probably work little pesky with the fog along the coast, though. here's a look at those winds want to know right now. looks like we have some offshore winds going on up there around solano county. but the game plan is this up the coast onshore and that will continue all day today through tonight tomorrow as well. and in some cases popping well through the 30's and 20's, not enough for wind advisory but a nice climate control when you particularly have a cold ocean and conditions artificially now popping well inland into the lower 80's. so we have a a thermal gradient working with everything to that just means the difference there. and with that difference drives the winds but still quite active. as you can see all the way through monday with a good stiff breeze in just about all locations, not much in terms of the weather traffic we're going to get from these frontal boundaries. some scattered clouds a little bit with this really turning sunny, you can see the high pressure building. this skews me all the way through the end of the week. and that means temperatures bumpin well through the 80's. you'll see the extended forecast. 4 zone forecast for your saturday. 66 of the co of cb san francisco

9:47 am
this is at the she is a royal ball python. incredible as she is just beautiful and 34 years old. yes, says she is actually 34 years old. we think that her birthday was around she was donated to the zoo way before i was here. she definitely is older than i that she's been an ambassador in our program for a very long time. she's actually been one of the first snakes that people have met like thousands of people. >> have gone to meet a snake for the first time with her. even got a touch of snake for the first time with her. and it's truly impressive. you're holding her with just so much >> was had? how did you get to this point? we are able to just handle a snake in this way. how do you make sure that she's comfortable on your arm like that? for her, especially. she is an ambassador animal. and so she's actually very used to working with a lot of people i so one of the things that helps me is i work with a lot of snakes. i'm able to read her body >> just feeling when her muscles tense in different ways. it's going to let me
9:48 am
know she's comfortable or uncomfortable how she's moving. what she's doing right now. we can tell she's very, very controlled. the only. creature here that's probably going to get uncomfortable. something's going to be me. she does weigh 5 pounds. so heard one hour. my you should get tired. but she's having a great time. and that's what's important. and again, just beautiful and i can i can touch way to approach a snake for her, especially if she is here on my arm will have you just use 2 fingers? nice and gentle. we're just going to touch right here. we're not going in the face because nobody likes to be touched in the things, right. but especially if you're somebody who is maybe on a trail, you'll find a snake like this out on a trail in the bay area. but if you do see one, just making sure that when you encounter them that you give them their space because again, at wendy's, a snake that is thousands of people snakes on the while. the usually very nervous around us make sense. and again, what kind of snake issue and what does she normally? she is a royal ball python. they're actually going from western africa. and in her case she eats a lot of rodents. so a lot of mice and rats and things like that, right? obviously the plan is not as healthy as she once was and
9:49 am
what are some easy, actionable steps that you recommend that people can take today to help, you know, protect the planet. and also, you know, the wildlife that live on it. actually. so for today, each saturday here in the month for earth month at the oakland zoo, we've had a different theme. the first one was what to do with waste. we talked all about composting. that's something the average person can do at home the week after that was talking all about air quality today is taking action for wildlife. and so just making sure that people recognize the animals that we have here in our own area, especially we talk about our ball python here. this is an animal that's routinely found in the pet trade. so one thing that you can actually do is if you're somebody that's ever interested in her, you see here today totally fall in love with her. she's very easy to fall in love with right. just making sure before you bring and like this into your home that you do the proper research she's like. and with love with each making sure that we should actually can't blink. so that's part of ok intense eye contact, but making sure that you do your research again, she's 34 years
9:50 am
and so if you do find out that having a ball python is something that you're prepared to take on that level of investment. you know, she does need very special that care medical care, a diet that might make some people if you do realize that all of that is something that you want to move forward with, you can always look to either adopt one from a reptile rescue or just making sure they are taking in a ball python that's actually bread under human care been taken out of wild. and i notice that she keeps sticking her tongue out. and i seem to recall that snakes they can smell with their when they when they stick their tongues out. walk us through that. so that is what she's doing. she does have a forked tongue and now that we talk about it, she meant do it again. but she does have a further and that's going to help her figure out kind of what direction the smell is coming from. but if you look very closely at her face. redirected just a little bit, she has all of these dots there on the front of her face and those are actually heat seeking pits. and so that's where she can actually figure out where all the warm bodies are. very, very fascinating. and, you know, the walk us through why it's so important
9:51 am
that we all take steps to protect our planet and the wildlife. >> especially we talk about our planet here. i think people have to forget that we are all in this that we are not separate from nature were a part of it. and we just happen to have a very, very, very big so when it comes to wildlife, just making sure that things are we doing to protect our home, not just for us, but for all the animals around it because they didn't get into this. they didn't agree to kind of all on us do something to say >> this is just making sure that everything really is fair for all of our wildlife and giving them the best shot that they can. >> all right. and how many animals total does the oakland zoo have? but you also work with that. i also met with that, narrows it down. there's probably around 30 to 40 animals and i probably work with in some shape or form some i work with more than others. you can tell we work with when they a lot. yeah. also have larger animals. >> who might not have been as comfortable in the studio setting. we have other animals that came from the illegal wildlife trade for chris adcock. a 2 yellow nape amazon
9:52 am
and one of my other darling favorites is a young red tail hawk that we also work with a lovely and i seem to recall from the last storm that there's still a pied crow that is on the loose that you're hoping to get back home as well. yes, are waiting on him to return to they're incredibly smart. and we're just hoping that he safe until we're able to get him back and we can take care of them. if people happen to see the pike row as well, which they do not do try to catch him. but there is an emergency number that the oakland zoo has so that you can make sure that his keepers are going to be there and be able to help take him home safely with people that you trust. i think a lot of people maybe don't realize that core of its which those, you know, those cars are in those ravens. they are actually incredibly smart and can recognize different people. so want to make sure he's able to see those people that he does now. all right. very good on. and just a last takeaway here for people as we celebrate earth day. last take ways. it is something that everybody can do when it comes to earth day and it might look different for all of but you can always go to our website. we talking all about different ways that you can make an impact. and so just finding
