me. it's there, but it's not living up to the iconic status of that fog situation. that will be a player in to our weekend forecast as summer like as it will be. we'll be fighting that fog both today. and it looks like tomorrow morning as well. might be a little elsa trends by tomorrow morning. so speaking of that fog, here's the breakup. we get fairly quickly today by the late morning hours. pretty much taken care of. we go back into the sunny boat. here comes back again for tonight. good coverage area spilling across the delta in the by that inland warming. and then the breakup. yeah, that will happen by noon. but we may have some coastal clouds hanging around into the afternoon. the winds are going to notice them pop a little bit tomorrow afternoon. we'll be talking about that a little bit. but single digits to calm right now in the temperature check mostly in the 50's over the geography. 61 for antioch. that gives us a comparison of a couple degrees ahead of where we were this time from yesterday. the breakdown for you today. 75 by 11 by 2. 86 says some areas inland stream their way through into the

lower 90's. we have more on that forecast coming up in a bit. elop. >> we'll see. is there. well, the amtrak station in downtown martinez will remain closed through the weekend. hazmat crews are still cleaning one and a half pound mercury spill in the parking lot. the toxic metal was also found on nearby streets. people are being encouraged to avoid the area. and in the meantime, trains will stop near the old station depot and use the ferry street road crossing instead of stopping at the martinez station. the north bay high school where 2 students were stabbed in march and then one of them died was on lockdown on friday. the latest incident is causing anger in the community with people arguing that there's not enough being done to keep students and teachers safe kron four's. rob nesbitt was at the school and has more on what police are saying. >> the lockdown lasted for about 2 hours. students were released and reunited with their parents. every parent i spoke to stood here in fear during the lockdown while they waited. this is what the

sidewalk in front of montgomery high school looks like friday. >> parents like hector gonzalez lined up waiting for answers while the school is on lockdown. >> i mean, i'm just really concerned. trust your kid, too. >> santa rosa police were called to the school at 10:45am. after a student called 9-1-1 to report. another student showing off a gun. several students ran when they saw officers arrived and police searched the campus for a suspect. parents getting updates from their kids locked in classrooms told as part of the one school in weston not >> gun on the race findings. plus, if you listen to according to police, no guns were found but officers did find a knife hidden in a classroom wrapped in a t-shirt. no arrests were made. but wayne's or rita says he saw police escort a student from the campus to a police cruiser. did. i was actually standing to the parents. >> and there i came out of their head when they saw. sun. walk out rita's daughter is a

freshman at montgomery high school and he was reunited with her after lockdown ended around 01:00pm. >> it's the same school where a student was stabbed to death in march. yet you wonder if you put your daughter and the right school, a school resource officer was added to the campus after the fatal stabbing and santa rosa. police say the officer helped identify potential students involved and isolate any danger to a single classroom. parents waiting outside say more needs to be done to keep kids safe. there just has to be some better protocols. and, you know, i you know, i feel like they actually should want all the students. they should go through a gate. investigators have learned about a social media trend today called senior assassin day encouraging seniors to bring water guns to school. officers are still working to determine if today's lockdown was caused by a real gun or a toy. >> reporting in santa rosa. i'm rob nesbitt. kron. 4 news. >> the developer who are set to build multiple housing units at people's park in berkeley has pulled out of an agreement with the uc system.

the developer housing for community development plan to build 125 units for the homeless at the national landmark. the university plans to build student housing on a portion of that site. the developer says the court's decision to overturn the developments approval created significant delays in the project. meanwhile, uc berkeley is looking for a new developer. chp is investigating a suspicious death after a body was said to have been found in a burned vehicle at a nevado tow yard. they say the silver mercedes had been towed by officers along highway 101, near the san antonio road exit in novato on may 3rd, the next morning downtown nacio rope tow reported that the car was on fire and the body was found after the fire had been extinguished. identity of the victim has not been released. friday marked a day 7 of the oakland teachers strike and both sides are still negotiating. students have not been able to attend class since last weekend. the last

day of instruction for the school year is in just 2 weeks. but as kron four's philippe reports, there is optimism that a deal may be near. >> the oakland teachers strike adding another layer to the disruptions to instructions students have had to manage through. well, still recovering from the pandemic. many of them living in underserved communities. and with the school year winding down, yet, classrooms remaining empty and into the bargaining dispute between the oakland unified school district and the teachers union, oakland education association. >> is welcome. this clearance in 2 weeks. my own child, mister ap on thursday has been postponed. so she will take it next week. olivia, you think is a member of the only a's executive our kids need to be back in the classrooms on monday and that the power on the streets today is it? i'm i'm convinced that that would that it will that will make it happen. due to vick is also a kindergarten teacher at

predicted by president biden hasn't really materialized just yet at the border with mexico title. 42 expired on may 11th and that policy gave the united states more power to restrict migrants from coming in. while the big spike in migrant traffic hasn't happened just yet. border workers are still expecting a surge and they're on a watch for many illegal substances that might be coming in, including fentanyl. the city of san diego is denying entry for people without appointments and border agents are asking migrants to use an app to schedule a meeting times. >> we've got a robust plan in place to humanely manage the border through enforcement, deterrence and diplomacy. we are cautiously optimistic that we're not seeing a post title. surge, but you know we have seen that these situations on the border are very fluid. >> the biden administration has said the new restrictions will help, but they're up to congress to fix the country's immigration system. house republicans have passed a border package on thursday

>> welcome back. well, this week in alum rock park in san jose is expecting a ton of visitors. kron four's. justin campbell tells you what to expect. if you plan on hitting the trails. >> alum rock park is missing its iconic hollywood-style sign after heavy rains washed away earlier this year. no cars are allowed inside the park. only hikers and cyclists are allowed in. it looks pretty busy right now. honestly. and san jose park ranger alex for august says most of the damage to trails has been cleaned up. but she says if you plan on coming for mother's day, come early because only one parking lot is open for mother's day. we're expecting that are creek trail will be very popular because it's very beautiful. this time of year around us is this time of the year. there's a ton of wild flowers for the public to view and picnic sites for you to take your

going to reflect that for san francisco southern marin, pesky area. sometimes it doesn't clear role easily. plus is going to be a strong force of winds going well inland. there will be that strong onshore wind right across the delta which will see on the winds coming up in a bit. all right. here's half moon bay. clearly we've got the overcast that will be taken care of as we approach around noon getting you into a kind of a mostly sunny day. it looks like for the afternoon. 61 for antioch, most readings in the 50's. but as i said, right above us, it's very mild. in fact, warm a little drier, too. so once the sun gets up, there starts warming up the ground. we mix everything out. we go back to mostly sunny and handing it over to future cast for kind of tells it. well, we're talking about we clear out pretty quickly today. it comes back again tonight. again, that marine layer coverage areas almost total. mike pick up a little bit of the ways. some, you know, drizzle lying along the coast, potentially. but then the clearing pattern takes a while. all right. we get to around noon shortly there afterwards. most areas are handled well, but donna, monterey, bay, some of those

coastal clouds may linger in. they're going to have a dampening effect on forecast highs as well. so it may be more in the mostly cloudy mode along the coast tomorrow. sorry for mom. if you're headed that way, just to keep that in mind, that could be a little more problematic and also quite windy around the quirkiness trade. it looks like particularly tomorrow, too. back to those winds for today. we got a breeze going on for a typical hanlon heating, so on and so forth. let's get to tomorrow. this gets more interesting as you can see coming right across the golden gate bridge through the carquinez strait in the delta. those numbers start to pop well in the 20's off the contra costa county solano county, you get a good strong onshore wind throughout tomorrow afternoon. not going to be big cooling effect, just will be a bit of that stiff wind right across the street there. so for today, we're talking the morning fog almost taken care of except along the coast for now warm bay with 80's 90's inland mother's day got the scattered clouds for the bay. again, that will be handled by noon but inland, sunny, still warm. we're

playoff series. this also snaps a 28 series streak of a road when the warriors were not able to pick up a road win in this series, they ultimately lose this game and the season is now over and now we can break down a whole bunch of things and get new wants. but at the end of the day, the warriors rely on klay thompson in jordan, poole if they want to win games in jordan, poole and klay thompson did not have a good series and that proved to be the difference. now, the warriors head into the offseason with a ton of questions a couple months earlier than there used to. to be fair, i >> this team. probably, you know, maxed i you know, we were barely in the playoff picture for most of the years. so to to make that push to get there to win it up first-round series and then, you know, to give the you fight in this

>> good morning and welcome back to the kron. 4 morning news. we're starting things off at this half hour with a look at your forecast because it's a scorcher inland. so if you want to beat the heat head to the coast, dave spahr is in the weather center with the latest now good morning. good morning, everybody. and we're looking at some sunshine already peering out, as you can see in the south bay and san jose state's give you a little flavor of some blue skies, a low around the bay. we have the fog. >> that's checking-in it warm up very nicely as we get into the afternoon hours and very much in the way of hot temperatures happening well inland. all right. let's get to those winds not doing much for right now. we expect a little bit of a breeze, a kind of spring-like breeze this afternoon. it's really tomorrow. we'll start to see a little bit of an uptick on those winds will have a little bit of a a selective cooling effect in certain locations here. temperature check for you. we have the 50's around the bay. 61 antioch 50's up to the north bay with 49 there, santa rosa for the oakland a's versus the rangers 1, 0, sevens. first pitch temps, mid 70's. we've got sunny with a light breeze. west side west

northwest winds at around 10. so the winds will be too active for today. the breakdown gets us up to 86 by 2 o'clock, although some locations will see in the business of the lower 90's in pretty close to that expected to tomorrow. but they'll be some nuances around the immediate bay and the coast. it looks like some of those fog clouds linger around a little bit into the early afternoon. a look at your 4 zone forecast. we come back in just a bit. elop. see you then. >> well, the man accused of beheading his ex-girlfriend with a samurai sword in san carlos is pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. the suspect jose lundy ana, is charged with murdering karina castro just outside her home last september. a san mateo county judge has appointed 2 doctors too, preparing medical report as lundy waived his right to a speedy trial earlier this year, the same judge ruled the suspect was competent to stand trial based off psychological evaluations. the victim castro was a mother of 2, including an 18 month-old baby fathered by the suspect. and open side show in

february led to the arrest of a man and the discovery of thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise. police first spotted to the screen camaro at a sideshow. and then about a month later and a different side show. the driver was stopped by police and the car was impounded for 30 days during that time, police noticed that stolen parts have been installed on that car using a search warrant. chp officers say they went to the home. a 37 year-old christian del toro where they found more stolen car parts and about $20,000 in stolen merge del toro has been arrested on a string of charges, including receiving stolen property. it's been a community alert regarding the abductions of young black girls in the city of oakland. one council member is urging colleagues to back pending state legislation designed to help find them. has doing has that story. >> missing, kidnapped trafficked.

>> and on the streets of oakland, exploiters are literally snatching our most vulnerable girls out there which are black and latinos. incredibly important of the 1500 a missing persons that are total in the city of over 400 are black women. that is a concerning and troubling number. that is why a broad coalition of oakland based organizations have the clear their own state of emergency to what they say is an increase in black girls being abducted in the city. >> the chairperson of the oakland violence prevention coalition, vanessa russell says over the past month alone, there's been 10 attempted abductions with 3 occurring over the last week. is there one incident over the last weekend was? >> just 2 guys that drove that. i'm one of them and try to take you know, a young black girl the street and she was able to defend herself. this is enough. we have to do something. oakland city councilmember treat the read is leading the call for her

council colleagues to adopt a resolution in support of a state bill that >> aims to improve locating black girls that have gone missing. and so this call to action from the community. and certainly effort that i am lifting up for the city of oakland to adopt a resolution in support of california senate bill 6.73, which is being led by senator bradford that would establish an ebony alert to help locate missing black youth. >> and black women statewide and certainly want to see that call of action. let out here in our own city as the rest was also the executive director of the love never fails organization which compiled this list of precautionary safety tips for young girls in oakland. among the tips, how to protect yourself from online predators. certainly be aware of your online presence and and don't always. >> just believe that any people who are trying connect with you are who they say they are definitely not hooking up with strangers. and when you're online, but let's get to solving the root causes. and we need to start holding

the buyers accountable in oakland haaziq madyun kron. 4 news. >> other news san francisco police are investigating 3 separate shootings in the bayview neighborhood within the past 2 days. the most recent shooting happened at around 4 o'clock friday afternoon on 3rd street and palou avenue. police say that the victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. no word yet on his condition and no arrests have been made. then another person injured in a shooting at around 3 thursday afternoon near newhall street com avenue. police say that a man was in an argument with another guy who then shot him. the victim is suffering from now-life-threatening injuries and the suspect has not been caught there either. the 3rd shooting happened at around 11, 30 thursday morning on palou avenue and rake in street. not too far away from the other 2 shootings. police say that a man was hurt but is expected to survive again. no word on any arrests at this time. >> we're taking another live

look outside this time at the san francisco international airport this morning where >> united airlines employees have joined their co workers across the country on friday for a single day strike united pilots say they've been negotiating for a new contract for years and took to the picket lines to demand a new contract. they want better work rules, a better scheduling system and a focus on attracting new pilots. >> we are looking for. >> overall value and quality of life improvements especially with our antiquated scheduling system, we would like our pilots to be able to make better commitments and have better work-life balance. >> in a statement, united airlines said we're continuing to work with the airline pilots association and the industry-leading deal we have put on the table for our world-class pilots. all united flights will operate as planned while our pilots exercise their right to distribute information and pickett while off duty. pilots

at southwest airlines are also with authorizing a strike as of friday as negotiations over a new contract and an increase in pay remain on the table. the pilots union says that 99% of their members approved the move. however, a federal law is making it difficult for airline unions to strike, meaning the pilots. there won't be allowed to walk off the job any time soon. southwest says that travelers shouldn't be too worried about flight disruptions during the ulcoming busy travel season saying, quote, we're staffed and prepared to welcome travelers for their summer travel plans. and coming up on kron 4 morning news, why lawmakers are saying they blame the baby formula shortage on the fda. >> and the action that inspectors are demanding from congress. plus, officials are urging you to take caution near the russian river is melting. snow will mean stronger currents this summer. >> the details coming up. also as we head into the break and just in time for the weekend, it's annual five-block sale in

fda in a hearing friday regarding last year's major shortage of baby formula. >> let's say a major formula manufacturer finds bacteria in its supply today. does the law require it to tell the the answer is no. >> the biggest us maker of baby formula recalled several products and had to shut down for quite some time. inspectors found potentially dangerous bacteria in the formula. lawmakers say there's plenty of blame to go around, but it all comes back to the fda. the agency wants congress to require real-time monitoring and reporting for bacterial contamination. for your help. this morning, state officials are warning people about the potential danger of mosquitoes. the office of emergency services releasing a video friday reminding people that this year's historic rainy season has left plenty of water all around. and what that does is create breeding grounds for mosquitoes. they say to stay away from standing water and to take precaution.

stabbing and santa rosa. police say the officer helped identify potential students involved and isolate any danger to a single classroom. parents waiting outside say more needs to be done to keep kids safe. there just has to be some better protocols. and, you know, i you know, i feel like they actually should want all the students. they should go through a gate. investigators have learned about a social media trend today called senior assassin day encouraging seniors to bring water guns to school. officers are still working to determine if today's lockdown was caused by a real gun or a toy. >> reporting in santa rosa. i'm rob nesbitt. kron. 4 news. >> now the east bay where a developer who is set to build several housing units at people's park has pulled out of the agreement with uc berkeley. the developer named housing for community development plan to build 125 units for the homeless at the national landmark. the university plans to build student housing and a portion of that site. and the developer said that a court's decision to overturn the developments approval created significant delays in the

project. meanwhile, uc berkeley is looking for a new developer. chp is investigating a suspicious death after a body was found in a burned car at a nevada tow yard. they say that a silver mercedes have been told by officers along highway 101, near the san antonio road exit in novato on may 3rd, the next morning downtown tow reported that the fire happened at that car and the body was found later after the fire was extinguished. identity of the victim has not been released. friday marked the 7th day of the oakland teachers strike in both sides are still negotiating. students haven't been in class since last weekend. the last day of instruction for the school year isn't just 2 weeks. but as kron four's philippe djegal reports, there's optimism that a deal may be near. >> the oakland teachers strike adding another layer to the disruptions to instructions students have had to manage through. well, still recovering from the pandemic. many of them living in

>> you might remember this disturbing story of the man accused of beheading his ex-girlfriend in san carlos with a samurai sword. it is now pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. the suspect was a lundy ata is charged with murdering karina castro outside her home last september. a san mateo county judge has appointed 2 doctors to prepare a medical report as to waived his right to a speedy trial. earlier this year, the same judge ruled that the suspect was competent to stand trial based off psychological evaluations. the victim ms castro was a mother of 2, including an 18 month-old baby that was fathered by the suspect. in the east bay and oakland sideshow in february has led to the arrest of a man as well as the discovery of thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise. police first spotted a green camaro at the side show. you see in the center of your screen then about a month later at a different side show, the driver was stopped by police and the car was impounded for a month during that time, police noticed that stolen

parts were installed on that car. so they used a search warrant and chp officers said that they went to the home of 37 year-old christian del toro. they found more stolen car parts and about $20,000 in stolen merge del toro has been arrested on a string of charges, including receiving stolen property. there's a community alert regarding abductions of john black girls in the city of oakland. one council member is now urging colleagues to back pending state legislation designed to help find them kron four's haaziq madyun has that story. >> missing kidnapped trafficked. >> and on the streets of oakland, exploiters are literally snatching our most vulnerable girls out there which are black and latino incredibly important of the 1500 a missing persons that are total in the city of over 400 are black women. that is a concerning and troubling number. that is why a broad coalition of oakland based

injuries. no word on his condition and no one's been arrested in that case. now over to another person who was injured in the shooting at around 3 o'clock thursday afternoon near newhall street and new comb avenue. police say that a man was in an argument with another guy who then shot him. the victim is suffering from non-life-threatening injuries and the suspect has not been caught there. a 3rd shooting happened at around 11 30 thursday morning on palou too far away from the other 2 shootings. police say the man was hurt there but is expected to survive again. no word on any arrests at this time. a live look at the san francisco international airport this morning where united airlines employees join their co workers across the country for a single day strike on friday. united pilots say they've been negotiating for a new contract for years. so they took to the picket lines to demand a new contract. they want better work rules, better scheduling

meaning pilots will not be able to just walk off the job any time soon. so southwest says travelers do not be worried about flight disruptions during the upcoming busy travel season. they're saying, quote, we're staffed and prepared to welcome travelers for their summer travel plans. back here at home. happening this weekend. adoption fees are waived at oakland animal services for a special event. the goal is to find 75 big dogs forever. homes so far, 10 have been adopted. currently, the shelter has more than 100 large dogs. and that's actually forcing some of the animals to share a kennel. the organization says that they're seeing overcrowding across many shelters in the bay area and they actually blame the housing crisis. people might have moved down, not have a place for these pups. so the shelters holding the special adoption event now through sunday. the city of san francisco has announced their big plan to bring more summer concerts to golden gate park. we've seen some of the bandshell and now the 2 to 3

meantime, trains will stop there. the old station depot and they're being told to use the ferry street road instead of stopping at the martina station. a woman is dead and a man critically hurt after shooting in hayward. this happened at around 2 o'clock thursday afternoon at a home on ksee, a drive a few blocks from tennis in high school. police say that the 30 year-old woman died at the hospital. the 28 year-old man is now listed is in stable condition. no word on a suspect at this time. the shooting is being investigated as a homicide. an altercation ended in the shooting death of a teen boy in vacaville that happened at around 6.30 thursday night on meadows drive. police responded to reports of gunshots on meadows drive where they say that they found a 16 year-old boy who was shot. he was rushed to the hospital where he later died. police say another teen, a 17 year-old boy showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound. his injuries were not

considered life-threatening. police are now trying to determine of the 2 shootings are related. north bay high there's a north bay high school where there were 2 students stabbed in march. one of them died. well, that school was placed on lockdown just friday. police arrived on montgomery high school yesterday morning after a student called 9-1-1 saying another student was showing off a gun. police think that this might have been part of a viral trend called senior assassin day where high school seniors are encouraged to bring water guns to school. police didn't find any real guns or even toy guns, but they did find a knife hit in the classroom, wrapped in a t-shirt. no arrests were reported, but one parent told us that they saw police escorting a student to a police cruiser. >> i was actually standing to the parents and there i came out of their head when they saw. sun. walk handcuffed. there just has to be some better protocols. and, you know, i you know, i feel like

they actually should want all the students. they should go through a gate. >> the school reports that a resource officer was added to the campus after the recent fatal stabbing. and they use for the developer who was set to build several housing units at people's park has pulled out of an agreement with uc berkeley. the developer named housing for community development plan to build 125 units for the homeless at the national landmark. the university plans to build student housing on a portion of the site. the developer says the court's decision to overturn the developments approval created significant delays in the project. meanwhile, uc berkeley is looking for a new developer. a rally in the east bay friday for a man who was shot and killed by a san leandro police officer in 2020. steven taylor died at a walmart when officer jason fletcher shot him after he tried to reportedly take about and a tent from the store without paying.

>> taylor's family says that he was suffering a mental health episode when the shooting happened in april of 2020, the rally was held at the alameda county courthouse in oakland. well, fletcher was at a trial date hearing. those who attended are hoping to bring more awareness to policing and mental health. fletcher has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in taylor's death. his trial is set to begin in june. and taylor's family has filed a 10 million dollar lawsuit against officers involved in his death and the city of san leandro. friday marked the 7th day of the oakland teachers. strike in both sides are still negotiating. students have not been in the classroom since last week and the last day of instruction for the school year is actually in just 2 weeks. but as kron four's philippe djegal reports, there's some optimism that a deal may be near. >> the oakland teachers strike adding another layer to the disruptions to instructions students have had to manage through. well, still recovering from the pandemic. many of them living in underserved communities. and

of stolen merchandise. police first spotted this green camaro at a sideshow. and then about a month later at a different side show, the driver was stopped by police. the car was impounded for months. and during that time, police noticed that stolen parts have been installed on that car using a search warrant. chp officers went to the home of 37 year-old christian del toro where they found more stolen car parts. and about $20,000 in stolen merchandise. del toro has been arrested on a string of charges, including receiving stolen property. there's a community alert in the east bay about abductions of young black girls in the city of oakland and one city council members urging their colleagues to back pending state law designed to help find them. kron. 4 says it has that report. >> missing kidnapped trafficked. >> and on the streets of oakland, exploiters are literally snatching our most vulnerable girls out there which are black and latino incredibly important of the

police are investigating 3 separate shootings all in the bayview neighborhood within the past 2 days. the most recent shooting happened at around for friday afternoon on 3rd street and palou avenue. police say the victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. no word on their condition and no arrests have been made in that case. now to the next another person injured in a shooting at around 3 thursday afternoon near newhall street. and new comb avenue. police say that a man was in an argument with another man who then shot him. the victim is suffering from non-life-threatening injuries and the suspect there hastnot been caught either. the 3rd shooting happened at around 11, 30 thursday morning on palou avenue in rankin street. not too far from the other 2 shootings. police say that the man was injured but is expected to survive again. no word on any arrests at this time. taking a live look at sfo this morning where united airlines employees joined their co workers nationwide friday for a single day strike

united pilots say they've been negotiating for a new contract for years and took to the picket lines to demand a new one. they want better working rules, a better scheduling system and more attraction for new pilots. >> we are looking for. >> overall value and quality of life improvements especially with our antiquated scheduling system, we would like our pilots to be able to make better commitments and have better work-life balance. >> a statement united airlines center, they said we're continuing to work with the airline pilots association on the industry-leading deal we have put on the table for world-class pilots. all united flights will operate as planned will or pilots exercise their right to distribute information and pickett while off duty. meantime, pilots and southwest also authorizing a strike on friday as their negotiations over a new contract and increase pay remain on the table. the pilots union says 99% of their members approved
