again, the golden gate, you can see the towers are covered up right now. here's the shot from san jose down to san jose state. also looking at quite a bit of this fog clouds hanging around there as well. temperature check for you. most readings in the 50's. we've got 60 for livermore. 64 for antioch and 61, by the way, for san jose. everybody else again in the 50's zba up comparison were actually a couple degrees ahead in most locations, although trailing for oakland in concord and that fog, by the way, the count mixes out pretty quickly. well before noon, except along the coastal locations. but at the battle of little bit this afternoon, too. and it comes back again this evening into tomorrow, kind of signaling temperatures will start relaxing a little bit on our monday. the breakdown today, 83 by 11 by 2 94. yes, another summer day. well inland and even kind of warm around the bay to. well, the roundup for you coming up in just a bit. stephanie, thanks very much. dave. >> happening today, san francisco's fifty-second annual pride parade returns in person for the first time

since the start of the pandemic. it starts at 10:30am, in the morning along market street from beal to 8 unity is rerouting buses from market street to mission street. there are a lot of road closures in this area. so please be aware if you are going into san francisco today. and caltrain is offering some extra trains to help you get to. and from san francisco pride, the agency says it's adding 2 additional northbound and southbound trains to the route. you can expect some ambassadors on board passing out ride with pride stickers. bart is also increasing its transit services and says riders should expect large crowds near the embarcadero and civic center stations. it's looking packed. bart officials say people can try hopping on from the montgomery or powell street stations. a reminder that masks are still required on board. bart. you can also expect extra security at the pride celebrations in san

francisco today. organizers say they will have hundreds of trained volunteers on standby and san francisco. police say they will also be fully staffed for the occasion. they say they are no known threats against the events at this point, but they are asking people to please be aware of their surroundings. if you see something suspicious, make sure you say something. and thousands of people hit the streets of san francisco to attend another lgbtq march saturday afternoon. kron four's justin campbell spoke with participants about the message they hope to send. >> a big show of support here at dolores park for the eid festival. many people out here response the supreme court's decision this behind the dancing people are marching and speaking out. >> people come to support my kids. you know, myla chance. a mother of 2 brought to tears, thankful to have her kids by her side. you've got to grateful because there's some fans and families that don't

support with the rain chance and others at the festival upset over the supreme court overturning roe versus wade. this is a very frightening time. >> and i want to be around women that were angry and willing to stand together with each other. the march and rally established in 1993, says their mission is to celebrate power, supporting others and the community. but despite what may have happened in washington, people like my >> and others are happy to march and live here. i enjoy different this but the city and appreciate it. >> all people all walks of life. and it's it's one of the unique places in the world that allows you to be you. as a whole person, regardless of the stigma is the disadvantage is and the realities of our world. and reporting here in san francisco, justin campbell kron. 4 news. >> and some history made in contra costa county this

weekend. the city of clayton had their first pride parade saturday. residents coming out in support of the event waving flags in celebration. and as you can see, they had a pretty great turnout there. san francisco's twin peaks. it's an iconic piece celebrating lgbtq history. kron four's camila barco reports on the pink triangle. >> every top of san francisco's twin peaks. it's a piece of history. the iconic pink trying this message helps people realize that we're just one more in the minority that have been discriminated patrick carney, the founder of the project, says nowadays the brightly colored symbol is born with wine. what about 80 years ago, the downward pink triangle was used as a symbol of hate against men that has this horrible, tragic history that we have to remember during the holocaust. the nazis used colored triangles to categorize selected groups

of people blue for immigrants. >> yellow for jews, etcetera, and pink for. >> for the. but years later, the meaning behind the pink triangle started to change in the 80's. activists used the to call attention to the hiv aids crisis, killing thousands a day meant by the 90's. it was used more than just a protest to move and took on a more representative, meaning for the in 1996 party and many supporters want to bring the message of triangle to the bay area. started out as a wild are with not got here at 04:00am. every 10 or 12 of it turns into a vibrant work art that has grown in size over the years and is now almost 8 per wine. it's here to commemorate the forced to wear pink triangle and the this display dozens of streamers

jose will soon prevent stores from selling flavored tobacco. the details after this.

>> happening next week, san jose's ban on flavored tobacco goes into effect starting friday, july first stores can no longer sell artificially flavored tobacco products.

mayor sam liccardo says that these products were meant to target kids and anybody caught selling these items could be fined up to $2500 per day and have their tobacco license revoked. premium cigars are not included in these latest restrictions. several other bay area cities have already banned the sale of flavored tobacco, including san francisco, oakland and walnut creek. also happening. on friday. it's going to cost you more starting next week to cross the golden gate bridge. this is a live look at the bridge this morning. quite foggy out there now, the upcoming toll increases part of a 5 year program that went into effect in 2019. the revenue from this new toll is going to pay for golden gate transit and golden gate ferry transit services as well as bridge maintenance. now, here's a look at what those new tolls will look like for fast track users. the toll goes up to 35 goes up. $0.35 to $8.40. the toll will be

>> time now for another check of the weather with meteorologist dave spahr. a quite waking up this morning. yes, he's recovering everywhere. good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody really start here on the media bay. we're seeing all those locations here, golden gate bridge. this is one place like the hideout of that covering both of the towers and a little bit of drizzle, toll, if you will, on your way this is coming in from uc berkeley. there you see the east bay shoreline covered up or should say again by the fog working its magic here. this is expected to break up. let's say about 9 o'clock. 10 o'clock. we should start seeing some blue, certainly by 9 o'clock thrown in there. 67 antioch at this hour, conquered to get 58 60 for livermore. meanwhile, the upper 50's for the east bay shoreline. 61, san jose, most of the 50's to the north bay. so in future cast for we start to see the familiar pattern of what we'll see all week long.

it's the coastal drizzle working in the overnight early morning hours clears up nicely for the day and then we go into the evening hours in comes the fog and some coastal drizzle. a little bit of a possibility there. you can see quite aggressive. it is to get in the central valley by tomorrow morning. at least the sacramento valley. the winds. we do see them this afternoon. onshore popping into the teens to about 25 or so you can see off towards the delta. now it becomes more aggressive monday and it's time to say the same kind of thing that full breezy during the day. but it really picks up, as you can see by the evening hours, all indicating that are heat wave or what we've had with these lofty numbers starting to break and the temperatures are falling suit. you're going to feel a big difference on monday compared to today and that trend continues for much of the balance of the week. so we've got morning fog and they fog should say clearing out warm for the bay hot in. that is probably the fairest way of phrasing it again tomorrow. we'll start to feel different. sunny, not as hot. they will fall to the lower 80's 90's going on in london backs basic

into the 70's. pretty quickly. and then for the latter portion of the week cooler by the end of the week, lower 80's well inland that fall to the upper 70's by friday. now there's rain in the future outside of the coastal drizzle all the way through next weekend. but we'll probably see quite a bit of cloud cover into your saturday next saturday. coming up, 68 san francisco, 74 for oakland, 87 for san jose. still a little bit on the warm side. that is true off to the far east bay, those upper 90's that work there particularly you will notice, but not quite as intrusive up in the north bay with upper 80's replacing the 90's in a bit, of course, with the 4 zone forecast for you, stephanie. thanks very much. dave. >> new this morning, police say someone sexually assaulted a woman in redwood city. it happened around 2 this morning. the woman was walking on the 2300 block of road. a man came up to her exposed himself and tried to convince her to go home with him. she then tried to walk away and even called a friend. that's when the man caught up to her,

grabbed her and took her cell phone. he then ran off. police do not have a detailed description of the attacker yet. in the east bay. the search continues in oakland for the gunman who shot and killed a man early saturday morning. it happened on the 1700 block of broadway just before 4 yesterday morning. now when police arrived on scene, they found the victim with a gunshot wound. he was taken to the hospital where he died. this is oakland's 54th homicides so far this year. a one and a half acre fire burning near highway 17 in santa cruz county is now 75% contained. you can see some photos of that there. officials calling this the rock fire. firefighters face some challenges early on because of the rough terrain in this area. and you can see just how heavily forested this area is. cal fire deployed helicopters and air tankers to extinguish the flames. no word yet on what sparked this fire.

the tesla fire burning in alameda county is now fully contained at 524 quite sizable fire there. and that fire sparked near tesla road and coral hollow road 11 miles southeast of livermore. cal fire said the fire was caused by a car crashing into a tree and erupting in flames. the scene a fire burning between crockett in port costa is also 100% contained at 120 acres. but a very different picture on thursday afternoon as flames threatened homes and smoke could be seen for miles. the canyon fire still burning. this is off kill care road near soon. all in alameda county. the blaze now 71 acres and 70% contained these fire. these flames, i should say, broke out thursday afternoon and the fire prompted mandatory evacuations for people living in this area. those orders were lifted later that evening. the local police

and fire department are teaming up to collect your unwanted fireworks and you can find those collection barrels at 6 fire stations there listed there on your screen. there. the oakland police department wants everyone to know that all fireworks, even those mark safe and sane are illegal. the department will issue fines ranging from $1000 to $10,000. and you could even get possible jail time. if you want to report someone and illegal possession of fireworks called the opd is tip line at 5. one o 238-2373. today in the north bay. the city of petaluma is hosting a fireworks turn an event as well. city officials say because of the extreme drought conditions we're experiencing in california, fireworks to present a danger to the community and anyone in violation of these rules could face fines of $1000 for more. now to a new development in the war against covid-19.

pfizer says its updated booster shot shows increased immune response against the highly contagious omicron variant. pfizer says its new vaccine tested on 1200 adults appears to be safe. but those results still need to be peer reviewed. we spoke with a local bay area. doctor doctor peter chin. hong at ucsf on what this new pfizer booster could mean for preventing covid spread. and he tells us that the results so far have been pretty promising. the doctor says this new booster is a mix of different variants. and if paired with the original variant produces 10 times, the antibody production in the body. the study focused on middle age to older adults. he says that there's not been a study on younger children yet. but do you need the new booster if you've already received one in the past? that was our question for him. he says that the old booster prevents us from taking a trip to the doctor's but does not prevent infection

>> good morning. welcome back to the kron. 4 morning news. >> let's start this half hour with a look at the forecast. we have dave spahr in the weather center with the very latest. good morning, dave. well, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. in fog we're dealing with for the immediate bay and along the coast. this is what we got there at half moon bay. it looks like the ground fog is lifting kind of keeping the overcast conditi.ns around. >> that's actually a tougher battle, though, to clear that out of the coast, it will be a

little slow going on. the will see better progress happening for the bay locations. and speaking of which this is what fog tracker basically says, it looks like everything clears out well around noon. so for the parade will call a kind of scattered clouds and all that. now this fog is coming again back again tonight spilling into all of those little valleys and so forth as you'll notice by tomorrow morning, we're starting to get into that pattern now that the little teat spike is over as conditions start to cool. the marine layer will be a bit more aggressive. 67 for antioch, most readings in the north bay in the 50's. 55 san francisco in 61, san jose. those temperatures warm a little bit. it looks like by the late morning hours into the mid 60's, scattered clouds left over. at that point, mild got a bit of a west wind at 10 to 15. that's just in the warming phase. you get to around noon or so and it will be substantially warmer and better clearing as well. but that fog will come back pretty quickly. if you're hanging around the city by the late afternoon, 83 by 11 by 2, we're talking 94 again. the temperatures will be improving

all week long. we'll have that extended forecast for you and the 4 zone to stephanie. >> thanks very much, dave. emotions running high after the supreme court's decision to overturn roe v wade. our hannah brandt is in washington to explain where things go from here. the biden administration is acknowledging there are limits to what it can do to protect abortion access. >> but the president democrats promise this fight isn't over. protesters gathered in front of a fenced in guarded supreme court on saturday. some were sad and angry that the court overturned the 50 year-old roe versus wade ruling gives states the power to ban or limit abortions when it comes to my own body that like doesn't affect anybody else. >> i can't make my own choice. and president biden echoed that frustration mentioned terrible shooting. the president says his administration will closely monitor new anti-abortion state laws take action to protect women's rights and

reproductive health. actions like protecting the right to travel to other states to get abortions and ensuring access to abortion medication. right now, democrats in congress don't have the votes to pass pro choice legislation, which is why house speaker nancy pelosi says abortion rights will be a centerpiece of the upcoming election. a woman's right to choose. >> reproductive freedom is on the ballot in november. but america remains divided on the issue. even those protesting outside the supreme court. i'm grateful that they gave it to his each state to decide, but i wish they eeli. it just made it illegal across the board. prominent republicans have signaled that they may push for a nationwide abortion ban if they win control of congress in november. house minority leader kevin mccarthy says their work is far from done. first and foremost, i believe in saving every life possible. >> and as protests continue both here in dc and across the country, the president is urging people to demonstrate peacefully. >> and so far here in this area, they have been in washington. i'm hannah brandt.

and a planned parenthood in california is weighing in on the reversal of roe v way. >> you may recall i spoke with her here live on kron 4 news saturday. watch. >> the decision back the supreme court to not act and intervene when texas since 2 did their affected our clinics back in september. so since one state it banned abortion september, we've had about 1500 folks coming from out of state already. >> and hicks is expecting those numbers of people coming in from out of state to get abortion services to increase following this decision. but she does reassure people seeking help that it is available in california. in the east bay. congressman eric swalwell held a rally at planned parenthood and hayward, the protests. the supreme court's decision, the congressman took to twitter to praise those who came out to stand up for women's freedoms in his tweet, swalwell said,

quote, it is an honor to stand beside so many people across the east bay committed to protecting a woman's right to make her own decisions about her body. and in san jose, residents took to the streets for a bans off our bodies rally in response to the ruling, the event happening at city hall. and as you can see, they're quite a big turn out for this demonstration. several organizations and companies denouncing the supreme court's decision. the naacp tweeting, quote, the scotus decision is a direct attack on all women. but we know that black women stand to be disproportionately impacted. now, according to the cdc, black women are 3 to 4 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women. for more information and analysis on the supreme court decision, you can head to kron 4 dot com just scan the qr code right there on your screen. it's nice and big and it will take you straight to our website. >> coming up on the kron 4

here. there is some activity happening in the 4 corner states. but these troughs that continue to come through that are dry. thank you. don't to keep pushing that monsoon bar to the southeast. from our perspective next weekend, it's kind of interesting, though. you can see this collection here from this next storm system, although it looks to be fairly dry. let's check it out. your 4 zone forecast at 68 san francisco. not bad. 66 daly, city, lot of 60's at the coast battling some of that fog cloudiness left over 77 for burlingame to the south will be in the mid-eighties at this palo alto about 86. meanwhile, in the south bay, 87, it's 94 for morgan hill. 91 los gatos. 89 cupertino, east bay shoreline to the south, still holding the lower 80's least in the southern sector. mid-nineties still out there to pleasanton livermore, tri valley, 92 walnut creek and also danville, 94 for concord, 74 for open. so the decoupling from those areas well inland compared to the east bay shoreline, the late host, little cool. 74 compared to the neighbors here. 90's

80's still hold around the carquinez strait. 87 napa in santa rosa. 86 with those chilly temperatures along the coast still into the 60's. all right. now on the left hands right over here, got 96 today dropping to 92 tomorrow. you see the big drop happening. kind of a mixed bag of sun and clouds throughout the week with this trough coming through the 80's. we fall upper 70's by friday and on saturday we can muster is some scattered clouds. it's hope we can mention be some rain into the following week. stephanie. >> thanks very much. in danville, several downtown streets closed today for summer fest. summer fest includes more than 150 arts crafts and food vendors along harts avenue. check this out. you can see the list of road closures on your screen. there. they include hartz avenue which will be closed between diablo road and hearts way prospect avenue also closed between the clock tower municipal parking lot entrance and front street free parking will be available in all municipal. lots of surrounding the venue. this event runs

with dave sphar. good morning, dave. stephanie, good morning. and good morning, everybody. aggressive fog greets us this morning at the golden gate covering up both towers. their little bit of that on shore when that sun work, obviously as a cooling element, half moon bay, it looks like that ground fog has now lifted to more of a cloudy overcast scenario. this is going to be something that we would hopefully see by noon hour. so break up a little bit. but that's going to be a little bit of a fight at the marine layer with that along the coast. that's going to kind of the story. we're going to see much of the week as conditions change now more favorably. lots of 50's over the bay right now with some 60's hanging on the far east bay. 62, by the way, down south san jose and palo alto. and the contrast for use just trailing a couple degrees off towards the east. we're pretty close to where we were this time from yesterday. back to the fog that mixes out pretty quickly by the noon hour. there's a lot of dry air right above above us. and that starts to wesley ground starts to warm. it will mix out with that drier air back again. it comes for tomorrow morning.

that's and coupled with some coastal drizzle in that program as well. but on balance, most people will see lots of sunshine, 90 at high noon to 3. we're talking. yes, 95 still quite toasty protecting the far east bay. coming up a little bit here, we'll take more of a closer look at your forecast. a funny looking forward to it. thank you, dave. >> happening today, san francisco's fifty-second annual pride parade returns in person for the first time since the start of the pandemic. it starts at 10:30am, in the morning along market street from beal q 8 muni is rerouting buses from market mission street. and there are a lot of road closures in this area. so please be aware if you're headed into the city today. caltrain is offering extra trains to help you get to. and from san francisco pride. the agency says it's adding 2 additional northbound and southbound trains to the route. you can expect ambassadors onboard passing out, ride with pride stickers. bart also increasing its transit services and says

riders should expect large crowds near the embarcadero and civic center stations. now it's looking a little packed. bart officials do say people can try to hop on from the montgomery or powell street stations. a reminder that masks are still required. when you take part. and you can also expect extra security at the pride celebrations in san francisco today. organizers say they will have hundreds of trained volunteers and san francisco police say they will be for staff. they say there are no known threats against the events as of this point. >> but they are asking people to be aware of their surroundings. if you see something suspicious, make sure you say something. the 42nd annual front runners pride run took off yesterday. the event raises money for lgbtq youth state senator scott wiener. this set of san francisco tweeted out this colorful video with the message they're coming for us. but we're not going anywhere. there was a 5 k 10 k and a kid's dashed. participants

were also treated to some snacks awards and community activities. and thousands of people hit the streets of san francisco to attend another lgbtq event saturday afternoon. kron four's justin campbell spoke with participants about the message they hope to sen. >> a big show of support here at dolores park for the guy that's many people out here in response to the supreme court's decision this behind the dancing people are marching and speaking out. >> people come to support my kids. you know, myla chance. a mother of 2 brought to tears, thankful to have her kids by her side. you've got to be grateful there's some fans and families that don't support the right chance and others at the festival upset over the supreme court overturning roe versus wade. this is a very frightening time. >> and i want to be around women that were angry and willing to stand together with each other. the march and rally established in 1993,

>> happening next week, san jose's ban on flavored tobacco goes into effect starting friday, july first stores can no longer sell artificially flavored tobacco products. mayor sam liccardo says that these products were meant to target kids. anybody caught selling these items could be fined up to $2500 per day and have their tobacco license revoked who premium cigars are not included in these latest restrictions. several other

bay area cities have already banned the sale of flavored tobacco, including san francisco, oakland and walnut creek. also happening next week, it's going to cost you more to cross the golden gate bridge. this is a live look at the bridge this morning. looking quite foggy out there. the upcoming toll increases part of a 5 year program that went into effect in 2019. now the revenue from these new tolls will pay for golden gate transit and golden gate ferry transit services as well as bridge maintenance. here's a look at what the new tolls will be for fast track users. the amount goes up. $0.35 to $8 and $0.40. that hold will be $8.80 for pay as you go. that's for those of you who register your license plate in the system. the toll invoice rate goes up to $9.40 and the carpool rate is also going up. that toll will be $6 and $0.40. dave. >> or that on these have coins going back and forth for your

there. >> it's off to a cool start with fog in place too. yeah, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. there should be breaking up as we approach around the noon hour. so we'll call kind of scattered clouds for the parade going on in the city at 10, 30 in the late morning hours. and temperatures warming fairly quickly, though we're looking at although milder rate remaining around the bay san jose state. you can kind of make out a couple of blue patches here and there showing that things are already turning their 72 antioch. a lot of 60's in the east bay. but everybody else is pretty much in the 50's department. 61 palo alto. 62 so for what we have is we're flowing into the familiar pattern with the overnight marine layer. hello, it's already here today that mixes out when the sun joins us. and then tonight again comes in the fog, the clouds and a little in the way of some light. sprinkles is a possibility in your morning commute and some of the bridges and so for the might have that early in the day before the sun has a chance to mix out that lower level moisture winds to are picking

we don't have the force of the high pressure directly overhead. obviously the heat wave is ending. so on shore will be the afternoon program. but starting earlier tomorrow, a little bit more intense, too. so everything is relaxing into a more mild, like summertime pattern for at least the early part of the week. then almost a flavor of fall towards the end. so putting it all together again. we get that morning. fog. this is the east bay shoreline still covered up at this hour. then for the early part of the week, sunny, not as hot passing clouds throughout the week. it looks like for the bay lower 80's. still some 90's hanging on early week. then that changes over to the 80's. well inland and even drops to the 70's by friday. so a little flavor of fall coming our way towards the end of the week. 68 san francisco should open up those skies by the afternoon. 74 for oakland, 87 san jose. plenty hot, though, going on in the far east bay. look at that by almost 10 degrees difference there. cut 97, 94 concord, 94 livermore up to the north bay. the 90's have been retired, replaced by the 80's shelley

67 going on half moon bay and 68 for san francisco course. well, more in your 4 zone forecast. look at extended coming up later a certainly does look like it warms up significantly later that day later today. >> and new this morning, police say someone sexually assaulted a woman in redwood city. it happened around 2 this morning. the woman was walking on the 2300 block of bay road. a man came up to her exposed himself and then tried to convince her to go home with him. she tried to walk away and called a friend. that's when the man caught up to her, grabbed her and took her cell phone. then you ran off. police do not have a detailed description of the attacker, but we are working to get more information for you. in the east bay. the search continues in oakland for the gunman who shot and killed a man early saturday morning. it happened on the 1700 block of broadway just before 4 yesterday morning. but police arrived on scene. they found the victim %ith a gunshot wound. he was taken to

the hospital where he died. this is oakland's 54th homicides so far this year. a one and a half acre fire burning near highway 17 in santa cruz county is now. 75% contained. officials calling this the rock fire. firefighters face some challenges early on combating this thing because of all the rough terrain in the area. and you can see it's quite heavily forested as well. a cal fire deployed helicopters and air tankers to try to extinguish the flames. no word yet on what caused this fire. s the fire burning in alameda county is now fully contained. so some good news there at 524 acres. that fire sparked near tesla road and coral hollow road 11 miles southeast of livermore. cal fire said the fire was caused by a car crashing into a tree and erupting in flames. the scenic fire burning between crockett in port costa is also fully contained at 120 acres. but a

very different picture on thursday afternoon. as you can see there as flames threatened homes and smoke could be seen for miles. the canyon fire. meantime, still burning. this is off kill care road near sunol in alameda county. the blaze now 71 acres and 75% contain. it broke out thursday afternoon and the fire prompted mandatory evacuations for people living in the area. we do want to remind you about those orders were lifted later that evening. the local police and fire department are teaming up to collect your unwanted fireworks. you can find firework collection barrels at 6 fire stations there on your screen. now the oakland police department wants everyone to know that all fireworks, even those mark safe and sane are illegal. the department will issue fines ranging from $1000 to $10,000 along with possible jail time. if you want to report someone in illegal possession of fireworks, call the opd is tip

line at 5 one. 0, 2, 3, 8, 2, 3, 7, 3, today, the north bay, the city of petaluma hosts a fireworks turn an event. city tfficials say because of the extreme drought conditions here in california, fireworks can present a danger to the community and anyone in violation of the rules could face fines of $1000 or more. and now to a new development in the war against covid-19. pfizer says its updated booster shot shows increased immune response against the highly contagious omicron variant. pfizer says its new vaccine tested on 1200 adults appears to be safe. but those results still need to be peer reviewed. and we spoke with a local bay area physician. doctor peter chin. hong on what this new pfizer booster could mean for preventing the spread of covid. watch. >> it includes the original variant as well as a soup variance, which is like

milk in san francisco. kron four's john trimble shows us what's planned. >> for many, and trans people, the castro has long represented what only seemed like a dream in some parts of the country. i grew up in texas. i remember when i first heard about the castro and it seemed unreal that there was a place that i could live as a person and and be myself and walk down the street, holding hands with the person that i love. the year was 1977. harvey milk was just elected city supervisor. after years of advocating for his community, particularly in the castro, which was fast attracting lgbt people from across the country, becoming the first openly man to be elected to public office in california, i came to san francisco and part of that was because of harvey wanted to be part of that >> movement and that movement, a legacy memorialized in part here at harvey milk plaza. what we know is harvey plaza was actually built to be the station entrance to the new

castor muni station. but it's really struggled since then to represent somebody as important as harvey was to the community then and has gone on to become to the worldwide lgbtq+. community harvey milk plaza is right in the middle of the castro district and for many people visiting the neighborhood for the first time. >> this is the first thing they see why it's so important for the plaza to make a great first impression back in 2017 hearing calls for the plaza to stand out and better tell the story of harvey milk. >> brian springfield, executive director of friends of harvey milk plaza became part of what is now the effort to completely transform the space at the corner of marketing castro. what's there now is these terraces what we're proposing is that they become occupy abul park space. >> so instead of having that green space that's fenced off, it's going to be space that people can actually go in and they'll a central, you know, circular area that's dedicated to hope. groundbreaking is expected within the next few years. but right now you can go to the plaza in see for yourself the vision in a virtual walk through on harvey milk plaza dot org in.

from yesterday. there are the are the onshore winds driven by inland heating. it's going to come a little bit more aggressive tomorrow and start a little earlier to covering a good chunk up in the north bay as well. these will be the active, typical local afternoon evening breeze. as we get as far as most the traffic from the pacific. the general trend is an open pacific, but there's just no juicy systems to look out for here. the system's keep coming. cooling us off. keeping that a monsoon at bay. that's also a little plus 2. this looks very inviting upstream before, but it looks like it's less hopeful. we'll get any rain out of that. what you can expect into next weekend is quite a bit of cloud cover coming our way on saturday. at least from this vantage point temperature check for the 4 zone forecast. 68 still san francisco. once we clear out this fog 60's at the coast will be a battle with some of the fog clouds later today. 77 burlingame to the south, lots of 80's mid-eighties at that. it looks like 86 palo alto and the lower 90's down to the south. here we have 94 morgan hill, but 87 san jose 89 going on

stephanie. you guys didn't get the memo is bring your dog to work i wish i don't know if we allow pets in the studio. >> but you know, i'm so excited to hear from you about this this morning because i myself have shell, tia four-legged friend, myself name or london. i know he's really going to benefit. might what i think you're about to share with us. >> great. great. >> now at yeah. i'd like to do this every year. as a reminder, kids i i need these reminders to. >> it's it's already getting hot day said it's going to be in the 90's today. so very important to take care of our pooches. yes. and which dogs would you say? >> are most at risk for a heat stroke at this time. >> so their sim actually the risk factors are similar to those in people. so if you are very young or very old, those are the ones at highest risk of overheating. also if fit the dog is overweight or d

conditioned there's any kind of underlying lung heart disease if they have long, thick hair as well they don't get enough water. they don't drink enough water have access to enough water. walk us through. also how dogs keep themselves cool because it's a bit different from how we humans. >> do it. and so i think knowing this information will help people help inform people and how they can help ensure that their dogs stay cool during this hot weather. so, stephanie, i had. >> i jog for 15 rather talk 15 years before even realized that your sweat were not in their skin. i i thought they were just like, yes. and but actually their sweat glands are in their paws. and so they're they're right there and their paws. so they really can't house a lot of sweat glands. so even though they can sweat a little, they don't. they really can't rid

of a lot of their body heat through those pause. >> so the the other way that they cool is to their nose and their mask by so it's really important, too, to never muscle the dog to make sure he go cool and because we know about this, what plans are in the pause? what can we do to help protect our puppies? paws during so this is really important to make sure we take really good care of their cars. so if you're going on a walk to test the surface, so, you know, probably been outside walking barefoot and dogs no different. 3rd there pas her too. and they get burned. so if you are going outside, make sure you take your bare hand or your barefoot and hold it on the surface that you're going to be walking on for 10 full seconds. and if it's hot, if

you can't stand it, then it's not. it's not a good for your dog. >> and you can get they can actually get third-degree burns on their paws. it's really sad to see and something we definitely want to avoid. and what are some of the warning signs we should be looking out for particular ways that our pets might show signs of distress if they're feeling too hot. >> so definitely panting panting excessively are julie. ing not being real that's kind of my dog i'm calling him. he doesn't always answered it. yeah, it doesn't. tense tends to wander and it's not as response of is he normally is. so definitely look for that. you don't want the worst thing that can happen is that it can. it can progress to heat stroke. so you really want to catch this when they overheated and not progressing to the heat stroke, which can result in cardiac arrest. organ failure death. you know,

we certainly want to avoid that. and you know tips on how we can ensure that our pets can avoid heat exhaustion and the overexposure to all the hot weather. so definitely don't leave your dog in the car, even if it's 70 degrees and you have the window cracked it can it can get up to 120 degrees very quickly in minutes at say. so just don't leave your dog in the car. there are a lot of things now that they have accessories, they have for dogs for cooling. they actually have a dog vest, a cooling vest and bandanas. >> you actually take the vest bandana soak it in water, squeeze out the water and then put it in refrigerator for 10 minutes and then put it on the dog. and yeah, it's really nice. if you're going for a longer walk and then to re height is the dog gets hot.

you could just write down or pour water over the vest or the bandana and that will help them cool naturally. also want to make the point that it's not just about overheating outside. it can also happen inside. you know, our air conditioner went out and it was 100 degrees in here. >> and not everybody has air conditioning. so real important to think about there being cool enough insight as well as outside. so one of the things that you can do, by the way, when you go on a walk, make sure you have water for your dog. and i have these one of these little portable. i know if you seen one of the 6 might be great for your dog to don't have one and you just carry it. and when they get thirsty, you just pop it open in the poor them some water. and there you go a little dog dog dish? that's adorable. if you don't have the best, you can get a wet towel and put that ring out the water, put it on them. but what i've

tried also is the the a frozen water bottle and and and and put it under their chin and let them lay on it. but my my dog here he doesn't. he doesn't like it is too hard. what i've done before, you know, most dogs like socks. so i put ice cubes in a sock and dad, let them lay lay on that are put it under their action to cool off. so it's a little bit more comfortable in a hard plastic to some great options and advice on how we can all keep our pet safe during this very hot weather. i think i saw your dog on the bottom corner there. so we hope that you and your pooch are. >> going to be able to stay safe. and in cool during the summer. thank you so much care. and this morning, there are very welcome. okay. we'll be right back. now to bay area

about 60 ish. 65 checking in for san jose. so this fog mixes out shore, mostly sunny, except along the coast. it comes back again tonight to greet you for your early morning commute. and this is actually going to spill of the sacramento valley by tomorrow morning as the high as heat wave starts to break down. still looking at a hot afternoon, though, at 94 going on to key in the east bay contra costa county, alameda county, far east bay. you're going to see that a lot. even in solano county to the north bay, not as much and everybody is going to get more relief as the week progresses. more on that forecast coming up in a bit. stephanie, looking forward to it. thank you, dave. >> happening today, san francisco's fifty-second annual pride parade returns in person for the first time since the start of the pandemic. this starts at 10, 30 in the morning along market street from beal to 8th. muni is rerouting buses from market street to mission street. and there's going to be a lot of road closures in this area. so please be aware if you're headed to san francisco today.

and caltrain is offering extra trains to help you get to and from the parade. the agency says it's adding 2 additional northbound and southbound trains to its route. you can expect ambassadors on board passing out, ride with pride stickers. bart also increasing its transit services and says riders should expect large crowds near the embarcadero and civic center stations. and it's looking a bit packed. bart officials say you can try hopping on from the montgomery or powell street stations. a reminder that masks are still required. when you take the bar. you can also expect some extra security at the pride celebrations in san francisco today. organizers say they will have hundreds of trained volunteers on hand. and san francisco police say they will be fully staffed. they say they are no known threats against the events as of this moment, but they are asking people to please be aware of their surroundings. if you see anything suspicious, say

something. and thousands of people hit the streets of san francisco to attend another lgbtq march saturday afternoon. kron four's justin campbell spoke with participants about the message they hope to send. >> a big show of support here at dolores park for best of many people out here response the supreme court's decision this behind the dancing people are marching and speaking out. >> people come to support my kids. you know, myla chance. a mother of 2 brought to tears, thankful to have her kids by her side. you've got to grateful because there's some fans of families that don't support with the rain chance and others at the festival upset over the supreme court overturning roe versus wade. this is a very frightening time. >> and i want to be around women that were angry and willing to stand together with each other. the march and rally established in 1993, says their mission is to celebrate power, supporting

francisco's it's an iconic piece of celebrating lgbtq history. kron four's camila barco reports on the pink triangle. >> every top of san francisco's twin peaks. it's a piece of history. the iconic pink trying this message helps people realize that we just one more in the minority that have been discriminated patrick carney, the founder of the project, says nowadays the brightly colored symbol is born with wine. what about 80 years ago, the downward pink triangle was used as a symbol of hate against men that has this horrible, tragic history that we have to remember during the holocaust. the nazis used colored triangles to categorize selected groups of people blue for immigrants. >> yellow for jews, etcetera, and pink for. >> for the. but years later, the meaning behind the pink triangle started to change in

the 80's. activists used the to call attention to the hiv aids crisis, killing thousands game at by the 90's. it was used more than just a protest to move and took on a more representative, meaning for the in 1996, pardoned. many supporters want to bring the message of triangle to the bay area. what started out as a wild are with not got here at 04:00am every 10 or 12 of it turns into a vibrant work art that has grown in size over the years. >> and is now almost 8 per wine. it's here to commemorate the forced to wear pink triangle and the whole cost. this display features dozens streamers and 1, 700 the lines eliminating the pink triangle during the day and night and so the very dry conditions.

>> happening next week, san jose's ban on flavored tobacco goes into effect starting friday, july first stores can no longer sell artificially flavored tobacco products. mayor sam liccardo says that these products were meant to target kids. anybody caught selling these items could be fined up to $2500 per day and have their tobacco license revoked. in premium cigars are not included in these latest restrictions. several other bay area cities have already banned the sale of flavored tobacco, including san francisco, oakland and walnut creek. also happening next week, it's going to cost you

more to cross the golden gate bridge. check out this live. look at the bridge this morning. bit foggy out there. the upcoming toll increase part of a 5 year program that went into effect in 2019. the revenue from the new toll will pay for the golden gate transit and golden gate ferry transit services as well as bridge maintenance. now, here's a look at what the new tolls will be for fast track users. the toll goes up. $0.35 to $8 and $0.40. the toll will be $8.80 for pay as you go. that's for those of you who register your license plate in the system. the toll invoice rate goes up to 9.40. the carpool rate also going up. that toll will be $6.40. and the fog. no extra charge. looking pretty good at that. the temperatures for today will look to the middle 90's for those in the valleys by the mid afternoon. >> they fog will clear on out will go to a mostly sunny afternoon and then what

there for the big parade? okay. good morning, stephanie. good morning, we'll get some better clearing skies and you're probably over the next hour or so. see the improvements all over the place, not the golden gate. this is always the fog trap here. let's move on, though. east bay shoreline start to peel away. as you can see, morrison filling in and the skies starting to improve here. so most the fog is gone from the ground now, 2 aloft a little bit. 76 for antioch, 68 livermore, 67 concord, near 60 along the east bay shoreline. we're looking at 65 san jose. and 55 santa rosa's could be a little cooler. >> up in the north bay today, then yesterday, but not so much in the east bay sore pattern is going to be much the same. the morning marine layer. i e fog mixes out in the later morning hours and then returns again overnight with just like tomorrow will be the case. again, here comes the fog. some coastal drizzle, maybe a little drizzle on a new bay area bridges before it mixes out as we go into the afternoon, those winds this afternoon, there they pop again, we don't have the interference of the high pressure. the kind of turns

that all off they're going to be a little stronger. looks like though, tomorrow afternoon. again, those local winds covering san francisco through the north bay off towards the east bay, all being on shore as a climate control. so this clears out warm for the bay hot inland as the way we'll kind of phrase it early in the week. we continue to relax the temperatures. general sky conditions, sunny, but traffic from the pacific will continue to do this and re in kind of encourage that marine layer and our way by late in the week we're talking inland temperatures falling to the lower 80's, even the upper 70's by friday and into next weekend. we'll probably see a lot more cloud cover from this vantage point by saturday. looking way ahead again, back to today. once we take care of the fog, we should go into blue sky mode. 68 san francisco. that will be after the parade. we get there. obviously 74 for open 87 covering san jose where most of the south they won't be in the 90's today. this go around, but it will be off towards the east bay. so the hottest temperatures will be concentrated off to the far east. meanwhile, the 80's up

to the north bay and 68 67 for a half moon bay coming up in a bit. of course, we'll have the 4 zone forecast for you. look at the extended to stephanie. thanks very much, david. there was a lot of big news coming out of washington this week, including >> major rulings from the supreme court on guns and the overturn of roe v wade. now here to help us break it all down and discuss what this means moving forward is. >> kron four's political analyst michael yaki. good morning to you. >> good morning, stephanie. happy friday. everyone. this is my favorite parade when i was on the board of supervisors just crazy crazy times. i'm glad it's back. >> any plans to go out there yourself. but by chance not today. joined the crowds. >> all right. well, let's start with the decision to overturn. >> roe v wade, this is sending major ripple effects across the country. we've heard from so many lawmakers on this president biden calling on congress to take action, but that likely won't be enough. you think the senate will be able to come to a bipartisan

agreement and take action for the anti-abortion camp? >> not to stir a and this is this point that really what? this whole action? this decision is the culmination, a very concerted effort by fundamentalists right wing part the republican party since making 8 since the election of ronald reagan to take control of the supreme court and eventually overturn roe v wade, which has happened 3, not just that is a return. it they've got it in and tired of that. they removed the idea that there's any right to privacy, any right to choose any control over over your own reproductive choices from women. and this is something that that is quite alarming and quite startling and constitutional jurisprudence. i went to the same about a lot of these guys. we all took on water, kamala together, no law school we we write brown versus board. this is so far beyond that is so far. in

terms of going away from constitutional jurisprudence in this country that it's just breathtaking. and it's because it's enabled by the fact that the republicans are focused on the presidency. they focused on the senate and they've been able to do their will german getting supreme court. nominees who here to there believes on the supreme court. >> now, how do you forsee this decision from scotus shaping the turnout for the midterms? the voter turnout. >> well, i think it's interesting because you would think that it would probably help motivate what is a very unmotivated democratic base. everyone's worried about the economy. inflation, things like that but here's here's the trip. clarence thomas put out a clarion call in his concurrence to the right wing saying, remember, we still have these things left to go. we can go after access to contraception. we can go after

same marriage. we can go after those things that that's the right wing. billy's sister nothing in the constitution with the fact that really deeply embedded who we are as a constitutional democracy. that is they're they're continuing wake-up call can remember. if it had not been for the election joseph biden, we might have a situation today where donald trump could have. stephen breyer is a point when the over judge jackson but she brings up point to the supreme court. and what does that mean? that gives 5 that we get 5 votes, a solid majority to a jury. just digitial philosophy that goes back to the 7th century that goes back to a time when whitman had no right there with women property. when people who look like me weren't allowed, weren't allowed to function in society, except maybe, you know, do your laundry. and this is the kind of stuff that is anchoring for a vote at the

>> i can't make my own choice. and president biden echoed that frustration mentioned terrible shooting. the president says his administration will closely monitor new anti-abortion state laws take action to protect women's rights and reproductive health. actions like protecting the right to travel to other states to get abortions and ensuring access to abortion medication. right now, democrats in congress don't have the votes to pass pro choice legislation, which is why house speaker nancy pelosi says abortion rights will be a centerpiece of the upcoming election. a woman's right to choose. >> reproductive freedom is on the ballot in november. but america remains divided on the issue. even those protesting outside the supreme court. i'm grateful that they gave it to his each state to decide, but i wish they would have easily. it just made it illegal across the board, prominent republicans have signaled that they may push for a nationwide abortion ban if they win control of congress in november. house minority leader kevin mccarthy says their work is far from done.

here in the east bay. congressman eric swalwell held a rally at planned parenthood and hayward to protest the supreme court's decision to overturn roe v wade. the congressman took to twitter to praise those who came out in his tweet. he said, quote, it is an honor to stand beside so many people across the east bay who are committed to protecting a woman's right to make her own decisions about her body. in san jose residents took to the streets for a bans off our bodies rally in response to the ruling, the event happening at city as you can see in this video, quite a big turnout for this demonstration. the naacp denouncing the supreme court's decision. the organization tweeting, quote, the scotus decision is a direct attack on all women. but we know that black women stand to be disproportionately impacted according to the cdc, black women are 3 to 4 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications and other groups. for more information

and analysis on the supreme court decision. you can head to kron 4 dot com just scan that big qr code right there on your screen. it will take you straight to our website. new this morning. police say someone sexually assaulted a woman in redwood city. it happened around 2 this morning. the woman was walking right there on the 2300 block of bay road. a man reportedly or rather allegedly came up to her exposed himself and tried to convince her to go home with him. she tried to walk away and called a friend. that's when the man caught up to her, grabbed her and took her cell phone and he ran away. police do not have a detailed description of the attacker yet, but we're working to get more information in the east bay. the search continues in oakland for the gunman who shot and killed a man early saturday morning. it happened on the 1700 block of broadway just before 4 yesterday morning when police arrived on scene, they found the victim with a gunshot wound. he was taken to the hospital where he

died. this is oakland's 54th homicides so far this year. a one and a half acre fire burning near highway 17 and santa cruz county is now 75% contained. officials are calling this the rock fire. firefighters face some challenges early on because of the rough terrain in this area. you can also see how heavily forested this area is. cal fire deployed helicopters and air tankers to try and get the flames out. no word yet on what caused this fire. the canyon fire. meantime, still burning. this is off kill care road. their student all in alameda county. the blaze now 71 acres. and is 75% contained? the flames sparked thursday afternoon prompting mandatory evacuations for people living in the area. those orders were lifted later that evening. oakland police and fire department teaming up to collect your unwanted fireworks. you can find
