9:35 am
tell us a bit about kitten season. why are you seeing the surge in cases coming into the shelter right now? we are lucky slash a monkey in the in sense that have a lot of warm months. and so whenever there's more months, that means that there's little kittens being born so arc in season doesn't ever really come to a full stop season is generally referring to those warmer months when we do see larger numbers of kids being born in coming into the shelter open. haha. but they have incredible grip. think it helps to have those living they're just a bunch of fostering is so rewarding because you get to see these little ones grow up and they're just so entertaining to watch. they it's better than any sort of tv what we can really watch these guys play all day. but tell us a bit, too. you know, you mentioned fostering right. so how great is the demand for fostering and how can people express their interest if they want to get involved? yes, a lot of these kids when they do come into the shelter, they're
9:36 am
way too young to go up for adoption. so fostering really is the only option for it's not great for them to grow up in a shelter environment. if we want them to be great. little friendly. kiddos, growing up in a foster home is going to be kind of best option for them, especially for the little ones that some help eating or really grown up big and strong. foster really are needed during kitten season so that we can continue to provide lifesaving care for for all creatures, big and small. and for those watching right now who are interested in adopting, first of all, what should people know about bringing a cat into their home and other things they should be doing to prepare their and if you know, you have any concerns or hesitations fostering is a great kind of first step before adoption because you get to try it out. you get to see, you know, which kittens kind of speak to you and which personality type speak to get to see if that care is something that that you can commit to on a longer term scale. but the great thing about fostering kittens is that they are really portable and they are. i'm really compact. don't really take up too much space in your

house and the whole litter box thing. that's an instinct. you don't even have to train them to do that. the kind of ready, or very grace. they're very it definitely early they that they're comfortable waking up being up in the early hours of the morning was just put it that way. well, and fostering, you know, will make really great social kittens like this. not every kitten gets to go and be in the news and meet a bunch of people. fostering is going to ensure that these guys are up to some really social lovely family pets. and tell us to about the process for adopting as a certain criteria people have to me. yeah. all of our available animals are going to be on our website which is h s s v dot org and actually starting june 15th will have a secondary adoption location opening on thursdays fridays saturdays and sundays. at our petco west san jose location but all you need is to come in with the and you can go home with a kitten. same art auctions team is really great deal. provide

you with whatever advice, resources that you might need to set you up on the path to success with your and even send you home a little bit of the food that we've been feeding at the shelter to get you guys severe is that easy transition will come out sight as well. some if they're you know, we try to include everything in that option. so microchips vaccines, spay neuter that all included art auction okay. wonderful. and what is the adoption fee? option fee is one 75 for one kitten and it's $100 for each additional can. because kittens definitely go best so they like we read what to do in encourage that as much as possible. and as you can see, they're kind of wrestling and playing with each other and they're just loving right? it's so great to see that. in terms of what, yes, i feel like you pretty much covered a lot of it here you know, other any other type south animals that are also available for a dot. oh, yeah, better really in need of that for everyone. as you mentioned, the san jose shelter, which is one of our partner shelters and and one
9:39 am
of our neighbors is full animal. so these kids actually came from the same as a shelter. we're helping them out a lot, you know, a lot of their kittens in animal. so honestly, anything that anyone can do at this point in time when it comes adoption or fostering is going to be a huge help. all the shelters in the bay area ape really, really fall right now. anything we can do to get these guys into homes, whether that is permanently or temporarily through foster is going to be just a huge win. okay, wonderful. well, jessica, thank you so much for joining us here today. really appreciate you bringing it was kevin and michael have been michael, we're just having a blast the kron. 4 news think they have the best time here. ice, just guess what may have had today for more information. again, the website. h s s v dot org. ok, perfect. just because of these the silicon the humane society of silicon valley. thank you for being here. thanks for having we'll be right back. >> it's more entertaining and watching online actually, it's
