notice what? we don't have anything going on in terms of fog that marine layer is kind of out to lunch and it just gets drier. when you go higher up. >> in the atmosphere now tomorrow, different story i want to run goes through. here's overnight. here comes the fog back again tomorrow morning. we'll probably see some bay area fog the clearing process is what may delay the high temperatures a little bit for tomorrow, but it's basically high pressure over the west coast were familiar with all of that. again, a lot of dry air above us. so we we don't have any monsoon problems or anything like that with above air moisture to worry about 50's going on over the east bay, 60 for antioch, 50's up to the north bay with 56, san francisco. but climb we will have today winds, not much of anything really all this weekend and early into next week. we don't see any when's going on with this dry air even on shore and about 82 is expected by 11 by 2. at about 90 today will be the hottest in the bunch. we'll take a look at your weekend forecast. looks like in a bit. camilla. >> all right. thanks this

morning. bart trains are up and running in the transbay tube after a power issue caused several delays. commuters were frightened and bart riders were encouraged to look for other ways to get in and out of the city. kron four's dan thorn talked with one of the rescued passengers who was on the train that got stuck. >> you know what? of our train, blackened and stock because of a power failure in the transbay tube. >> cell phone, flashlights. the only way for hundreds of passengers to see and i do suffer from anxiety. i know that if i were to start or having an anxiety would not help at all. and the pool at soft this summer. but this just row, kate, trying to keep her cool as she and other trapped bart riders were confused and worried it was concerning the amount of time that taking commission's or police to figure out what was

going on. the doomed train was on its way from west oakland to the embarcadero friday morning before a rescue, the electrical issue kept passengers in limbo for more than 2 hours. the outage creating systemwide problems as bart officials told riders to expect major we apologize for the poor level of service we had this morning, although it was putin problem. >> we understand that inconvenienced many thousands of people in the bay area and did not live up to the standards. >> to which we hold ourselves, many regular bart riders opted for ferries to get across the bay because the platforms were packed with people was super packed. very slow, overcrowded. the service delays and cancellations also bringing about disappointment by all of the fix part because he's great way of transportation's. riddick has citibank. some press is good. doesn't have a better way of transportation broke. a is also hoping for improvements on bart, especially when

something like this happen. i'm just glad nobody had a number medical emergency, at least in that rain that i was. >> now we're ok later told is that she was planning to take uber to avoid any more part disruptions. part was able to restore service almost 11 o'clock last night. now friday's incident is the latest in a string of problems for bar in recent weeks. last sunday, bart service temporarily stopped in the transbay tube because 2 trains broke down between embarcadero and lake merritt. then friday, september 16th, there was a deadly crash involving a motorcyclist that disrupted service in downtown oakland for several hours leading to chaos at west oakland station. now open. police are investigating another deadly shooting. it happened before 02:00pm friday at 44th and international. the suspects tried to rob a brinks armored truck. 3 people were shot and one of them died at the scene. a brinks employee and a by standard were injured. and

this is the city's 90nd homicide of the year. >> it's been a tough weekend. a city of we obviously have seen several homicides this week. we ask the community to continue to bring forth information, help us solve these crimes. we also asked the community to to help get rid of the guns that continue to plague our community. >> now police haven't identified any suspects, but they are looking for a white car. the head, several people in it. oakland police are warning people about a spike in robberies at atms. and many of the cases the victims were robbed right after completing the transaction and walking away from the atm. police are reminding people to check your surroundings before approaching and atm. they also advise people to choose an atm in a busy well lit area. and after getting your cash, put it away quickly, don't count that in public if you're being followed, they ask that you call 9-1-1 or drive to a

police department or fire station. berkeley police are looking for a woman accused of trying to lure a 12 year bull. a 12 year-old boy into her car. it happened tuesday night near sacramento avenue and addison street. police say the boy was riding a scooter on the sidewalk when a woman stopped her car and tried to convince the boy to get inside. now he refused but told officers the woman then followed him in her car. the child managed to get away and police think the incident may be related to one that happened last month in the area of allston way and mckinley avenue involving a 13 year-old girl. now witnesses described the woman as 30 to 40 years old about 5 foot 4 with a chubby build. she has black hair in a bun driving a newer model, white honda or toyota sedan. anyone with information about this is asked to call the berkeley police. a man has been arrested after being suspected

of shooting a gun into a boys and girls club in redwood city. police say it happened last month when he shot at that youth center building and hoover park. the intended victim was not hit and no injuries were reported. officers arrested. 32 year-old jorge gomez on wednesday. investigators say he had an illegal gun, almost an ounce of meth and more than $3,000 in cash. they believe that money may have come from drug sales. now coming up on the kron 4 morning news, a school district is asking the city of san jose for more traffic safety. >> after a young boy was killed walking to school last week. plus, an update on puerto rico has more than half of the people continue to be without power after hurricane fiona slammed the island. and after the break, new developments in the case of cal poly flow student kristin smart, who disappeared in 1996. coming up. the deal. the suspects attorneys are looking to make with prosecutors.

no. and that's good on that front. so we're going have a couple kind of really warm days hot, well inland. and then when this starts to break down, we get the return to the onshore. winds are right that bring some moisture and we'll see some fog probably developing tomorrow, handing it over to future cast for not a whole lot to see. but it's just going to watch it go through because there is a little nuance here going on today. of course, looking great, looking wonderful there at the beach of this. just the computer kind of going crazy with the moisture. the service ok tonight, what happens that fog comes back again, hitting the east bay shoreline a little bit. so we'll see some of that stubborn fog. probably tomorrow. and that sometimes can have a little impact on temperatures. bring him down a little bit along the east bay shoreline in the coast going on for tomorrow's highs ever. so slightly won't notice it so much and we'll know. got 50's over most of the east bay, antioch. you've got 64 50's up to the north bay. 56. meanwhile, 4 san francisco golden gate bridge. beautiful picture there. no intrusion of fog. not much the way of wind either going on at this hour.

speaking of which feature cast winds next. 48 hours somewhat uneventful, you know, even with a thermal gradient that tends to dry the onshore winds. we get a little bit of that in the afternoon. and those typically windy locations. you'll get a bit of an afternoon breeze towards the delta. the carquinez strait, but not as much as we're going to see later in the week. so this high is going what they typically do. they shut off a lot of the surface winds vertical to. but along the horizontal surface winds there will get as much action. so sunny and warm hot inland near about 80 for the bay 90's inland. so it'll flavor some are going on here tomorrow. chip away at that a little bit along the coast with some fog in the morning inland. you're still well in the 90's. and that is going to take over even into next week. we're going to see a lot of 90's until we get to the middle portion of the weekend. will back off a little bit today. 81 san francisco downtown part one of the last 80's. we'll see for a while. there are 85 for oakland and meanwhile, san jose's coming in at 90 across the wider geography. plenty of 90's off to the east bay, lower 90's, upper 80's up to the north, 81 against san francisco, but

half moon bay. 71 again, the fog isn't help chip away at that by tomorrow. we'll take a look at your 4 zone forecast coming up. and also that extended to good deal. >> thinks the campell unified school district is asking the city of san jose to focus more on crosswalk safety after a car hit and killed an 8 year-old boy last friday night happened near on elementary school. jacob villanueva and his babysitter walking to school on a marked crosswalk when they were hit. the babysitter was badly injured. and now the school district is asking the city for more for money for crossing guards, increased traffic enforcement in zones near schools and maintenance of those crosswalks. they also are looking at a public safety campaign focused on safe driving near school zones. the school district has 8 schools within the city of san jose. now school districts in the area are the only ones concerned with traffic safety. there are growing calls to make city streets safer for

pedestrians in san jose. the city is marking nearly 50 traffic deaths for this year. kron four's justin campbell spoke with neighbors who are asking for the change. >> we're in the cambridge and neighborhood just blocks away from reed elementary school. and if you look behind me, you can see here at corning drive and chambers. there are no stop signs. san jose police say there haven't been any wrecks, but according to neighbors, there was one. >> miss video caught the moment these white mercedes crashed into a blue subaru. >> loud crash. first thing in the morning. one of the cars looks totaled. just converse as he worries because there are no stop signs. another neighbor feels the same. a lot of times cars are going very fast. >> and given that there is no stop sign, cars can come in like each other like what happened friday morning. but according to san jose police, these crash where the airbags went off, never happened to san jose police. i reached out to them and they said that there was not even a wreck here. i can't really speak to

that. they're definitely police vehicles here. i saw 2 wrecked cars. there was a tow truck kron. 4 reached out to san jose police in an email sjpd said no crash occurred and frankly asking us if we're sure is disingenuous thing to do something the can. and just tonight accident then happened. yes or has also complained to the city 3 times and is hoping stop signs will be put up for safety. as i have 3 kids and i don't want to be a victim. you can hear the sound of the crash in the video. you can also see the squad cars in the pictures will be taking that to san jose police to figure out exactly why they're saying no crash occurred here reporting in san jose. justin campbell kron. 4 news. >> now in the south bay, transportation officials are urging people to pay attention to the rules around train tracks. >> the kids are trying to run across the street against the light or if they're trying to beat the that the crossing gates, they're going to be

reminding them to please obey thetrules and the laws that are out here today. >> now the vta spokesperson says over the past few years, 3 people have died and one percent was seriously hurt because they ignored traffic signs several times throughout the year. they'll have santa clara county sheriff's deputies out on the streets to educate unaware people on the dangers of being around the train tracks. youth. he is climate activists took to the streets of oakland demanding policymakers and world leaders prioritize the future of the planet over profits. they rally at frank ogawa plaza flower followed by a march down in downtown advocates -% with the group youth versus apocalypse are calling for climate reparations. they say climate change is hitting marginalized communities. the hardest and those groups should be compensated for the actions of wealthy corporations. friday's march was part of a climate strike,

there's been no reports of any major damage now before reaching bermuda, fiona caused severe flooding in puerto rico where more than half a million people are still without water and power so far has been blamed for at least 5 deaths. more than 60% of people in puerto rico still have no power. that's 5 days after hurricane fiona slammed the island. take a look at most of the people affected are in the northeast. part of the island, grocery stores, pharmacies and other businesses there are running on generat rs. some have even closed temporarily at gas stations there. now long lines, although officials insist there's no shortage most water, however, most water services, however, have now been restored. now, still ahead on the kron, 4 morning news, ukraine is pushing east to reclaim territories as russian soldiers go door to door for votes. door for votes. >> in polls.

latest. dave hot weather. the last few days can catch a break and it's going to be a cool down. and, you know, there's going to be more of that to go along. i know it's the first, though week of fall. coming up first full week doing this and we're going to see temperatures quite warm, hot. >> in fact, starting offer today now inland, you're not going to really feel difference until we get to the middle of the week. but along the coast i start feeling a little bit of a change by tomorrow, but enjoy this weekend. it's a nice little summer. if you will, after we got some of the necessary rain last weekend, east bay shoreline start to fill in with a little bit of sunshine as we speak right now. but it's the high pressure that we're always familiar with, the kind of cuts, everything off that blocks, the activity coming in our general direction here. that will move out we're looking for the winds to change everything to start to buckle down, to closer to seasonality by the middle of the week. now more locally. we think some of that up marine layer will come back again tomorrow. so expect some fog working in here a little bit. but none today there's a look at the wind tracker. just give you general idea next. 48

hours are somewhat uneventful for the winds. again, the winds are really going to be picking up a little bit until we get into monday into tuesday. the breakdown today, we're well in the business of the 90's inland. it looks like by 2 o'clock and that will stay in the 90's probably until about tuesday or wednesday of next week. so summer time for you, folks inland as well. coming up a little bit again. we'll have that 4 zone forecast for you. coming >> alright gave another resident of an a tree assisted living facility has died after allegedly drinking a cleaning solution. and now there's a lawsuit kron four's. rob nesbit has been covering this story since we first learned about a death at a trail last month. and he has the latest developments and accusations. >> we know for a trio residents were allegedly ingested a cleaning solution. 3 at the san mateo facility and one atria's walnut creek location. so far, 3 of those 4 residents have died. a warning some of the injuries may be difficult to watch for some viewers kron, 4 news first learned about the death of gertrude maxwell and

constantine canoun and now peter schroder has been added to the list of a tree assisted living residents. what passed away picture showing the pain he endured for 2 weeks. he can't feel his throat. you can't do anything. and she said look at the firecracker went off. >> and his throat. so it's extremely painful. elder abuse attorney katherine stepner is representing schroder's family filing a lawsuit against a according to court documents, the 93 year-old went into the dining room of a tree, a park in san mateo on august. 26th. he thought he was drinking cranberry juice for breakfast, but his family claims an employee instead poured him a, quote, highly toxic, cleaner and disinfectant taking a large container and split it up because they didn't want to buy the smaller containers. so it ends up in something that looks like >> i mean, it's just another like like i say, really granular way save money. thrower was one of 3 residents from the san mateo facility were taken to the hospital after the first death became public. a tree assisted-living confirmed that all 3 residents

were mistakenly served. dishwashing liquid. their statement sent to kron 4 friday saying, quote, our ongoing internal investigation determined that in a tree, a parked of san mateo staff member. >> phil, the picture with dish washing liquid that has a nearly identical consistency in color to cranberry juice with the intention of dispensing the liquid into a commercial dishwashing machine. this was a violation of our policies and procedures. another staff member picked it up, mistaking it for juice and served it to 3 residents. stettner says this is no mistake given the high number of complaints made against a it's going to take these kinds of cases which are horrific. >> to try to wake up. both the public and the people who are running are state of california that there's something that's truly problem. >> atria says they are working with authorities and the department of social services to reviei and assess the incident. stettner says the family of canoun has also filed a lawsuit against a regarding his death in walnut creek. reporting in the newsroom. i'm rob nesbitt

kron. 4 news. >> san francisco police are investigating an investigating an armed carjacking in the ocean view neighborhood. they say 2 people held a victim at gunpoint and stole his car in san francisco thursday night on san jose avenue. officers later found the vehicle abandoned. they are still looking for the suspects. in the south bay, a san jose man who is serving a life sentence for the 1983 murder of a teenage girl is now being charged in a cold case murder after dna testing. 67 year-old christopher holland was arraigned this week for the 1983 rape and murder of the then 21 year-old tara police say she was last seen leaving a bar in san jose with holland. she was later found dead in her car, possibly strangled. in the east bank, grieving people who have lost family members are being faced with another challenge when to hold funeral services. the alameda county coroner's office says there's a long

backlog of autopsies and kron four's to a dune talk to the sheriff's department to found out to find out why. >> prior to the pandemic, there was an average of 5 pending autopsies that the alameda county coroner's bureau. >> and how many are pending right now? >> right now there are 31 pending autopsies and there are a 91 to seems a corner. currently waiting transport to the general service. that is a major challenge, says the spokesperson for the alameda county sheriff's coroner's bureau lieutenant ray kelly. he says at its peak, the pandemic added up to top sees to the bureau's regular caseload. >> which was in addition to the homicide rate fact during the height of covid and he says remains a factor today. this past week between oakland and or adjacent cities. there have been a number of homicides. some of those are

complex investigations. we have to try to get those cases done as quick as we can. >> he says religious burial traditions are also considerations taken into account by the corridor. we have to balance these investigations with different cultural and religious beliefs of the victims and their families. however, the number one challenge facing the coroner staffing right now are our last forensic pathologist left few weeks back. we're currently hiring a new and we have been contracting in. >> a pathologist. >> from the area. and also we've flown in some pathologist to >> keep up with back >> what ray kelly says? there is one thing that will have the greatest impact on reducing the backlog of autopsies in alameda county. but what would help us would be a reduction in homicides in the community and these surges in homicides that we've seen over the past week has made our job much more difficult

in public if you're being followed, call 9-1-1, or drive to a police department or fire station. berkeley. police are looking for a woman accused of trying to lure a 12 year-old boy into her car. this happened tuesday night near sacramento avenue and addison street. police say the boy was riding a scooter on the sidewalk when a woman stopped her car and tried to convince the boy to get inside. he refused but told officers that the woman then follow him in her car. the child managed to get away. police think the incident may be related to one that happened last month near austin way and mckinley avenue involving a 13 year-old girl. witnesses describe the woman as 30 to 40 years old about 5 foot 4 with a chubby build. she has black hair in a bun driving a newer model, white honda or toyota sedan. anyone with information is asked to call berkeley ponies. a man

indicating that marine layer coming back again a little bit. so that will have little impact on those temperatures. big picture, high pressure in the west. you know, your site and also shuts down the surface winds a little bit, even with the typical differentiation thermal gradient going on that we get from different types of heating even locally. so we're not going to have those local winds kicking up in the afternoon, but a little bit more so tomorrow and more into early next week. not much to see but small nuances here as we take a look at futurecast for taking us into the afternoon hours. looks pretty good. even along the coast, the fog is kind of us hovering out to see a little bit. then tonight, but funding. it's a muscle starts to fill up the bay a little bit moderate who looks like that will have some fog to start things off tomorrow morning. temperature check for you. got 60's over a good chunk of the east bay, 69 antioch, 58 for livermore. hodge podge of 50's and 60's north 63 san jose and 56 for san francisco's a said earlier. we'll have much in the way those winds going on. does run through about the next 48 hours afternoon.

are investigating 2 brush fires at the people's park housing construction site friday night. they are investigating the incident as arson. an unknown suspect set the 2 brush fires at 10. 45 last night in the center and northwest areas of the park. the campbell unified school district is asking the city of san jose to focus more on crosswalk safety after a car hit and killed an 8 year-old boy last friday. now it happened near castle of entry school jacob villanueva and his babysitter walking to school on a marked crosswalk when they were hit. the babysitter was badly injured. and now the school district is asking the city for money for crossing guards, increased traffic enforcement in zones near schools and maintenance of those crosswalks. they also are asking for a public safety campaign focused on safe driving near school zones. the school district has 8 schools within the city of san jose. as school districts in the area aren't the only ones concerned with traffic safety.

there are growing calls to make city streets safer for pedestrians in san jose. the city is marking nearly 50 traffic deaths for this year. kron four's justin campbell spoke with neighbors who are asking for the change. >> we're in the cambridge and neighborhood just blocks away from reed elementary school. if you look behind me, you can see here at corning drive and chambers. there are no stop signs. san jose police say there haven't been any wrecks, but according to neighbors, there was one. >> miss video caught the moment these white mercedes crashed into a blue subaru. >> loud crash. first thing in the morning one of the cars looks totaled. josh converse as he worries because there are no stop signs. another neighbor feels the same. a lot of times cars are going very fast and given that there is no stop sign, cars can come in like each other like what happened friday morning. but according to san jose police, these crash where the airbags went off, never happened to

september 16th, there was a deadly crash involving a motorcyclist and that disrupted service in downtown oakland for several hours leading to chaos out west oakland station. oakland police are investigating another deadly shooting. it happened before 02:00pm friday at 44th and international. the suspects tried to rob a brinks armored truck. 3 people were shot and one of them died at the scene. a brinks employee and a bystander were injured. this is the city's 90nd homicide of the year. >> it's been a tough weekend. a city of we obviously have seen several homicides this week. we ask the community to continue to bring forth information, help us solve these crimes. we also asked the community to continue too help get rid of the guns that continue to plague our community. >> now police haven't identified any suspects, but they are looking for a white car. the head, several people in it. an oakland police are

construction site. they are investigating the incident as arson and no known suspects at that. the 2 brush fires at 10. 45 last night in the center and northwest areas of the park. the campbell unified school district is asking the city of san jose to focus more on crosswalk safety after a car hit and killed an 8 year-old boy last friday. it happened near on elementary school j. pick jake up villanueva and it's babysitter were walking to school on a marked crosswalk when they were hit. the babysitter was badly injured and the school district is asking the city for money for crossing guards, increased traffic enforcement zones near schools and maintenance of those crosswalks. they also asking for a public safety campaign focused on safe driving near school zones. the school district has 8 schools within the city of san jose. and school districts in the area aren't the only ones concerned with traffic safety. there are growing calls to make city streets safer for pedestrians in san jose. the city is
