going on. and look, it's a first light as what we've got going intrusion of a fog to deal with today. and those temperatures are going to be modest, though, for the week ahead. remember, we're going into the winter months now. so it's going start feeling like it again. here's the east bay shoreline for you. nice color is a was like the water colors that are at work here. as far as what's going to come in from the pacific was some blocking action over much of the week ahead, a little bit of minor warming going on, but emphasis on minor here as high temperatures most of the week will stay in the 60's for highs. but we have chilly morning lows to deal with as starting today. 37 up to santa rosa. 39 foreign quite a bit of 40's off to the east bay, conquered to check in at about 39. 41 for livermore. 45 meanwhile, 4 san jose get a quick contrast to 24 hours ago remembers a little chilly yesterday morning. it is cool this morning, but not as cold with some spots above what they were this time from yesterday, although trailing in a couple of pockets here and there now for winds a little bit on shore or

variable, they will pop a little bit offshore as they have done already run. fairfield in napa and solano county. so expect a little pop of offshore winds and your high temperatures today in the 60's with lots of sunshine in a bit. a walk through with you. a dry forecast coming up. okay. surf. >> thanks, dave. in the east bay, police are searching for several gunmen who robbed a jewelry store in san pablo. several gunmen rushed into that jewelry store robbed and then fled. police say it happened yesterday afternoon at hb jewelry store in the san pablo town center on san pablo dam road near interstate 80. it's still unclear how much jewelry was stolen. no arrests have been made at this time. we will continue to follow this story for updates and in the south saratoga man says his home was broken into while he was on vacation. the burglars getting away with a heavy safe. it was all caught on home surveillance video kron four's. amanda hari has the story. >> the man that lives there says that he and his entire

family are traumatized after this incident. he says it's not about the monetary value of the items that were stolen, but about the items that no money could replace. security camera video caught the moment. at least 2 men walked up to this home and broke through the front door. >> both camera and walked out of the way. and that it tells another guy. you see another gentleman with a duffel bag in the show. it is telling him to. you know, certainly had the door kick paul course be was on vacation in maui when he got an alert. he never expected. >> it was from his alarm company about a break-in at his saratoga home. he says the biggest thing they took was his 300 pound safe full. it likely weighed 400 pounds, a drug it out you can to discredit marks on hardwood floor. there drug down the steps, course, be showed me where the safe once was the wall dented from the burglars.

street near bodily avenue. the person who was shot is expected to survive. officers arrested officers arrested the suspected shooter shortly after and that person is in custody. police say evidence indicates the shooting wasn't random and there are no public safety concerns at this time. happening tomorrow, a potential strike at all 10 uc campuses may shut down classes throughout this week just before students are taking their final exams. union leaders say nearly 48,000 university workers will go on strike at 8 o'clock monday morning. if they are unable to reach a deal, an agreement with uc officials by then the student workers are asking for better compensation, saying many workers have less than 24,000. they make less than $24,000 a year. the union says 98% of the union voted to approve the strike. uc officials say they continue to negotiate with you. the union in good faith. and called for is your election headquarters.

there's big news out of washington this morning. the democrats will keep control of the u.s. senate democratic senator catherine cortez masto won reelection to a second term representing nevada cortez masto defeats republican adam laxalt that gives the democrats at least 50 seats, meaning the party will keep control of the senate for at least the next 2 years. now, all eyes turn to the house of representatives. here is a look at the balance of power in the house. so far the associated press has called 204 races for the democrats and 211 for republicans. it takes 218 to reach a majority. so you can see republicans are much closer, but there are still nearly 2 dozen races that are still too close to call. many being right here in california last night, kron 4 spoke with north bay congressman john garamendi about where the race stands right now. not only do we are the senate with start.

>> senator kurt s not so having succeeded in nevada. and we have another shot in georgia later on in early december. but here in california, we're doing very well. i think we're going to get a bunch to seats in california that we had hope to get, but that the pundits didn't think was possible. and if we do get those, if we do get those seats, then will hold the majority. >> and now, as we wait for the results in the house, we continue to watch what's happening in georgia where there will be a runoff next month for that senate seat giving democrats an opportunity to add to their lead in the senate. and as we wait for those results, former president donald trump appears to be moving forward with an event he plans to hold on tuesday. it is expected that he will announce his plans to run for president again in 2024. last monday, the former president said he was waiting until after the midterms because he did not want to distract from the elections. coming up on the kron 4

40's across the breath of the bay. 39 checking in for concord. a look at those winds. there's a little bit of an early pot that happens offshore. most notable around solano county. it is offshore, but it doesn't last very long. so that's why we don't have any statements with that. we do have some insulation from some recent rains that we've had to give us a little bit of help on that. and afterwards, these winds die down as we get into tonight and overnight. that's again going allow those temperatures do little tumble act on us. so from the pacific, we don't see much in the way of interruption at all coming in for the week ahead. so it will be dry and that front into the weekend. it will start to break down and i'll be showing you this later on the longer range forecast models, it's going to be spraying us with cloud cover as we start to get to the latter portion of the week. unfortunately, doesn't look like any rain early on maybe later on that might develop. so it all together. mostly sunny and cool today, 60 ish 50's at the coast. so it's a winter day. lots of sunshine this week, sunny and dry, modest warming mid 60's happening in london. maybe a couple upper 60's, but that's

it. remember, it's still kind of in winter motors will get a lot of mercury movement. and then for next weekend, scattered clouds, a few showers. that question mark, that lingers into early the following week for today. again, that's mostly sunny. maybe some high cloudiness will come past 60 for san francisco. open checks in at 61. 60 for san jose. when you get a little bit more inland, we have some lower 60's in the far east bay mid 60's up to the north bay to 59 fremont with 64 san jose. next couple of days like this, that trend holds a little chillier tomorrow afternoon. now and by tuesday, returning to around 60 social, slow going partially due tomorrow morning because of that cold morning. start in a bit will be take a look at the 4 zone forecast and get into the extended for you to sarah. >> thank you, dave. the national weather service is advising people of hazardous beach conditions today due to an increased risk of sneaker waves and rip currents. it will go into effect. 10 o'clock and is forecasted to end tomorrow at 10 o'clock as

well. officials are urging everyone to stay off coastal rocks, a voice, steep beaches, keep children and pets out of the surf zones and never turn your back to the ocean. the united states coast guard rescued 7 people from their boat 5 miles off the coast near muir beach. the coast guard says they were contacted around 3.30 friday afternoon when the captain reported his 28 foot boat was filling up with water. the coast guard sent a rescue helicopter and a lifeboat arriving on scene at about just 30 minutes. they rescued all 7 people and stabilize the boat. there were no reports of injuries. san francisco police are investigating an overnight break-in happened to the dog daycare in the marina district. the incident happened around 4.40 friday morning at the grateful dog on lombard and laguna streets in this surveillance video. you can see someone walked up to the day care and gotten within moments. it's not clear how they got in so easily. the person can then be seen

as $5 and $0.36 a gallon. and prices at the pump are slowly going down in california. the average gallon of regular gas cost $5 and $0.44. and let's take a look at what you can expect to pay today if you full up philip in the bay area, according to triple a look, san francisco, san mateo sonoma county's averaging around $5.60 for a gallon of regular gust. santa clara and alameda county around $0.10 less napa marin and contra costa counties averaging around $5. and $0.45 and solano county with the lowest average at $5.35. a gallon. if you're thinking about fueling up with diesel, you can expect to pay around $6 and $0.20 $0.27 a gallon. on the peninsula. an annual holiday tradition in san mateo county continues this year. members of the redwood city police department held a stuff. the truck event kron four's philippe djegal reports the toy and book drive will benefit hundreds of low-income

there's a bit of wind going on. see the flag flapping around indicating that offshore wind i spoke of earlier. this will be long lasting. however, and the winds will subside late this afternoon into the evening hours, which is a good thing. we want the winds to be offshore too long. although the temperatures a bit on the chilly side in some pockets here, uptick in windshield areas. 37 up to santa rosa. we've got 39 going on for a bottle with 40's cover the east bay shoreline. 41 for livermore. that's a pretty good accomplishment considering the kind of in that cold air drainage thing where the more dense cold air tends to settle and maybe because of the winds and hasn't sought as pronounced. 39, meanwhile, for concord, we should note that by tomorrow morning we'll look at numbers a little cooler than that. probably. meanwhile, by comparison sake to yesterday morning were kind of battling some fog and all we're pretty close to those numbers, although a little bit more mild up towards the north bay and stormtracker 4, not much to look at upstream. it will be quiet for the balance of the week ahead, however, towards the end, it looks like at least we're going to get some cloud cover and hoping we'll be able to scrounge up a couple raindrops out of that

as well. meanwhile, keep that sunshine today. temperatures in the lower 60's well inland, although we're looking for some winds, little breezy in spots here, although subsiding for tonight, we'll take a look at longer range forecast for you, which has some chilly nights in cool days. sarah. >> thank you. dave. in the east bay, 3 people are in the hospital following 2 separate shootings in oakland. the first shooting happened on 62nd avenue just before 9.30, friday night. police say they arrived on scene and found evidence of a shooting but no victims. a short time later, they were told the 2 people went to the hospital with gunshot wounds. one of them is in critical condition. and the other is now in stable condition. the second shooting happened at the intersection of telegraph and 19th street police report that the victim in the shooting is in stable condition. both shootings are the investigations are ongoing. and the crypto world continuing to real over the bankruptcy of ftx. the massive

crypto exchange founded by the by a bay area native ftx was short about 8 billion dollars. that's after the company went through the crypto equivalent of a bank run this week. ftx had agreed to sell out to rival, but the deal fell through ceo and founder sam bankman-fried also resigned. kron four's gayle ong has more. >> people didn't expect ftx to go down like this is a bike theft. the axe is basically equivalent like a jp morgan of the crypto sector. san gorgie editor at koin telegraph has been covering the crypto world since 2012. >> just 3 years after bitcoin was born, the demise of ftx, a seemingly unimaginable collapse went from 30 billion dollars. plus to 0 in the span of really of days. the vast majority of the money invested on ftx exchange gone. the company's now former c e o 30 year-old stanford native sam bankman-fried who took to twitter saying, quote, i f cup, i should have done better

as for where everyone's money went more. she says much of it appears to have been transferred to an ftx sister company. that deposit has now looks like it went to all my research to investor traded to some high leverage, high risk trading. was it all lost i do. it looks like that right now leaving those who invested taking to twitter, some pleading with bankman-fried to give their money back. others expressing anger. one person writing, quote, i lost my life saving. thanks to you. i have never wish for a person to rot in jail more than you right now. years of savings years of working completely and done in a single week. also left in limbo, uc berkeley after reaching a 17 and-a-half million dollar deal with ftx. the university recently renamed its football stadium ftx field. high-profile investors in the company included tom brady and steph curry. as for whether or not investors might ever see their money again. that's it. the million dollar it depends on where we're going to see some on the government side. we

don't know the answer that yet. >> you know, these these these situations could actually take years before people are made somewhat all again. >> and on top of the bankruptcy, investors have plenty of other reasons to worry now because of the bankruptcy remaining found on the exchange were supposed to be locked up, but mysteriously more than a 500 million dollars was moved out of the exchange in the last 24 hours where that money is right now, nobody seems to know in the studio. gayle ong kron. 4 news. >> thank you. gayle tesla has announced a voluntary recall of more than 40,000 vehicles that could have power steering issues. the recall involves model s and model x vehicles built between 2017 2021. so motorists have reported their electric cars losing power, steering on bumpy roads or after hitting a pothole. it means the driver has to use more strength to turn the wheel, especially at lower speeds. the fix involves downloading a software update.

food prices continue to climb. according to the bureau of labor statistics, food was 0.6% more expensive in the month of october compared to september. that's a little slower pace than earlier this year. but adds to an already significant increase that we've been seeing. the biggest price increases that we've seen is in the dairy aisle throughout the year. eggs jumped a whopping 43% but or jump nearly 27%. in the north bay. sonoma county authorities are in the giving spirit on saturday, the delivered 160 turkeys to residents ahead of the holiday season. turkeys were handed out to folks from sonoma valley to the sonoma coast and from petaluma to cloverdale the sheriff's office saying, quote, be thankful for all you have and take time to reach one another with a helping hand. and happening right now, the berkeley half marathon is under way and that's where we find kron four's camila barco live in berkeley with more. camila has it started? have the runners taken off

and san francisco out there, a little hazy. nice out there. that's why we're going to check in with our meteorologist dave spahr. dave, how you doing this morning? okay. good morning, sarah. and good morning, everybody. we're also seeing those clear skies. your reference up in daughter summit. so. >> whatever precipitation they had, it's pretty much over now, although it's going to be pretty chilly as we take a look at what's going to happen the next couple of days, even for. >> this forecast highs, % keeping those numbers still low, but it is starting to enter into the winter season they can use. of course, a lot more snow coming. here's the next couple of days for you. give you an idea. upper 30's monday through wednesday on that frontier, although a lot of sunshine, cold morning lows with all of that as well. not much traffic coming off the pacific. as we mentioned earlier, that's going to be blocking the action even here for the bay area for a good 5 days or so to this will start to break down a little bit as we get further up there. upstream. as far as bringing rain with that, it doesn't look too likely until we get into the following early next week. one of the were quickly. these winds that will be this afternoon, a little bit of uptick on those winds around

solano county. it will be a little just a little spurt of offshore winds through the balance of today. after that, it should subside a little bit and we won't have much more irritation. we have a lot of a defense against that because of recent rains. and this doesn't last that long. it's also bringing in some colder air here that will settle over the next about 48 hours before theirs. a minor warm-up to midweek that rig in the traffic off the pacific. you can see word is blocked off of it. it breaks down by about thursday friday. here comes some scattered clouds. our way looks to be fairly dry into next weekend here the following week. maybe there's some hope there at least the pacific by that point starts to open up. not a lot of variety in our 4 zone forecast. so that's somewhat typical with the winter months. but we sometimes see sunshine out like this morning lows will see a lot of deviation occurring with all of that, too. so maybe complements of some of the way. the winds that was stirring things up overnight. 50's at the coast. a little chilly watch out for the sneaker waves today. 60 per burlingame. 62 foster city palo out to about 61 to the

south bay. only about 60 or so. 57 milpitas east bay shoreline, 60 ish in the same for tri valley to pleasanton livermore about 60, 60 for dublin. 62 walnut creek in danville, concord, at 62 berkeley. 59 the les, what 58 were popping at. 64 fairfield. 61 for napa in 65. meanwhile, 4 santa rosa dries the word for most of the week. as we look ahead here, temperatures still pretty much settle in the lower to middle 60's thursday. there's the change to the pacific opens up by that point. sprays us with cloud cover it all. but as far as getting any that moisture looks like we'll be holding off on that lows. watch out early in the week. they do dip down to some of those lower 30 degree levels. we may hear about some frost advisory talk a little bit early on, but we'll stay in the 30's just about all week long. sarah. >> thank you, dave. federal prosecutors have asked a judge to sentence theranos ceo elizabeth holmes to 15 years in prison. they argue she deserves a long prison term

thanks so much for joining us for the kron. 4 morning news. i'm sarah stinson. we have a lot to get to this morning, but let's start with a look at weather. we had such a great day yesterday. let's see if we have another one in store todag. dave, how you doing? >> hey, good morning, sarah. good morning, everybody. lots of blue skies to start the day today. we don't have the intrusion of much the way of fog. here is the fog trap. the golden gate bridge. notice the flag flapping with that offshore wind, dry conditions prevail. although this offshore wind won't last too long today. so there's no statements or anything associated with. we have a lot of insulation because of recent rains. now the story from the pacific, that kind of tells the tale of little bit of that. keep away game. you play back and elementary school. we everything is going up and around us. so but we don't look for big temperature pop happening here at all, which we sometimes get with this. so we'll have a dry situation for the week ahead. but temperatures will be somewhat modest and watch out those chilly overnight lows, particularly early into the week. we graduated out of the 30. so we have 40's in place here with some 50's popping up

strike at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning. if they're unable to reach an agreement with uc officials by then the student workers are asking for better compensation, saying many of these student workers they make less than $24,000 a year. the union says 90% of the union voted on this to approve the strike. and you see officials say they continue to negotiate with the union in good faith. kron 4 is your local election headquarters and there is big news out of washington this morning. the democrats will keep control of the u.s. senate democratic senator catherine cortez masto won the election to a second term representing nevada cortez masto defeats republican adam laxalt that gives the democrats at least 50 seats, meaning the party will keep control of the senate for at least the next 2 years. now, all eyes turn to the house of representatives. take a look. the balance of power in the house so far the associated press has called 204 races for democrats in 211

for republicans. it takes 218 to reach majority's. you can see republicans are much closer, but there are still nearly 2 dozen races that are still too close to call. and many of them are right here in california last night, kron 4 spoke with north bay congressman john garamendi about where the race stands now. >> not only do we are the senate with senator kurt s not so having succeeded in nevada. and we have another shot in georgia later on in early december. but here in california, we're doing very well. i think we're going to get a bunch to seats in california that we had hope to get, but that the pundits didn't think was possible. and if we do get those, if we do get those seats, then will hold the majority. >> but for now, we wait for the results in the house. we continue to watch, though, what's happening in georgia where there will be a runoff next month for that senate seat giving democrats another opportunity to add to their lead in the senate. and as we

>> welcome back to kron. 4 morning news. good morning, everybody. off to a nice blue skies. start looking at the east bay shoreline here intrusion of fog going on this morning. and yet those temperatures well going pretty well. the start off, though, a little bit on the chilly side, perhaps still, it's winter months. there. here's what we stand right now with a lot of 40's on the board. some lower 50's lining up the east bay

shoreline up to the north bay. we graduated out of the 30's. now we're in the lower 40's with 50. meanwhile, 4 napa, those wi ds. so, yeah, a little bit of an offshore wind is popping here around solano county, napa, but it dissipates very quickly. by the time we get to tonight just in time for the clear skies, relatively drier air, working all the hallmarks of the recipe we need for those temperatures to drop the radiational cooling factor going on. there and those temperatures will be a little chilly by tomorrow morning. and we're going to see some of that in the early couple of days early next week. that means monday morning and tuesday morning, a bit. here's a at stormtracker 4 showing back up to the west here. all this collection of clouds. so the stormy action is going to go up and around us. that means rain. opportunities are gone for the next couple of days or for the balance of the week towards the end of the week will start to break down a little bit. and we're looking for maybe start to grab a couple of chances of some rain, although nothing looks really that promising yet mostly sunny and cool. those are the words going on for today through a little bit of a breeze and some pockets out there. but to give the north a little bit of an offshore wind, 60 ish 50's

happening at the coast. watch the sneaker waves for until 2 at 10:00am tomorrow. meanwhile, for this week, sunny and dry, modest warming, very, very little changes day to day, actually going to see probably the bigger changes will happen for those lows. instead of being rolled out, the lower 30's will be moving up to the upper 30's to near about 40 mid 60's going on inland by midweek and then into next weekend that scattered clouds and a few showers this morning that earlier. but that high breaking down will be sprayed by cloud cover. but it doesn't look like much of a promise to scrounge up any raindrops with at 60 san francisco, mostly sunny 61. oakland, 60. meanwhile, 4 san jose and it really doesn't warm up that much inland. we're seeing better warming up in the north bay as we're touching mid 60's. 60 going on for san jose. meanwhile, the peninsula hold on to some lower 60's as well next couple of days. more of that same, although maybe a little chillier on monday is going to be the coldest day. don't forget that low is bringing down some of that colder air in place and a gradual recovery by midweek. we'll take a look at the longer range forecast a bit.

well. back this week ahead as we're going to be blocking all this action coming in from the pacific. take a look at these temperatures here. we've got the lower 50's lining up the east bay shoreline 40's inland. a little bit here. 41 santa rosa, which is graduated upwards from the 30's, but get used to chilly overnight lows the next couple of nights, particularly we've got the cold air in place now we're going to have we have a little in the way some breezy conditions today, but we're losing that tonight. and that is part of the recipe to see these temperatures. sometimes really drop. here's a look at how we stand firm comparison to 24 hours ago. were a little bit ahead of where this time from yesterday. i suspect tomorrow morning. we're in a lot of negative numbers on here. in comparison sake, not much traffic coming in from the pacific. all the clumpy white stuff way out to the west. that's going to up and around us to the northwest. so it's going to bypass us until the latter portion of this week coming up. and that will be some scattered clouds to look out for. hopefully we can squeeze out some raindrops there. 57 high noon at 3 o'clock. only. 61. again, we

have offshore winds are going to pop a little bit early this afternoon. we lose those tonight and watch out for a couple chilly overnight lows. up more in your extended forecast in just a bit. there. >> thank you, dave. in the east bay, 3 people are in the hospital following 2 separate shootings in oakland. the first shooting happened on 62nd avenue just before 9.30, friday night. police say they arrived on scene and found evidence of a shooting but no shooting victims. a short time later, they were told to people walked into a hospital with gunshot wounds. one of them is in critical condition. and the other is now in stable condition. the second shooting happened at the intersection of telegraph and 19th street police report. the victim in this shooting is in stable condition. both investigations are ongoing. the crypto world continuing to real over the bankruptcy of ftx. the massive crypto exchange founded by a bay area native ftx was short about 8 billion dollars. and that's after the company went through the crypto acquittal

80, by the way, watch over the black ice a little bit because lows up they're going to be cold, single digits going on for the next couple of days. so while we see that here on the home front, they're going to actually seeing colder temperatures, of course, going up north, not much the way precipitation up there in the hills. neither what we're getting here. so it could be kind of quiet and dry, but it's going to be cold to get things kicked off the tahoe forecast next couple of days. lots of sunshine, upper 30's pretty much in place. then a gradual warm up as we get towards the middle latter portion of the week. so the traffic, the pacific all goes up and around us. and we're looking at winds to calm. we have little spurt of offshore winds just temporarily today. after that, we lose that and that actually keeps temperatures supported a little bit overnight when you get cooling during the day, it interrupts heating. so during the day we get the winds little offshore. don't forget on the backside of the system that moved through. so it's pulling down cold, dry air. we lose the sun 04:00pm lose the winds and therefore temperatures start to plummet. so expect those 30's in the

morning lows and we might hear more about freeze and frost advisories, all that kind of business coming up for the next at least 2 days. so look out for that. as you can see, the traffic in the pacific, nothing impacts us until it breaks a little bit by thursday. some scattered clouds, not hope for a lot in the way of precipitation coming upstream here even into next weekend. perhaps the following week, things will start to crackle. but for us, 4 zone forecast comes in like this for you today, 60 for san francisco. we've got the 50's covering the coast for the most part. well, chilly out there. watch a sneaker wave 60 for burning again. 62 foster city. 61 for palo alto in the south bay, 60 ish, if you will, the east bay inland only lower 60's at that. it's kind of a very typical summertime pattern. have a lot of. universal in terms of temperatures here. we don't have a lot of variety. 62 danville and walnut creek, much the same reflect along the east bay shoreline, too, of the lay of the cool spot at 58. that's even with a bit of an offshore wind. 64. meanwhile, for fairfield. and santa rosa comes in at 65

happening even at first light. we didn't have the intrusion of that fog going on. so we lost a lot of that lower level moisture at the system moved on through, bringing in some colder, drier air into or extend. so therefore, it's going to be cold tonight with the dry air in place and we're going to lose some of those winds happening today. now looking at stormtracker 4, just what's happening from the pacific. everything's kind of going going gone up and around game. so that's the dry scenario we're going to see for much of the balance of the week ahead after that, it does break down. we do gets but spread by some cloud cover come thursday friday zone. but that appears to be fairly dry at this point. early on now, numbers for us right now. we're in the 40's and many spots still, but the 50's are starting to take hold with the daytime heating. we do see some winds start to pop a little bit up north, though. now a look at our temperature contrast were some half a dozen degrees ahead in some spots here than we were from yesterday. expect more negative numbers going on tomorrow because we won't have those winds and we'll have the dry air in the cold air in place. there they are right now. you can see the winds coming due north and that's an

offshore direction now because we have a lot of insulation from recent rains. this is imposing a problem in the winds won't last that long. we're going to die off by late this afternoon and those temperatures scratching to get into the lower 60's, even well inland today. lots of sunshine for you. and you can expect more of that to come for the week ahead. we'll have more details coming up in just a bit. sarah. >> thank you, dave. in the east bay, police are searching for several gunmen who robbed a jewelry store in san pablo. police say it happened yesterday afternoon at the hp jewelry store in the san pablo town center on san pablo dam road near interstate 80 police say several people rushed into the jewelry store, robbed it and then fled. it's still unclear how much jewelry was stolen. no arrests have been made at this time. we'll continue to follow this story for updates. in the south saratoga man says his home was broken into while he was on vacation. the burglars getting away with a heavy safe and it was all caught on home surveillance video kron four's amanda hari has the story.

injured one person. it happened around one 20 saturday afternoon on school street near bodily avenue. the person who was shot is expected to survive. officers arrested the suspected shooter shortly after and that person is in custody right now. police say evidence indicates the shooting wasn't a random act and there is no public safety concerns at this time. happening tomorrow, a potential strike at all 10 uc campuses may shut down classes throughout the week just before students take their final exams. union leaders say nearly 48,000 university workers will go on strike at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning. if they are unable to reach an agreement with uc officials by then the student workers are asking for better compensation, saying many workers make less than $24,000 a year. the union says 98% of the union voted to approve the strike. uc officials say they continue to negotiate with the union in good faith. on the peninsula. an annual holiday

iras for secretary of state across the country must organize was actually organize elections about your slate. all of them lost except for one in indiana, which is a big red state. it doesn't really matter. but michigan, nevada, arizona, and so they all went down. >> that's trent. and right now the republicans are leading in the house of representatives. do you think democrats have a shot at this? i know counts are star of the votes are still being counted right now. >> want to get too much time at early in the morning, but this is where it stands. republicans have 211 democrats, a 200 for their 20 seats right now up for grabs. democrats leaning in republicans leading 10. so everyone doesn't methods to 11 to 14. however, when you look at that, there are 3 seats in california that could still flip. to the dems. 3 republican where the republicans are ahead. what is the 13th when 22nd was what is the 41st? there are. they are a lot of ballots outstanding.

all these districts are kind swing. the later ballots tend to be more heavily democratic. i would not be surprised to see if those 3 come in if they do. the democrats are to 17 and then they just need one more and that one more could come from oregon to come from arizona. it could come from new york and that's why i think it's a little premature for kevin mccarthy to be popping champagne or measuring the drapes chores office. >> hey, that math wasn't too hard. thank you for going how long do you think it will take for us to know who will take control of the house? >> you know, again, it all sort of depends on where the brakes are. if any one of those other cities in other states like colorado or new york or arizona flips our way. then it comes down to the 3 seats i'm talking about in california and that could shake a couple weeks. and these are all mail-in ballots. it takes a while too process them to verify the signatures

to end their, you know, their people, every move and then you dip and how close is there could be a recount. so we could be talking a week to 2 weeks. remember a couple election ago it took quite some time for some of those numbers are coming in again, this assumes that the democrats hold their lead to the tense 10 seats that they are currently leading in. but from what was a very slim to none path to victory. it's now a reasonable path to victory for for the democrats and not nothing anyone can dismiss and why you haven't heard much from kevin mccarthy lately and a lot more from my mentor, nancy pelosi. >> and goinghback to the big news about the senate. how do you think this will impact the runoff election in georgia? >> we know there's there's a lot of different theories here, but i think that one theory that that i think does hold the case. there are a lot of people when you look at the differential between the

governor's race brian kemp inertia walker. there's about 3 to 4 or five-point difference. work and had more or more points more, get more numbers, then walk. and i think that that reflected and then the east about walker, i think there are a lot of hold your nose roads for him in the in the republican party. i think there are a lot of people who felt that for the things that they care about. they wanted to see whether it was whether it was abortion, whether was whatever they they feel that at least having that, that control of the senate meant to them. now that the democrats have control the impetus that fervor that thing that gets people to the polls. it's no longer their fortune republicans. i actually think that we're not as long as he doesn't take it. i think its foot off the gas. it keeps going as hard as he can. it's going to pull off a 2, 3, maybe even 4 point victory on december 6. the motivation, the fire just isn't there for the republican base and more

afternoon when the captain reported his 28 foot boat filling up with water. the coast guard sent a rescue helicopter and lifeboat arriving to the scene within about 30 minutes. they rescued all 7 people and stabled the boat, stabilize the boat and they were able to make sure that nobody got injured. tesla has announced a voluntary recall of more than 40,000 vehicles that could have a power steering issue. the recall involves model s and model x vehicles built between 2017 2021. some motorists have reported their electric cars losing power, steering on bumpy roads or after hitting a pothole. it means that the driver has used more strength to turn the wheel, especially at lower speeds. the fix involves downloading a software update. and happening right now, the berkeley half marathon is under way and that's where we find kron four's camila barco live in berkeley. it has been loud, energetic and it looks like people are starting to come in

and for your money this morning, heating costs are on the rise again. home heating oil prices rose in october, making things worse for those facing higher bills already from inflation. the labor department says fuel oil increased 20% in october after dropping almost 3% in september. government data also says the country has just 25 days of diesel supply left. according to aaa, the national average for diesel fuel today as $5 and $0.36 a gallon. prices at the pump are slowly going down in california, the average gallon of regular gas cost $5.44. let's take a look at what you can expect to pay at the pumps in the bay area. according to triple-a san francisco, san mateo and sonoma counties averaging around $5.60 for a gallon of regular gas. santa clara, alameda county around $0.10 less napa and marin and contra costa counties averaging
