little bit to yield in the mostly sunny skies that we talked about for the weekend. expect a bit of warming trend for us as we do that as well. here's the site from the golden gate bridge. you can see the fog just peeling off just a bit. the onshore winds are checking and then they'll be around for the day today. as far as the satellite picture here, we remain pretty clear today. tomorrow there are some changes coming, however, early into next week that we've been talking about. we'll get more into that later on. as of now, the winds that you can see, they're kind of variable for now, but that will favor the typical onshore wind. it's the contrast with the inland heating that will pull in that air off from the west will be a big contrast going on. so our micro climates, we'll check in both today and tomorrow, mostly 50's on the board right now. antioch at 58 got a cool. 48 up there to santa rosa, most east bay shoreline temps in the mid 50's. 49 for fremont. here's the breakdown for you. about 70 or so by 11 by 2. we're talking 82 could have more on that. nice little warm up for your sunday. coming up and a bit, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you.

>> new this morning, people in the north bay may have been jolted awake by a series of small earthquakes. this is a map showing where those quakes hit. they are centered around the geysers east of cloverdale. largest was a 4.4 magnitude quake that struck around 5 this morning. according to usgs, the quake was felt mainly in the north bay, but a few people reported feeling as far south as san francisco. in the east bay, a car crashed into a home and as kron four's, dan thorn explains, this is not the first time something like this has happened to the family who lives there. >> it was a wake-up call the holes won't soon forget it was like huge >> and, you know, the house just shook and then the everything just a car, smashed into the front of the family's conquered home around 1 o'clock friday morning. the crash rattling holds her daughter and 3 grandchildren as they were all fast asleep in the picture. still flashing in my mind of the car coming

through. >> the wall. >> you know, the plaster glass from the window breaking flying. >> hull says she believes it was 2 cars that were racing on clayton road. one of the drivers ended up losing control, jumped this curve on cape cod way and then went airborne into the house. hull says surprisingly, no one was injured. >> thankfully, nobody out of the whole thing. nobody got hurt. nobody, even the drivers. >> host says this crash is the latest the family has dealt with over the last decade. she estimates at least 9 drivers have careened off of the road and into the house. this accident was definitely the worst. the landlord has been fighting to get some sort of barrier or retaining wall put up as protection. but the city will not allow it. the only improvement kohl's says she's seen is the blocking of u turns in this section of clayton road. speeding continues to be a major

problem without a home. the family is worried about what to do next or not. sure. >> we're going we're just trying to get over the shot of it right now. >> reporting in concord, dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> all right. now to the south bay. we continue our coverage of that deadly crime spree that unfolded thursday night. police say the suspect went on a violent carjacking spree in 2 cities. cities ending with 3 people dead and several injured kron four's. justin campbell has the latest. >> police say all of the victims were randomly targeted, but they say the suspect was intentional and he's at ledge rampage that left 3 people dead and 5 others injured. >> after a violent killing spree thursday afternoon. 31 year-old kevin parker on a is now behind bars, charged with multiple counts of murder. we believe that the suspect we have in custody. >> is the sole suspect responsible? for the violent

crime? that occurred yesterday. >> police say the suspect carried out deadly attacks, at least 6 locations in san jose and milpitas. he started by stabbing a person at kusa road and dellwood way. the violent attacks continued at multiple locations. he hit 3 pedestrians, killing 2 of them in downtown san jose. then finally stabbing in killing a 3rd person. a 27 year-old man at smart and final in milpitas before getting arrested. suspect was known. >> to the sounds police department. and has several felony and misdemeanor convictions. the suspect was also on active probation out of santa clara county. police chief anthony mata says the system failed. they'll have to look at what went wrong. why a man with multiple felony convictions was able to carry out an unimaginable crime. >> police are still trying to figure out a motive on why he went on a deadly killing spree

reporting here in san jose. justin campbell kron. 4 news. >> all right. and police in san francisco are investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital. kron four's gayle ong was at the scene and brings us the latest details. >> that gunshot victim is expected to survive. he was treated by an off-duty trauma surgeon before first responders arrived to the scene. >> screams echoing through the street in san francisco's tenderloin district just before 12, 15 friday afternoon. i just heard too. this off-duty trauma surgeon jumped into action, kind of slowly walk make sure that the more shots fired. >> and i was laying in street bleeding from his by. that's when malloy gland treated the man's injuries. some guy walks by >> island wedding which wrapped around her it about contract. >> first responders took the man to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. a nearby witness crediting

go-to karaoke song days. yeah, it's so good. so good. so so good for all of you to join us here on kron 4 morning news. we love having you here and seeing wake up with us. and you know, dave, it's a great morning to be waking up to. >> it is stephanie. we have a really nice champion weekend in store here. kelly crowe was making up for a memorial day and unlike that event, we're looking for a little bit of a pop with those temperatures happening tomorrow. now around the immediate bay, some of the cool side along the east bay shoreline this afternoon. it will pick up some steam. however, we get to tomorrow a little bit golden gate bridge still kind of negotiating through some of those fog. as you can see this again will peel off for us. we'll go in the mostly sunny, temperature check for most readings in the 50's. 48 up the santa rosa. 63 for antioch. 50's down the peninsula. 2 are looking at 53 san jose. 49, by the way, for this hour in fremont, futurecast for well, again, as i mentioned, that fog pretty much taken care of. we're in the sunny mode. yeah. some showers trying to fire up a little bit there up around

tahoe, although today not as pronounced as we'll see tomorrow. here comes back. that fog notice the pattern. as you can see, the cloud cover kind of going up from the south. that's important. what's going to happen early into next week. however. and then we get to sunday morning. there you see the fog in the coastal clouds at work here. let's go forward. clearing out nicely. daytime heating boom away. we go. so it's almost like the atmosphere is try to make up for the saying, okay, you want the summer pattern. here we go. you got your monsoon going on. got a clearing out skies around the bay. and this pattern, by the way, is going to hold all the way into early next week as we get into early next week. from our perspective, is the chance of a little shower or 2. he gets more apparent as we get into early next week. but that flow pattern is going really bring in some cloud cover our way. and that will help elsa bring down the temperatures a little as well on shore flow winds, typical inland heating popping. those numbers in the 20's, upper teens notice around the pocket. you see most of the action hurricane. a straight again happening for

today tomorrow. again, that will be dry driven by east bay in central valley heating that a lot of readings in the central valley tomorrow will be in the 90's. come today, sunny and nice 70's for the bay mid 80's going on inland tomorrow. sunny, warmer around the bay so that we'll see a little of a bump up happening with most the east bay shoreline numbers today will be in the 70's, maybe in some upper 60's. but tomorrow we're getting more than close to around 80, 90 well inland. that's the far east bay then into next week, unsettled early week pattern. now, will hold kind of in a way to keep temperatures down all week. but it's kind of jumps on monday and tuesday. and there is that chance of a few showers or thundershowers with it. mild 70's covered the bay and the interior areas fall as well. all right. we've got 65 for san francisco, 70 for oakland, 77. meanwhile for san jose, very apparent what's going on from this map there. there you see the upper 80's in the far east bay. we've got 82 santa rosa, but not as pronounced. 77, meanwhile, for san jose and a lot of 70's

along the east bay shoreline. again, a little jump is expected tomorrow. so we'll get a longer range forecast coming up for you. but stephanie. all right, dave, thank you so much for that update. >> happening today, the san mateo county fair kicks off this morning. the event features and a pet pig race. the carnival rides and of course, fair food. and that's where also going to find kron four's. tiffany, just as she's live at the fair with more. tiffany, what what's this? i hear about a pig race. has. >> we actually spoke with organizers this morning and tell us that that's one of the favorite events here as the fear. but there is so much to do here, especially if you're trying to figure out what you want to do on the saturday. like we mentioned, today's the first day of the mateo county fair. and they have a wide range of fun activities. this year's theme is called where tradition meets innovation from carnival rise to great, fair food and a concert series. organizers say there's

californians to champion lgbtq+ rights across the state. but the entire senate republican caucus has called on senate leadership to an invite one of the honorees, sister roma and the sisters of perpetual indulgence group in a letter sent to senator toni atkins. the gop senators say the group mocks nuns and the christian faith and denigrates catholics. they say the invitation shows, quote, a blatant disregard for the 10 million catholic californians in our state in response that can says she will not invite the group arguing the gop letter was based on a fundamental misunderstanding. san francisco senator scott wiener is the member who originally invited the group. he praises the sisters for decades of raising money for grassroots community organizations with a major focus on aids patients. this is the same group the la dodgers invited. >> then uninvited. and amid backlash, re invited to take part in the team's annual pride night later this month will see what happens. the

people's catalytic converters with their license plate numbers in order in order to prevent future theft. >> we have to do something. we have to do something to prevent and it hurt. and that's what this is about. >> supervisor joel engardio partnered with san francisco police to offer this program for free license plate numbers along with a police logo will be placed on converters. and the aim here is to make it easier to identify victims and prosecute any potential thieves. the city of richmond is seeing a dramatic drop in violent crime. there have been 2 homicides so far this year at this time last year there were 10. the decline comes despite the fact that there are low staffing levels at the richmond police department officers are said to be working overtime and focusing on ways to prevent crime. also using technology like license plate readers and drones to stop crimes from happening. >> so that's 5 period alone are based on lack of effort or

hour with a look at our forecast. dave, starting off to a pretty cold morning. a cool mornings start. yeah, that's right. good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. and some of the traditional fog is checking in, however, won't stay very long. it's already starting to peel away from. >> lot of the bay area locations that's the east bay shoreline. you can see it's starting to mix outing into the idea of the little sandwich that we have with the fog kind of in the middle. the bottom and aloft, you can see some of that blue skies trying appear on through those winds. little bit of a breeze going on. we'll have those onshore winds as we start to get some inland heating, most notably in the east bay, particularly by tomorrow. those numbers will start moving a bit. most of the readings are in the 50's for right now. 48 up to santa rosa. 63 off to antioch. 52 for half moon bay and 53. meanwhile for san jose for the giants tonight, game time 705, temperatures at around 60 or so mostly clear. some of late fog trying to creep on in here. but we do have a little bit of west southwest wind at about 10. the game will be a

little earlier tomorrow, though. 71 at 11:00am by 2. we're talking 82 in a bit. we'll talk a little bit about that. warm up going on in lynn for tomorrow and even being felt along the east bay shoreline as well. and then kind of the instability we have early into next week, stephanie. all right, dave, thank you so much. >> continue our coverage of the deadly crime spree that unfolded in milpitas and san jose earlier this week. the suspect. 31 year-old kevin parker on a is accused of a string of carjacking, stabbings and hitting at least 2 people with a stolen car. a witness tells kron four's terisa stasio the 2 of the people run over and killed were husband and wife. >> i'm here in san jose on 16th street, right in front of the couple's home. that was killed in this crime spree and the couple's house painter minute ran sharing a traumatic story. he says that he was also struck by suspect kevin parker on a here's what he told me in this exclusive story that you'll see only on kron. 4 news tran says said he

was painting the couple's home thursday afternoon when this all went down. he says that he was standing in a parking lot when all of a sudden parker on it came around the corner and blasted into the lot next to the home. tran says parker ahmed hit him with car and went flying in the air. he then saw parker on a fatally hit the husband and wife. listen in. >> what did you see? it hit me. in foot. i move 5 feet >> i mean, did you fall? we have me phone. >> throughout the day, neighbors came by to pay their respects. one person shared that couple was very proud of their home and was excited about remodeling they're very quiet, gentle, older, vietnamese couple. and we often saw in the front yard,

especially lately as they were enjoying their house painted. it was a project for them. and so. >> we saw them standing front of their house and to the side over here, admiring the work. >> again, you can see the growing memorial in front of the couple's home. neighbors say that they had lived at the home for quite some time and that will certainly be missed here in san jose. theresa kron, 4 news. >> well, friday we spoke with san jose mayor matt mahan who reacted to that crime spree. he told us that community safety is on the top of list of things he wants to improve in san jose. watch. looks like we have a statement actually hear from the mayor. it goes on to a rather from the city of milpitas you can see that they have written that we express our condolences to the victims and their loved ones following the. an act of violence that has shaken our community in the peat us in our neighboring city, san

jose. we stand by your side and offer our support and assistance. anyway, we can't. and it was a tense first day of summer school at mateo high school, a fight broke out between students kron four's haaziq madyun spoke with parents and students about this. >> as authorities investigating stabbing at san mateo high school were right there. yeah, those there's a lot of people right as you can see in the cell phone video, the hallway was filled with students when a fight broke out here at mateo high school in san mateo, 16 year-old brooke weaver was in the hallway when it happened and says she saw a sharp object in the hands of one of the students involved in the scuffle. yeah, i saw 2 over and the seniors probably wish guided turner tack they're in. right. and they are trying attack a guy who is a graduate from school. >> there and he was walking by with that teacher and the teacher try to break it up. but there were knives that were pulled yet. >> officials with the san mateo union high school district confirmed in fact that the altercation between

the students did involve a knife. san mateo police were notified and arrived on the scene a short time later locked down the school. paramedics were also called in to treat a student who suffered a minor injury. here is video of one student being arrested in connection to the fight. the lockdown was lifted around 12 to do that is after police secure the campus of any possible threats. but it was nervous time for parents like michelle weaver, although school district officials say notifications were sent to parents. she says she didn't receive like. >> i'm scared, like first of all, first day of summer school, we're we're not familiar with the school. we go to a different high school. so this is where they sent us. but we didn't get any notification. i found out through the police report. >> classes let out at the normal time of 12:50pm. no other students were injured during this incident in mateo haaziq madyun kron. 4 news. >> where your money, allstate insurance has become the latest company. allstate insurance. excuse me, has

become the latest company to stop writing new homeowners policies here in california. the decision appears to be based on the cost of covering california's recent wildfires, floods and snowstorms chip yost has a look at what that means for the cost of coverage in our state. >> for the second week in a row news came out that another big insurer has stopped selling policies to homeowners and businesses in california, state farm and allstate gave similar reasons with all state sending us this statement friday saying we paused new homeowners condo and commercial insurance policies in california last year. so we can continue to protect current customers. the cost to insure new home customers in california is far higher than the price they would pay for policies due to wildfires, higher costs for repairing homes and higher reinsurance premiums for the middle of a showdown right now between the

insurance industry in the people of california. if that's the case, harvey rosenfield of consumer watchdog is on one side of that showdown and rex frazier of the personal insurance federation of california. >> a trade group for 10 large insurance companies, including state farm and allstate is on the other. and so i've received a lot of questions about is this development with state farm. >> the beginning of a trend that i would suggest it's at the end of a trend that's been going on for a few years now. frazier says there are multiple reasons for the pullback. one being the reinsurance market reinsurance is essentially insurance that insurance companies purchase for themselves to help them cover big events where they may have to make billions of dollars in payouts to policyholders frazier says reinsurance rates insurance companies are paying have gone up drastically. but california does not allow insurance

governor vetoed one of several major budget bills in that state that could delay a decision on the a's moving to las vegas. >> this is because some lawmakers say they won't take up the a's measure until the budget bills are finalized. this veto delays. the process if approved as written nearly 400 million dollars in nevada, public funds would go towards building the a's. 1.5 billion dollar stadium. it would see 30,000 people and have a retractable roof. the current legislative session ends june 5th. but the governor there has the power to call lawmakers back into a special session. back here at home and

as they were all fast asleep in the picture. still flashing in my mind of the car coming through. >> the wall. >> you know, the plaster glass from the window breaking flying. >> hull says she believes it was 2 cars that were racing on clayton road. one of the drivers ended up losing control, jumped this curve on cape cod way and then went airborne into the house. hull says surprisingly, no one was injured. >> thankfully, nobody out of the whole thing. nobody got hurt. nobody, even the drivers. >> host says this crash is the latest the family has dealt with over the last decade. she estimates at least 9 drivers have careened off of the road and into the house. this accident was definitely the worst. the landlord has been fighting to get some sort of barrier or retaining wall put up as protection. but the city will not allow it. the only improvement kohl's says she's seen is the blocking of u turns in this section of clayton road. speeding

continues to be a major problem without a home. the family is worried about what to do next or not. sure. >> we're going we're just trying to get over the shot of it right now. >> reporting in concord, dan thorn kron. 4 now to the south bay where we continue our coverage of the deadly crime spree that unfolded thursday night. police say the suspect went on a violent carjacking spree in 2 cities ending with 3 people dead and several injured kron four's. justin campbell has the latest. >> police say all of the victims were randomly targeted, but they say the suspect was intentional and he's at ledge rampage that left 3 people dead and 5 others injured. >> after a violent killing spree thursday afternoon. 31 year-old kevin parker on a is now behind bars, charged with multiple counts of murder. we believe that the suspect we have in custody.

>> is the sole suspect responsible? for the violent crime? that occurred yesterday. >> police say the suspect carried out deadly attacks, at least 6 locations in san jose and milpitas. he started by stabbing a person at kusa road and dellwood way. the violent attacks continued at multiple locations. he hit 3 pedestrians, killing 2 of them in downtown san jose. then finally stabbing in killing a 3rd person. a 27 year-old man at smart and final in milpitas before getting arrested. suspect was known. >> to the sounds police department. and has several felony and misdemeanor convictions. the suspect was also on active probation out of santa clara county. police chief anthony mata says the system failed. they'll have to look at what went wrong. why a man with multiple felony convictions was able to carry out an unimaginable crime. >> police are still trying to figure out a motive on why he

get into monday anyway. so let's milk this weekend while we have it here. >> here's what's going on. the east bay shoreline. start take care of that fog kind like a little sandwich at work here because right upstairs here, it's much warmer and much drier, which is pretty typical with us. but it's pretty good dry. that's some good news to let it kind of eat away at that fog. but that big bubble of warmer air, which is less dense that sometimes takes a while to get rid of 68 for antioch. 55 livermore mid-fifties line of the east bay shoreline. we got 55 santa rosa matching that for san francisco. a lot of uniformity to start will have decoupling by this afternoon. let's hand it over to future cast for kind of an interesting pattern going on for this time of year as we have moisture already bubbling up the spine of the mountains. you can notice today that won't impact us, though. that's the tahoe forecast. but things clear out nicely for us. whatever fogs left over comes back again for tonight. that's that marine layer moisture. so it's very dense. it's cold. we're very familiar with that. but that subtropical moisture will continue up in the mountains

and flaring up some more thunder showers as we enjoy the sunshine. however, getting into monday that starts to change. you can see the flow pattern starting to happen. this is what i mentioned this is our memorial day. it wouldn't be so great. we start to the cloud cover start to develop maybe even a shower perhaps by tuesday. those winds today because of inland heating got those onshore winds going right through through the carquinez strait. that's where they're going to be channeled the most in some of the valleys. but east bay looks like numbers a really really bleeding in from the central valley are start popping there near about 90 or so, but not so much up in the north bay and the south bay by comparison, although it will be warming up to sunny and nice going on for today. this is half moon bay. still some clearing. we have to work the coast here. 70's for the bay mid-eighties happening inland tomorrow, sunny and warmer around the base. you'll see those numbers in the east bay shoreline. get up to around 80 or the lower 80's. and then meanwhile, inland might get a 90 or so far east, far east bay up in the north bay, not as much now and the next week.

thursday afternoon when this all went down. he says that he was standing in a parking lot when all of a sudden parker on it came around the corner and blasted into the lot next to the home. tran says parker ahmed hit him with car and went flying in the air. he then saw parker on a fatally hit the husband and wife. listen in. >> what what did you see? it hit me. in foot. i i >> i mean, did you fall 5? the >> throughout the day, neighbors came by to pay their respects. one person shared that couple was very proud of their home and was excited about remodeling they're very quiet, gentle, older, vietnamese couple. and we often saw in the front yard, especially lately as they were enjoying their house painted.

get turner tack there in white and they're trying attack a guy who is a graduate from school. >> there and he was walking by with the teacher and the teacher to try to break it up. but there were knives that were pulled yet. >> officials with the san mateo union high school district confirmed in fact that the altercation between the students did involve a knife. san mateo police were notified and arrived on the scene a short time later locked down the school. paramedics were also called in to treat a student who suffered a minor injury. here is video of one student being arrested in connection to the fight. the lockdown was lifted around 12 to do that is after police secure the campus of any possible threats. but it was nervous time for parents like michelle weaver, although school district officials say notifications were sent to parents. she says she didn't receive like. >> i'm scared, like first of all, first day of summer school, we're we're not familiar with the school. we go to a different high school. so this is where they sent us.

he's at ledge rampage that left 3 people dead and 5 others injured. >> after a violent killing spree thursday afternoon. 31 year-old kevin parker on a is now behind bars, charged with multiple counts of murder. we believe that the suspect we have in custody. >> as the sole suspect responsible. for the violent crime. that occurred yesterday. >> police say the suspect carried out deadly attacks, at least 6 locations in san jsse and milpitas. he started by stabbing a person at kusa road and dellwood way. the violent attacks continued at multiple locations. he hit 3 pedestrians, killing 2 of them in downtown san jose. then finally stabbing in killing a 3rd person. a 27 year-old man at smart and final in milpitas before getting arrested. suspect was known. >> to the sounds police department. and has several felony and misdemeanor convictions. the suspect was

everything else very family friendly. when does this all sort of roll out and kick out and which venues are these happening at? yeah, they're going to 7 different locations, citywide and so lot of beautiful parks and public spaces all over the city. lot of familiar favorites, including dolores park, but also thrilled to do a new location at the ferry building this year. and that's our season kicks off. this actually upcoming thursday, june 8, that much and that a limo square park for invasion of the body snatchers. then beyond that, although the movies or on fridays, okay. >> how do you decide actually first walk us through which films people can expect this year this summer? >> yeah, i'm happy to talk about. lineup are really excited. i would say traditionally we've leaned very heavily into the san francisco themed movies this year. we're taking a little bit more of a global so aside from invasion of the body snatchers, which was filmed in terms, cisco our next movies as fridays. we're getting over

to the presidio for the hit movie. top gun maverick. love it. then we're going to be dipping our toes in the water at crane. cove park a beautiful waterfront spot for disney's moana >> fun. we're going to have people warm up their vocal cords and come join us to sing along to abba for the cole mamma mia park very good. and of course, can't forget the marvel fans. and so we're going to do in black panther wakanda india basin trolling part. i years with and then we're going come bend and snap with us for legally blonde at the ferry building. and then lastly, we're going to wrap the season with our halloween movie and costume contest. where do bit of a retro throwback to the original ghostbusters, which will be at jerry garcia ampitheater mclaren park. so this is going to run all the way through into the holiday season. just up to halloween. well, cover 20th. her last. how exciting. so how do you decide what films are going to be shown?

because obviously so many different options to choose from? yeah, there's a a lot of different processes. lot of cooks in kitchen of. so there's the production team. but we also a sense of community serving. with each neighborhood, we also ask neighborhood groups what movies they want to see. we got some put out at the end of each season. surveys told the attendees that we can to ask what kind of movies they want to and are there any general tips that people should keep in mind when they are planning to come out, do they have to rsvp? because i imagine because these events are free and the movies are pretty fun. there's going to be a lot of >> general dress, blankets. you know, it is san francisco. so we always put the request for sunday and warm weather, but we don't always get additionally show up early. but sarah movies begin at that time varies throughout the season. but i'll at least an hour you grab a bite from the food truck scrub drink at the bar. check out some prizes from our amazing sponsors this

>> welcome back. catalytic converter thefts continue to be a big problem in the bay area this week, san francisco police launched a new program in an effort to prevent theft. >> we have to do something. we have to do something to prevent and it hurt. and that's what this is about. >> supervisor joel engardio partnered with police to offer this program for free. basically license plate numbers along with a police logo can be leche can be excuse touched on 2 converters. the aim is to make it easier to identify victims and prosecute the and the city of richmond is seeing a dramatic drop in violent crime. there have been 2 homicides so far this year. there. and at this time last year, there were 10. the decline comes despite low staffing levels at the richmond police department. the department says officers are working overtime and using technology like license plate readers and drones to help solve crime. the police department is hoping to be at its full staffing level by the end of this year. still ahead

readings will be jumping a little bit more so tomorrow, but you'll notice a nice pop happening along the east bay shoreline as well. cover your 4 zone forecast coming up in a bit and see what's going on to top out to stephanie. all right. looking forward to that day. thank you. we continue our coverage of the deadly crime spree that unfolded in milpitas and san jose earlier this week. >> the suspect is accused of a string of carjackings, stabbings in hitting at least 2 people with a stolen car kron four's terisa stasio spoke with an eyewitness who says 2 of the people killed were husband and wife. >> i'm here in san jose on 16th street, right in front of the couple's home. that was killed in this crime spree and the couple's house painter, nina tran, sharing a traumatic story. he says that he was also struck by suspect kevin parker on here's what he told me in this exclusive story that you'll see only on kron. 4 news tran says said he was painting the couple's home thursday afternoon when this all went down. he says that he was standing in a parking lot

when all of a sudden parker on it came around the corner and blasted into the lot next to the home. tran says parker ahmed hit him with car and went flying in the air. he then saw parker on a fatally hit the husband and wife. listen in. what? >> what did you see? it hit me. in foot. >> i feet i mean, did you fall me phone. >> throughout the day, neighbors came by to pay their respects. one person shared that couple was very proud of their home and was excited about remodeling they're very quiet, gentle, older, vietnamese couple. and we often saw in the front yard, especially lately as they were enjoying their house painted. it was a project for them. and so. >> we also we and saw them

standing front of their house and to the side over here, admiring the work. >> again, you can see the growing memorial in front of the couple's home. neighbors say that they had lived at the home for quite some time and that will certainly be missed here in san jose. theresa kron, 4 news. >> it was a tense first summer day of summer school at san mateo high after a fight broke out between students. rob ford says made spoke with parents and the campus community >> as authorities investigating stabbing at san mateo high school were right there. yeah, those are there's a lot of people right as you can see in the cell phone video, the hallway was filled with students when a fight broke out here at mateo high school in san mateo, 16 year-old brooke weaver was in the hallway when it happened and says she saw a sharp object in the hands of one of the students involved in the scuffle. yeah, i saw 2 over and the seniors probably wish guy get turner tack there in white and they're trying attack a guy who is a graduate from school.

>> there and he was walking by with the teacher and the teacher to try to break it up. but there were knives that were pulled yet. >> officials with the san mateo union high school district confirmed in fact that the altercation between the students did involve a knife. san mateo police were notified and arrived on the scene a short time later locked down the school. paramedics were also called in to treat a student who suffered a minor injury. here is video of one student being arrested in connection to the fight. the lockdown was lifted around 12 to do that is after police secure the campus of any possible threats. but it was nervous time for parents like michelle weaver, although school district officials say notifications were sent to parents. she says she didn't receive i'm scared, like first of all, first day of summer school. we're we're not familiar with the school. we go to a different high school. so this is where >> they sent us. but we didn't get any notification. i found out through the police report. >> classes let out at the

normal time of 12:50pm. no other students were injured during this incident in mateo haaziq madyun kron. 4 news. >> all right. happening right now, the oakland police department is searching for a suspect in connection to the shooting of a 4 year-old child. this is 19 year-old lamar, griffin. police say he is wanted in connection to the shooting that happened wednesday night on 68 avenue. officers say that the 4 year-old is in stable condition. they have not said what led up to the shooting yet the oakland police department is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case. for your money, allstate insurance has become the latest company to stop writing new homeowners policies here in california. that decision appears to be based on the cost of covering california's recent wildfires, floods and snowstorms. chip yost has a look at what that means for the cost of coverage in california. >> for the second week in a row news came out that another

big insurer has stopped selling policies to homeowners and businesses in california, state farm and allstate gave similar reasons with all state sending us this statement friday saying we paused new homeowners condo and commercial insurance policies in california last year. so we can continue to protect current customers. the cost to insure new home customers in california is far higher than the price they would pay for policies due to wildfires, higher costs for repairing homes and higher reinsurance premiums for the middle of a showdown right now between the insurance industry, the people of california, if that's the case, harvey rosenfield of consumer watchdog is on one side of that showdown and rex frazier of the personal insurance federation of california, a trade group for 10 large insurance companies, including state farm and allstate is on the other. and so i've received a lot of

questions about is this development with state farm. >> the beginning of a trend that i would suggest it's at the end of a trend that's been going on for a few years now. frazier says there are multiple reasons for the pullback. one being the reinsurance market reinsurance is essentially insurance that insurance companies purchase for themselves to help them cover big events where they may have to make billions of dollars in payouts to policyholders frazier says reinsurance rates insurance companies are paying have gone up drastically. but california does not allow insurance companies to pass those costs on to their customers. and he thinks that should change its just a public policy choice. and if we don't want to reflect the higher cost of reinsurance in rates here companies will be able to less reinsurance and will be able to serve. few are people

mccaffrey has been busy with the forty-niners the last 2 weeks. but he's making time for a cause that's dear to his heart today mccaffrey is hosting the logan bowl, a star-studded madden tournament in honor of a fan who passed of cancer kron four's. kate rooney has the details. >> they're going to run it to mccaffrey. >> most people know christian mccaffrey is one of the brightest stars in the nfl. now mccaffrey's using not star power to bring a young man's dream to life. i don't think i could ever think christian enough. i think i could spend 1000 lifetimes and be able to thank him for what he has done for my christina son, logan hale was a football player. tae kwon do champion and christian mccaffrey, superfan. he passed away in 2021 at age 13 after a courageous battle

here. good morning. thanks for having me, ok? so you brought us something very delicious and walk us through what you're going to be des today. so this is rainbow lot that we do for the month of june. >> it's part of our mark in mike's concept, which is that new york style deli within the so it starts with a potato and we make ours. we we par bacon, cut him out. we don't make them like the old school way where you sit in front of up an addition then we had some avocado and then we do a little it's almost like or incurred huge use the corn and then took it out gets nice and thick on its and then we finished with some smoked salmon and trout roe. and then some flower blossoms just how do the kind of yeah, ok? so the first one we have the there and we'll out the condo. it's kind of scoop it out watching the chef at work. this is very present as you've been in business for quite some time. yes, so that we massive down a little bit and

then with our cutter, we're going to cut it the same. size has the lot this is a lot that we use. this is the cutter that we use for the ca. put it on involve way. >> it kind of gives the whole thing a bit more color as well. it gives a lot of colors sort of colors of the rainbow as so we're going to season it with a little little little saw the avocado. >> and i also hadn't had season this yet as well. and then this is like that corn like orange cream. corn heard this is just to score. and so it starts out like a really and then week could get nice and thick and then we get you know the yellow, right? wow, or get that. >> and the ring will hear the cookie just keeps it nice shape of the of the lake yes. and then we just adds to that. >> as yemen on top of there. so just look at all that beautiful color.
