happens with the fog yet mixes out nicely. but we're not a lot of cloud cover aloft. so it's not going to be that kind of treatment where we see the sun really fill up the skies for everybody. nice cobalt blue. here comes back again for tonight. tomorrow morning to repeat the performance, mostly 60's across the region. some 50's hanging up there. the north 63 for san jose. 57 san francisco. we have a good strong on shore when that will continue throughout today. mostly in the single digits around the bail, though, around the delta in cortina straight. it picks up quite a bit. so keeping cloud cover, even in the inland spots for today because we have mid level monsoon around for today and tomorrow. 73 by 11 by 2. we're talking 83 in a bit. we'll check into your forecast. look like what it looks like for today and into next week. a meal. >> all right. thanks, dave. happening tomorrow, the monkeypox vaccine clinic at zuckerberg sf general hospital will reopen for walk-in appointments on thursday. san francisco received 4200 doses of the vaccine clinic at sf general will be open from

08:00am to noon every day until vaccines right now. and that could be quick. this is video of lines that formed during the last walk in clinic at sf general, despite the new shipment of vaccines. mayor london breed says that the city has received nowhere near enough as of last thursday. the mayor says the city hi receive 1200 at 1200,000 talk 1000. excuse me, vaccines to date, but they need 70,000 that same day. the mayor also declared a local public health emergency. it will go into effect tomorrow and breed says the declaration will help mobilize city resources, speed up, emergency planning and help coordinate agencies across the city. this is all happening as the number of monkeypox cases continue to rise across the bay area. these are the latest numbers. as of friday. you can see san francisco is leading the bay area with more than 300 cases and to put it into perspective, the state of california has nearly 800. for

the latest information on the disease, including a monkeypox case tracker and vaccination sites. you can scan this qr code and it will take you right to our website. and developing news this morning. a fire near the california oregon border has grown to an estimated 30,000 acres. and now governor gavin newsom has declared a state of emergency and siskiyou county in siskiyou county. this is video showing some of the damage caused by the mckinney fire. it's just one percent contain the evacuation orders extent into west. why rica with warnings in place for all city residents west of interstate 5. and fire burning near yosemite national park is 59% contained as of this morning. evacuation orders in the area have been reduced to advisories as crews continue to work toward full containment. the fire is now burning over 19,000 acres and nearly 4,000 people are working. the fire. the

grandparents of a teen killed in a deadly crash wednesday night are speaking out. the crash happened on highway 12 in rio vista, an area that has a history of major crashes. kron four's amanda hari has the story. >> love happy. >> that's how bob and diane conway, a vacaville, described their 19 year-old granddaughter lacey slices or not. bob says early thursday morning there was a sheriff's deputy at his door. he told him that lease he was in a car accident she right. he said now. rio vista police say the crash happened just after 08:00pm on wednesday on highway 12 between somerset and church. roads. police say the honda lacy was in was traveling westbound in veered off the road. >> the driver overcorrected and entered the eastbound lane colliding head-on with another vehicle. lacey calder.

>> have sister and said she had been drinking. couldn't drive. as for >> lacy was ejected from the honda during the crash. all 3 people in that car, including lacey, were killed. the other vehicle had 7 people in it. one died. police say there were several open containers of alcohol found in the honda. there's a lot to answer >> still shock. so this family. waiting for that open. >> both grandparents were close with lacey. bob has a tattoo of her name on his arm and she returned the gesture just recently >> to put on with the heart that i am. just that she wanted to do that. the conway's have a message for young people. >> who may make a choice

similar to the one lacy made all straight have a designated driver in vacaville amanda hari kron. 4 news. >> and the east bay, a woman is under arrest after running over 2 people and walnut creek killing one of them. police are calling it a dui related incidents and kron four's felecia call has the details. >> speed and intoxicated driver and a narrow roadway proved to be a deadly combination in downtown walnut creek saturday morning. >> yeah, that said it's de astating to hear that just before 2 o'clock in the morning. this group of friends visiting from new jersey heard the crash from their hotel across the street. walnut creek. police say an officer in the area of north main and pine streets also heard the collision and responded to north main and warrants way. that's where the officer found 2 pedestrians hit by the 28 year-old woman behind the wheel of the pickup truck that ran them over. one person died on scene and the other was

>> president joe biden declared a federal disaster in more than a dozen kentucky counties making them eligible for direct relief, money, search and rescue operations continue in parts of kentucky devastated by floods. at least 25 people have died, including 4 children. and that number is expected to grow some residents of appalachia return to their homes yesterday to salvage what they could mud and debris from torrential rains covered homes and businesses and some lost everything. kentucky's governor says crews have made more than 1200 rescues from helicopters and boats. and for your money this morning, jetblue's takeover of spirit airlines could be changes to air travel, but the justice department still has to approve a 3.8 billion dollar deal. now, if that deal is approved, it will make jetblue the 5th largest airline in the u.s.. that's right behind american delta, united and

southwest. it would also make front here which failed to take over spirit. the largest discount airline. jetblue says its goal is to offer lower fares that compete with the 4 major airlines and its plans to retrofit spirits, planes that can offer more leg room and amenities. now the company gets the green light. the deal is expected to close in early 2024. >> we'll be fighting more cloud cover even inland. for today. temperatures reduced, though, for this time of year only into the 80's. keeping an eye, though, as we get into tomorrow for possibly a little isolated thunder shower

develop or worsen. serious allergic reactions may occur. watch me. ask your rheumatologist about cosentyx. >> welcome back to the kron. 4 morning news taking a live look outside at san francisco this morning. it's expected to be another nice day today all across the bay area. meteorologist dave spahr is with us now. dave, how's the day going to shape up? >> camilla, good morning. good morning, everybody. and we'll be dealing with a lot of cloud be dealing with a lot of cloud cover. little help suppress starting things off its covering up the golden gate, not unusual, but also the cloud cover. you'll notice in the south bay as well. and we'll see that cloud cover linger. even in those inland locations into the afternoon. but everything works in tandem to keep those temperatures down with gets more interesting is we may start to cook up some monsoon isolated showers or right now a little bit as appearing up on radar here. this is all aloft and it's going through relatively dry air. and i say that

because when you go up in the atmosphere, the dew points are not really dropping so much. but the temperature rises big-time. that's also said it with our typical inversion. think. but what it means is some of this rain is going to relatively dry air. so that's why we don't always get it at the surface. still, though, we've reported a little in the way of some rain on the east bay shoreline overnight, a bit and the possibilities there today. but on balance, most folks are to see a lot of cloud cover today. mild temperatures, little bit more humidity to throw in the mix. but tomorrow we're getting some cells that are bubbling up that look more interesting in the forecast now, the of everything. it's very clear to monsoon outbreak. look at the flow flow pattern. all of this coming out of the 4 corner states. it's typical this time of year. now having said all that, we jumpers futurecast for and you can see all the cloud cover hanging here. and as we get the daytime heating, the flareup happens around yosemite. also up to tahoe both today and through tomorrow, aided by some daytime heating, saw little patch develop there in the east bay. that may happen a little bit late tonight

overnight by tomorrow morning. we're socked in with the cloud cover and the fog. there's the flare up still continuing overnight in the mountains, it loses some of its punch temporarily because rain tends to stabilize the atmosphere. but as you can see in the afternoon, more heating away, we go. meanwhile, the home front looks like we've got some folks, the sun coming out here to give us energy only to flare up an isolated shower or thundershower, too. so that's we're going to watch. and it's kind of seems weird. but every time we get that daytime heating, you get energy to the atmosphere temperature check for you. we've got lower 60's on the map right now. 66 antioch, 58 up to santa rosa. 63 san jose. we've got mostly cloudy today on balance, mild conditions, breezy in spots and 80's even well inland tomorrow, mostly cloudy. we'll see some clear patches try to develop an isolated thunder shower. seems to be kind of favoring a little bit up there. the north bay a bit. we'll be following it as we get closer. monsoon moisture is responsible for this. and then for next week or this week, coming up, we should say variable clouds early in the

week, then clearing out later in the week. and 90's return heading into next weekend again for today. we got 65 san francisco, 70 for oakland and out of the south bay will give a variable clouds and mild temperature board. upper 80's will try for those well inland locations, but still some 70's up there to the north bay valais, whoa, obviously the winds at work there at 67 will have your 4 zone forecast a bit. camilla. >> all right. thanks, dave. those got u.s.. police have arrested 5 people accused of stealing from an apple store in walnut creek. the theft happened yesterday morning and the broadway plaza shopping mall. investigators say they found a car connected to the theft and 2 people who matched the description. now in that car, police found 2 loaded guns, including one go sky officers located 3 additional suspects in a separate car linked to the theft with the stolen apple merchandise. 2 of the 5 arrested are juveniles and the group is facing various charges, including organized retail, theft, possession of stolen property

and firearm related charges. on the peninsula. police have made an arrest after a man is stabbed to death in east palo alto. investigators say the killing happened around 11 o'clock friday night at a home on cooley street. police say 47 year-old are now mckean stabbed 50 year-old mario ventura during a heated argument. this is east palo alto's 4th homicide of the year. and the east bay, a 24 year-old new york man has died from his injuries after a fight that happened about a week ago. newark police say they responded to a fight shortly before 08:00pm on friday, july 22nd. the incident happened near wells avenue and asked treat and police say the victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was treated at local hospital. but he died on friday. and at this time his name has not been released. in the south bay. one person is hurt after being struck by a caltrain yesterday afternoon in santa

clara. it happened near main street around 2.30. the person was taken to a local hospital and their condition is unknown at this time. caltrain says there were about 72 passengers on board the train at the time and none of them were hurt. trains were stopped briefly for the investigation and they were moving again by 03:45pm. officials from across the state gathered in sacramento yesterday to honor fallen firefighters, garage. paulson goo has the story. >> it's everyone didn't exist. >> max fortuna stocked. >> but for the families of fallen firefighters, their colleagues and community members, it's an evening to remember and honor their sacrifices a lot emotions. this year marked the 20th anniversary of the california

with a look at the forecast with dave spahr davis looking a little cloudy. but as a son going to peak through, you will have some peaks in the sun going on here. yeah, good morning, camila. good morning, everybody. >> a live shot of the embarcadero and more importantly their the exploratorium, the ghost of doctor frank. you know, light is right now. so don't walk. we're looking a lot of cloud cover and fog in around the immediate bay to start things off. but again, we'll see some breaks starting to happen as we get into the afternoon. this is all nice temperatures to press into now. we do see a couple little radar echoes that are are appearing. most of them are off to shore and extend a little bit up to the north bay. so there is that outside chance you could get a sprinkle or 2 thrown in the mixture. what's more impressive as what we see into tomorrow afternoon evening. once we get some daytime heating. but here's the general flow pattern. when you see it like this, this is all coming up from the south or the southeast. and that's the summer. this is definitely without question. it's already done a lot of work. and the desert southwest and venturing up to the north covering all the way up to oregon. you can see. so it's going a lot of

coverage here. 60's off to the east bay for right now. 64 napa. 61 for bottle. 58 for santa rosa with 63 for san jose. so we'll keep cloud cover in the in the skies all day today. some little bit of clearing trying to work in here inland by about 2 o'clock or so with temperatures only venturing into the 80's. now, that's going to be the case early in the week and we're not to return to the 90's even inland until the middle of the week. we'll get a little bit more and you're longer range forecast. plus a 4 zone as well. coming >> alright, gave the city of palo alto is planning to set up a parking lot at a church to house those living in cars and rvs. but residents who live nearby are concerned about safety. kron four's gayle ong has the story. >> this parking lot at first congressional church of palo alto is on its way to be the city's next safe parking lot. a program created last year aimed to help residents living in cars and rvs the safe parking program allows overnight parking for up to 4 vehicles at the church's

parking lot. why consider ourselves to be very fortunate live in an area like we do? >> there are people that aren't as fortunate. so that's the least that the church can wesley challah palette to with the city, but at a community meeting earlier this month, the city heard from neighbors who do not support the program. >> a number of people asking had repeal the city's plans. it's clear that there are some folks who are afraid of what this might mean. the church is associate pastor eileen altman could not be reached for comment on saturday. >> but spoke at a virtual meeting acknowledging people's concerns. many worried about safety and the lack of background checks which the city says the state limits how they are used in emergency housing. >> also, santa clara county, who was paying for the program does not provide funding for background checks. we recognize that that there is anxiety about this and >> and just to know that we're not unaware that there is that there is some worry, but that

identified as jose a mile from owes he was shot as the suspects took off in different directions. no one else was hurt. now for your money this morning, a report released this week by affordable housing advocates calls the bay area the most expensive place to rent in america. it included a look at how much someone would need to make in an hour in order to afford a 2 bedroom apartment in an order to rent a two-bedroom apartment in san francisco, san mateo and marin county. a tenant needs to make $61 and $0.50 an hour to rent a two-bedroom apartment and san jose sonny bill, santa clara, it's $55 and $0.15 an hour. and in oakland, fremont renters need to make about $43 an hour to afford the same space. and that's based on the full-time hourly wages. people need to make to afford something at fair market rent all while spending. no more

shooting in san jose. it happened. >> on the 300 block bar cart barker road. >> san jose police say 2 men were injured. one was taken to a local hospital and the other has life threatening injuries. the investigation is ongoing and police say they will release more information later today. and happening tomorrow, the monkeypox vaccine clinic at zuckerberg sf general hospital will reopen for walk-in appointments on thursday. san francisco received 4200 doses of the vaccine clinic at sf general will be open from 08:00am to noon every day until vaccines run out. this is video of lines that form during the last walk in clinic at sf general. and despite the new shipment of vaccines, mayor london breed says the city has received nowhere near enough as of last thursday, the mayor says the city had received 12,000 vaccines to date, but they need 70,000 that same

>> and welcome back to the kron. 4 morning news taking a live look outside at the golden gate bridge this morning. we can't even see the bridge. dave are off to a foggy start this morning. >> yeah, that's the case around the bay. that's a very, very typical. we're seeing that at gates here. yeah. and we should see some clearing out of around of this fog a little quicker than we saw from yesterday. however, cloud cover is going to remain the

shot coming in from san jose state. and here we see ernest cloud cover going on here. this isn't fog. that's just the monsoon clouds that are overhead a little bit here. we have a kind of interesting situation, although we have monsoon moisture in the mid layers of the atmosphere. what we have is a warmer layer that goes through. so the relative humidity above us is much lower than at the surface. so any rain that falls, it still deals with little bit of of operation too. speaking on that note, couple splotches are appearing here on radar now. some of this is probably about brady before striking the ground. but something to watch out for and you can continue to see the flow pattern coming in from the 4 corner states. clearly of a monsoon pattern that we have. this is going to be the case until that front drop south and kind of cleans out or atmosphere a little bit back to future cast for we'll see some clearing in the east bay going on for today. they're about 2 o'clock. what's going on? still quite a bit of cloud cover. as in the mountains, it will continue to churn with those showers and thunder showers. even in the afternoon like that overnight. look at this is still holding together a little bit, not much energy

and his name has not been released. and the south bay, one person is hurt after being struck by a caltrain yesterday afternoon in santa clara. it happened near main street around 2.30. the person was taken to a local hospital and their condition is unknown at this time. caltrain says there were about 72 passengers on board at the time and none of them were hurt. trains were stopped briefly for the investigation and they were moving again by 3.45 in the afternoon. los gatos police have arrested 5 people accused of stealing from an apple store in walnut creek. the theft happened yesterday morning in the broadway plaza shopping mall. investigators say they found a car connected to the theft and 2 people who matched the description in that car. police found 2 loaded guns, including one ghost gun officers located 3 additional suspects in a separate car linked to the theft with the stolen apple merchandise. now 2 of the 5

say 2 men were injured. one was taken to a local hospital and the other has life-threatening injuries. now that investigation is ongoing and police say they will release more information latpr today. and just a couple of blocks away from that shooting. san jose police are also investigating what they say is a suspicious car fire that happened just before 06:00am a man was found dead in the car and this was in the area of pomona avenue and barnard avenue. police have not said if this is connected to the shooting, we have reached out to both the police department and the fire department for more information. and of course, we will keep you updated all day on air and online at kron 4 dot com. now happening tomorrow, the monkeypox vaccine clinic at zuckerberg sf general hospital will reopen on thursday. san francisco received 4200 doses of the vaccine clinic at sf. general will be open from
