>> from the area's local news station. you're watching the kron. 4 morning news at 7. >> hey, good morning. and thank you so much for joining us on the kron. 4 morning news. i'm stephanie lin. >> it is saturday with a lot to get to for you this morning. but let's start by getting a look at the weather with dave spahr. good morning, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. and a quick look at what we've got going on right you can see some fog off to the foreground, but >> really that's going to be a bigger player tomorrow and for the entire bay area, extending well inland as well. we'll be showing you that coming up a little bit here. but this fog will start to clear over good chunk of the bay as we approach around noon. but getting into the afternoon,

even in some spots along the coast in southern marin, it's going to be very problematic is going to be pesky. so let's go ahead to the fog cast. here's what it looks like at my high noon. however, you'll still see some scattered clouds lingering in southern marin across the san francisco. back again for tomorrow. looks like it clears out around noon, not really left with some fog clouds for good chunk of the bay going on. so you see a lot more cloud cover for tomorrow. give you a good feel of autumn like whether your temperatures this morning there in the upper 50's over most the real estate, 57 even off the antioch. 56, san diego and 56 also for san francisco. so a lot of uniformity with temperatures and because of that strong marine layer, those temperatures direction little bit ahead of where they were from yesterday. just about all locations, but a half a dozen or fewer degrees. here's a look at what's going on today for inland areas. we're looking for clearing by late morning hours. 63 will do it by 11 by 2. we're talking 73 to coming up in a bit. we'll have a bit more for all of this and talk a bit more about this fog issue happening for tomorrow. stephanie. all

right. thanks very much, dave. >> and a major story we are following this morning out of the east bay, a woman and a young boy are recovering after being shot in pittsburgh. it happened around 9 last night near davey and civic avenues. police say the victims were in a car. the boy has non-life-threatening injuries. the woman had several gunshot wounds and was airlifted to the hospital. police are still looking for the shooter. a man accused of stalking, harassing and assaulting 14. women in san francisco is in police custody. kron four's gayle ong has more for us. >> san francisco police arrested 34 year-old bill hobbs friday the same day. a san francisco superior court judge issued an arrest warrant for a number of charges that include felony false imprisonment and battery. police say the string of suspicious incidents began in september. victims took to social media and the nextdoor app notifying the public of hobbs. his behavior. there are reports of incidents taking place in broad daylight in the

marina. so much and west portal neighborhoods. hobbs is accused of following grabbing and kissing women. police say in many cases he would inappropriately touched the victim, then immediately flee the scene. usually always traveling groups. the university of san francisco's public safety department sent out a safety bulletin with this photo of the suspect. his students last month. the students say they have been vigilant ever since. probably not going as many places off campus by myself like. >> especially when it's starting to get tired just being cautious, to be. >> investigators have linked the suspect to at least 14 incidents and believe he may be involved in cases dating back to 2021 around one 30 friday afternoon. kron 4 was notified. the suspect was reportedly sitting on this corner of and polk streets. the passerby called 9-1-1 and was told officers were on the way about an hour later as arrested hobbs just around the corner in the area. then as and northpoint street near aquatic park. in a tweet, the san francisco district attorney's office thanked police for the safe arrest.

members of the public and the victims who came forward. the da is seeking pretrial detention and police believe there could be more victims out there. anyone with information is asked to call as fpd. >> in the studio, gayle ong kron, 4 news a middle school teacher in the nation is in custody, accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an underage student. the benicia police department's web site identifies the suspect as 56 year-old kurtz and l the superintendent of the unified school district issued a statement saying in part that it realizes this information is unsettling, adding, quote, we want to assure you of our unwavering commitment to student safety and well-being. the investigation is ongoing and the district remains committed to the process. on the peninsula. the search is on for a man who robbed a store in san carlos. police say a man entered the ari i store on industrial road thursday night around closing time. the robber took some items and walked out without paying when

workers tried to confront the man. he pulled out a gun and then fled the scene. for your health. abbott announcing another baby formula recall involving certain similac 2 ounce ready to feed infant formulas and pedialyte. electrolyte solution. the problem, some of the bottle caps were apparently not ceiling completely, possibly spoiling the contents inside. important to note here, the formula was manufactured in columbus, ohio, not to the michigan plant. that was at the center of a large recall earlier this year. and says the amount of newly recalled products is less than a day's worth of the total infant formula used in the u.s. and should not affect the overall supply too much. happening today. halloween is just a few weeks away and that means the return of the half moon bay pumpkin festival on the peninsula and things are getting under way already early this morning. kron four's camila barco live there with a look at what's happening out there. >> good morning, stephanie.

we're here with cameron palmer, the president of the half moon bay, our and pumpkin festival camera is smelling. good out here. we are starting this morning with a pumpkin breakfast. tell us how this is going to go through. well, this is fun. we've got all these guys back here, cook and the pumpkin pancakes. where else can you get pumpkin pancakes, right? not that. yeah. a lot of we have a full day of activities. we have the parade at 12 noon 2,560 pound pumpkin. the biggest one ever. >> in america, it's at the parade. it will be in the parade and you can get your photo taken with it things like this is just a fun event. i would encourage people to come down. it's a great family about free to short of gas, but it's free to and you you love it. there's 4 stages of music. there's pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin pie, pumpkin mac and cheese pumpkin. everything that you can think

up. so people love it pumpkin lovers. this is the place to be today and you've been doing this for quite some time. this is the 50 year anniversary of this festival. what is so special about this event for you? >> for some reason people have really just taken to this area. it's beautiful happen. bay is a beautiful area. we have our grand marshal this year is going to be beverly ashcraft kunia. she was the founding member of our committee 50 years ago and she is going to be her grand marshal and she'll be in the parade as well. perfect. and i just want to remind people it is free to attend. however, if you want to do some of the activities. >> there is a price to pay. it may be for the pancake believe. you know what, you've got to buy the pancakes. but, you know, there's a pumpkin pie eating contest. there's a pumpkin carving contest. these things don't cost money. they're just for fun. and especially people can just sit back and watch the parade at noon. yes, absolutely. a lot of activities here, stephanie. and like i said,

>> welcome back. taking a live look outside from our walnut creek camera this morning. we can see quite a peep up. quite a number of people who are up at this hour pretty impressive because usually not much activity is happening on this camera at this time. but it's looking like a bit of a cloudy start to the day. we have dave sphar standing by in the weather center with a look at the forecast today. hey, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. we're going to see a lot more of that going forward as we get into tomorrow. but for today. >> yes, that fog you mentioned this is the shot around the immediate beijing will notice covering up a good chunk of the east bay shoreline as we speak, handing it over to future cast for cause that really tells the tale. we see much of the bay area clear out as we can get to around the noon hour and shortly there afterwards, however, some of that fog is going to remain the fog clouds along the coast, maybe even some drizzle here. and there not as much during the day when you got movement going on the atmosphere, but southern marin

and san francisco, that's going to be problematic in order to clear out boy, here comes back again tonight tomorrow. look at that coverage. spilling right across the central valley and eat. still lingering around for the immediate bay. those inland spots will get some breaks happening there by 2. but that shows you how late in the day it will be for even much of the bay to clear out left over from that. and then just a resurgence of all of this as we get into monday. this is all going to be cooling. we'll see temperatures a little cooler to start things off. warming up by the time we approach the middle of the week temperature check for you. upper 50's at this hour. a lot of uniformity with temperatures. we get that in the autumn months like that, particularly with an onshore flow morning. fog and bay scattered clouds going on, mild inland with upper 70's. so we've got a feeling of fall coming or on your way tomorrow. aggressive morning fog. we went through that variable clouds, cool conditions with temperatures in the 70 so to let you know, the weather gods are not necessarily on team army, if you will. if we had the blue

early all the way from san jose to come up to san francisco for the interview to yeah, of course this one. so tell us a bit about this into a pumpkin patch. it's happening at the plex in san jose. what can people expect when they see it? so we have 3 starting today and then the next saturday on the following saturday, the event today is actually sold out. >> but it's basically all the same fun games that you can expect that any pumpkin patch, except that >> beautiful facility, 240,000 square feet where you can play have fun and spend some good time with family and what really inspired this because this is the first time you guys are doing this. yes, it is the first time we're doing really well at the plaques. and we felt like we really want to get back to the community. and so that's kind of what started the whole concept originally and we started building on it. we saw the interest. we started selling so many tickets and we basically decided to make it bigger and bigger and biggey. so it's going to be fun. we're >> tell us about some of the other activities that are also happening indoors. so we

ask your doctor about entresto for heart failure. since more than 2000 kaiser permanente, mental health care workers went on strike a protest unfold in front of the medical group's headquarters in oakland. kaiser therapist say they want the organization to provide the same level of care for mental health providers as it does for medical service providers. negotiations this week failed again to produce an agreement. workers said in a statement the therapist who went on strike have not been paid in the past 2 months and they plan to continue until their demands are met. it was also announced that there will be a mediation in the strike. sacramento mayor darrell steinberg will serve as the mediator in a statement, kaiser permanente shared with kron 4 quote, after much back and forth. we are at a point where to move forward and find a solution. we need an independent 3rd party mediator and we are pleased the national union of health care

workers has agreed to join with us in this. we proposed and they agreed to ask mayor steinberg to mediate our contract negotiations. kron 4 will continue to follow these talks and keep you updated on the very latest on this. and kron 4 is your local election headquarters with less than a month before election day, organizations are working hard to get people to the polls, especially young voters. headcount a nonpartisan organization is registering voters, concerts and sporting events nationwide. they say they've registered 175,000 people so far, that's double their number from 4 years ago. >> our feeling like their vote doesn't matter that feeling like they have a big responsibility and a big opportunity. the 18 to 29 year-old voters really gave joe biden the white house. >> another issue expected to drive people to the polls. abortion rights says the supreme court overturned roe v wade. there's been a surge in new voter registrations. still

>> let's start off this half hour with a look at our forecast. october forecast. >> dave spahr is in the weather center with the very latest heyday. well, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. and a flavor of fall. we will get not just for this weekend, but on into next week as well. we've got the fog to start things off. a bit of coastal drizzle coming for the right to and fog clouds will be slow to clear, particularly tomorrow. not today. we're going to do pretty good job well inland, at the coast and and parts of the bay will be slow going. here's a shot from downtown. looks like we're starting to get in the overcast drill here that will remain through a good chunk of the day today, although again, i think we'll see breaks back to the clears out pretty quickly. but again, leftover with some scattered clouds and all of that tomorrow. it's bit more aggressive. that's it spills into the central valley. quite a bit, however, will be left with still cloudiness a little bit, particularly around the immediate bay. it will be slow going temperatures mostly in the 50's across the region, even some upper 50's in the far east bay. the breakdown for you today at 63 turning

mostly sunny by 11 by 2 73 in the fall. like feels what we have 4 zone forecast coming up for you. we'll take a look at that extended to stephanie. thanks very much, dave. >> in the south bay fatal crashes involving pedestrians in san jose continues to be a problem. the city recorded its 53rd traffic fatality of the year and the 28th involving a pedestrian kron four's. rob nesbitt explains. >> despite p essays and repeated attempts to raise awareness about fatal crashes. the numbers continue to rise from thursday to friday morning. numerous 9-1-1, calls came into the san jose dispatch. according to officer steve aponte. a that was for traffic collisions that occurred involving pedestrians and bicyclists within the past. 24 hours, one of those being fatal. police say an elderly woman was struck and killed thursday night while walking across lanes of traffic on lundi ave outside of any marked crosswalks officer upon day says the city needs to see a change with pedestrians, not using crosswalks and drivers not

following the rules of the road were not kind of victim late. >> but if you receive a ticket on the roadway for violating the rules of the road, it's to make you change that driving behavior specifically to make sure that we prevent types of incidents that occurred as far back as officer upon taken recall, the highest number of fatal accidents in san jose involving a pedestrian occurred in 2019. >> there were 28 that year. we're now in october and the city has already reached that number for 2022. in comparison, 14 people have been struck and killed by a vehicle while walking in san francisco. according to the organization vision, 0 s ef in oakland, the city's website recorded 9 traffic fatalities involving a pedestrian from january to september of this year and fully as the chair of vision 0 in san jose. the council member says the city's numbers can to improve without better infrastructure on the streets and more police on patrol. we need to hire more officers. we have the budget for more officers but we don't have the individuals to fill those budget position. ships. >> there are currently 14

traffic enforcement officers in san jose compared to 10 years ago when the department had 50 officers on patrol. >> i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news >> a brentwood man faces charges in connection to a deadly hit and run in walnut creek. that happened back on october. 1st. that crash killed wheelie. a 44 year-old woman from milpitas who owned a business in walnut creek. police say she was hit on north carolina boulevard in civic drive about 4 blocks south of the walnut creek, bart station police arrested 29 year-old arc ramirez junior and seized his car as evidence. the suspect is in the martinez detention facility with bail set at $300,000. for your health this morning. the u.s. has extended the covid public health emergency another 90 days. the health emergency will end on january 11th of next year. if it is not extended again, the emergency declaration allows the u.s. healthcare system too. act quickly when infections surge and also helps keep millions of people

enrolled in public health insurance. and flu season is just around the corner. but new data shows many people are not really signing up to get their shots. kron four's terisa stasio has more on what experts want the public to know as we head into the colder months. >> they're not only does it kill average year 30 to 35,000 americans, but it hospitalized is cool. 102 sometimes 300,000 americans own an average year. so this is a serious infection. z infectious disease, much more serious than i think people appreciate. >> that's uc berkeley, public health doctor john swartzberg doling out the data about the flu. well, some seasons have been mild. this coming one doesn't look so rosy. >> one reason is that nobody's are very few people have had the flu in the last 2 years, which means that nobody's picked up immunity. number 2, we we felt good in the southern hemisphere. this just coming out of there winter now

and particularly bad influenza season. and we're just going into our winner in often, not always, but often what happens in the southern hemisphere pre she just what's going to happen in the northern hemisphere for the next twitter. so i think those 2 things together are disconcerting about. this could be a bad flu season. >> and that brings us to flu vaccines. data shows that some are putting off getting the flu shot and sticking just to the latest covid booster thinking it might be too much for the body to manage all at once. >> understandable concern that people have. we studied. people are getting flu shot close to, quote, covid shot at the same time. and while they may have to store arms depots to one. but if you really want to one and done which a lot of people do just going to get done. works out fine. there's no increased risk of any serious side effects. the flu vaccine is safe. for keeping

sphar. good morning, dave. well, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. and we have the fog situation back with us again today. it will be tomorrow to quite a thick marine layer that we have going on. >> in terms of the coverage area will see a lot more of that tomorrow spilling into the central valley. the thing is right above us, the air is about as warm as your living room and as dry as your freezer. so we have a big contrast. once we get the sun, i will get that mixing process. but i think in some parts of the bay will still be left with some scattered clouds even into the early afternoon. here's a look at fog cast as a shows us for the most part, it clears out by one. but the leftover cloud cover remains along the coast a little bit. and that drizzle and cloud cover again tomorrow morning. and although you see clearing happening here, one will still be left with some of that cloud cover even into the afternoon hours and even inland a little bit as well. so tomorrow that will be much better coverage. upper 50's is our temperature. look not much contrast going on in terms of locations will see a little bit warming happening inland

today, though, then we will contrast around the bay. there's the clearing process. 67 by high noon, 74 by mid-afternoon, ready for fall. we've got a good flavor, but this weekend and on into early next week morning forecast in a bit. stephanie. definitely ready for fall. thanks a lot, dave. >> a major story we're following this morning out of the east bay. a woman and a young boy are recovering after being shot in pittsburgh. it happened around 9 last night near davey and civic avenues. police say the victims were in a car. the boy has non-life-threatening injuries and the woman had several gunshot wounds and was airlifted to the hospital. police are still looking for the shooter. a man accused of stalking harassing and assaulting 14 women. san francisco is in police custody. kron four's gayle ong has more on this. >> san francisco police arrested 34 year-old bill hobbs friday the same day. a san francisco superior court judge issued an arrest warrant for a number of charges that include felony false imprisonment and battery. police say the string of

suspicious incidents began in september. victims took to social media and the nextdoor app notifying the public of hobbs. his behavior. there are reports of incidents taking place in broad daylight in the marina. so much and west portal neighborhoods. hobbs is accused of following grabbing and kissing women. police say in many cases he would inappropriately touched the victim, then immediately flee the scene. usually always traveling groups. the university of san francisco's public safety department sent out a safety bulletin with this photo of the suspect. his students last month. the students say they have been vigilant ever since. probably not going as many places off campus by myself like. >> especially when it's starting to get tired just being cautious, going to be. >> investigators have linked the suspect to at least 14 incidents and believe he may be involved in cases dating back to 2021 around one 30 friday afternoon. kron 4 was notified. the suspect was reportedly sitting on this corner of and polk streets. the passerby called 9-1-1 and

sparked at a senior living apartment building on santa clara street in oakland. investigators say it started in one of the units at the grand lake garden facility on the 5th floor. seniors living on the second floor where order to temporarily shelter in place before being evacuated. in all the fire for 65 residents. out of the building, they were transported about a mile away to a sister property called piedmont gardens. a spokesperson for the company that runs both facilities told kron 4 no residents were injured, but several people were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. on the peninsula. the search is on for a man who robbed the store in san carlos. police say a man entered the ari eyesore on industrial road thursday night around closing time. the robber took some items and walked out without paying. but employees confronted the man. he pulled out a gun and then fled the scene. for your help. abbott announcing another baby formula recall involving

san francisco state is planning on building new dorms to help resolve its housing issues. >> the state of california is giving out a total of 4 billion dollars for student housing across the state. sf state is getting 116 million dollars of that for a 6 story residence hall, which will house 750 students. the university's president says this will also help the housing problem in the city by bringing students onto campus. >> one of the issues we do have sometimes attracting but more often retaining students will come to live here for year and then maybe less. it's a competitive sport in the city to get housing. and i think it's hard enough you doing in your 20's. try doing it at 19. >> the project is expected to break ground in december.

>> friday marks 2 months since more than 2000 kaiser permanente. mental health care workers went on strike a protest unfold in front of the medical group's headquarters in oakland. kaiser therapist say they want the organization to provide the same level of care for mental health providers as it does for medical service providers. negotiations this week failed again to produce an agreement. workers said in a statement the therapist who went on strike have not been paid in the past 2 months and they plan to continue until their demands are met. it was also announced that there will be a mediation in the strike. sacramento mayor darrell steinberg will serve as that mediator. in a statement, kaiser permanente said, quote, after much back and forth, we are at a point where to move forward and find a solution. we need an independent 3rd party mediator. we are pleased that the national union of healthcare workers has agreed to join with us in this we proposed and they agreed to ask mayor steinberg to mediate our contract negotiations.

be a chance of rain next weekend. stephanie, thanks very much. dave. >> in the south bay fatal crashes involving pedestrians in san jose continues to be a problem. the city recorded its 53rd traffic fatality of the year and the 28th involving a pedestrian kron four's. rob nesbitt explains. >> despite p essays and repeated attempts to raise awareness about fatal crashes. the numbers continue to rise from thursday to friday morning. numerous 9-1-1, calls came into the san jose dispatch according to officer steve aponte. a that was for traffic collisions that occurred involving pedestrians and bicyclists within the past. 24 hours, one of those being fatal. police say an elderly woman was struck and killed thursday night while walking across lanes of traffic on lundi ave outside of any marked crosswalks. officer aponte says the city needs to see a change with pedestrians, not using crosswalks and drivers not following the rules of the road were not kind of victim blaming. >> but if you receive a ticket on the roadway for violating the rules of the road, it's to make you change that driving behavior specifically to make

young boy are recovering after being shot in pittsburgh. it happened around 9 last night near davey and civic avenues. police say the victims were in a car. the boy has non life-threatening injuries. the woman suffered from several gunshot wounds and she was airlifted to the hospital. police are still looking for the shooter. a man accused of stalking, harassing and assaulting 14 women in san francisco is in police custody. kron four's gayle ong has more. >> san francisco police arrested 34 year-old bill hobbs friday the same day. a san francisco superior court judge issued an arrest warrant for a number of charges that include felony false imprisonment and battery. police say the string of suspicious incidents began in september. victims took to social media and the nextdoor app notifying the public of hobbs. his behavior. there are reports of incidents taking place in broad daylight in the marina. so much and west portal neighborhoods. hobbs is accused of following grabbing and kissing women. police say

in many cases he would inappropriately touched the victim, then immediately flee the scene. usually always traveling groups. the university of san francisco's public safety department sent out a safety bulletin with this photo of the suspect. his students last month. the students say they have been vigilant ever since. probably not going as many places off campus by myself like. >> especially when it's starting to get tired just being cautious, going to be. >> investigators have linked the suspect to at least 14 incidents and believe he may be involved in cases dating back to 2021 around one 30 friday afternoon. kron 4 was notified. the suspect was reportedly sitting on this corner of and polk streets. the passerby called 9-1-1 and was told officers were on the way about an hour later as arrested hobbs just around the corner in the area. then as and northpoint street near aquatic park. in a tweet, the san francisco district attorney's office thanked police for the safe arrest. members of the public and the victims who came forward. the da is seeking pretrial

coalition of silicon valley and carmen brammer with the black leadership kitchen cabinet. thanks so much, ladies for being here with us this morning. thank you for having us. and so you launch this coalition, this voting campaign with several other community groups in the black, asian and indigenous community. so tell us why it's so important that this is happening now. >> yeah, i think it's really important after obviously all that we've been to the pandemic. everyone has been challenge and i think most and most disproportionately we see that both black and latina women have been disproportionately and heavily impacted by the effects of the pandemic. and so we want to make sure that at the ballot box, their voices are being heard, their experiences and their values are expressed. and so we're really excited to bring this multiracial, a multi faith coalition together around this very important effort to get out the vote come anything you'd like to so the other thing, too, is so much has been done to divide us as communities. and so we.

>> gabby had a wonderful idea of let's all come together and especially as women to really support each other and effect change and really start holding those accountable and elected positions and making them understand we're not going to be divided anymore. cause that's by not being divided, be end up being stronger and we can get policies and changes implemented to help our communities. >> have you noticed any specific challenges when it comes to getting people in communities of color to head out to the polls, to vote? >> yeah. i definitely think there's there's barriers and those challenges. i myself as a working find it challenging sometimes to prioritize voting. i think the state of california has made it very easy. the ballots dropped in your mailbox is shows up at your doorstep. all you have to do is fill it make your voice heard and turn it back in. but i definitely think it comes down to priorities and also feeling like your voice matters and your vote i agree with that, too. i think the big thing is that folks don't

understand that a vote does make a difference in this country. if we look at the elections that have happened. >> it takes just x number to shift the landscape. so it's so critical that we do so in our community. i think a lot of it is a knowledge not having that education about what is on the ballot because those things are written so complex and so not easy to understand and not hearing from elected people, candidates that are running really solid specifics of how they're going to affect change. we're just not hearing that. and so it has a tendency to turn people off. but we want folks to know that don't let that stop you because that is how they prevent us from moving forward by feeding us these messages that same old and it's so critical that we start saying we're not going to listen to that anymore. we're going to go get educated, are going to come out. be voters who really make a difference in. speaking of education campaigns and trying to get the information out. >> what type of outreach is your coalition doing to help inform voters about the fact

that hey, the midterms are coming up here are the issues that are on the ballot that you want to know about. >> yes, so we're really focusing on a community member to community member outreach campaign. we know people are hearing from voters. we know i mean, from elected officials. we know they're hearing from candidates and a different commercials and messages. but we want to really reach out community members, a community member, too, be able to inform our community of what's on the ballot, how they can get out vote any ballot help that they may need. so that's really our approach is that we are reaching out to our prospective communities. we have a very targeted list about 12,000 voters that were specifically reaching that are for latino coalition, reach out for latinas, black leadership, kitchen cabinet, reaching out to black women and asian women empowered, reach out to their folks. and so we just want to make sure that they're hearing from us as people that share their experience and share their lands and encouraging them to to get out and make their voices heard. and like last quick question here for you in our last few moments here.

>> you know, other specific issues that you're really hoping to have her and you really want voters in your groups to be aware of as we head to the this november. >> so for me, well, for a san jose has a a mayoral campaign going on so critical because whomever gets into office is going to have a new city council and we need to really know how that thing is going configured and set up so that we can take we can make sure plugged into it. so that's critical. the other thing is there are ballot measures. we also have our board of supervisors where we have some changes there that are going to happen. so the political landscape could shift. and so it's important that we be engaged in that beat understanding of that shift and how we can leverage that shipped our benefit just like every other committee has done. the other thing i was going to say how we're also educating folks and helping folks is we have a on the 22nd of october, which is next saturday. we have a together block party want voting to be

>> friday marks 2 months since more than 2000 kaiser permanente. mental health care workers went on strike protests unfold in front of the medical group's headquarters in oakland. kaiser therapist say they want the organization to provide the same level of care for mental health providers as it does for medical service providers. negotiations this week failed again to produce an agreement. workers said in a statement the therapist who went on strike have not been paid in the past 2 months and they plan to continue to strike until their demands are met. it was also announced there will be a mediation in all of this. sacramento mayor

came into the san jose dispatch. according to officer steve aponte day. that was for traffic collisions that occurred involving pedestrians and bicyclists within the past. 24 hours, one of those being fatal. police say an elderly woman was struck and killed thursday night while walking across lanes of traffic on lundi ave outside of any marked crosswalks officer upon day says the city needs to see a change with pedestrians, not using crosswalks and drivers not following the rules of the road were not kind of victim blaming. >> but if you receive a ticket on the roadway for violating the rules of the road, it's to make you change that driving behavior specifically to make sure that we prevent types of incidents that occurred as far back as officer upon taken recall, the highest number of fatal accidents in san jose involving a pedestrian occurred in 2019. >> there were 28 that year. we're now in october and the city has already reached that number for 2022. in comparison, 14 people have been struck and killed by a vehicle while walking in san francisco. according to the organization vision, 0 s ef in

oakland, the city's website recorded 9 traffic fatalities involving a pedestrian from january to september of this year and fully as the chair of vision 0 in san jose. the council member says the city's numbers can to improve without better infrastructure on the streets and more police on patrol. we need to hire more officers. we have the budget for more officers but we don't have the individuals to fill those budget position. >> there are currently 14 traffic enforcement officers in san jose compared to 10 years ago when the department had 50 officers on patrol. >> i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> a brentwood man faces charges in connection to a deadly hit nd run and walnut creek. that happened back on october. first the crash killed chunked wheelie. a 44 year-old woman from milpitas who owned a business in walnut creek police to say she was hit on north care for california boulevard and civic drive about 4 blocks south of the walnut creek, bart station, police arrested. 29 year-old are from there is junior and seized his car as evidence. the suspect is in

called andy 8 dog's tail kron four's. justine waldman takes a closer look. >> he's the star of the latest film from petaluma zone ignite animation studios. a classic hero's journey about the runt of the litter who overcomes a few obstacles to find his forever home. i think it's just a very simple story. it tells it tells the attraction jean schulz was the executive producer for the film and this also involved with canine companions, a national organization headquartered in santa rosa. that raises and trains dogs to assist those who might be facing one of nearly 70 different disabilities as a board member schultz has a pulse and the need for service dogs and wanted to try telling the story from the dog's perspective mean our dogs, a room, magnificent. you know, they are so willing to work and attached to the human. >> they work for. but this just tells it. so simply it was really fun to create the
