yesterday except the fog clearing earlier and those temperatures being bumped up, particularly in those inland spots right now, ok, the golden gate bridge covered up in that traditional fog yet again, greeting us. >> the other thing factor that will work in our favor for better clearing as we don't have a strong winds working here say the flag is pretty much not going much. we will get a breeze this afternoon, but not quite the heavy winds that bring in that marine layer. all right. so here's a look at that fog. speaking of which clearing up pretty nicely pretty quickly. look by noon. it looks like to be pretty clear even along the coast. yes, it comes back again late tonight. look at the coverage up in the north bay, even at dawn tomorrow, not to not to extensive like we saw from this morning and then clearing out quickly tomorrow. there are your winds pretty much onshore single digits. they won't pop too much beyond that today doesn't look like a temperatures in the middle 50's across most of the board for right now. that gives you a contrast of just a couple degrees ahead of this progress from yesterday. here's the breakdown for 66 11 by 2 79 lower 80's expected

for the inland valleys. nice, comfortable 70's covering the bay. more details in the forecast in a bit. stephanie. >> all right, dave, thank you so much for that. our top story this morning, the investigation continues into what caused a small plane crashed off the coast of half moon bay. the federal aviation administration says the aircraft took off from santa rosa and was heading to honolulu. there were 2 people on board. their identities have not yet been released. both the faa and the ntsb now investigating the cause of the crash. >> a preliminary report is expected to be released within the next couple of days. and now an update to a story we first brought you last week. another break-in forces, a san francisco bike shop owner to close up shop kron four's amanda hari brings us reaction from the business. >> the owner says he's sad and disappointed that they're being forced to close even sooner than they expected. but at this point, he feels there is no way to secure his store.

final nail in the coffin for us early friday morning. high road on the corner of hayes and laguna streets was broken into again. take a look at the surveillance video. a man breaks the window on the door, sticks his hand in and unlocks it. the suspects then come in and steal 3 i went to great lengths to secure the store. >> and he made quick work of the gate out front yeah, this is not much else they can do to protect the store owner chris calloway says they were already planning on closing at the end of the month. the downturn in the economy. the rain was and helpful for us at all. >> and then also the repeated breaking at times. it's just a it's just can't do it anymore. after this latest break-in, he decided to close up shop immediately. >> you can still see some broken glass on the ground and all the bikes are gone. but callaway says he's not leaving. the city will still be in the neighborhood. we have a little flower shop next door. and so i'm not going too

far. he says police were there within minutes of friday's break-in and they've already made an arrest. now it's in the hands of our da to make sure that this charged and convicted to my story been broken into more times. i can count. >> or your time to be broken into. and this point, i don't believe anyone has ever been so it would be it would be nice to get some justice stores remaining bikes and equipment will be sold on their website. callaway says he's still not sure if we'll ever reopen the shop. but for now. >> he has no plans to in the newsroom. amanda hari kron, 4 news. also in san francisco, police responded to reports of a body spotted in the bay waters saturday afternoon. >> police recovered the body near pier. 22 medics were called. the person was declared dead. no details on the person's identity at this time. police arrested a woman on dui charges after investigators say her tesla crashed into a santa rosa home. we now know the driver

is the wife of the sonoma county sheriff. and here's a look at the aftermath of that crash. it happened on beaumont way early saturday morning. you can see that vehicle pretty much on the front of the home of that property. police say 47 year-old natasha winning hill crashed into a fence, a tree and then into the front of the house. one of the people inside the home suffered a minor cut from broken glass and was hospitalized for treatment. sheriff eddie engram sending out a message on facebook about the crash saying in part, quote, as a husband, i am greatly concerned about my wife's well-being. it is as a citizen. and sheriff, i'm also concerned about the well-being of the person inside the home who suffered injuries. he goes on to say- quote, i understand that our community will have more questions and want answers. so do i, however, because this incident is being investigated by santa rosa in order to avoid any potential conflict of interest. santa rosa police will be handling any inquiries from the media.

officers arrested. a las vegas man accused of setting a pacifica school on fire. police say it happened wednesday. officers were called to good shepherd school to investigate. they determine someone set fire to the classroom window and stole items. surveillance video was used to track down a suspect on friday, a school worker spotted someone matching the suspect description and called police officers arrested the man on suspicion of arson, burglary and possession of stolen property. happening now, the portion of highway 37 that was closed for train track repairs has reopened that closure affected an 11 mile stretch between highway one. 21 at sears point and highway 29 in vallejo. caltrans says they were able to reopen the roadway at 04:00am 7 hours ahead of schedule. also in the north bay. take a look at this new colorful art installation in timber on look at how pretty that is. this is at the south of know, park along the old rail trail right by the ocean. just so pretty. this is called

the best and worst times to hit the road. according to triple a this coming thursday, may 25th triple a says you want to leave before 1 o'clock in the afternoon. if possible. on friday. the 26 triple a says you should leave even earlier this next saturday and sunday, there is not expected to be much travel impact on memorial day itself. you will want to try and hit the road in the morning. triple a says the worst time will be between noon and 03:00pm. so keep that in mind. and here's a look now at current gas prices in the area in san francisco, you are paying an average of $4 and $0.95 for a gallon of regular. people in oakland are paying about $4.80 a gallon. and in san jose it is down to 4.78 the cheapest gas in the bay area is in the valais hope fairfield area where people are paying about 4.75. >> well, enjoy some warm weather least in the short term. now today, warming temps up there for inland readings in the lower 80's. got plenty

large amounts of standing water in the central valley. which can serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes. health officials are advising everyone get rid of standing water in their yards to help mitigate any population growth. for the first time in 17 years, state officials are opening a rarely used water relief valve. this coming after the historic rainfall we saw earlier this year. state water officials are activating the kern river enter tie, which connects to the california aqueduct. it's an effort to prevent flood waters from getting to to larry lake, which is already full and threatening communities nearby. officials say and 2 months enough, water will pass through to supply a quarter of a million homes for a year. let's take a live look now at conditions outside a bit closer to our neighborhood. i believe this is our mount tam camera, dave. yeah, you're looking right above it. it's only that marine layer, stephanie. the made a difference in all the microclimates across the bay today and yesterday and which is somewhat typical. so it's right above us. here is this warmer air. but more importantly, drier air. that's

the good thing out eat away at that fog a little bit that mixes out whatever. all those juicy mosquitoes like it. >> what we want to get where that standing water. >> minder there. that's your thing to side. note about the you're talking about all the flooding in the central valley, one of the pluses. that's coming our way with the cooling temperatures less melting up there in the mountains. as we look ahead to the week ahead, what you see out there out of our window, what we've got going on here is the morning fog again covering a good chunk of the east bay shoreline and up to the east bay hills. you will notice there. but again, as you saw from the camera shot is the typical inversion scenario. but it's not like just warm air above us. plus the dry air. that's the plus. because the dry air starts to mix a little bit below us. and that mixing process will help once the sun is already joining us and starts the process forward, we just have warm air above. it's really hard to get the movies like some big bubble up there. 58 of for antioch, 55 or east bay shoreline mid-fifties. we have 54 for santa rosa. 52 going on

for san francisco. a lot of uniformity with these temperatures looking middle 50's. the fog clears out nicely even along the coast here. we do have a breeze but not as strong. so we're not going to be fortifying the local air with that marine layer coming in as much as we saw from yesterday. so by your monday morning. yeah, the fog returns again, all it's not as complete as we saw today and certainly on saturday morning and again yet again, we clear out nicely. so future cast for goes back to the clear mode up in the mountains, a few stray showers at work almost like the typical singsong summer pattern. we'll see a lot more going into the summer months tomorrow morning. there you have some of the fog cloud cover to start mixing out yet again in the morning and tomorrow, probably the warmest day. we're going to see the bunch a few afternoon showers up there in the mountains. so putting this together for you. early fog and clouds, mild 70's for the bailout shoot for and then those lower 80's for the inland spots. tomorrow we up the ante a little bit. it's like a mother nature got the wrong calendar. something think it's memorial day, but it's not next monday, if

>> the pause on student loan payments is set to end by late summer this year in february, president biden announced what he then promised would be the last extension of the pause. he's now saying it's time to start thinking about payments again. >> i want to see it really just idea that i thought i had the opportunity to help my parents and myself and my brother, all of this kind of concerned about the fact that we were able to not have to worry about paying those back in that we achieve scholarship to help this throughout the remainder. but the beginning part of it is just like we can get that. >> meantime, president biden's plan to cancel up to $20,000 in student debt for some borrowers is still stalled in the supreme court. as of right now, borrowers will need to start repaying their federal student loan 60 days after june. 30th or 30 days after the supreme court releases its ruling, whichever comes first. happening now, a free pop-up dental clinic event is taking place in santa clara county doors open today at 06:00am

7.29. this sunday. welcome back to the kron. 4 morning news. i'm stephanie lin. let's start off this half hour with a look at our forecast with dave sphar. good morning today. well, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. and you know, like yesterday will just improve that a little bit. if you want some of that warmer weather back, you've gotten all locations will see a temperature boost going on. and just like yesterday, we're starting off with this fall, pretty aggressive from the east bay shoreline, but get some patients. >> the kind of mix out because we do have some nice, drier air upstairs waiting for us. there's bit of the onshore flow. were no big deal going on today. it's actually be less intense than yesterday's will call those windy areas. more of a stiff breeze this afternoon. pretty much the mid-fifties across the board we have going on here. 58 for any off. we've got 55 santa rosa. 52. meanwhile, 4 san francisco for later today at the ballpark versus the marlins for the afternoon. those highs only about 60. so not much of a change from yesterday. accept well, a dice

in a way that wind. we're down to a west southwest wind at 15 with the sun and clouds mixture. some of those leftover fog clouds for the afternoon. so 66 of 11 by 2, we're talking 79 lower. 80's will do it tomorrow. we up those temperatures a little bit. however, much of next week will be treated to cooler temperatures and watching out for some winds there. so, you know that spring, it's not consistent like this. we have more details in your extended forecast. and of course, that for some stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> we're learning more about the fatal shooting of an armed burglary suspect in san francisco. kron four's philippe djegal has the latest reaction from neighbors. >> kurt herring lives on bosworth street and watch 3 and a half hour standoff between san francisco police and the burglary suspect armed with a gun play out from his back porch friday afternoon. there was a guy that had. >> broken into the corner down on the corner that's been defunct for about a year been close for about a year. guy broke and and threatens. i'm the owner with it. i heard a

machete and a gun by the look of the entrance to the closed corner market. the suspect knew something sharp to get in. the san francisco. police say the man ended up in the residence and the person inside was able to exit and called police. >> a neighbor who did not want to speak on camera says the suspect lived in an apartment above the store and broke into it to get to the landlord who lives in a unit behind the score. the neighbor says the suspect was upset with the landlord and wanted to confront him as the hours we could actually per back porch the police descending down the suspect. eventually, unfortunately, they had to take him out because the understanding reached for his gun. the neighbor who knows them and suspects he was high on drugs. witnesses say police made repeated calls on the loudspeaker. >> for the man to surrender every few minutes, it seem like i don't know if it was every 5, every what they were asking the person by name to come out of the house with their hands up. jamie farrell, rancor lives down the street

and says she hopes the deadly shooting was warranted. >> and wants to see the police body camera footage of the encounter. >> once it is released 3 and a half ounce be arbitrary. >> justified or it's not if you need to be longer than 3 and half hours and they should awaited. but i you know, i'm hopeful that it was justified, but now again, want to see the footage. the district attorney's office is investigating the shooting and police say a town hall meeting about the incident will be held within 10 days. >> in san francisco, philippe djegal all kron, 4 >> officials are investigating what led to the shooting of 2 people in oakland. investigators say it happened early saturday morning on international boulevard near the steak fries. oakland restaurant, one of the victims is in stable condition and the other in critical condition. no word on a suspect description at this time. and that the county, 2 people are dead and 2 others injured. after an early morning crash saturday. it happened around 02:00am on highway 29 near white hall lane. chp says the

car was speeding when it lost control. hit a sign that overturned the driver and front-seat passenger died at the scene to back seat. passengers were rushed to the hospital with moderate injuries. no word yet on what caused that collision. in the east bay freemont. police are asking for your help finding this little guy. a happened at a home near fremont boulevard and eggers drive. and it is possible the 9 week-old puppy was stolen or ran off during the incident. kale is a jack russell terrier, mostly white with black around the left eye. as you can see there. and he also has a spot on top of its head. if you have any information, please call fremont police. governor gavin newsom released this week. a new plan he says will make it easier to get several environmental and infrastructure projects off the ground. our capitol correspondent eytan wallace took a look at that plant. >> well, the governor came here to stanislaus county to make a point this renewable energy project in the works is

one of many across the state. he says he's taking too long to complete something he blames on an arduous and lengthy environmental review process. he argues it needs we got that with a stroke of the pen. governor gavin newsom officially signed this executive order into law creating a strike team to identify environmental infrastructure and transit projects across the state held up due to california's strict environmental review and permitting process. specifically. he wants to see reform to the california environmental quality act, more commonly known as c qua, according to his office. it generally requires state and local governments to inform decision-makers and the public about the potential environmental impacts of proposed projects. the goal is to reduce those environmental impacts to the highest extent possible. touring this patterson construction site one day set to be home to a solar battery storage facility expected to generate enough power for 60,000 homes per year. newsom said he agrees

what about plus, because they're dealing with some flash flood watches they have posted up around there again due to some of the melting from last winter fit. precincts were just got out of 58 antioch, 53 for livermore. we get the mid-fifties lining up the east bay shoreline. also up to the north bay, too. so to start not unusual again, with this marine layer spilling into the central valley like this. a lot of uniformity with those temperatures, then we'll see the decoupling later on today. you'll see that in the 4 zone forecast too. we've got early fog and clouds and all that business mild 70's covered the bay lower 80's around those inland spots we talked about when you get over the east bay hills and up in the north bay as well. then tomorrow, mostly sunny, very warm inland. i want to hold off on hot because we already pop the 90 degree mark before. so we'll get close to that tomorrow with some upper 80's working near 80 for the bay. then for this week, we cool back down again for most of the week. it will take a whole week to get their lower 70's by this friday. looks like and we head into the weekend. so and total what's going to do it for us

crash. a preliminary report is expected to be released within the next couple of days. and now an update to a story we first brought you last week. another break-in forces, a san francisco bike shop owner to close up shop kron four's amanda hari brings us reaction from that business. >> the owner says he's sad and disappointed that they're being forced to close even sooner than they expected. but at this point, he feels there is no way to secure his store. >> this was kind of it. obviously the final nail in the coffin for us early friday morning. high road on the corner of hayes and laguna streets was broken into again. take a look at the surveillance video. a man breaks the window on the door, sticks his hand in and unlocks it. the suspects then come in and steal 3 i went to great lengths to secure the store. >> and he made quick work of the gate out front yeah, this is much else they can do to protect the store owner chris

>> he has no plans to in the newsroom. amanda hari kron, 4 news. also in san francisco, police responded to reports of a body spotted in the bay waters saturday afternoon. >> police recovered that body near pier. 22 medics were called that person was declared dead. no details on the person's identity at this time. police arrested a woman on dui charges after investigators say her tesla crashed into a santa rosa home. we now know the driver is the wife of the sonoma county sheriff. and here's a look at the aftermath of the crash that happened on beaumont way early saturday morning. police say 47 year-old natasha winning hill crashed into a fence, a tree then into the front of the house. one of the people inside the home suffered a minor cut from the broken glass and was hospitalized for treatment. sheriff eddy and graham sending out a message on facebook about the crash saying in part, quote, as a husband, i am greatly concerned about my wealth wife's well-being as a

citizen. and sheriff, i'm also concerned about the well-being of the person inside the home who suffered injuries. he goes on to write, quote, i understand that our community will have more questions and want answers. so do i, however, because this incident is being investigated by santa rosa in order to avoid any potential conflict of interest. santa rosa police will be handling any inquiries from the media. officers arrested in las vegas man accused of setting a pacifica school on fire. police say it happened wednesday. officers were called to good shepherd school to investigate. they determine someone set fire to the classroom window and stole items. surveillance video was used to track down a suspect on friday, a school worker spotted someone matching the suspect description and called police officers arrested the man on suspicion of arson, burglary and possession of stolen property. happening now, the portion of highway 37 that was closed for a train track repairs has reopened the closure affected an 11 mile stretch between highway one.

>> welcome back to kron 4 morning news. good morning, everybody. and fog and coastal clouds at half moon bay. you can see kind of starting off in a typical pattern that we see in the morning hours like this. we see all that fog and all that marine layer kind of hanging near the coast or near the surface, a course that will mix out as we get into the afternoon and most locations will probably shift over to mostly sunny mode, including places like half moon bay. as we get into the early afternoon right now, a lot of uniformity with temperatures were talk. all it may be middle work for kind of an average here. 58 off to antioch, see some better heating their 58 for san jose mid 50's along the east bay shoreline in santa rosa coming in at about 56. so again,

learning more about the fatal shooting of an armed burglary suspect in san francisco. kron four's philippe djegal has the latest reaction from neighbors. >> kurt herring lives on bosworth street and watch for 3 and a half hour standoff between san francisco police asd the burglary suspect armed with a gun play out from his back porch friday afternoon. there was a guy that had. >> broken into the corner down on the corner that's been defunct for about a year been close for about a year. guy broke and and threatens. i'm the owner with. i heard a machete and a gun by the look of the entrance to the closed corner market. the suspect knew something sharp to get in. the san francisco. police say the man ended up in the residence and the person inside was able to exit and called police. >> a neighbor who did not want to speak on camera says the suspect lived in an apartment above the store and broke into it to get to the landlord who lives in the unit behind the score. the neighbor says the

suspect was upset with the landlord and wanted to confront him as the hours we could actually see on her back porch the police descending down the suspect. eventually, unfortunately, they had to take him out because the understanding reached for his gun. the neighbor who knows them and suspects he was high on drugs. witnesses say police made repeated calls on the loudspeaker. >> for the man to surrender every few minutes, it seem like i don't know if it was every 5, every what they were asking the person by name to come out of the house with their hands up. jamie farrell, rancor lives down the street and says she hopes the deadly shooting was warranted. >> and wants to see the police body camera footage of the encounter. >> once it is released 3 and a half ounce be arbitrary. >> justified or it's not. if you need to be longer than 3 and half hours and they should awaited. but i you know, i'm hopeful that it was justified, but now again, want to see the footage. the district attorney's office is investigating the shooting and police say a town hall meeting

about the incident will be held within 10 days. >> in san francisco, philippe djegal all kron, 4 >> governor gavin newsom released this week. a new plan he says will make it easier to get several environmental and infrastructure projects off the ground. our capitol correspondent eytan wallace took a look at that plant. >> well, the governor came here to stanislaus county to make a point this renewable energy project in the works is one of many across the state. he says he's taking too long to complete something he blames on an arduous and lengthy environmental review process. he argues needs we got with a stroke of the pen. governor gavin newsom officially signed this executive order into law creating a strike team to identify environmental infrastructure and transit projects across the state held up due to california's strict environmental review and permitting process. specifically. he wants to see reform to the california environmental quality act, more commonly known as c qua,

the golden gate to start things off like yesterday. this is true, but it will mix out so we're looking for basically a mostly sunny afternoon for the most part, even some the coastal areas will probably see some good sunshine working here. but again, got the fog to start. so that fog, by the way, lift-off nicely, we do the same thing again tomorrow morning. although the coverage even the morning hours, not so grand. covering up the typical spots, but not as intense as we saw from yesterday morning winds. yeah, we'll have a breeze going on today. you know, the spring breeze and it will be that not as intense around the carquinez strait as we saw again from yesterday. that means we're not also ushering in fresh marine layer moisture to keep the fog one along the coast. we got the middle to upper 50's covering a some parts of the real estate. as you can see inland, particularly in the east bay, upper 50's along the east bay shoreline. for now. and that contrast pretty close to yesterday. we're pretty close by a couple degrees, even warmer. in fact. now today, 76 at 1 o'clock at ford. 81. that's a modest warmup. because tomorrow we turn the octane onto this is we'll see numbers approach near about 90

typical whispering. that means singsong changeable weather and we're looking to colder weather as we finish off next week on more details on that forecast coming up, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you for that. >> our top story this morning, the investigation continues into what caused a small plane crash off the coast of half moon bay. the federal aviation administration says the aircraft took off from santa rosa and was heading to honolulu. there were 2 people on board. their identities have not yet been released. both the faa and the ntsb now investigating the cause of the crash. a preliminary report is expected to be released within the next couple of days. and now an update to a st ry we first brought you last week. another break-in forces, a san francisco bike shop owner to close up shop. amanda hari excuse me. kron four's amanda hari brings us reaction from the business. >> the owner says he's sad and disappointed that they're being forced to close even sooner than they expected. but at this point, he feels there

is no way to secure his store. this was kind of it. obviously the final nail in the coffin for us early friday morning. high road on the corner of hayes and laguna streets was broken into again. take a look at the surveillance video. a man breaks the window on the door, sticks his hand in and unlocks it. the suspects then come in and steal 3 i went to great lengths to secure the store. >> and he made quick work of the gate out front yeah, this is much else they can do to protect the store owner chris calloway says they were already planning on closing at the end of the month. the downturn in the economy. the rain was and helpful for us. it off. >> and then also the repeated breaking at times. it's just a it's just can't do it anymore. after this latest break-in, he decided to close up shop immediately. >> you can still see some broken glass on the ground and all the bikes are gone. but callaway says he's not leaving. the city will still

crashed into a santa rosa home. we now know the driver is the wife of the sonoma county sheriff. and here's a look at the aftermath of the crash that happened on beaumont way early saturday morning. police say 47 year-old the tosh a winning hill crashed into a fence, a tree then into the front of the house. one of the people inside the home suffered a minor cut from the broken glass and was hospitalized for sending out a message on - facebook about the crash saying in part, quote, as a husband, i am greatly concerned about my ways well-being as a citizen. and sheriff, i'm also concerned about the well-being of the person inside the home who suffered injuries. he goes on to write, quote, i understand that our community will have more questions and want answers. so do i, however, because this incident is being investigated by santa rosa and order to avoid any potential conflict of interest. santa rosa police will be handling any inquiries from the media. officers arrested a las vegas man accused of setting a pacifica school on fire.

police say it happened wednesday. officers were called to good shepherd school to investigate. they determine someone set fire to the classroom window and stole items. surveillance video was used to track down a suspect on friday. a school worker spotted someone matching the suspect description and called police officers arrested the man on suspicion of arson burglary and possession of stolen property. happening now, the portion of highway 37 that was closed for train track repairs has reopened the closure affected an 11 mile stretch between highway one. 21 at sears point and highway 29 in vallejo. caltrans says they were able to reopen the roadway at 04:00am 7 hours ahead of schedule. also in the north bay. take a look at this new colorful art installation in timber on this is at the south of know, park along the old rail trail just by the ocean. it's called collaborative nature likely attached to fiberglass poles. our place to pick up the sea breezes and the light. you can

right. well, san francisco's muttville senior dog rescue holders and an adoption event this weekend. >> during their much l a dot tough on the shelter will extend their regular hours and provide free adoptions too qualified applicants. i think they're saying much it's like. play musical instruments to think they might have a dj there on the i don't basically what you should obama villas, all their dogs are 7 years old older. so they specialize in adopting out senior dogs, which is very nice. this event starts at 11 this morning and goes until 04:00pm at the shelters headquarters in san francisco's mission district. that's 2, 5, 5, alabama street. you know, for the demos, stephanie, they would have to be much coach or something stagecoach tends to be for the older. the older crowd. tell us for the younger >> maybe try to fit in with the puppies. all right. whatever the the kittens or something i don't know about that. again. sam. come on.
