatn sts. the confirmed the 3 men were also injured during the same shooting that occurred on 14th street. >> yet last night was a horrible tragedy in downtown oakland. shortise fromnd city hall. oakland mayor libby shaft talked about a violence reduction plan involving community-focused events at city parks called town nights. it was developed by the department of violence prevention an age to reduce gun violence this summer, a time when the city typically experiences a surge in shootings. >> town nights has come out of good evidence and data that

looks at when gun violence tends to go up and that's summer and weekend evenings. and that's why these events are on friday night during the summer. we have data from los angeles that shows that this can dramatically reduce gun of >> violence. oakland police investigators released no information regarding any possible suspects or motives in the 14th street shooting the name of the deceased victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. anyone with information is asked to contact oakland police has it you cry on for news. >> and this weekend marks the start of many juneteenth celebrations and the city of oakland is taking steps to avoid the violence that impacted last year's events. large crowds are expected sunday at lake merritt in oakland and last year was started as a peaceful gathering ended in gunfire when rival gangs from outside the area opened fire. one person was killed and 6 others

injured. local police this year plan to ramp up resources in the area. >> juneteenth or goal is to provide a venue until around the community in or visitors to enjoy the festivities of the weekend safely will be more police officers out there as well city resources. we officers working the lake and the nearby and additional resources in reserve in reserve. in case we do have to respond in a critical lens. >> the city of oakland is closing lakeshore avenue between macarthur and east 18th as well as several streets that feed into the lakeshore area. they're also closing the embarcadero and a single eastbound lane along grand avenue. so do take that into account when making your plans today. in national news, there is a push in washington, d.c., to increase pay and benefits to airport workers across the country. our

washington, d.c., correspondent basil john explains. the new bill introduced by democrats in the senate. >> i have no idea how hard it would be. >> with millions of americans relying on them. airport workers say they are overworked and underpaid. i would pretty job. i never see my kid. i 3 in the morning and i come back home of my party downgrade to sell it. >> massachusetts democratic senator and marcie believes airport workers deserve better just as airplanes don't fly without pilots. our aviation system would collapse without import service workers. that's why he introduced a bill that requires federally funded airports to set a higher wage and benefit standard for airport workers as well as allow workers to establish a union. senate majority leader chuck schumer warns airport and travelers will suffer unless airport workers get what they deserve. paying airport workers, a living wage benefits, consumers cause.

the howard terminal be released from port priority use so that a new ballpark can be built there. they'll have their final vote on june 30th. if the commission approves than the planning process continues for the a's to move to howard terminal, if it's a no and the project is over, according to mayor libby shaft, she's confident that ahe commission will give the green light since the project isn't just about baseball, 400 room hotel, a new performing arts center, 3,000 units of housing and the parks. she says 1000 of those units will be dedicated to affordable housing a's. president dave kaval agreed to have 50% of the housing on-site be affordable in exchange for tax money generated a term that the city rejected. they put out a proposal that does not work for us, but we will be giving them an alternative idea very soon. mayor schaff says the ballpark itself at howard terminal will cost around 1 billion dollars to build and will be paid for by the a's. she's heard estimates of around 12 billion dollars for the entire project if approved by the commission. the next people will be july

5th when city council members will decide if an advisory measure will be on the ballot in november, letting the voters decide where the a's play ball. in my opinion, this is a ploy by the opposition to just further spread the misinformation as well as to delay the project and really to cost the taxpayers money. according to the port of oakland, it's been nearly a decade since a tenant occupy power terminal. this is land that people should enjoy. mayor schaff was just in washington, d.c., to advocate for 183 million dollar infrastructure grant that will help oakland with water front improvements, including improvements that would be made at howard terminal. i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. and a pretty mild day today expected for saturday. not too bad for sunday as well as we look for temperatures in the mid to potentially upper 70's with that. we'll check out that in your 4 zone forecast and take a look at the extended. >> into next week, the kron 4 morning news continues.

you, dave. >> our top story this morning. one man is behind bars after police say he attacked 3 people at sfo. it happened last night at the international terminal. like we're getting a live look right now at the airport. now we know that the man used a weapon to injure his victims. and eyewitnesses say it looks like a large knife. 3 people were treated for minor cuts and scrapes and were able to continue on with their travels. the attacks did not impact flights or other airport operations. santa clara county sheriff's deputies arrested a vta worker who they say threatened gun violence at work. the sheriff's office identified him as 64 year-old douglas lot. douglas he's now behind bars in the santa clara county jail held without bail on charges of criminal threats. union president john courtney says the man made the threats because he apparently was at risk of being fired after refusing to get vaccinated. the vta issuing a statement

enjoy that music. enjoy that a theater going experience. but following that performance, we have pride night and pride night is a chance for the community to come together for us to celebrate our lgbtq community. we're going to have games. we're going to have a pride contest for best dressed haas. 2 people should calm like prepared for that. and we're going all sort of activities and giveaways and the most important part is is that we're going to have community, you know, it's been a hole through the pandemic we've all been working remotely it. there's something to be said about being in person about being in community about laughing together, about sharing art and music. and so this is a really exciting time. we're really thrilled and speak to us about the significance of bringing the community together, especially for the first time of and in since the pandemic. and given everything that's going on in the world right now. that's i mean, we

have returned to the theater with to oppose this summer. >> dream of the red chamber, don giovanni and after being out for years and for. >> for us, the people who produce art on the stage for our community with our artists. it's been very difficult. it's been very challenging. so to return to the theater and to be reconnected to the art form that, you know, it's so inspiring is really important. this is also a chance. like i said before, too, a look at over ways in which we can invite community in in all their diverse manifestations. right? we want people to feel welcome in the upper house no matter where they come from, no matter what walk of life, they're part of and find their way into this music in into this are into civic, a civic, you of art and it. >> i love to speak with you a bit about your work leading diversity initiatives at the opera as well. there doesn't seem to be quite as much

representation of from you know, demographics, people of color in the arts. so how is your team working to change that at the opera? well, thank you for asking that question. you know, upper is an incredible art form into western art form. but we know that as it's represented here in this country and around the world, it could be more diverse. it could be more inclusive. >> and so, yes, the team in the department of diversity, equity and community works with our leaders, worked with artists, works with. >> all the all the different elements of the opera to look at. not only the ways in which we can increase representation among our staff. but among our artist and among our audience. and so we are we have held trainings, monthly trainings on diversity on equity, understanding, white privilege for the entire length of the pandemic. of the few organizations to do that, you know, sustained really meaningful way. and, you know, it's hard to change a huge art form like this overnight. so it takes time and it takes

everyone to be committed and invested in that. and we're so lucky to have a leader who believes in this work really supports it wholeheartedly. >> we speak to the value of seeing diversity reflected in artists on the stage. oh, my god. i think every i think young people deserve the opportunity to see themselves in every walk of life to see themselves as professionals to see themselves as artists to see themselves represented. >> in all these different art forms. it's really important to us. it's important to the art form that we're doing, the work we're doing in schools and in communities so that we're creating capacity for the artist of the future for the really audiences of the future. and so that everybody has an equal opportunity to participate, whatever art form they're drawn to that. >> did you personally also experience challenges for yourself as an artist trying to, you know, build your own

career year-old professional career and not seeing many people who maybe look like you. >> yeah, that's that's true. you know, it's a challenge. you know, when you are one of the first, you know, at this point was when the first people to be named as a director of diversity and one of the first people to do some of this other work and other spaces. it is challenging. and as an artist, you know, i didn't always have someone to look up to or someone who i could who really inspired who was local or who was it immediately available to me. and so i want to make that available to young people. and so that's why so much of our programming includes working with schools working with you, working with a new and young audiences. >> any advice for those up and coming young, the struggling artists who they're working hard, but they're not sure if they're being seen yet. yeah, i think the most important thing is to remember that. >> it's it's your it's inside. you. this sense of

the region. 63 going on for antioch. 59 for san jose. 56 san francisco keeping that mostly sunny today in the highs only in the 70's, but by tomorrow we'll pop those into the 80's. another heat spike coming our way. we'll have that and your 4 zone forecast in a bit. stephanie, thanks very much. dave. >> in less than 2 weeks, the bay area concert excuse me, the bay conservation and development commission votes on the fate of the oakland a's kron four's. rob nesbitt spoke with mayor libby shaft. >> in their final report, staff with the bay conservation and development commission recommended that the howard terminal be released from port priority use so that a new ballpark can be built there. they'll have their final vote on june 30th. if the commission approves than the planning process continues for the a's to move to howard terminal, if it's a no on the project is over. according to mayor libby shaft, she's confident that the commission will give the green light since the project isn't just about baseball, 400 room hotel, a new performing arts center, 3,000 units of

housing and the parks. she says 1000 of those units will be dedicated to affordable housing a's. president dave kaval agreed to have 50% of the housing on-site be affordable in exchange for tax money generated a term that the city rejected. they put out a proposal that does not work for us, but we will be giving them an alternative idea very soon. mayor schaff says the ballpark itself at howard terminal will cost around 1 billion dollars to build and will be paid for by the a's. she's heard estimates of around 12 billion dollars for the entire ojt if apoved hessio thxt peopbe lythwr ilben tht sory ase in november, letting the voters decide where the a's play ball. in my opinion, this is a ploy by the opposition to just further spread the misinformation as well as to delay the project and really to cost the taxpayers money. according to the port of oakland, it's been nearly a decade since a tenant occupy power terminal. this is land that people should enjoy.

bit here, we'll take a look at your entire weekend forecast and other heat spike coming our way into next week. stephanie. >> our top story this morning. one man is behind bars after police say he attacked 3 people at sfo. we're getting a live picture of the airport right now. but this incident did happen last night and the international terminal. the man used a weapon to injure his victims. and eyewitnesses say it looked like a large knife. 3 people were treated for minor cuts and scrapes and were able to continue on with their travels. the attacks, as you can see, did not impact flights or other airport operations. santa clara county sheriff's deputies arrested a vta employee who they say threatened gun violence at work. the sheriff's office identified him as 64 year-old doesn't douglas he's now behind bars in the santa clara county jail held without bail on charges of criminal threats. union president john courtney says that the man

made the threats because he was apparently at risk of being fired after refusing to get vaccinated. the vta issued a statement saying, quote, the vta has 0 tolerance for this type of threatening behavior and we'll continue to treat any similar incident with an urgent response. it's been just over a year since a vta employee shot and killed 9 workers and then himself at the railyard in san jose after this most recent incident, trauma counselors were made available to staff. >> the is working with our partners to try and do whatever we can to provide the services and support services. >> the vta and the sheriff's office conducted workplace violence training as part of an effort to try to prevent future gun violence at the rail yard. the golden state warriors back home after winning their 4th nba title kron four's gayle ong catcher in the historic moment at sfo. s

closing the embarcadero and a single eastbound lane along grand avenue. so take that into account. if you're planning to head in that direction today. >> and in less than 2 weeks, the bay conservation and development commission votes on the fate of the oakland a's kron four's. rob nesbitt spoke with mayor libby chef on this. >> in their final report, staff with the bay conservation and development commission recommended that the howard terminal be released from port priority use so that a new ballpark can be built there. they'll have their final vote on june 30th. if the commission approves than the planning process continues for the a's to move to howard terminal. if it's a no win, the project is over. according to mayor libby shaft, she's confident that the commission will give the green light since the project isn't just about baseball, 400 room hotel, a new performing arts center, 3,000 units of housing and the parks. she says 1000 of those units will be dedicated to affordable housing a's. president dave kaval agreed to have 50% of

the housing on-site be affordable in exchange for tax money generated a term that the city rejected. they put out a proposal that does not work for us, but we will be giving them an alternative idea very soon. mayor schaff says the ballpark itself at howard terminal will cost around 1 billion dollars to build and will be paid for by the a's. she's heard estimates of around 12 billion dollars for the entire project if approved by the commission. the next people will be july 5th when city council members will decide if an advisory measure will be on the ballot in november, letting the voters decide where the a's play ball. in my opinion, this is a ploy by the opposition to just further spread the misinformation as well as to delay the project and really to cost the taxpayers money. according to the port of oakland, it's been nearly a decade since a tenant occupy howard terminal. this is land that people should enjoy. mayor schaff was just in washington, d.c., to advocate for 183 million dollar infrastructure grant that will help oakland with water front
