saturday. april, the 29th. good morning to you. let's start by getting a look at the weather with dave sphar heyday. >> hey, stephanie, good morning. and good morning, everybody. well, we're starting things off. a little touch of fog working its magic around the golden gate bridge tells you that marine layer is back again. a nice cooling element. but by this afternoon, we'll see those temperatures particularly inland climb well of the business still of the 80's. we're still in that game plan. but again, golden gate bridge kind of covered up by some of this fog in that low level cloudiness. we're going to have to contend with around the immediate bay for the few hours after sunrise here before we should get some midday clearing here. don't see too much from stormtracker 4. again, it's the lower level moisture coming in that marine layer making that traditional fog. we have temperatures on the board in the upper 40's with some lower 50's antioch racing. and there are 57 got a nice 56, san jose and 49 for san francisco for quick comparison sake were trailing a little bit up there in the north bay. elsewhere. we're pretty close to the numbers of yesterday morning. back to that fog. you can see it mix

out towards the mid afternoon here. it's kind of a little stubborn there around san francisco into portions of the east bay shoreline. but by midday, that should clear up nicely. 78 by 2 o'clock as we start to see some lower 80's working in the east bay and inland already cooler than yesterday. and we're going continue that trend and a big way by tomorrow in an unsettled week coming our way as well. have more on that weather news coming up in a bit, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you for that. breaking overnight, a deadly crash at the 6, 82. 42 junction in concord near the willow pass road and taylor road exit sign. >> according to chp logs, this happened at around 4.30, this morning. a pickup truck overturned and caught on fire. somebody nearby called police to report the sound of an explosion. we'll bring you more details as we learn more throughout the morning. and a big story we're following for you today. the california national guard joint voices forces with the chp to tackle the fentanyl crisis in san francisco. kron four's rob nesbitt walks us through what's planned. i was there

last week when mayor london breed announced that chp, the california national guard will be coming to san francisco on friday. we learned a bit more about what the changes will look like after touring the tenderloin district in san francisco and seeing the open air drug market for himself. >> governor gavin newsom approved mayor london breed's request for help to stop it and will send a strong message to those who are perpetrating these crimes that are holding communities hostage. >> that we will do everything we can to work together to make sure that there is accountability. the mayor wa% joined friday by major general matt beavers with the california national guard and commissioner sean dury from california highway patrol general says there will be no boots on the ground before teen criminal analysts working behind the scenes to find a legal drug cartels trafficking in fentanyl. cartel networks both operating in the city and outside the city. >> understand those networks built a common operating picture of it and then worked

to dismantle. >> those networks when it comes to chp is role. commissioner dury would not disclose how many officers. >> but did lay out their 3 goals deter criminal activity provides specialized training to san francisco police officers as well as additional resources to disrupt illegal drug let me be clear, we're we're not coming in here to take over the higher charles going to supplement san francisco's efforts and will complement them since january. the san francisco police department has made more than 300 arrests for possession of fentanyl. but chief bill scott explain why more help is still needed from the state when we deploy. >> large amounts of officers in areas in the tenderloin anywhere else in the city of fountains to go away. while we're there now, that's not the long-term solution because sometimes that can sustainable. the city's district attorney brooke jenkins, also spoke friday about the city's partnership with chp in california. national guard criticizing the previous dha dean for not doing it sooner. this was an opportunity. >> that at least from the

vantage point of the national guard that was offered to my office about a year or 2 ago and was declined. that was not in the best interest of san francisco. those chp would not say how many of their officers will be dedicated to tackling the fentanyl crisis. commissioner dury did say that they are officers already working and living in san francisco and that they all volunteered for the job. >> in the newsroom, rob nesbitt kron, 4 news. >> the former house speaker nancy pelosi is calling on the federal government to get involved in san francisco's fentanyl crisis. she sent a letter to u.s. attorney general merrick garland requesting resources for operation overdrive. and that's a new initiative by the drug enforcement administration that identifies hotspots and drug-related violence and overdose deaths. pelosi writing, quote, it is our understanding that operation overdrive has had some level of success in florida and pennsylvania and has been implemented to a certain extent in oakland she

had to request has the support of san francisco mayor london breed at least 275 people died from drug overdoses in the u.s. every day. according to the dea. now to the east bay, oakland, police are investigating 2 shootings that injured 3 people. police say the first one happened just before 10, 30 thursday night on foothill boulevard, south of mills, college campus. investigators say they did not find anyone on scene. but later learned 2 people had taken themselves to a nearby hospital. the second shooting happened shortly after 11, 15 on midvale avenue just north of 35th street. one person was taken to a hospital. police say they took a man and woman into custody. new this morning bar is planning to update its parking fees if approved. the minimum daily fee would be $3 at all stations, the max feet, $8. this would not apply to parking at west oakland where parking now cost $10 and $0.50 a day monthly passes monthly parking passes, rather also go

south bay, santa clara county has a new resource officials hope will help get the county cleaner. >> residents can now go to a website to report illegal dumping sites. >> this community, it is a place that needs to be cleaned up. so that people continue to want to live here so that young people do take on the psychology that this is just the way it is. we're doing this work all over the doesn't matter if it's unincorporated or within the city limits. and we've been coordinating with all of the municipalities to make sure that we are addressing areas that they are concerned about that they find as priorities for us to clean up. >> the county security, 2 million dollar fund to be used towards the street cleaning project. small

>> in the north bay, the city of benicia is working on a second phase of a water bypass line. crews finished the first phase earlier this month. the repair work is necessary because of a hill slide that happened during this past winter storms. this happened on gold hill road along i 6.80, crews say the second phase allows them to increase the current flow of water in order to meet summer customer demands. and most of the 17 s the park is closed in anticipation of snow melt. the park says the closure could last until wednesday. somebody was already forced to close last month for more than 3 weeks due to heavy snowfall. let's check in now on the situation with our weather. taking a live look now from our mount tam cam where what a beautiful view that we're looking at here. just looking at clear blue skies up above.

but it looks like maybe we are above the clouds a little bit there and yes, that marine layer it shows you the division. the has separated. yeah, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. and having seen all that. >> you know, folks in san francisco, you may be tough to see sunshine going on this afternoon. sometimes that little bit doesn't clear out that fog throughout the late afternoon here. but we're going to put some sunshine into the afternoon forecast. anyway, here's half moon bay. it's the same kind of deal anywhere near water dealing with all this low level moisture. but what that shot really tells you is right above that marine layer and not too bad up, there may be some high cloudiness, but basically mostly sunny, waiting for that to clear out for the immediate bay area. with all this fog, it's kind of in place. temperature check for you. we've got the upper 40's up in the north bay right now, 60 antioch. 56. meanwhile for san jose, plenty of lower 50's cover the east bay with 49 san francisco. back to future cast for kind of underscoring we just talked about with that low level moisture. around san francisco. there looks like it's really slow to clear all

day long. so if you have those overcast skies is just because you're that little part of the base of the marine gets this too. we're just can't quite clear out along the coast there, but everybody else in the bay, you should see those skies opening up. well before noon for today and not bad for those temperatures still pretty good like yesterday, although not as warm tomorrow. same kind of deal, by the way. here it is. 11:00am and just starts to clear much better clearing job. it looks like so if you don't see the sun today, you might have a little better chance for that for against san francisco, southern marin and along the coast, winds got a spring breeze going on today. but then tomorrow, this is where it really starts popping here. no advisories or anything with that. but a good strong onshore wind. this tells you we're changing almost seasons again this way. we're kind of backtracking a little bit into late winner in that seven-day forecast will look very much like very late winner for today, late bay area, clearing going on, at least by noon or so cooler with inland

temperatures, 70's and 80's even around the bay will see an 80 here or there, but 80's well inland. then tomorrow it's variable cloudy. we showed you how the clears up by midday late. so it'll be windy late. developing with this program, too cool with 70 ish court on well inland. there's a big drop in temperatures tomorrow and with those winds. so keep that in mind sunday. lot of sun the afternoon, but a strong wind and chilly next week. boys. interesting unsettled was probably the fairest way we can phrase this. we're looking out for tuesday right now for maybe some thunder shower action. it's not necessarily quantitative. a lot of rain, but it's just going make some noise as it does this because of the low pressure is kind of close to us. we'll show you those models and a bit. 61, san francisco, 64 for oakland. 76 san jose improving sky conditions can't guarantee that will happen in san francisco like that. at least a good chunk of the bay will get it 80's for the east bay, much cooler along the east bay shoreline, oakland and a chilly 64 in mid 70's. meanwhile, up to the north bay course will also look at the 4 zone forecast a bit to stephanie. >> all right, dave, thank you.

breaking national news we're following this morning. another mass shooting, a gunman killed 5 people overnight in texas. it happened in the small city of cleveland about 45 miles northeast of houston. we know that shooting happened at a home and the search for the shooter is happening right now. we will bring you updates as we learn more. and allan, to developing news today, experts are warning of another possible bay area bank takeover by the government. this comes as the federal reserve released an audit investigating the collapse of silicon valley bank kron four's justin campbell reports. >> not much value was left in first republic bank stopped it closed friday at a record low of $3 and $0.51. its stock is down 97% for the year. on a thin elliott managing partner with optimum capital management says shareholders will most likely be left with nothing and it will be hard to find a company to buy first

republic considering they have roughly 30 billion in losses. the losses from the treasury portfolio. plus the need to pay customers. a higher yield. >> it becomes a difficult situation. elliott says the bank didn't hedge well against the backdrop of the federal reserve hiking interest rates and its customers with drawing massive deposits after the collapse of the silicon valley bank. greatest problems as of as we be was just a very were fully with erie, a lack of diversification. professor julian vogel is assistant professor of finance at san jose state university. he says in 2019, the banking laws changed previously. >> banks like silicon valley that had more than 10 billion dollars had to undergo stress tests and more requirements. but the limit was raised to 50 billion and they were not subject to as much regulation but lack of these before. without these stress tests. and mary analysys made it

harder for board of directors for management and also for the federal reserve system. >> to discover certain shortcomings and mismanagement of as we a new federal reserve released friday points to poor management. >> and lax oversight of the silicon valley bank by the fed staffers and the federal reserve supervisors did not understand the extent of the bank's vulnerabilitles. that audit admits the federal reserve must strengthen and supervision and regulation. i think they will definitely be changes. it's hard to say which reporting in san jose justin campbell kron, 4 news. >> we'll take a look at this. this butterfly sculpture is no longer at golden gate park. the unauthorized artwork was installed on a vacant podium that previously housed the padre junipero serra statue. well, san francisco public art officials believe this piece was placed in the area just last weekend. the cersei's

after feinstein announced she will not run for reelection in 2024, there have been some reason calls for feinstein to resign. she's been missing from key meetings and votes due to a battle with shingles. and the debt limit bill passed by house republicans. this we could get rid of president biden's proposal to forgive student loans. the biden administration wants to cancel up to $20,000 of student loans for some borrowers. the gop bill also lifts a pandemic pause on student loan payments. republicans say the bill is a victory for taxpayers. well, democrats, a failure of loan forgiveness would hurt the economy. president biden has said he plans to veto the bill if it passes the senate. >> and a new bill in florida could be a sign that governor ron desantis is preparing to run for president. >> that state's legislature passed the lead pass the bill friday, changing florida's resign to run law. it would allow the governor to run for president without having to resign his job as governor.

lin. >> start this half hour with a look at our forecast. dave spahr in the weather center with the very latest. dave. >> hey, good morning, stephanie. good morning, quite a bit of bay area clouds with this fog going on. we could see also along the coast, that's half moon bay. there. this should clear out for a good chunk of the bay, but it's still going to have some problem areas along the coast and the bay as well. winds got a breeze going on today. it's not as noticeable compared to what we're going to get tomorrow. let's take a late day when developing as we head into the late afternoon. and that will be a nice little climate control for us tomorrow, too. 49 chilly degrees. 48 meanwhile, for half moon bay, 60. meanwhile, for any off a lot of 50's covering the east bay with 40's up towards the north for the oakland a's. do battle against the cincinnati reds 107, game time. temps mid 60's clearing cool. nice wind checking in from the west at about 10. the breakdown today puts us well in the business of the upper 70's and even some lower 80's. well inland tomorrow, a big dive from

those kind of numbers and all in fact, next week we have what we're calling an unsettled weather pattern it doesn't look like we're going to be a lot quantitatively of rain. but there are some interesting little nuances with all of that. that will be watching into next week. we'll have more on that forecast. but your 4 zone and a bit step. all right, dave, thank you. >> investigators identified the woman shot and killed at san francisco's at a san francisco walgreens. and now a security guard at the store is facing homicide charges. kron four's haaziq madyun has the latest. >> we now the name of the victim of the deadly shooting at walgreens. next to the westfield shopping center on market street in san francisco. according to the sf medical examiner, she is 24 year-old china, brown of san francisco. sfpd investigators say the victim was shot by armed security guard thursday at around 06:30pm. i was like biden little pay but she was out before me. and as soon as

walking now, all we hear is and she dropped to the looking at her. and that was that san francisco police are investigating a theft, they say, occurred around the time of the shooting. the security guard has now been identified as 33 year-old michael are awaited the tea. >> he has been arrested and charged for the homicide. police say the shooting suspect was not a walgreens employee. the armed security guard worked for a private company. >> i contacted kingdom group protective services about the security guard shooting at walgreens. i was looking for information on the status of the guard's training and background. i was told the matter is under investigation and there will be no further comment. according to the california bureau of security and investigative services in order for a guard to be qualified to carry a gun and the guard, quote, must pass an assessment for the purposes of determining whether he or she possesses at the time of the assessment, appropriate judgment, restraint and self-control to carry a

firearm while on duty. and quote, i just feel like then shouldn't be allowed like security wise. if you're not law enforcement by police, he should have a good cause stuff like this happen. walgreens spokesperson sent kron for a statement regarding the incident reading in part, quote, we are thinking of the victim in their family during this difficult time. the safety of our patients, customers and team members is our top priority and violence of any kind will not be tolerated in our stores. >> we take this matter seriously and are cooperating with local authorities, unquote services go. police say while an arrest has been made, this remains an active investigation. has it meant kron? 4 news? >> all right. well, delay hope police arrested a man accused of selling drugs outside of a business. that suspect is also accused of having an unregistered gun. officers say that this weapon that you see on your screen fell out of the man's waistband during a scuffle with police. the man was on the corner of the 600 block of tennessee street near center street. the suspect was

booked into solano county jail. a family member says a 14 year-old boy in pleasant hill lost most of his right hand after lighting fireworks. you found at his school kron four's philippe djegal spoke with investigators. >> on april 16th a sunday afternoon surveillance video at pleasant hill. middle school sho1s a person described by police as a suspect ignite illegal fireworks in the hallway and then walk off. turns out it did not completely detonate. and the following monday was discovered by a 14 year-old boy who took it away. then let the device which exploded on a walking trail nearby, a woman who claims to be his aunt says the boy lost most of his right hand as a result. unfortunately, you know, we don't want like that. something happened like this in order to get this kind of message out. we try to get this message every year that these things are dangerous. >> especially if you don't know how it's made or what's inside of it. you know what's going to happen? you could be holding on to go off in your you know that, you know, if tenant jason club and stresses

that fireworks of all kinds are illegal in contra costa county, that's why investigators are trying to track down the suspect who left the device behind. obviously possession of this device is a crime. you can't have these types of fireworks explosive devices now? was he trying to hurt anybody from the video? it looks like he was by himself. there's nobody in the area. so until we can identify this person and see who is and speak with him to figure out exactly what was going on and what his thought process was. that's part of the investigation. victim was treated at children's hospital in oakland, in pleasant hill. philippe djegal all kron. 4 news. >> police need your help identifying a man accused of arson. you're looking at an image of the suspect right there. his car is described as a newer model, 4 door honda accord. no room with chrome trim. take a good look. there. investigators say this incident happened friday around 02:42pm. police say the man placed a device near a bank and then set that device on fire. it happened on the 7.40 block of east calaveras boulevard. fortunately the

flames were put out no damages to report. and a fire at a homeless encampment in san francisco spread to a nearby warehouse on friday night. this happened at the 700 block of bayshore boulevard near the 1, 0, 1, and 2.80, junction around 10:30pm, firefighters were able to contain the flames. there were no injuries. 50 was street encampment. residents moved to a city shelter programs and fewer than 10 residents remain on the city-owned parcel. and we're going to go ahead and move on to our next story here. 50 people living at the wood street encampment again for you in oakland have agreed to move to city shelter programs. the city started the final round of evictions at the encampment earlier this month to make way for 170 units of affordable housing. the city says they are still working with the remaining residents to transition them to various city housing programs. a california was

right now, single digits to come. that's pretty much what we're looking at. we don't see a big win pop today. it's tomorrow that it becomes very apparent and it's all over the bay. so this is very much low level moisture we're dealing with. so we have to kind of mix it out to that later level above us to get to the clear skies temperature. check for your boy variety. 48 half moon bay, 49, san francisco. but cut 60 with we see a lot of mid 50's working even there well inland in the east bay. so this fog again mixes out all over the bay. well, before noon, although it's a little stubborn along the coast, as you'll notice, there are around half moon bay and even san francisco, a little bit might be slow going. and today's clearing 73 by high noon to 3 o'clock. we're 79 with even some lower 80's. but tomorrow, everybody will be changing in a very cool way and into next week as well. i mean, that thermally. we'll have more details on this coming up in just a bit, stephanie. all right. i have my jacket. ready day. thank you. >> now to a big story we're following for you this morning. the california national guard joins forces with the chp to tackle the

fentanyl crisis in san francisco. kron four's rob nesbitt walks us through what's planned. >> i was there last week when mayor london breed announced that chp, the california national guard will be coming to san francisco on friday. we learned a bit more about what the changes will look like after touring the tenderloin district in san francisco and seeing the open air drug market for himself. governor gavin newsom approved mayor london breed's request for help to stop it and will send a strong message. >> to those who are perpetrating these crimes that are holding communities hostage, that we will do everything we can to work together to make sure that there is accountability. the mayor was joined friday by major general matt beavers with the california national guard and commissioner sean dury from california highway patrol. >> general says there will be no boots on the ground before teen criminal analysts working behind the scenes to find a legal drug cartels trafficking in fentanyl. cartel networks

both operating in the city and outside the city. >> understand those networks built a common operating picture of it and then worked to dismantle. >> those networks when it comes to chp is role. commissioner dury would not disclose how many officers. >> but did lay out their 3 goals deter criminal activity provides specialized training to san francisco police officers as well as additional resources to disrupt illegal drug let me be clear, we're we're not coming in here to take over the higher charles going to supplement san francisco's efforts and will complement them since january. the san francisco police department has made more than 300 arrests for possession of fentanyl. but chief bill scott explain why more help is still needed from the state when we deploy. >> large amounts of officers in areas in the tenderloin anywhere else in the city of fountains to go away. while we're there now, that's not the long-term solution because sometimes that can sustainable. the city's district attorney brooke jenkins, also spoke friday about the city's partnership with chp in california.

national guard criticizing the previous dha dean for not doing it sooner. this was an opportunity. >> that at least from the vantage point of the national guard that was offered to my office about a year or 2 ago and was declined. that was not in the best interest of san francisco. those chp would not say how many of their officers will be dedicated to tackling the fentanyl crisis. commissioner dury did say that they are officers already working and living in san francisco and that they all volunteered for the job. >> in the newsroom, rob nesbitt kron, 4 news. >> a former house speaker nancy pelosi is calling on the federal government to get involved in san francisco's fentanyl crisis. she sent a letter to u.s. attorney general merrick garland requesting resources for operation overdrive. that's a new initiative by the dea, the drug enforcement administration that identifies hotspots of drug related violence and overdose deaths. pelosi writing, quote, it is our understanding that operation overdrive has had

some level of success in florida and pennsylvania and has been implemented to a certain extent in oakland. she has that her request has the support of san francisco mayor london breed. at least 275 people died from drug overdoses in the u.s. every day. according to the dea. and we're following the fentanyl crisis across the nation and the bay area on kron 4 dot com. just scan the qr code right there on your screen. it will take you to that part of our website. in the east bay. oakland, police are investigating 2 shootings that injured 3 people. police say the first one happened just before 10, 30 thursday night on foothill boulevard just south of mills, college campus. investigators say they did not find anyone on scene. but later learned 2 people had rushed themselves to a nearby hospital. the second shooting happened shortly after 11, 15 on melville avenue just north of 35th street. one person was taken to a hospital and police say they took a man and woman into custody. another big

story we're following for you this morning. nurses at 2 east bay hospitals are expected to go on strike. demonstrations are planned at saint rose hospital in hayward and the job near behavioral health center in concord. you're watching a picket that happened at john muir behavioral health center earlier this year. in all, nearly 300 nurses are expected to go on strike early next week over claims the hospitals fail to meet demands for better contracts. saint rose officials say they are aware of the strike but do not intend to hire replacement workers and expect to continue normal operations by thursday. john muir officials also said they will continue to care for their patients during the strike. new this morning bar is planning to update its parking fees if approved. the minimum daily fee would be $3 at all stations. the maxx feet, $8. this would not apply to parking at west oakland where parking now costs $10 and $0.50 a day monthly parking passes. also go up to a minimum of eighty-four dollars. the bart board holds

here. and it came all the way from hayward to join with join us here in san francisco. good morning. yeah. and you also have a special friend that you brought with you tell us who this is. this is is about 10 months old. french bulldog. he was in a san jose house. oh, goodness. okay. >> and in not so great shape either. you guys. he definitely had some gis shoes and needed some significant surgeries. so he is doing much better. post-surgery recovery. he has got a fantastic personality. yes, and he looks fantastic and great. and you just give a little snort like typical french bulldog bash and what's the process been like fostering him? i know that you you prep your providing a home. in the meantime. >> he has done really well. we've for quite a few months. normally we have a foster for maybe 3 weeks for months, but he's definitely been a long-term foster and just going through his antibiotics and meds and stuff has been taking a bit longer for him. but overall, he's doing really well. well, and he's his

personality makes up for it. one and what should people know about taking about his care if they're interested in adopting him? >> he's on the other side. so he's definitely get much better. he's just a little bit more food so you have to watch what he eats a but other than that, he's definitely heading in the right direction to be a quote. >> normal dog. okay. wonderful. and if people are interested, how can they get in touch if they want to adopt in love in second chances has adoptable is there. so definitely filling up application and going forward with that. ok, very good and tell us to about love and second chances rescue, how did you guys hear about it had to get involved. so let take second. chances is a nonprofit rescue this to rescue programs as an international program where they rescue dogs from kind of the streets or puppy mills. right? and then the local domestic rescues dogs from south. there's a >> neglect. abuse stays just

man placed a device near a bank and then set that device on fire. it happened on the 7.40 block of east calaveras boulevard. fortunately the flames were put out no damages to report. fire at a homeless encampment in san francisco spread to a nearby warehouse on friday night. the fire happened at the 700 block of bayshore boulevard near the 1, 0, 1, and 2, 80 junction at around 10, 40 10:34pm. the fire was contained to the outside of the warehouse. no injuries to report. and 50 people living at the wood street encampment in oakland have excepted moving to city shelter programs. 39 residents accepted shelter at the wood street kevin program and 11 moved into the safe rv parking program. the city started the final round of evictions at the encampment earlier this month to build 170 units of affordable housing. the city says they are still engaging with the remaining wood street encampment residents too, get them into other options for

national guard will be coming to san francisco on friday. we learned a bit more about what the changes will look like after touring the tenderloin district in san francisco and seeing the open air drug market for himself. governor gavin newsom approved mayor london breed's request for help to stop it and will send a strong message. >> to those who are perpetrating these crimes that are holding communities hostage, that we will do everything we can to work together to make sure that there is accountability. the mayor was joined friday by major general matt beavers with the california national guard and commissioner sean dury from california highway patrol. >> general says there will be no boots on the ground before teen criminal analysts working behind the scenes to find a legal drug cartels trafficking in fentanyl. cartel networks both operating in the city and outside the city. >> understand those networks built a common operating picture of it and then worked to dismantle. >> those networks when it comes to chp is role. commissioner dury would not disclose how many officers.

into custody. and another big story we're following for you today. nurses at 2 east bay hospitals are expected to go on strike. demonstrations are planned at saint rose hospital in hayward and the john muir behavioral health center in concord. you're watching a picket that happened at john muir behavioral earlier this year in all, nearly 300 nurses are expected to go on strike early next week over claims the hospitals failed to meet demands for better contracts. saint most officials say they are aware of the strike but do not intend to hire replacement workers. and they do expect to have operations continue normally by thursday. john muir officials also said they will continue to care for their patients during the strike. and new this morning, bart is planning to update its parking fees if approved the minimum daily fee would be $3 at all stations them xp, $8. this would not apply to parking at west oakland where parking now cost 10, 50 a day monthly parking passes. also go up to a minimum of

identified a woman shot and killed at a san francisco walgreens. and now a security guard at the store faces homicide charges. kron four's haaziq madyun has more on that. >> we now know the name of the victim of the deadly shooting at walgreens. next to the westfield shopping center on market street in san francisco. according to the sf medical examiner, she is 24 year-old china, brown of san francisco. sfpd investigators say the victim was shot by armed security guard thursday at around 06:30pm, hours. >> like biden little pay but she was out before me. and as soon as we walking out, all we hear is and she dropped to the looking at her. and that was that but police are investigating a theft, they say, occurred around the time of the shooting. the security guard has now been identified as 33 year-old michael are awaited the tea. he has been arrested and charged for the homicide. police say the shooting suspect was not a

walgreens employee. the armed security guard worked for a private company. >> i contacted kingdom group protective services about the security guard shooting at walgreens. i was looking for information on the status of the guard's training and background. i was told the matter is under investigation and there will be no further comment. according to the california bureau of security and investigative services in order for a guard to be qualified to carry a gun and the guard, quote, must pass an assessment for the purposes of determining whether he or she possesses at the time of the assessment, appropriate judgment, restraint and self-control to carry a firearm while on duty and i just feel like gun shouldn't be allowed like security wise. if you're not law enforcement by police, he should have a good cause stuff like this happen. walgreens spokesperson sent kron for a statement regarding the incident reading in part, quote, we are thinking of the victim in their family during this difficult time. the safety of

our patients, customers and team members is our top priority and violence of any kind will not be tolerated in our stores. >> we take this matter seriously and are cooperating with local authorities, unquote services go. police say while the rest has been made, this remains an active investigation. has it meant kron 4 news? >> a family member says a 14 year-old boy in pleasant hill lost most of his right hand after lighting fireworks. he found at his school kron four's philippe djegal spoke with investigators. >> on april 16th a sunday afternoon surveillance video at pleasant hill. middle school shows a person described by police as a suspect ignite illegal fireworks in the hallway and then walk off. turns out it did not completely detonate. and the following monday was discovered by a 14 year-old boy who took it away. then let the device which exploded on a walking trail nearby, a woman who claims to be his aunt says the boy lost most of his right

you see right there on your screen fell out of the man's waistband during a scuffle with police. the man was on the corner of the 600 block of tennessee street near center street. the suspect has been booked into the solano county jail. police need your help identifying a man accused of arson. you're looking at an image now of the suspect. his car is described as a newer model 4 door honda accord maroon with chrome trim. investigators say the incident happened friday around 02:42pm. well, peta's police say the man placed a device near a bank and then set that device on fire. this happened on the 7.40 block of east calaveras boulevard. fortunately, the flames were put out no damages to report. take a look at this. a fire at homeless encampment in san francisco spread to a nearby warehouse on friday night. the fire happened at the 700 block of bayshore boulevard near the 1, 0, 1, and 2.80, junction at around 10:34pm. the flames were contained to outside of the warehouse. there were no injuries. and 50 people living

at the wood street encampment in oakland have agreed to move to city shelter programs. the city started the final round of evictions at the encampment earlier this month to make way for 170 units of affordable housing. the city says they're still working with the remaining encampment residents to transition them into city housing programs. california is one step closer to banning new diesel trucks on friday. regulators voted in favor to phase out diesel. big rigs by 2036, and require all trucks be 0 emissions by 2042, some trucking companies and lobbyists argue the new requirements can be costly as electric models can be more expensive than diesel trucks. we also heard reaction from some drivers. >> it's more of a few orange ones. there's a lot contend with the with the mileage, just say, what is 300 miles. but that game on the news. if you listen to air conditioning
