so we're going to see it's very active. and models are showing for the most the day we're going to be active. but the heaviest window right now is going to be between 10:00am all the way till 3. and as we take a look at future cast, you can see that as we fast for the clock to one 15, we're going to start to a lot of rain starting to pick up right there. just west oakland as we fast forward to 2.45, you can see the storms are going jordy of them are going make their way to the sacramento area. by 4.15. you can see fmom the south another system headed our way and by 6.30, places just south of san francisco are going to see some heavy rain. so a lot to talk about as we head into the weekend. we're going to busy today and tomorrow and take a look at your screen. you can see we're setting up the tone right now as we speak. those wet slippery roadways and temperatures to the north. we have a freeze warning thankfully warming up slowly. santa rose at 38, san francisco. 46, half moon bay. 46 in down to the south. san jose. we're at 45, but we also have snow in the mountains of break that all down for you. coming up next. thanks so

much, brittany, for that. >> now for those looking to get out of the cold, a warming center is open for you this morning in the north bay, the marine health and wellness campus on kernan boulevard in sandra fell is open now until 10 in the morning. in san francisco, the department of homelessness and supportive housing has opened 3 warming centers through sunday. >> you can check out the locations on your screen. >> those centers do open at 4 in the afternoon. happening right now, several lanes of 8.80, are closed in oakland after a deadly crash involving a big rig. this is an image from a caltrans camera taken just a few moments ago. >> the accident we know first happened around one this morning. according to the chp, the big rig was a u.s. postal service truck currently just one lane open on the roadways. there. we will keep you updated as we learn more, including the latest on

traffic conditions and impacts to this area. >> now insula, a sam trends bus crashed into several parked cars at the sarah mancini shopping center in daly city. fire officials say multiple people were rushed to the hospital. one in critical condition. kron four's dan thorn has the latest for us. >> cars crashed into and shopping carts sent flying and lot next to the target store. one of the shopping carts stuck underneath the front end of the bus. the immediate area cordoned off as deputies worked the scene we've learned this bus driver is telling investigators that they careened off of their route because of brake failure. the bus then crashed into 16

vehicles and of those 4 people that were hurt. one of them is in critical condition. >> a scary day for shoppers outside of this target store in daly city, stunned shoppers hoping those who were injured are okay to see all these police in and >> people taking pictures. it's just yeah, it's crazy. i've never seen anything like that. that's no mean it's all blocked off all in the air. and, you know, get sam trans says they're working with the sheriff's office. has their hearts go out to those who were just hope and pray for the families. and feel so lucky the most part of >> could have could have been any of us really. it's not clear if speed was a factor before the brakes apparently went out. it's also unclear if any of the injured were on board. the sam trans bus. >> deputies are expected to do a thorough inspection for any faulty equipment reporting in daly city, dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> happening now, the call california department of

corrections and rehabilitation is looking for this missing inmate from solano county. get a go d look at your screen here. >> they say 22 year-old roland made to disappear from the delta conservation camp on thursday. he was serving up to 8 years for stocking discharging a firearm and preventing a witness from testifying. the department says they searched the camps building and grounds and have not found yet. and police are searching for the person involved in a fatal shooting in newark. this happened yesterday afternoon around 2.20, on the 7600 block of sunset avenue. police say they found a man with a gunshot wound who died at the scene. police say they believe this was not a random shooting. no arrests have been made yet. now to the east bay friday marks 6 years since the deadliest fire in oakland's history on december. second, 2016, 36 people attending an event at the ghost ship warehouse lost their lives.

the fire raised concerns on how the city conducts its fire inipections and just how many properties have been improperly converted into housing. our dan kerman reports on the challenges that continue to this day. >> this is what it looked like in 2016 when fire raced through this oakland warehouse killing. 36 partygoers. 6 years later, the abandoned go ship still stands as a grim reminder of what can happen when fire breaks out in an artists collective that's been converted into housing. i would say some of it is still >> occurring, but not at the level that it was before. >> city councilmember noel gallo represents the fruitvale district where the ghost ship warehouse stands. well, there have been improvements. he says overcrowded and illegal housing has been exacerbated by covid and the economy. right now. the challenge is there's a great deal housing needs emergency for housing.

>> and people are to do many creative things to have a place to live with city hall funding. the fire department prevention bureau triple the number of fire inspectors since the go. ship fire and gallo credits that increase with a reduction in illegal and unsafe housing. >> but problems remain. a recent audit found 6 of 15 civilian fire inspectors and 3 of 4 of their supervisors did not meet minimum certification requirements. no surprise that. >> you know, we are not training or providing making sure that the inspector hasn't credentials to. this is your home. as for the future of this property, this been talk of both affordable housing and a memorial. but so far nothing has happened. there are interested parties on the property. >> to tear down a building housing. one, of course, is the unity council. this building affordable housing in the neighborhood. >> they're interested in the

it's comeback season. welcome back in the east bay contra costa county's district attorney says she will not file a murder charge in the killing of a gas station clerk. >> that incident happened at a chevron station in antioch back on saturday, november. the 26, the suspect, ronald jackson. the 3rd was initially booked on suspicion of armed robbery and homicide in connection to the killing of james williams. the da says jackson and another man robbed the gas station and were running away when james willian the shut. the chevron clerk chased and shot at them. jackson was hit in the leg and returned fire, killing williams, the da's office says jackson's action is considered self-defense. >> victim cannot use deadly force to pursue another in order to retrieve property that has been taken from them.

continues to fall across the bay area. we can see it lighting up radar there. i'm really just kind of filling that scream with green. let's check in with brittany begley. now. she's in the weather center tracking it all for us. good morning to you, brittany. yeah, good morning. we desperately need the rain, but it's going to be a tricky day on the roadways. let's make sure you're prepared if you're headed out right now are just for the day of the week. and so a lot to talk about. so what we're watching in the north is a freeze warning until 09:00am. and we are so concerned with black eyes. however, those temperatures are slowly starting to rise. so that's a good thing. black eyes. what you're looking for is that sheen on the roadway. take a look at the rain, the heaviest. i think it's going to be between 10:00am to 03:00pm. we certainly are going to have rain throughout the day today and tomorrow. more rain on our way. but i think that's going to the heaviest window. and then a winter storm warning until monday, 04:00am in the mountains. we can see it in additional 3 feet above 4,000 feet. so very active weather day. some places in the mountains already received 40 inches of snow. futurecast showing you at one 30, we're slowly going start to pick up.

you can see those showers coming down from the south as we fast forward to 3 o'clock right above oakland. best wedding to 3.45. we're going to see in sacramento and then we're going to start to see it in the mountains. so taking a look at those totals, we could see a potential of a half an inch of rain. these models are a little aggressive, but it kind of sets up a tunnel. what to anticipate as you head out today, even in places like oakland, this is a big deal for us. we don't get a lot of rain as you now not to mention are we dealing with rain, but we're also dealing with foggy conditions at 3.15. you can see as places like hayward mountain view, san jose and even san francisco are going s% to have those foggy conditions. so i was like, all right, let me see what we're working with. you can see it right here. what slippery roadways. and that means that oil, that grime, that grid can make the roadways very slippery today. i told you we were concerned with that freeze warning to the north. temperatures are slowly rising, which is good in terms of black eyes, but it's still chilly. those highs today to 67 half moon bay. 58 down to the south san jose. 67. but really it's going to those

opinion that it was time to also reconsider same marriage. >> couples like us became very nervous. what a great day. the couple were relieved when the u.s. senate voted. 61 to 36 to pass the respect for marriage act, protecting marriage equality at a federal level. 7 years after the supreme court upheld the right to same marriage. we thought it was really worth celebrating to know that our marriage was going to be protected and so many other marriages like ours throughout this country. the couple asked senator alex padilla to officiate their ceremony at city hall. i the newly elected senator agreed without hesitation and says he's committed to continuing the fight to ensure equality under the law. >> the best protection that we could offer is the power of federal law to protect a marriage especially in states like california have been on the forefront after the ceremony weighing chávez and senator padilla. we're joined by other lawmakers on the steps of city hall, including mayor london breed. >> he she they any person. in

talking about what you want to do and then you get here. now it's time to actually take action to do things. and so i'm excited, ready to get to work, ready to work for the 63rd assembly district. but notably also as the first ever american muslim to serve in the legislature doesn't matter who you are, where you come from, you can succeed. the american dream is alive and well. a sentiment shared by his soon-to-be gop colleague assembly member elect kate sanchez. i'm very excited for opportunity. a working mother, small business owner and proud latina from rancho santa margarita sanchez will be one of at least 49 women monday sworn in at the state capitol. a figure never seen before in sacramento and very, very focused to get started with my colleagues and >> really work for the people on day one. while not every race has been called. democrats are expected to tain at least a two-thirds supermajority in both the senate and assembly among the new democratic lawmakers, medical doctor, jasmine baynes of kern county. i honor the decided to vote for me. >> a person that might not have had any political

experience. but >> has experience of tackling problems in the community throughout my career. the soon-to-be assembly member will be the first ever sick american to serve in that role. sick americans have been in california for well over 100 years. it's exciting to be a trailblazer. at the other hand, you know, it's a little disappointing that it's taken over 100 years for us to have our first seat at the table. they want to make a difference and i will make people's lives better. the large is another new member, a single mother and nurse advocate. she's excited for the next 2 years when she and her colleagues plan to tackle the state's most pressing issues and real solutions to homelessness. >> housing people can afford good jobs, education, public safety cost of living, focusing around fentanyl to appropriately address the crisis that we're in. we're going to deliver and affordable california safe, california, and we're going to get to work. we're excited. and the legislature will also see a record of at least 10 lgbtq+ members. lawmakers are set to be sworn in.

>> all right. now to bay area basketball, the golden state warriors at home taking on the chicago bulls. the game got off to a good start for the warriors. they had a 11 point lead at halftime in the 4th quarter. the bulls try to make a comeback, but it was too little too late. jordan poole lead the warriors in scoring with 30 points. klay thompson added 26. the warriors win by a final of one 19 to one 11 golden state plays again tonight against the houston rockets. take tipoff for that game is set for 5.30, at chase center. and in bay area

football. the forty-niners getting ready for one of their biggest games of the year. they take on the miami dolphins tomorrow afternoon at levi stadium. they are dealing with some injuries ahead of the game. both deebo samuel and trent williams are listed as questionable for tomorrow. but the good news here is christian mccaffrey is back on the practice field and is expected to play. mccaffrey was held out of practice on wednesday for precautionary reasons. >> are you feeling great feel great as in the year taishan. i was pretty just making sure checking all the boxes. make sure everything is good. but luckily, you my gosh, was able to go back feel >> alright, kickoff for tomorrow's game is set for 105, in the afternoon. all right. and rein. let's talk about the weather now that has returned to the bay area. what you need to know before you hit the roadways, that's going to come up next. and if you are looking for something fun to do this weekend, we do want to talk about that. first.

right. good morning to you. welcome back. and thanks for much for don't thanks so much for joining us here on the kron. 4 morning news. >> let's start off this half hour with a look at our forecast. you probably notice it is raining quite a bit outside, at least here in san francisco. brittany begley in the weather center now with the latest on conditions out doors. hey, brittany. yeah, rain in full force. you can see it behind me. it's going to be the theme for the next couple of days. i think the strongest we're going to see that rain. >> will be between 10:00am all the way to 3. but more than certain. you're going to see rain throughout the day. so let's talk about what you do need to know. those roadways are going to be wet and slippery in its active day. taking a look at futurecast rain is a fast for it. a little bit later on tonight. we could see rain potential for more than a half an inch in places like oakland mountain view to the north santa rosa. so just really setting up a tone. even san jose. it's going to be a busy weather day for us to get that much rain. it's kind of a big deal to the north. those santa rosa, 67 right there on the coast. we have 58 down south san jose. 67 in inland. we're

going to be in the 60's. so we're right there. at average temperatures. but take a look at your screen headed to the mountains. yeah, it is a snowy mess. thankfully do not need chains on 50's trucks are being screened right now you can see right there. it's the snow. we have that winter storm warning. that's in effect right now. above 4,000 feet, we could see an additional 4 feet of snow on top of some places that have already received 43 inches of snow. so we already have the rain right here in the bay in sacramento as well and snow to the mountains. a lot to talk about. we're going to stay connected throughout the day. stephanie. definitely sweater weather rising so much. brittany. well, cases of m-pox. you may remember this first known as monkeypox are decreasing according to the cdc. >> the federal government plans to end the public health emergency sometime next month. the cdc says cases have plummeted in recent weeks and there were just a handful of new infections happening each week. this past month. now outbreak earlier this year left nearly 30,000 people infected across the u.s.. for

your health this morning, we could be heading into a long winter flu season san francisco reporting its first flu related death on friday about a month after santa clara county reported its first flu death of the season. kron four's gayle ong tells us what doctors are recommending. >> the city can say will be closed. diners calling famed san francisco restaurant zuni cafe met with this message. >> cases our team members, we have decided to take preventive measures prioritize the health and safety of team. >> the owner not available to appear on camera but telling kron for all of their staff will be getting paid during the closure. this comes as health officials have been warning about an uptick in covid and flu cases. the first debt due to the flu reported on november. 30th in san francisco. health officials say the adult was 65 years

brittany. >> and the east bay police arrested 3 people in connection to a brazen carjacking in oakland. this happening on ransom avenue last sunday. police say a woman was getting out of her car when 3 people took her purse dragged are on the ground and stole her vehicle. 3 days later, police found the car on highland avenue when they arrested 3 suspects. police also found evidence that same group could be tied to a second carjacking. this one on foothill boulevard. and the oakland city council approved $779,000 to beef up security during the holidays. officials say that means more funding for better surveillance cameras and traffic management. the move also opens up grant funding for local store owners to improve security and lighting in the area. oakland leaders say they want people to feel safe when they're shopping this holiday season. in the south bay, santa clara county holds another gun buyback event in morgan hill. the event scheduled for december 10th at the morgan hill, outdoor sports center from 09:00am to 02:00pm. anyone

>> deputies are expected to do a thorough inspection for any faulty equipment reporting in daly city, dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> happening now, the california department of corrections and rehabilitation is looking for this missing inmate from solano county. they say 22 year-old realm disappeared from the delta conservation camp on thursday. he was serving time for up to 8 years for stocking discharging a firearm and preventing a witness from testifying. the department says they searched the campus building and grounds and have not found him yet. police are also searching for the person involved in a fatal shooting in newark. this happening yesterday afternoon around 2.20, on the 700 7600 block rather of sunset avenue. police say they found a a man suffering from a gunshot wound. that person died at the scene. police believe this was not a random shooting. no arrests have been made yet. now to the east bay friday

marks 60 years since the deadliest fire in oakland's history on december. second, 2016, 36 people attending an event at the ghost ship warehouse lost their lives. that fire raised concerns on how the city conducts its fire inspections and just how many properties have been improperly converted into housing. our dan kerman reports on the challenges that continue to this day. >> this is what it looked like in 2016 when fire raced through this oakland warehouse killing. 36 partygoers. 6 years later, the abandoned go ship still stands as a grim reminder of what can happen when fire breaks out in an artists collective that's been converted into housing. i would say some of it is still >> occurring, but not at the level that it was before. >> city councilmember noel gallo represents the fruitvale district where the ghost ship warehouse tans. well, there have been improvements. he says overcrowded and illegal housing has been exacerbated

coming up to san jose by 5.30, and by 7.45. that storm is going to move to sacramento, but we still have that snow in the corner of your screen. giving us a winter weather warning in the mountains. so in the mountains we could see above 4,000 feet, an additional 4 feet of snow. the next couple of days that heaviest is going to be saturday into sunday. and that's on top of the 43 inches. syria tow ha sierra at tahoe received and castle creek at 30 inches. so we're going to see a lot of snow in the mountains, very active the next couple of days. the top story for us really going to those current conditions. you can see right here for the most part, we're in the 40's in the 30's, which is good news because earlier we had a winter weather freezing warning to the north that has now expired in those temperatures are going to go up to 67 santa rosa right here on the coast. we're going to get the 50's and inland. we're going to be at 67, but here's where it gets tricky. we have all that rain, right? take a look at those lows tonight to the north. places like santa rosa. we're going to drop down again to 26 with that rain.

peek into your driving conditions. the heaviest is going to be from 10 to 3, but we're going to see rain all day today, all day tomorrow and again on monday. not to mention we're watching a winter storm and that's in effect until monday and so futurecast really setting up that story by 3 o'clock. we're going to see the rain in the conditions just south of us. you can see san jose and oakland as we fast forward to 4.30, we have another system coming from the south bringing us those conditions as well. so san jose and oakland, you're going to start to see more rain at 8.15. is going to be the sacramento area and you can see right that we're going to have that snow in the mountains as we fast forward. we're going to see those heavy, snowy conditions and the mountains as well. so taking a look at futurecast yeah, we could see up to the north. almost an inch and a half a little bit more than that. places like santa rosa, napa and and everyone hovering around that. and it was just a really big deal for us. taking a look at those foggy conditions as well. so in addition to the rain will be dealing with foggy conditions,

condition. four's dan thorn has the latest on this story. >> cars crashed into and shopping carts sent flying and crushed a sam trans bus responsible for hurting several people at the sarah montague's center friday morning. i have never seen anything like this before afternoon. a parking that's a lot of cars. in hope everyone's ok, the damaged cars were scattered around the lot next to the target store. one of the shopping carts stuck underneath the front end of the bus. the immediate area cordoned off as deputies worked the scene we've learned this bus driver is telling investigators that they careened off of their route because of brake failure. the bus then crashed into 16 vehicles and of those 4 people that were hurt. one of them is in critical condition. >> a scary day for shoppers outside of this target store in daly city, stunned shoppers hoping those who were injured are okay to see all these police in and

firearm and preventing a witness from testifying. the department says they searched the campus building and grounds and have not found him yet. police are searching for the person involved in a fatal shooting in newark. this happening yesterday afternoon around 2.20, on the 7600 block of sunset avenue. police say they found a man with a gunshot wound. they died at the scene police believe this was not a random shooting. no arrests have been made yet. now to the east bay friday marks 6 years since that deadly fire in oakland on december. second, back in 2m16, 36 people attending an event at the ghost ship warehouse lost their lives. that fire raising concerns on how the city conducts its fire inspections and just how many properties have been improperly converted into housing. our dan kerman reports on the challenges that continue to this day. >> this is what it looked like in 2016 when fire raced through this oakland warehouse

>> all right. in the east bay contra costa county's district attorney says she will not file a murder charge in the killing of a gas station clerk. now that incident happened at a chevron station in antioch back on saturday, november 26th, the suspects jackson, the 3rd was initially booked on suspicion of armed robbery and homicide in connection to the killing of james williams. the da says jackson and another man robbed a gas station and were running away when james williams, the chevron clerk chased and shot at them. jackson was hit in the leg and returned fire, killing williams, the da's office says jackson's action is considered self-defense. >> that the victim cannot use deadly force to pursue another in order to retrieve property that has been taken from them.

meet? >> yeah, it's so exciting because we're going to have almost 60 animals in our shelter. we're on the block with that san francisco spca, animal care and control. so they're down the street as well. but yeah, we're going to have almost 60 dogs ready for their forever home so that their home for the holidays, we're doing free we're just at the corner of 16th in alabama. and they're just going to be so many dogs to me. we're going you know, figure out the facilities during this rainy season. i'm welcome people in our doors and and sen dogs home with that. this is happening. rain or shine rain or shine. it's happening. we're sending these dogs home into their loving homes and tell us a bit, too about the benefits of adopting a senior pet. yeah, of course i could go on for hours. as you can see, they're very well behaved like to do here has obviously l ved in a home known love, knows his manners probably is pretty house trained, you know, just really, really

see the golden gate bridge. we are watching foggy conditions in the roadways are still wet and slippery. so as you head out again, remember to use your headlights, let's talk about we do need to know. so again, we're watching those cooler temperatures for you, foggy conditions and the cast for going to see fog throughout the day. so around 3.30, is going to be foggy down to the south as we fast forward to 4 o'clock. it's oakland hayward. you're going see more foggy conditions going a little bit of a break up north, but still going to be foggy down south. take a look at radar right now as we speak. we are watching again for the potential rain all day today tomorrow and on monday as you wake up, i think the strongest for us is going to be from 10 to 3. but again, it's going to consistent throughout the day. in fact, i just looked at 24 hour rain total and take a look at your screen. i mean, we're close to if this all works out correctly. santa rosa so close to an inch half an inch more than a half an inch in san francisco, half moon bay livermore. you're a little under that. but overall, you're going to see those higher numbers by monday. i think you're going to start to see one inch an inch and a half. so definitely an active

arrested the 3 suspects. police also found evidence that same group could be tied to a second carjacking. this one on foothill boulevard. and the oakland city council approved $779,000 to beef up security during the holidays. officials say that this means more funding for better surveillance cameras and traffic management. the move also opens up grant funding for local store owners to improve security and lighting. oakland leaders say they want people to feel safe while they're out shopping. in the south bay, santa clara county holds another gun buyback event. this time in morgan hill and the event is scheduled for december. the 10th at the morgan hill, outdoor sports center from 09:00am to 02:00pm. anyone surrendering a firearm will get $100 for a handgun. $200 for an assault weapon or ghost gun. the limit is 5 guns per person. the county will buy back up to $50,000 in firearms. anyone who turns in a gun at this event will not
