podcast showing you foggy conditions in places like san francisco, oakland, even napa. as we fast for o'clock, you can see around 7.38 o'clock things will slowly start to change. but it's foggy right now. temperatures cooler than yesterday. temperatures right now santa rosa. 57, you can see san jose. we're looking at 59 half moon bay. 56, even san francisco at 56. any looking at 62 concord 60's. so temperatures again, a little bit cooler than yesterday. that's the good news. it's not too bad. it's a little breezy, though. so cooler temperatures today, but that warm up is headed our way. i tell you everything you need to know to prepare for your work day. coming up in about 15 minutes. we'll see you soon. well, there were 2 california highway patrol officers that are being credited for possibly saving a woman's life after a fiery crash on i-580, in dublin. >> kron four's amanda hari spoke to one of the officers about what exactly happened and how the woman is doing now. >> i just know that that blood was not. >> was not circulating. so

that was that was the big thing to end. just happy we got there. we did around 2.50 wednesday morning, california highway patrol officer able moran. >> was working at typical shift. >> when you got called to a multi vehicle crash, blocking the fast lane of i-580, westbound just east of north livermore avenue. >> tell that one of the vehicles was completely on fire. >> from the distance, officer moran told me his first concern was that someone was inside the vehicle. luckily there wasn't. but there was a woman on the ground. >> she was unresponsive. officers determined there was 2 separate crashes. the first involved, a solo female driver who crashed into a concrete wall. the crash left the woman's toyota camry resting in the fast lane. officers say she exited the car. that's what a nissan altima crashed into the camry and forcefully knocked the woman to the ground. chp says the camry went up in flames. that's when officers arrived and started

to try and help her really quickly check your right there. and it's feel anything. officer moran and sergeant michael thomas moved her to a safer location. >> and started performing cpr. a civilian pulled over to help decisions. assistant actually a stop by with jason elliott. >> what he could do. >> he assisted the cpr as well. livermore, pleasant fire department and folk ambulance personnel transported her to eat in the hospital. the next day i went to the hospital to check on her condition. >> they said she was in critical condition. the dublin area commander says he's proud of both officers involved, quote. >> their bravery and willingness to risk their lives is honorable. these officers lived up to their sworn oath, says public protectors had it not been for their quick thinking and actions woman could have been injured further, possibly dying. >> they're true heroes. it's this is what you want to do.

>> and it's it results her. life being saved. been. that's the best. that's the best thing possible. that's that's a highlight of my career. amanda hari kron, 4 news. >> and the south bay fire damage to buildings in san jose. this happened along hana street near interstate 2.80, and la scott is creek. firefighters were called out to the scene shortly after 12, 30 yesterday afternoon. thankfully, no injuries were reported. but the cause of this fire is still under investigation. there's a new wildfire that prompted mandatory evacuations over nevada county. it's called the pleasant fire and that one broke out around 4.30, yesterday afternoon and has already burned. 47 acres near owl creek road and lost ranch way. this is west of nevada city. these are pictures are from cal fire. the fire is 10% contained. we do have an update now to another fire burning near clear lake. that

one is being called the point fire. this is video from one of our viewers. it broke out last night near the anderson road and pan around a road west of lower lake in lake county. so far it's burned 14 acres and is 80% contained. the mountain lion was spotted near a golf course in rohnert park. officers responded last night to the foxtail golf course but were unable to find a mountain lion. police are reminding residents to be careful. exercise caution and call them if you do see a mountain lion in the area. happening today, it's a giant race in san francisco. the 10 k and 5 k races will end up at oracle park. kron four's camila barco is live in the city this morning with the details. camilla, what are you seeing out there? >> we're seeing a lot of people dressed in orange and black to sf giants the colors. but these people, they're not here to watch a baseball game. instead, they are running

inside that baseball fi ld after they are done running through the embarcadero. this is the 13th annual san francisco giants race and take a look at what it entails. runners will start here oracle park and then the runners will head out to the embarcadero and the race finishes. like i said on the baseball field and getting people giants experience this year's races going back to pre pandemic times. organizers are hosting the 5 k and 10 k race last year. it was only the 5 k because of covid and they scaled it back to one day. but this weekend organizers set up a health and wellness expo. they also had the kids right now. today dozens of runners will get to the experience of san francisco giant re still be able to take pictures on the home plate after they have finished the race with nice well deserved to meddle. and organizers are still keeping the virtual option where people can do the race at their own ways and on their time at this race kicks off in

>> the california department of health will be referring to monkeypox virus pox the viral disease. first got its name because it was studied in monkeys. in the 1950's the state lead agency will be using the new name explaining historically monkey was used as a racist term. so again, they are now referring to the virus pox or just mpx in written documents for about a week now, the world health organization is working to find a new name for the disease. and it's happening what they're calling an open consultation for anyone who wants to propose a name to do so online. happening today, a monkey pox vaccine clinic will

>> welcome back. we're taking a live look outside at the san mateo bridge this morning. traffic looking good, but things will be cooling down today in terms of weather. meteorologist brittany begley is here with a look at your weekend forecast. yeah, it was hot yesterday. in fact, yesterday was the hottest day of the week and get this sunday is going to the coolest day of the week. some had a little bit of everything this weekend. but the main story for us right now after walking out that door, you doing chores going to church or enjoy that second cup of coffee? some places are foggy. let's talk about you can see right here in berkeley. yeah, it's foggy this morning. so again, make surely early. make sure you use your low beams. the headlines really cooler today. air quality, not as bad as yesterday. so we are

the face and held her against her will she managed to call 9-1-1. it snapped a photo of the suspect when he got off the train at the el serino del norte, a station police arrested the suspect. 21 year-old lead when meson enrichment. >> the contra costa district attorney's office has charged the man of attempted rape, battery and assault. the woman does not want to share her identity, but she wants to alert everyone to be safe and wants increased security on bart on saturday, a bart police car could be seen at the el serino del norte, a station. this writer says she will be more aware of her surroundings. i feel safe as you can be. >> it's just a matter and taking necessary precautions is seen with calling you back that sort of thing. >> the san francisco bay area council, a group that represents many of the bay area's largest employers called the attack horrific and unacceptable and is calling on barr to redouble its efforts to address concerns about crime and safety. barr responded in a statement to kron 4. it reads in part,

quote, barred is working to increase safety for girls and gender, expansive ute. there are not one more girl campaign to end harassment and gender-based violence on transit. and barr has a network of more than 4,000 surveillance cameras throughout the system that are monitored by police in operations, staff and real-time in 2 different locations. in el serino, gayle ong kron. 4 news. >> a 4 year-old boy was kicked out of school in the south bay for refusing to wear a mask in class. this happened at higher coffee elementary school in mountain view. the boy's father recorded the moment when the school principal tells him to take his son home. and as an escorted by a campus police officer. the boy's father says and he's tried for several days to send his son to school with a mask. but his son says he finds someone comfortable. the father also saying that his son was inconsolable when trying to get him to wear one. the mountain view school district has since eased up the mask mandate after santa

clara county was no longer considered a high risk for covid transmission. so masks are still required on buses in band and choir as well as large events and for campus visitors. the mountain view wiseman schools, superintendent released a statement saying in part, quote, i'm disappointed the civil discourse is no longer the rule. while i understand that not everyone will agree with every position we take. it is completely unacceptable to harass an employee in such a way that they and parents no longer feel safe with their own school. bay area wildlife rescuers celebrated the recovery of the peregrine falcon that they nursed back to health. but they had one last hurdle to overcome successfully returning the bird back to the wild. it's a flying tails trip that we're calling the flight of the falcon. ken wayne has the details. >> she doesn't have a name or even much of a backstory. all we know is this bird was found

injured near carlsbad and wildlife specialist said she was unlikely to survive in the wild. there was significant documentation of a lot of head trauma and want to i shoes at that time. >> the peregrine falcon is considered the fastest animal on earth. flying up to 200 miles an hour to snatching spray. and i've seen catch that on the so as patrick flying out from, you know, routes, they're just flying, catching them on air and land on the ground, just pull them apart. state fish and wildlife sent the bird to sonoma wildlife rescue near petaluma. >> we also have. enclosure. it's actually called the raptor recovery center. it's 100 foot building with flight delays and an area where you could live test a bird of prey to make sure that they can't survived by catching their own. pray. >> it was during its rehabilitation here that a doctor found that the bird and made a remarkable recovery and instead of living its life in an enclosure, it might be fit enough to be set free with to

make sure that it still have the appropriate behavior temperaments and a wild animal. >> and we had to make sure that its flight capacity was appropriate because it was an old wing injury as well. and so we went through all of parameters and over the course of a couple weeks that did but it's a 500 mile drive to carlsbad added stress to an already high strong animal. the falcon was put in a small cardboard box. and within minutes we were airborne. >> 3 and a half hours later, we were turning for final at carlsbad. >> on the ground, we were met by volunteer jerry maguire who took possession of the falcon for the last phase. the release a few minutes later, he was at a nearby reservoir for the falcon that had been on them. and since last february, i was finally returned home. that is the war

for all spoke with a witness who heard the gunshots and has the story. >> alex returned to central plaza in union city to pick her car up saturday afternoon and she could not move it about 12 hours earlier friday night because it was trapped in a crime scene pretty scary. just kind of had to stay calm make sure that everybody was ok for families. late dinner at maybe colin do on alvarado. niles road was interrupted at around midnight. she says security guards calmly scored a couple of people arguing and pushing each other inside and de-escalated the situation in the parking lot. within 5 minutes. one of the security guards came in. and then after >> we heard shots fired were sitting front window. >> so we all just knocked down. union city police say 2 men. 28 29 years old, respectively wounded, suffering non-life-threatening injuries. police say they are victims in our 4 years. we've never had an encounter like this restaurant co-owner along

so by is says the incident does not make sense because it's believed the people who were arguing left before shots were fired. he says another car showed up and at least one person opened fire on a group of people in the lot. >> there's car debris on the pavement because the restaurant patron got spooked by the gunfire and crashed in an attempt to speed away. we want to maintain a good reputation. >> and have customers feel like they're safe, bringing their families and kids here. i mean, hopefully it's something people understand. it was out of our control. i feel safe. i think the city safe is just >> wrong place. wrong time. you know, when people at this time no arrests have been announced in union city, phillipe djegal all kron. 4 news. >> the search continues for sixteen-year-old kiley, rodney, making it now. 2 weeks since she went missing, you need dive team that specializes in cracking cold cases will now be searching through donner lake to help solve her mysterious disappearance. reporter rowena shaddox has the details.

>> the cold morning began before 8 o'clock with adventures with purpose. the search and rescue dive team assisting the challenge ahead at donner lake. originally from oregon. the team has millions of followers on their youtube channel and are known for traveling around the country for a special purpose. >> in the last 2 years they've solved. 23 cold cases for family members of loved ones who've been missing some for decades is when you miss it. loved one or friend. >> we're a community member and you don't know. it's a nightmare. so what we provide is is those answers. when we're able to that's what we're hoping to do in this the 6 man team arrive for their next mission. even before the sun rose it 15 to 20 million viewers per month. >> there was an overwhelming demand not only by multiple

as part of a national enforcement campaign called drivers. drive sober or get pulled over law help get drunk drivers off the streets and the campaign will run until september. and the north bay, 6 pop-up events were held in sonoma and marin counties to encourage residents to conserve water. the sonoma marin, water partnership held the events yesterday and handed out water saving tools and devices. this is video from one of the pop ups over in santa rosa held outside of the friedman's home improvement store. residents picked up things like water buckets, low flow, shower, heads hose nozzles and toilet leak detection tablets. other pop ups were held over in healdsburg petaluma sonoma mill valley and davao. happening today, the annual sunday street san francisco is held in these soma district this time and it will feature free fun activities for the entire family. plus, 1.4 miles

who crashed into a concrete wall. the crash left the woman's toyota camry resting in the fast lane. officers say she exited the car. that's what a nissan altima crashed into the camry and forcefully knocked the woman to the ground. chp says the camry went up in flames. that's when officers arrived and started to try and help her really quickly check your right there. and it's feel anything. officer moran and sergeant michael thomas moved her to a safer location. >> and started performing cpr. a civilian pulled over to help decisions. assistant actually a stop by with jason elliott. what he could do. >> he assisted the cpr as well. livermore, pleasant fire department and folk ambulance personnel transported her to eat in the hospital. the next day i went to the hospital to check on her condition.

richmond to san francisco kron four's gayle ong. reports of the victim is now calling on barr to improve security. >> it was 11:30am, wednesday when a bart passenger on her way to work says a man came up behind her and put his hands down her shirt. she said when she told him to stop, he punched her multiple times in the face and held her against her will she managed to call 9-1-1. it snapped a photo of the suspect when he got off the train at the el serino del norte, a station. bart police arrested the suspect. 21 year-old lead when meson enrichment. >> the contra costa district attorney's office has charged the man of attempted rape, battery and assault. the woman does not want to share her identity, but she wants to alert everyone to be safe and wants increased security on bart on saturday, a bart police car could be seen at the el serino del norte, a station. this writer says she will be more aware of her surroundings. i feel safe as you can be. >> it's just a matter and taking necessary precautions is seen with calling you back that sort of thing.

are celebrating the foods that he ate. during the depression. but survived so well. who we are today and how we eat the exact same foods incredibly. crazy because those foods have lasted and lingered. so you see and i'm so glad i love that. you put those pictures up. we've actually put on display the foods, the containers, the kinds of things that the people of the 30's actually 8 and used, including tools that we have today. and so things have not gone awry. they stay the same. and we're so grateful that we can celebrate this incredible man through the eyes of food. and we know that food is love right? and we have to remember that he's given us this land. which we now have his home on in an apricot orchard. and

that was that was the big thing to end. just happy we got there. we did around 2.50 wednesday morning, california highway patrol officer able moran. >> was working at typical shift. >> when you got called to a multi vehicle crash, blocking the fast lane of i-580, westbound just east of north livermore avenue. >> tell that one of the vehicles was completely on fire. >> from the distance, officer moran told me his first concern was that someone was inside the vehicle. luckily there wasn't. but there was a woman on the ground. >> she was unresponsive. officers determined there was 2 separate crashes. the first involved, a solo female driver who crashed into a concrete wall. the crash left the woman's toyota camry resting in the fast lane. officers say she exited the car. that's what a nissan altima crashed into the camry and forcefully knocked the woman to the ground. chp says the camry went up in flames. that's when officers arrived and started

to try and help her really quickly check your right there. and it's feel anything. officer moran and sergeant michael thomas moved her to a safer location. >> and started performing cpr. a civilian pulled over to help decisions. assistant actually a stop by with jason elliott. what he could do. >> he assisted the cpr as well. livermore, pleasant fire department and folk ambulance personnel transported her to eat in the hospital. the next day i went to the hospital to check on her condition. >> they said she was in critical condition. the dublin area commander says he's proud of both officers involved, quote. >> their bravery and willingness to risk their lives is honorable. these officers lived up to their sworn oath, says public protectors had it not been for their quick thinking and actions woman could have been injured further, possibly dying. >> they're true heroes. it's this is what you want to do.
