are covering a lot of news for you this morning. start by getting a look at the weather with dave. good morning, david. good morning, stephanie. good morning, we're looking at a pretty decent afternoon going on for today. >> this is actually a clear patch happening around the golden gate bridge are still having to deal with some scattered cloud cover, at least for the morning hours. >> it will be a bit on the cool side still but least a lot of sunshine to kind of dish out. nice start again. there's the golden gate bridge, not much of a way of a breeze, but that will pick up a little bit later on this afternoon with some inland calm, wind conditions pretty much prevail over the bay. you can see also well inland as well. now, again, stormtracker 4 showing some of those scattered clouds remain. some of this low level moisture here. we'll start to clear out once the atmosphere becomes a bit more animated temperature. check for 40's up to the north bay 50's along the east bay shoreline, a little cooler inland. so we see some decoupling happening at night. at least 48 for concord and also for contrast for you. yes, it is a little chilly this morning were a couple degrees behind yesterday. took up there in the north bay

getting double digits. there. the breakdown today again, noting the scattered clouds to start turning more of a mostly sunny afternoon. temperatures still somewhat somewhat muted today in the 60's and that remain the case for the next couple days next week. don't worry. we've got a spring-like forecast for you coming in next week, though, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> a developing story we're following this morning. another mass shooting in america this time 8 people are dead, including children after gunshots rang out at a mall in texas. the shooter is also dead. this happened saturday afternoon and the dallas suburb of allen. that's about 25 miles north of dallas. authorities say police shot the gunman who they believe acted alone. investigators are still looking for a motive this morning. this happening just one week after another mass shooting in texas killed 5 people in the city of cleveland. the u.s. is now averaging one mass killing per week and has it. that has been the case so far this year. texas governor greg abbott

releasing a statement extending condolences to those involved. he says he's been in contact with state and local leaders. it is offering his full support to make sure the appropriate resources are deployed. another developing story we're following another mass shooting in california this time in chico, a teenager is dead and several others injured after gunshots rang out at a party. it happened early saturday morning near chico state police say they found 6 people shot at an apartment building. a 17 year-old girl died at the hospital. 5 others were injured and are expected to be okay. the ages of the victims range from 17 to 21. police have not yet identified any suspects, but they say the shooting is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community right now. here in the bay area. one person is dead after an early morning shooting in oakland. police say they found a car that appeared to have been in a crash near the 5. i-580, keller avenue on-ramp saturday morning. officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside the car.

that person was rushed to the hospital where they later died. oakland police are investigating the shooting as a homicide. >> it's confirmed oakland unified teachers head back to the picket lines again tomorrow. according to a member of the union bargaining team. >> and this was the scene friday on day 2 of the teachers strike. the district has offered to give teachers a 22% pay raise. and a $5,000 bonus. but the 3,000 members of the teachers union say this is not just about the money. the teachers union says a tentative agreement might be reached but only at the district comes up with more offers. a state task force approved a reparations plan saturday. that could be billions of dollars for california's black residents. the nine-member committee started drafting the proposal to address ways the state may compensate and apologize for what supporters have called generations of discrimination. economists say under the current plan the state could end up owing around 800 billion dollars to black

residents among the approved recommendations, a public apology acknowledging the state's responsibility for past wrongs. the state legislature still has to agree to adopt the proposals. happening today, a newly constructed off-ramp on the bay bridge is open on your. one island, the original alignment of the ramp was closed nearly 20 years ago to accommodate work on the new eastern span of the bay bridge. the new off ramp is located on the far right lane just past the tunnel in the eastbound direction. on the lower deck of the bay bridge. officials say the new off-ramps design improve safe access by creating a separation from traffic, merging onto the bridge and allowing more space for larger vehicles. last night wasn't so magical for the warriors, right? they lost by 30 points to the la lakers in game 3 of the western conference semifinals. a sports director jason dumas, was there and brings us reaction now from the teen. >> it was a brutal saturday

night in los angeles for the golden state warriors, things appeared to be going well for them early in this game. and then they just completely melted down in the 2nd quarter. 9 turnovers in that 2nd quarter alone, the warriors lost all momentum in this game. the lakers took advantage and they ended up blowing this golden state team out by 30 points. now, obviously many reasons for the fall out. but after the game, steve kerr was really talking about those mistakes in the 2nd quarter. >> you know, we we had control the game. we're pretty good shape. and that's when we lost to. lost our poise. i think we might had for technicals in the 1st 12 turnovers at halftime. so, you know, you're there on the you're going against a great team, a great defensive in parti ular. you know, the you know, the crowd is going to be into got to be.

>> police in south san francisco held a gun buyback saturday where they collected hundreds of unwanted guns. people could turn in weapons anonymously, getting $50 for non functioning firearms. $100 for handguns, shotguns and rifles. and $200 for assault weapons and ghost guns. police say they collected 264 firearms in all, including 9 assault weapons and for ghost guns. another buyback is planned later this year in san mateo county. rescue crews save 2 surfer swept away into the pacific ocean just south of the golden gate bridge. 3 swimmers with the san francisco fire department along with a san francisco police rescue boat responded assisting the u.s. coast guard saturday. they pulled both

50's and you got that wind coming off the coast. there's the east bay shoreline for you. looks like we're taking care of that cloud cover very nicely here as we start to have the time change early we start to see the sun rise earlier and earlier. start to see a little bit of that going on this morning. contrast with yesterday because all cloudy and some rain going on. storm tracker 4, some leftover low level cloudiness here. some of that's going to start to mix out with some drier air above us, but handing it over to future cast for kind of pregnancy 8 ing this as we go forward, clearing out nicely for everybody today. so a lot of sunday sunshine. i did mentioned before about this little passage of maybe a few little isolated showers working here. it's going to be somewhat like saturday's event. if that, ok, you can see very, very modest. looks like it's grazing the north bay, and it goes away pretty quickly. but that's just the thing for the monday morning commute. turning sunday by sunday by the afternoon hours and all of that. really what we see going on that the pressure being put down on those temperatures early in the week and then they start to spring back up again. you'll see that in the seven-day forecast later.

onshore winds working in here. that's inland heating partially driven by that is you can see the numbers well in the business of the teens here now the breakdown for you. we are mostly sunny and cool. 60's. chilly at the coast, though. got 50's that work there early in the week. monday and early isolated shower, but it clears out and it looks like some scattered clouds kind of left over the early part of the week. cool temps still in the 60's. now then we start popping quickly. late late in the week here, wednesday, thursday into friday, 70's through the 80's as we head on into the next weekend. so in total keep some scattered clouds in there. 60 san francisco, 63 oakland, san jose at 68. that's the best we're going to do for these numbers in the upper 60's. also to the north bay next couple of days, it's kind of more of the same as you'll notice. we've got to keep some scattered clouds going on in here. as you see the upper 60's work. but again, those numbers will be popping by wednesday through the rest of the week. get to that extended forecast coming up for you in a bit. and also checking of the 4 zone to stephanie. all right, dave, thank you.

>> well, thanks to all the recent rain, california river guides are gearing up for an optimal white water rafting season. historic winter storms dumped a record amount of snow in the sierra nevada mountains. that snow melt pushing large volumes of water into various rivers at rates not seen in years, creating some pretty perfect conditions for water sport lovers when the rafting companies and businesses are doing really well. it just brings more and more tourism into the area. el dorado counties, a huge >> county for tourism in with tahoe and and desolation wilderness and all the the country and then the rafting is just one part of that. and so it's a great when we're doing well. everyone's doing well. >> the rafting season opened in april and runs through october. well, looking for a taste of the mediterranean without having to leave the bay area. well, this morning on dine and dish vicki liviakis takes us to a place of the southern that has the charm of southern europe. but he's in the silicon valley.

the potential of recycled water. very interesting. the nws issued a do not drive warning for 90,000 vehicles made between 2002 1006. the company is warning drivers that their air bags can fail and explode in a crash. the cars are covered under the takata airbag recall that drivers may not have gotten the necessary repairs yet. bmw is asking affected owners to please park their vehicles immediately and contact their dealership for a free repair. still ahead on the kron 4 morning news, oakland police respond to multiple calls of sideshows friday. one of those incidents involving a car on fire. >> the details after this. but first, as we head to break for the weekend, there is the bay area book festival and outdoor fair and berkeley starts at 11 this morning in downtow berkeley features nearly 300 authors for both adultsnd kids as well as food vendors and a youth expo. it is free when you see things differently, and a youth expo. it is free to attend.

will be a warm up phase will get that flavor of spring coming. our waiver had a little flavor of it early, though. here's a look at the east bay shore shore line for you right now. got some blue skies working here, blue bay, so on and so forth. calm winds for right now. we'll get a little bit of an onshore breeze cooking here. once we get some inland warming to get some local winds kicked up here again, somewhatoof a common occurrence for us there. we see some scattered clouds kind of left over a little bit. this again will turn to a mostly sunny sky performance. temperature checked, not your imagination. we are little cooler this morning than yesterday. 40's up to the north bay for lower 50's line up the east bay shoreline. 48 for a concord for the ball game for today. it's a little earlier in the day versus the brewers will call it mostly sunny and cool game time 105, temps near 60 and you got that win thrown in. so it will be chilly. still at the ballpark. the breakdown today we go into kind of a mostly sunny mode by this afternoon and temperatures pretty much the 60's which are going to hold even for the inland spots. the next couple of days. but warm up as we scratch some 80's by thursday. we'll have more on that in your longer range

forecast. stefanie. >> a lot response to multiple sideshows like this on friday nights. >> hundreds of cars blocked off intersections with people causing mayhem in the streets. kron four's gayle ong has more on that shocking video. >> video from an overnight sideshow shows an suv ramming a car already engulfed in flames. with the sound of fireworks piercing the early morning air this sideshow starting in oakland around 10, 45 friday night. hundreds of people and vehicles gathering on the streets near the oakland museum. police show up and block off the crowds for several hours. earlier in the night around 09:30pm. this sideshow is spotted in crockett just south of the bridge, tearing up the roads

for about 20 minutes before taking the show on the in this case, i-80 down to oakland. oakland. police say they got many calls about overnight sideshows. still the illegal activity carried into the morning hours as opd broke up the crowds early saturday. it's not clear if any arrests were made, but you can see several cars getting towed in the video as firefighters work to put out the flames. >> and all of this comes just 3 days after a man was being at another sideshow. in oakland, mayor sheng tao responding calling what happened, outrageous and demanding accountability. reached out to her on these latest sideshow. so far we have not yet heard back. gayle ong kron, 4 news. police arrested a person in connection with a deadly stabbing in san francisco. it happened in a building on the bows avenue friday. officers say they found the m. a 64 year-old woman unresponsive with a stabound. they tried to render aid but she died from her injuries. officers

later finding a suspect identified as his dues as far in the same building. he now faces several charges including murder and illegal entry. police arrested a man in connection to the shooting april shooting death of an 18 year-old man in el serino. officers found the launch to in citrus heights near sacramento on wednesday. they say associated with the car that fled the scene near where the victims and sarah martin was found suffering from a gunshot wound. martin died later that day at the hospital. is being held at the contra costa county jail without bail. we turn now to the southern border where migrants and border officials way for title 42 restrictions to end and then moon is in washington with more. >> less than a week until title. 42 is set to expire. lawmakers are grappling with an influx of migrants at the southern border and the prospect of many, many more looking for last-minute solutions to prevent what could be another border crisis. it's the end of the

trump era health policy that allowed border agents to turn away migrants on covid-related grounds. a tool used 2.7 million times since march of 2020. now the defending the white house says they've got what they need for the influx. we're going to set up the ability for people to go in the country there. want to leave. >> to go into an american facility to determine whether they qualify refugee when they qualify for asylum. >> the administration's efforts caps this week with the top immigration official homeland security secretary alejandra america's visiting the border. >> the border is not open. it has not been open and it will not be open. subsequent to may. 11th and the smugglers who exploit vulnerable migrants are spreading miss information. they are spreading false information lies. but republicans are saying too little too late. it's about time that they're doing something because we've heard for months now, whether it was our vice president, who

is the czar to the southern border or president, administration that the border was secure. there was no issues down there. now, all of a sudden they're sending dod personnel as border agents prepare to return to old protocols here in washington. the fight continues up until the final hours after 11 senate republicans sent a letter to biden this week urging him to reverse course. >> 2 senators are now proposing a plan that would keep the core tenets of title. 42 in place for another 2 years. independent senator kirsten sinema and republican thom tillis sponsoring the bill. >> sinema says this buys the biden administration more time to come up with a better plan to secure the border. texas senator john cornyn is a co-sponsor of the bill with the expiration of title. 42 will look at worse. it will get worse. >> we know that they don't seem to have the have the the backbone to actually do the sorts of things they know they need to do in order to discourage people from coming to the border in the first place. >> well, striking members of

the writers guild of america did not protest on saturday, but that doesn't mean the walkout is ending anytime soon. there's still no talk of progress between the thousands of writers and major studios, the writers of film and television are seeking higher pay and more transparency about streaming data. the last strike by writers was 15 years ago went on for 100 days. so far, mtv has canceled their live broadcast of the movie and awards tv show and production of stranger things season 5 is postponed. take a look at this. more snow fell saturday in the sierra. this is video taken last morning at palisades tahoe. look chile. it looks out there. the cold weather creating some prime skiing and snowboarding conditions out on the mountain. you can see some people enjoying that. there. well, that very late season snow drying mixed reactions from those who live at higher elevations. reporter rowena o% shadix has details on the excitement and dangers of this mid-spring flurry.

>> take a look at this. snow in may pretty incredible. and while lots of people are coming up here to enjoy the snow, many people aren't following the basic rule. and that is to take it nice and slow on the freeway. >> snow at the 6,000 foot elevation. not unusual during snow season, but we are in the month of may. some drivers likely didn't realize how dangerous it still is to drive too fast when the snow is coming down. these 2 vehicles were damaged, but fortunately no one was hurt. one driver lost control of her suv and flipped it around, forcing it to the side of the road. while another vehicle spun out and lost its bumper, people came from all over to experience the late following of snowflakes like this man who brought his family from san jose. >> we didn't actually get a chance to come to this snow yet this season. we've been so busy with other stuff in school and things so it's actually. great for didn't get

>> after a hectic week at churchill colton aimed mage beat 15 to one odds and won the 140th. kentucky derby. that big win did conclude a disturbing and chaotic week. 2 more horses died at the racetrack just yesterday, bringing the animal death toll this past week up to 7 racehorse trainer, saffie joseph junior was also suspended indefinitely by churchill downs following the deaths of 2 of his horses. now to bay area baseball. the giants beat the brewers at oracle park. 41 and fans saw brett wisely his first career home run. >> the giants have now won 4

fewer could do what he could do. we was an action star, a philosopher and a trailblazer, a san francisco native who left a deep impression on the bay area. i got a special tour of a local exhibit. that's all about the legend. >> we're just outside of the bruce lee exhibit here in san francisco. not too far from where bruce lee himself was born. now inside this building are more than 100 artifacts. some of them very rare will showcase the contributions of this hollywood icon. my favorite one is poster over here. jeff shin point says to his favorite item on display, an image that got him through a difficult childhood. i was the only chinese in in in my class. >> so as a result i got i got picked on. i got caught every racial slur. the poster shows bruce lee in the 1972 film return of the dragon. and i looked at the poster and then i was crying. >> and then it was almost like bruce. he was speaking to me saying it's ok, jeff.

>> good morning. thank you so much for joining us here on the kron. 4 morning news. >> i'm tephanie lin. good sunday to you. we are covering a lot of news this morning. let's start by getting a look at the weather with dave sphar heyday. stephanie, good morning. and good morning, everybody. starting off to a pretty good start as skies opening up in spots very, very nicely there, except a little bit of convenience. cumulative. he can see there right around the flag. not a lot in the way of flag motion, though, because don't have a lot of winds right now. but as you head to the coast or wherever you are, you'll get that afternoon breeze cooking in here. just a spring breeze, you know, to be into the teens. and later on this week, we do see some winds still holding on early part of the week, but there is a drop. and that's because we're going to see a warm up towards the end of the week so far. here's we stand. single digits and calm winds for right now. stormtracker 4 noting some scattered clouds still and our picture here and that remain that story for basically today. got to keep the mention of some scattered clouds all day 50's line at the east bay shoreline, a touch cooler inland because we had some

radiational cooling overnight. even though we have some shared this with some clouds. 51 going on for antioch. 53 for a livermore. also san francisco and san jose. the contrast we're catching up, but we're a little cooler up there in the north bay by a half a dozen degrees. so it's all chillier in spots. and it was this time from yesterday noting those clouds as we go forward to the period again, a mixed bag of sun and clouds. temperatures in the 60's 50's off towards the coast and again, watch those afternoon winds will be a bit chilly even though the summit and biting later on this week. there's a bit of a warm-up. we'll have more on that story coming up in a bit. stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> a developing story we are following this morning. another mass shooting in america. this time 8 people are dead, including children after gunshots rang out at a mall in texas. the shooter is also dead. this all happened saturday afternoon in the dallas suburb of allen. that's about 25 miles north of dallas. authorities say police shot the gunman who they believe acted alone.

investigators are still looking for a motive this morning. this happened just one week after another mass shooting in texas killed 5 people in the city of cleveland. the u.s. is averaging one mass killing per week. so far this year. and texas governor greg abbott released a statement extending condolences to those involved. he said he's been in contact with state and local leaders and is offering his full support to make sure the appropriate resources are deployed. another developing story we're following another mass shooting in california this time in chico, a teenager is dead and several others injured after gunshots rang out at a party. it happened early saturday morning near chico state police say they found 6 people shot at an apartment building. a 17 year-old girl died at the hospital. 5 others were injured and are expected to be okay. the ages of the victims range from 17 to 21. police have not yet identified any suspects, but they say this shooting is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community right now. here in the bay area. one

person is dead after an early morning shooting in oakland. police say they found a car that appeared to have been a crash near the i-580, keer avenue on-ramp saturday morning. officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside the car. the person was rushed to the hospital where they later died. oakland police are investigating the shooting as a homicide. it's confirmed oakland unified teachers head back to the picket lines again tomorrow. according to a member of the union bargaining team. >> and this was the scene friday on day 2 of the teachers strike. the district has offered to give teachers a 22% pay raise. and a $5,000 bonus. but the 3,000 members of the teachers union say this is not just about the money. the teachers union says a tentative agreement might be reached, but only if the district comes up with more offers. a state task force approved a reparations plan saturday. that could mean billions of dollars for california's black residents and the nine-member committee

started drafting the proposal to address ways the state may compensate and apologize. but what supporters have called generations of discrimination. economists say under the current plan, the state could end up owing around 800 billion dollars to black residents among the approved recommendations, a public apology acknowledging the state's responsibility for past wrongs. the state legislature still has to agree to adopt these proposals. happening today, a newly constructed off-ramp on the bay bridge is open all year, but one island, the original alignment of this ramp you see here was closed nearly 20 years ago to accommodate work on the new eastern span of the bay bridge. the new ramp is located on the far right lane just past the tunnel and the eastbound direction on the lower deck of the bay bridge. officials say the new off-ramps design improve safe access by creating a separation from traffic, merging onto the bridge and allowing more space for larger vehicles. well, last night wasn't so magical for the warriors. they lost by 30 points to the la lakers in

>> law enforcement responded to multiple sideshows friday night. as you can see there, hundreds of cars and people blocked off intersections. kron four's gayle ong has more on what happened. >> video from an overnight sideshow shows an suv ramming a car already engulfed in flames. with the sound of fireworks piercing the early morning air. this sideshow starting in oakland around 10, 45 friday night. hundreds of people and vehicles gathering on the streets near the oakland museum. police show up and block off the crowds for several hours. earlier in the night around 09:30pm. this sideshow is spotted in crockett just south of the car keenest bridge tearing up the roads for about 20 minutes before taking the show on the in this case, i-80 down to oakland. oakland. police say

vida blue has died. the oakland a's releasing a statement this morning saying, quote, there are few players with a more decorated career then by the blue. he was a 3 time champion and mvp a 6 time all-star, a cy young award winner and oakland a's hall of famer biden will always be a franchise legend blue made his major league debut when he was just 19 years old. he played for the a's from 1969. until 1977. winning 3 world series championships with the team. he then played for the giants from 1978 until 1981. and then again from 1985, to 86. he was 73 years old. now to a developing story we're following this morning. another mass shooting in america. this time 8 people are dead, including children after gunshots rang out at a mall in texas. the shooter is also dead. this all happened saturday afternoon in the dallas suburb of allen. that's about 25 miles north of

dallas. authorities say police shot the gunman who they believe acted alone. investigators are still looking for a motive this morning. this happening just one week after another mass shooting in texas killed 5 people in the city of cleveland. the u.s. is averaging one mass killing per week. so far this year. texas governor greg abbott released a statement extending condolences to those involved he said he's been in contact with state and local leaders and is offering his full support to make sure the appropriate resources are deployed. another developing story we're following here. another mass shooting in california this time in chico, a teenager is dead and several others injured after gunshots rang out at a party. it happened early saturday morning near chico state police say they found 6 people shot at an apartment building. a 17 year-old girl died at the hospital. 5 others were injured and are expected to be okay. the ages of the victims range from 17 to 21. police have not yet id ntified any

suspects, but they say the shooting is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community right now. we're in the bay area. one person is dead after an early morning shooting in oakland. police say they found a car that appeared to have been in a crash near the i-580, keller avenue on-ramp saturday morning. officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside the car. the person was rushed to the hospital where they later died. oakland police are investigating the shooting as a homicide. it's come from the oakland unified teachers head back to the picket lines once again tomorrow. that's according to a member of the union bargaining team. >> this was the scene on friday on day 2 of the teachers strike. the district has offered to give teachers a 22% pay raise and a $5,000 bonus. >> but the 3,000 members of the teachers union say this is not just about the money. the teachers union says a tentative agreement might be reached, but only at the district comes up with more offers. a state task force approved a reparations plan saturday. that could mean

hundreds of cars and people blocked off intersections. as you just saw there. kron four's gayle ong has more on what happened. >> video from an overnight sideshow shows an suv ramming a car already engulfed in flames. with the sound of fireworks here, seeing the early morning air this sideshow starting in oakland around 10, 45 friday night. hundreds of people and vehicles gathering on the streets near the oakland museum. police show up and block off the crowds for several hours. earlier in the night around 09:30pm. this sideshow is spotted in crockett just south of the car keenest bridge tearing up the roads for about 20 minutes before taking the show on the in this case, i-80 down to oakland. oakland. police say they got many calls about overnight sideshows. still the illegal activity carried into

your head should fit squarely on top of your neck and your shoulders. just like the golf ball on. okay. >> any deviation from that alignment? it's going to cause more forces in the muscles and joints. so what it comes out to is for every inch that your head is forward. that's an extra 10 pounds. so if you're and your head is 3 inches out, you're now carrying a 40 pound head. wow. yeah. so that's a lot of stress put on the up with, say upper neck and shoulder. so we really need to fix because in the long run, you're going to have problems. so one way to test and see if you have it for one. felt like if i can see your ear you can take just simply take a pencil in place it right there at the shoulder. okay. and then maybe you can turn to the to the audience now your that pencil should intersect your ear
