40, as you can see, temperature contrast. we're pretty close to yesterday, but a couple spots a little cooler than we were this time from yesterday in our winds kind of variable to calm, which, by the way, will become a part of our forecast into monday. we might even have some statements on that. but look ahead, we've got about 53 at 11 o'clock by 2. maybe some scattered clouds working in here again. it will start north and move south. warning forecast bit. daria. thank you, dave 701. and the big story this morning, the san jose police officers association employee. >> accused of attempting to import fentanyl is facing 20 years in prison. if convicted. she made her first court appearance yesterday in federal court. kron 4 dan kerman has more. >> leaving court with her attorney friday, san jose police officers association executive director joanne segovia had no comment about being charged with attempting to unlawfully importing fentanyl as part of what federal investigators say was a larger scheme to bring synthetic opioids into the

response time. they say the ambulance service is stuck at hospitals trying to drop off patients. kron four's. dan thorn has details on that. >> a local firefighters union is pushing to speed up ambulance patient offload times and hospitals. the president of the alameda county firefighters, local 55 says long wait times are creating downstream effects. we're seen the long gated wait times. >> when an ambulance arrives to the back door of the hospital before that patient care is transferred to that hospital we're seeing times of 45 60, 90 minutes union president sean burroughs says those delays are keeping an says from responding to other emergencies. >> a problem, alameda county emergency crews are facing every day. burroughs is advocating for the passage of assembly bill 40, which would make 20 minutes the statewide standard for patient care. he says resources need to be made available to make this possible. we're not in an

adversarial relationship with the doctors and the nurses and the paramedics and the hospital staff. that's that's not goal. the goal is to try to work together. the assembly member proposing the legislation is freddy rodriguez, a career first responder from southern california. he says the covid-19 pandemic worse and ambulance patient offload delays and the fallout continues. burroughs says this chronic issue needs to be addressed. this is not a new problem. there isn't just one cause and effect of this. and we recognize but having ambulance is stuck at hospitals, not able to respond is a significant part of this problem. reporting in alameda county, thorn kron. 4 news. >> 706. and this morning we're hearing from the son of a south bay woman who was killed in a hit and run crash in san jose. that crash happened sunday evening. she was walking with her daughter and dog in the crosswalk. she was killed. the dog was killed.

the daughter is recovering from her injuries. her son was away at college when this all happened and he flew home to be with family. >> most worrisome. that the condition for my dad and my sister since they were like my sister was there when it happened that night. that was well, obviously he lives to fight along with it has with him on a lot of a long time. so it's >> her full for most us want time and we appreciate him even being able to speak with us. san jose police arrested 27 year-old sylvia solorio of santa clara. she's was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run. >> this weekend is the first of 5 in which bart's regular yellow line service through does going to be delayed. the transit agency is doing some major work on the tracks there. that's why so riders can expect 30 minute delays. they're predicting now there are free buses in place

shower up there in the north. they actually is going to return tomorrow afternoon. a bit too. we'll show you the forecast models. but here in stormtracker 4 got a kind of wink to see it. but here it is kind of a cloud deck that we're talking about right about there when all of this traffic is done from the weekend, we're looking at some winds to pick up for monday. so might have some wind advisories to talk about that. 38 santa rosa, sweden of clear skies to see those temperatures fall overnight. 39 meanwhile for napa, 42 valais whoa. got those 40's in the east bakes up a little more tri valley. little cooler around 40 42 for san jose. and 47. meanwhile for san francisco today, let's call it about 56, cloudy, late, cool 60 going on for oakland. 65 san jose. sunny, with those late clouds. so for future cast for it hard to make up this. the little radar echoes what we may be getting through daytime heating, but it takes it all the way to about 4 o'clock before some cloudiness starts to drop even into the east bay. so for a lot of folks in the bay, it's almost like a mostly sunny day with the clouds late in the day and

then they traversed pretty much overnight. and by sunday start to break out at light of day. looks pretty good for sunday. and then, ok, there's some more spotty showers dropping south this sky here will drive some winds for us post. the dropping of the sea clears out and into monday. we might be seeing some wind advisory talk. meanwhile, all of this will produce some dusting of snow up in the mountains for the weekend. so variable clouds, spotty shower there. that's for the whole weekend. now, still cool with highs near about 60 there. a lot of 50's early next week. monday at sun in windy later in the tuesday, mostly sunny and cold. that by later in the week we've got some scattered clouds in warming might even see a nice little shower working there, too. and with warming and still look an isolated shower possible. there's a look at your high temperatures there. we've got the lower to middle 60's at work and some locations of big enough heating, particularly down towards the south where the 4 zone forecast for you a bit, 7.17. let's take a look at national news now.

>> this is a terrible story that we have to tell you about. at least 10 people died dozens are injured because there were tornado, several of them. they tore through the south and the midwest yesterday. homes are ripped apart. businesses, cars are all over the place. and this happened in arkansas, illinois, indiana, and more. those deadly tornadoes just really look at the damage done. there. one of the deaths was reported in the city of belvidere, illinois. that's about 70 miles north northwest of chicago. and there was a feared or roof that collapsed with the high winds and there was a concert going on at the time. there were 260 people in the theater when this happened. one was killed. about 30 others were injured. the city's police chief describes the scene after the collapse saying it was absolute chaos. and at least 3 people are reported dead in the state of arkansas to tornadoes rips through here

and there confirmed as touching down the first hit little rock yesterday afternoon. one person was killed there. a couple dozen were injured and then 2 other people died in the town of when which is about 100 miles east of little rock the governor has declared a state of emergency there 100 members of the national guard. are there to help respond. and as of last night, 90,000 customers in arkansas don't have any power and you can see why with trees down all that devastation back here in the bay area. we still cleaning up from the store. we've got trees down too, from all that rain falls rated ground. thousands of trees uprooted and toppled 2 in the 2 different storms in san francisco alone and also they're saying that actually with the trees going down, that that maybe that will help the environment. there actually is a benefit in the end members with the nonprofit friends of the urban forest say the bigger trees that came down. they actually are a

benefit because of a store carbon. the estimate more than 2000 trees were uprooted in the last month and a half. and they say the trees are especially vulnerable. dell because as i said, we all know the soil is saturated. we have years of drought and now we've gotten just weeks of rain. there's been a pledge by the city of san francisco to plant trees. but the group that we're talking about, they say this program has been chronically underfunded and the urban forest is shrinking. >> the city's urban forestry plan, which was adopted in 2017, set a goal of planting 155,000 trees to more than double the existing number of trees and san francisco streets. we were already failing to meet that goal. in fact, san enforcement shrinking meaning we were already losing more trees a year that we are planting and last and the most recent storms going to be a huge setback to reaching that ball, which is why we have friends. even forest really facing this

moment with urgency. >> that nonprofit is calling on volunteers to pitch in and help with their replanting efif you're interested, you can sign up on their website. friends of the urban forest dot org and they're going to be out the next few weeks in april, planting more trees. so there's your opportunity. in the east bay. there's still no timeline on when this pedestrian bridge in san leandro might be all fixed. it's a 60 year-old structure and it was leveled 10 days ago when one of those storms, the one that hit down, took down 2 trees, including a giant eucalyptus tree. the bridge goes over san leandro creek and it connects kerry drive in-house avenue. one neighbor says his family uses that bridge all the time. >> trees that knocked out the bridge belonged to the school district. as you can see behind me. >> and for many years, we've been asking them to not get rid of the trees but least maintain them and trim them.

>> the mayor of san leandro, juan gonzalez says the priority is to get that area cleaned up. first before they consider any solutions. he says the area needs to dry out. first things first, i guess satellite images show how the recent storms are turning california in green. here's how dry california was nearly a year ago. and that's a nasa satellite images. you can see the state looks like a desert. >> and now there's green plant life just about everywhere. you can see the snow to blanketing the sierra and even our local mountain tops. and because of all the rain and the snow, nearly two-thirds of the state, including the bay area no longer in a drought. the epa says it's going to grant california the legal authority to phase out diesel trucks. the regulation says the truck manufacturers in our state have to start producing 0 emission trucks by next year 2024. and increasing production targets to reach the 2035. benchmark as well.

07:25am. in the south bay, the city of san jose on or latino labor leader cesar chavez. >> and the strike flag that was raised. you see there that would mark what would have been his 95th birthday. cesar chavez died in 1993. and friday was also international transgender day of visibility and across the country, people rallied in support of transgender rights. that was the rally in washington, d.c., organized by a group of chance gender rights supporters to denounce what they say is an increasingly hostile environment towards transgender people. additional rallies are expected this week, including here in san francisco at city hall. san francisco police are showing their support for the trans community tweeting, quote, we proudly recognize transgender day of visibility and reaffirm our stance with the trans community. we're committed to safety with respect for all

she explained the new temporary rule. the principal put in place students can no longer gather in groups of more than 4 people in between classes or while walking on campus. with the exception to eating lunch, obviously a confined space. so the chances that somebody from one group is going to bump into somebody from the other group is pretty high. >> and depending on the groups of students that may be enough to initiate a conflict between students. the temporary policy went into place thursday. madacc says district leaders hope it will ease tension among students on campus want students when they're moving through the school to flow in the right and not cluster in these groups that can cause issues to occur. reporting in san jose, justin campbell kron. 4 news. >> a contrast county public works department is going to be working on san pablo dam road between bear creek road and the entrance to the san pablo reservoir boat launch.

emergencies. >> a problem, alameda county emergency crews are facing every day. burroughs is advocating for the passage of assembly bill 40, whicg would make 20 minutes the statewide standard for patient care. he says resources need to be made available to make this possible. we're not in an adversarial relationship with the doctors and the nurses and the paramedics and the hospital staff. that's that's not goal. and the goal is to tay to work together. the assembly member proposing the legislation is freddy rodriguez, a career first responder from southern california. he says the covid-19 pandemic worse and ambulance patient offload delays and the fallout continues. burroughs says this chronic issue needs to be addressed. this is not a new problem. there isn't just one cause and effect of this. and we recognize but having ambulance is stuck at hospitals, not able to respond is a significant part of this

>> 10 is the time. and in national news, at least 11 people are dead and dozens were injured when several tornadoes, that monster, they touched down in the south and the midwest on friday. homes were ripped apart. businesses destroyed, cars, strewn everywhere. this is all arkansas, illinois and indiana. and more look at the winds whipping the trees. and then here's the aftermath. one of the deaths in the city of belvidere, illinois. that's about 70 miles northwest of chicago. in that case. theater roof collapsed. there were high winds and it ripped the our roof off and it collapsed and there was a concert at the time. there were 260 people in that venue when this happened. one of them died. 30 people in that theater were hurt. the police chief described the scene after the collapse. he says it was absolute chaos and at least 3 people were killed
